The food is always so good! We brought our 12 y/o for her bday since crab is her favorite! We had more than enough food! Service was good, the bartender waited on our table and she was busy busy, but still very attentive! Shuck Me is our go to for local seafood, never too crowded and there are other options on the menu. For the apps and sides: The fried pickles were really good, the hush puppies were fried crispy and delicious! The potatoes with the boil meals were sooo good too! The fried okra was decent, good portion, but not anything special. For meals: the crab legs were good and the peel and eat shrimp was even better. Our meal came with a jalapeño cheddar sausage that was good too.
Our family went after church on Sunday. Food was great and plenty for the price! The gumbo was really really good. We have been looking for a good seafood restaurant and Shuck Me gets our business! Family atmosphere and everyone thought the food was great!
A fun place! Love the friend shrimp dinner and live music. The bar in the back is a perfect casual watering hole. Very comfortable and casual with great food and drinks.
Shuck me is a really cool place, being much larger than it looks! It's somewhat of a hidden gem there in the Southlake area. This is one of the best seafood places I've discovered in a long while - the food is always delicious! My favs are the wings, shrimp & grits, fried catfish/fries/hush puppies😋 Happy Hour is a budget friendly welcome treat during the week! I wish there were more Shuck Me restaurants closer to the mid cities area.
Had a great meal! Convenient counter ordering from an easy to read menu followed by excellent food! The owner was very friendly and gave us some tips on the restaurant. Pictured- 1lb crab, catfish and shrimp combo, 1/2 dozen oysters, calamari. Offered a generous military/ first responder discount too. Much appreciated!!
If you’re not emotionally ready to fall in love with fried seafood, then baby—don’t step foot into Shuck Me. But if you are ready for crispy, buttery, flavor-soaked bliss? Pull up, order at the counter, and get your life together over a basket of catfish and some bangin’ shrimp. First of all, let’s talk about the Bang Bang Shrimp. Y’all. Y’ALL. They lay these golden little bites of heaven over a bed of lettuce and that fluffy white rice like they know exactly what your soul has been missing. The shrimp is perfectly fried—light, crisp, never greasy—with a sweet heat from that creamy bang bang sauce that hits your tongue like a flirty wink. Mix that all together, lettuce and rice included, and suddenly you’re doing math in your head to figure out how often you can come back without becoming a local legend. Now for the Thursday All-You-Can-Eat Catfish Special. Listen, I’m from the South. I know catfish. And this catfish? It brought peace to a two-week catfish craving that had me acting dramatic in public. It’s flaky, tender, and wrapped in the kind of crispy cornmeal breading that makes you want to text your ex and tell them you’ve moved on—to better things. We couldn’t even finish it all, and trust me, we tried. The fries are classic, golden, and reliable—like the friend who always reminds you to hydrate and carry snacks. And the whole vibe of Shuck Me? Casual perfection. You order at the counter (don’t let that fool you—this food deserves a tablecloth and fanfare), then you kick back with your people, soak in the welcoming, rustic atmosphere, and wait for greatness to arrive in a red basket. This isn’t fine dining, darling—it’s fine vibing. It’s comfort food with swagger. It’s the kind of meal that hugs you from the inside out and leaves you planning your return visit before you’ve even made it to the parking lot. In short: Go hungry. Go often. Go with people who will forgive you when you don’t share your shrimp.
Actually I was there to draw caricatures at a company party in back. But I arrived a little early, and when I saw the menu I had to try it out. There are so many options, but I love fish tacos so that was quickly settled. This time I tried the salmon, but I'll be back to give their catfish a whirl.
Had a good time at Shuck me. One thing I do want to note is that the bathrooms were super clean! The food was good! It was hot, and made to order. We got a grouper poboy, catfish, mozzarella sticks, lobster hushpuppies. All of it was good! We enjoyed it. My little one enjoyed looked at all the pictures and animals on the walls, we had a good time. It is pretty affordable, for what you get!
