Really cute place! We live about two miles down the road and promised ourselves we’d walk to dinner one day, and today was that day! It was super cute inside - we loved all the photos of the fish catches. The food was super good! I got a fried grouper po’boy, my brother got the hamburger, my mom the fish and chips, and my dad the fried oyster and catfish. We also started with wings and got some frozen margaritas. It came out so fast and was really fresh! Service was friendly and fast - and I appreciated how clean the restaurant was kept. It’s a great place! We’ll be back :)
This is a Diamond in the ruff! Have driven past it probably 30 times and didn’t know! Found on Google search and had awesome reviews. We got there about 5:30 pm and it was perfect timing. Not packed yet. We ordered the Crawfish boil pot 2 lb and my got the fried oysters/shrimp. Everything tasted awesome! The best of the best. If you want a full bar, just order your food in front, then in the back, it’s like a clean hole in the wall! The bartender made perfect cocktails from scratch and then our food was ready so fast. Hung out even after we finished eating. Fun, awesome food, service was great and the atmosphere was perfect! Will be back!!!!
I'm a foodie, I love to find new places to take family, friends or just take myself to have a good meal. This place was recommended by a friend, she wasn't wrong. The food was fresh (this coming from a San Diegan) and very tasty. Come with an appetite, please, you'll thank me. The atmosphere is pretty chill. Expect an easy and relaxing time. I do hear there are times that this place gets busy. Oh! I hear there's live music here as well, but I've yet to experience that... Anyways, pricing is not so bad,it's reasonable for the type and amount of food you're served. Check it out, and there's plenty of parking 😉
We had the ceviche as an appetizer. My husband really liked it but I didn't care for it. We had the fried catfish/shrimp plate and grilled salmon. Both were very good! We will definitely go back.
OH MY GOODNESS!!!! Placed an order of fried Red Snapper, Lobster Mac & sides of corn on the cob, Mexican Rice and beans and beignets. And went home to my Wife who was mad at me to surprise her. Let’s just say that was a good idea. The food was awesome and that’s an understatement. And the service from the staff was great! Worth every $ spent. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some great tasting food in the Southlake Texas area.
This is an order at the counter and pick up your food kind of place. It is surprising how good the food is for no table service restaurant. Nevertheless, it strikes me as a bit pricey, but it's a nice place to treat yourself if you are all about seafood.
Amazing food . Decore was a bit fishy. Price is a little high.. got the combo pot to share with mother. The crab legs(4) small and skinny. One small potatoes and a half of a corn on the cob. Staff could of and should of suggested for us to make a second purchase as they knew we were sharing. Only complaint. Will definitely go again but this time prepared to not share!
The grilled fish and veggies are the best. They have several gluten free options, though no dedicated fryer. Casual, delicious, family restaurant. There is a full bar in the back, separate from family dining. We love it!
The food was really good. I love the oysters, and grouper, my wife loves the shrimp and grits. The atmosphere is great. But we keep going back because of how well you’re treated by the crew that works there. Can’t recommend them enough
Get in line and order from their plentiful menu. They'll help guide you through it if needed. I went for grilled shrimp. It was perfectly grilled and delicious. You can also choose from a list of seasonings as you order,so I chose lemon pepper. So good. There are many choices of sides, too. I went with grilled zucchini and fried okra. The zucchini was just right, not mushy, and the okra is the best I've eaten in a really long time. It was crispy and seasoned just right. When your order is ready your pager will buzz. They have a vast selection of grilled and fried seafood and of course, oysters. I'm going back to try the shrimp and grits or the whole red snapper. The restaurant is a clean rustic casual atmosphere with plenty of seating. It is a stand alone restaurant with their own free parking including easy wheelchair access up front.
Fantastic meal! I had the grilled snapper platter with grilled zucchini and green beans. My husband had the shrimp with rice and beans. Everything was delicious. We also had salads which were fresh and crisp and the Mexican shrimp cocktail. Turns out we prefer traditional shrimp cocktail, but that's just our preference. We will definitely be back.
Fresh catfish perfectly cooked. We go often
Everything was great had the all you could eat catfish. It was delicious, fresh and fried to perfection!!!
Blackend chicken Alfredo was great. With NO MUSHROOMS. Some places out mushrooms and I dislike the taste. Chicken tenders were good , fries were good and shrimp cocktail was also good.
It was fine for my birthday 🎂 but it would've been great if they gave me something for my birthday because I wanted to feel special. Since I am retired.
Catfish. Ask for spicy rub. The grilled fish snapper w spicy garlic butter was good too
Best seafood restaurant and bar in the area. Lobster chowder is 5 star. The bartender, he’s an awesome guy that knows how to keep the drinks and conversation flowing. Key lime pie one of the best in Texas.
It wasn't what I expected, it was better. Our grilled fish was done perfectly & those beans, yumo!! I'll be back to try other dishes. Atmosphere was relaxed & staff great.
We love this place! The ambiance is so inviting, especially when they have live music. I can always go for their lobster chowder & their crawfish 🦞 or shrimp 🦐 & snow crab cluster combo. All their food is great and it is a great family place, our kiddos love it. Only wish they would bring back the prickly pear margarita!
