This has always.been my go to for tacos in Tahoe. Service is with a smile and really fast. Quality and quantity to tell your friends about. Salsa bar is great! Tripa tacos are the best I've had anywhere.

Jalapeño's Taqueria – A Mexican Food Surprise in South Lake Tahoe It was a pleasant surprise to find a traditional Mexican taqueria right in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. Conveniently located near the city center on Emerald Bay Road, the main avenue around the lake, it’s hard to miss with its big red sign inviting drivers to pull over for a bite. The menu is abundant and varied, offering not only tacos but also burritos, quesadillas, birria tacos with soup, and special combo meals. Among the tacos, you can choose hard shell, soft shell, or street tacos, all at reasonable prices with a wide selection of proteins. I went for three street tacos—lengua, pollo asado, and adobada. Each came with a generous portion of meat: the lengua was tender and cut into hearty pieces, the chicken was juicy, and the adobada had a nice crispy texture. The staff also provided plenty of fried onions and a jalapeño on the side, a great extra touch. The salsa bar is well-stocked and clearly labeled from mild to spicy, making it easy to choose. A fountain drink station is also available and works well for a quick refill. Inside, the restaurant is decorated with Mexican-inspired touches, including artwork from Coco and displays showcasing the scenic beauty of Lake Tahoe—a charming blend of food culture and local flavor. Overall, Jalapeño's Taqueria is a solid stop in Tahoe for flavorful Mexican food, generous portions, and a casual, welcoming vibe. Perfect for locals and travelers alike.

this is the best breakfast burrito I’ve had in a decade. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and the prices are very reasonable. 10/10 recommend eating here. This place is a treasure. The salsa bar alone is worth coming here.

Jalapeño's is my favorite restaurant in Tahoe. Are they the fanciest? No. But they serve up tasty healthy food for a reasonable price when every other restaurant has decided to charge $20 for a burger. I get the #6 special every time, crispy chicken tacos. The salsa they provide is delicious, and for about $15 (always leave a tip, friends) I have a full meal that will fill me up and not leave me feeling gross. If you like good Mexican food, made and served with skill and care, give them a try!

Visiting Tahoe and didn't expect to find any Mexican food. Ordered Super Burrito steak and did not disappoint. Great tasting burrito, lettuce in a burrito isn't my favorite but this version wasn't bad. Would definitely recommend stopping by and price is very reasonable and fair

Fast service, good food, plenty of free sauces to go with your meal. Bathroom, pretty clean, as long as the toilet and surrounding floor is neat you know your boi will do his duty. Overall, fair prices for good food. The inside is decorative and cozy too.

Best thing about this place, great value for your money.. friend and I ordered what we though we would eat, but we ended up getting food for 4 without realizing it.. Huge portions and the food is delicious.. Friendly staff and good salsas at the salsa bar

I got a super nacho for $15. It was a big plate full. I could only eat half of it. They have a nice salsa bar too. The restroom was clean. I like the outdoor seating options. It's a bit cooler here, than where I'm from. Even in the summer time. It's nice eating under the shade of trees.

Best taco place in Tahoe HANDS DOWN. lived here for 2 years and have tried them all. They have anything and everything you could want from a Mexican restaurant. You will not find better flavor! The food is fresh, cooked to order fast, and delicious. And the salsa bar options are amazing. Recommend their Birria, chicken chipotle burrito, and beans & rice! Other favorites are their chorizo (it’s to die for) breakfast burrito or chorizo street tacos and steak torta!

Not a 5 star Michelin restaurant, but if you want good mexican food and low key atmosphere, this is your place. Pick anything from their menu: I don’t think you can go wrong. I recommend the birria tacos (limited availability).

We stopped by here for a quick lunch. Plenty of free parking spaces. The menu is simple to order from and the cashier was friendly. Lots of salsa variety to choose from but they charge for chips here. The decorations on the wall looks great too.

This is my favorite Mexican Food Restaurant in all of Nevada and California combined! They had a salsa bar and a wide range of options to choose from! The quality was top notch and the portions were generous! Great flavor, great ambiance, beautiful art as well! Outdoor and indoor seating. Plenty of space for events!

Food was overall pretty solid. Got 5 things for $80. Birria soup: 4/5 good flavor, lots of beef Chile relleno combo plate: 3/5, not a lot of flavor, wouldn't get it again Carne asada fries: 5/5, good flavor, huge portion

Nice place, I ordered a chimi changa burrito and would expect the filling to be hot but instead it had so much cheese and sour cream making the entire filling cold. Quesadilla was good. They also carry rice pudding and flan. Rice pudding was not good but flan was good.

was charged 2 different amounts for the same items within a month for 2 Super Shrimp burritos i was usually charged around $28 every time i go (no guacamole, no beans) but extra sour cream and lettuce. on June 25 2023 i was charged almost $42 for the same 2 burritos. i was charged extra $10 ($5 extra charge for each burrito) because as i was told was super burrito. if they charge extra for sour cream and lettuce they should take out the value of the guacamole and beans from the charge too . i liked this place but not going back, $42 for 2 shrimp super burritos, no way. $42 for 2 shrimp burritos. not sure if the previous charges were wrong or not. dude . the closest mexican restaurant where i live charges $13-14 for super shrimp burritos. this is ridiculous. pics attached

Overall…it’s really average. That being said…the churros are really good! And the salsa bar is fantastic. Probably better off at a different Mexican place, but it’s decent.

I hate to give them a bad review because their Chile Rellenos were good. The big issue was my wife wanted nachoes and they just used fake Cheese Whiz on it. We consider that TOTALLY unacceptable! I'm surprised a Mexican restaurant would even have Cheese Whiz in stock. She ended up just putting the nachoes in the trash.

It’s best to avoid this taqueria. Got a California Burrito from them and when I got home it was literally a burrito filled will mostly pico de gallo, small portion of asada, yellow cheese and thick house potatoes?! California burrito come with French fries. I tried to eat it still because I was hungry but it was so dry and the onion in the pico de gallo that was in the burrito was so overpowering that I had to throw it away. If you do have the need to come here I wouldn’t suggest getting the California Burrito.