Excellent counter-service seafood joint tucked away in Southlake -- easy to miss if you don't know it's there! This is the sort of fried-seafood/oyster bar I grew up with. Most of their seafood is fried in a cornmeal coating (though there are plenty of non-fried options as well) and plenty of oyster options as well. My whole family has been here twice now and we love it. I've gotten the catfish and shrimp basket both times and it was perfectly fried and delicious. My wife got the Mexican-style Shrimp Cocktail this time and we also split a dozen raw. Their fries seem to be double-fried which is always the way to go. This time my daughter got the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo and insisted I mention that it was "the cheesiest Alfredo she's ever had". My son devoured his bowl of lobster chowder. Mom got shrimp as she always does, and dad had the frog legs; all very good! Also, don't skip on dessert. The bread pudding and the banana pudding are both excellent.
We visited Shuck Me based on a friend's recommendation and we weren't disappointed. What appears to be a plain looking building actually holds a Southlake gem. We were pleasantly surprised with this establishment and will definitely visit again in the future. The decor is traditional with different species of fish mounted on the walls. There is even a pelican on a wooden post by the condiments counter. Upon entry, you go the order counter and simply place your order from the items on the electronic menu board. There is also a selection of hot sauces and other items available for purchase, in addition to items on the menu. We had the daily special, which was a white fish and fries combo, and also ordered the jumbo shrimp (6) combo with fries. The combo also includes a couple of their delicious hush puppies. We also added a cup of lobster soup and a side salad to our meals. The jumbo shrimp were butterflied, dipped in cornmeal, and then deepfried. The way the shrimp are cut, prepared, and fried, the end result looks like a circle or the two sides of the shrimp have been joined together. The food was very good, and we were surprised it wasn't busier, given that it was a Sunday afternoon AND the Cowboys game was being televised! Either way, we will be back.
This is a hidden gem. You really have to know you are going there, and you do want to eat here. I had not had frog legs in years and these were excellent. You get 4 pair with huge amount of fries. My wife had shrimp and catfish with a side of garlic and dill potatoes. She loved the shrimp and potatoes. Catfish was ok. We had an order of bread pudding. It was wonderful. Definitely going to be back.
Would've love to give 5 stars since this was our first visit. My food, lobster chowder and fried pickles was yummy. My chowder hardly had any lobster but at least had good flavor. My husband ordered a grouper poboy and was given catfish instead and his fries were bland. Maybe there was an off night . . .
When your friend says she’s craving oysters, you know what that means—oyster feast time! Fast forward to 4 dozen oysters later, and here’s the scoop. We started with 3 dozen raw Gulf oysters. They hit the spot for our cravings but definitely weren’t the best we’ve had. All three of us agreed they weren’t thoroughly cleaned, which was a bit disappointing. Next up was a dozen grilled garlic butter oysters, but sadly, they didn’t deliver either. They were dry and buried under an overwhelming amount of cheese. Garlic? Butter? Barely there. To mix things up, we ordered a fried catfish basket, which was decent—not mind-blowing, but solid. But here’s where things took a dive: the gumbo. I’m not even sure it was gumbo—it just wasn’t it. Definitely a hard pass. Now, the drinks? They saved the day. Our bartender was an absolute gem—sweet, patient, and ready to help us navigate the drink menu. Bonus: we made it just in time for happy hour, and she did not hold back on the alcohol. Overall, it scratched the oyster craving itch, and the vibes were great, but would we go back? Probably not. Food: 2/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5
Ordered the crab and shrimp boil and it was absolutely horrible. The Crab tasted super old was not even a pound and the butter it came with was odd tasting. As well the potato it came with had no flavor at all. Next the shrimp, it was definitely less than half a pound. It was also dry, not clean, and no seasoning at all though it looks seasoned it tastes like rubber. I wish I could have gotten my $70 back.