A nice seafood restaurant. Also love the margaritas. I always get the catfish basket It’s delicious. One of my favorite spots to go.
Pleasantly surprised. Driven by this place a bunch and finally decided to stop in. I got the crawfiah po'boy and was not disappointed. The actual crawfish was a bit heavy on the fry batter but was tasty none the less. Sandwhich was well out together and had all the elements you'd want. The fries were good and a super shot out to the shuckpuppies, beat I've had in a while. Will def be back to try something else.
Couldn't have asked for a better meet and greet spot with fantastic oysters! We loved all the seafood!
Excellent food, atmosphere and staff. This is a gem of a place, for the food is authentic, consistent and fresh. The staff is 10/10, too. It’s at the top of my list for places to frequent. I’ve had the fried catfish, calamari and the cole slaw. All were on par with what I’ve had at top seafood places In Mississippi and Louisiana.
Drive by this place all the time and never have time to stop. Finally had family visiting from out of town so we went there for lunch. I had the Po boy shrimp sandwich and loved it! Dad and I shared some Blue Point oysters and they were amazing!!! Very clean establishment and friendly staff. Fun fishing decor and pictures!
Great spot for multiple options for the family in addition to a robust seafood menu. Food is fresh and quite the unique experience in Southlake.
My awesome MIL (mother-in-love) treated my son and I to lunch, along with my DIL & precious granddaughter, here recently for our birthday meal. I had fried oysters and the Lobster Chowder, and take my word that both were DELICIOUS!!! (was my 1st time to try the Lobster Chowder, but certainly will not be my last!!!!)
Great place to go alone or with friends. Separate bar area and outdoor patio. Always fresh oysters!
Shuck Me is a hidden gem for seafood lovers! The fish is always fresh, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right, with generous portions that leave you full and happy. The casual vibe and friendly staff make it a go-to spot for a relaxed, delicious meal.
AW SHUCKS! This place is awesome! An old feed store turned into...well, a "feed store" ! Who knew!! Brilliant menu, happy, funny and helpful staff. Music was not too loud, tables were clean and you would have thought 'Speedy Gonzalez' worked in the kitchen; food was out that fast! First I thought :" OK they've gone weird on me..who serves Mexican beans and rice with grilled salmon?!" But it just seemed interesting so I plunged and ordered it! It was soooo good; I was having a "When Harry met Sally moment" The beans were the BEST I've had in 30+ years in Texas! Salmon was just right and food was HOT! I had really good time. Friday's they have LIVE music. In my opinion this is the place in Keller to experience and keep going back to feel the food! I will go back often... and I'm in Houston! HA! Enjoy!
Ya’ll know seafood is one of my favorites too! It’s a strong first! This is a cute place! Comfortable. Big screen tvs, a bar! The customer service was on point…great conversation! I enjoyed my food, I just would’ve appreciated bigger portion of fish and less French fries! Shrimp was good! Will I eat there again? Yeah, I will!😃 I gotta try that Chicken Fried Steak!😂 Thank you!🙏🏽
The food is always so good! We brought our 12 y/o for her bday since crab is her favorite! We had more than enough food! Service was good, the bartender waited on our table and she was busy busy, but still very attentive! Shuck Me is our go to for local seafood, never too crowded and there are other options on the menu. For the apps and sides: The fried pickles were really good, the hush puppies were fried crispy and delicious! The potatoes with the boil meals were sooo good too! The fried okra was decent, good portion, but not anything special. For meals: the crab legs were good and the peel and eat shrimp was even better. Our meal came with a jalapeño cheddar sausage that was good too.
Our family went after church on Sunday. Food was great and plenty for the price! The gumbo was really really good. We have been looking for a good seafood restaurant and Shuck Me gets our business! Family atmosphere and everyone thought the food was great!
A fun place! Love the friend shrimp dinner and live music. The bar in the back is a perfect casual watering hole. Very comfortable and casual with great food and drinks.
Shuck me is a really cool place, being much larger than it looks! It's somewhat of a hidden gem there in the Southlake area. This is one of the best seafood places I've discovered in a long while - the food is always delicious! My favs are the wings, shrimp & grits, fried catfish/fries/hush puppies😋 Happy Hour is a budget friendly welcome treat during the week! I wish there were more Shuck Me restaurants closer to the mid cities area.
Had a great meal! Convenient counter ordering from an easy to read menu followed by excellent food! The owner was very friendly and gave us some tips on the restaurant. Pictured- 1lb crab, catfish and shrimp combo, 1/2 dozen oysters, calamari. Offered a generous military/ first responder discount too. Much appreciated!!
If you’re not emotionally ready to fall in love with fried seafood, then baby—don’t step foot into Shuck Me. But if you are ready for crispy, buttery, flavor-soaked bliss? Pull up, order at the counter, and get your life together over a basket of catfish and some bangin’ shrimp. First of all, let’s talk about the Bang Bang Shrimp. Y’all. Y’ALL. They lay these golden little bites of heaven over a bed of lettuce and that fluffy white rice like they know exactly what your soul has been missing. The shrimp is perfectly fried—light, crisp, never greasy—with a sweet heat from that creamy bang bang sauce that hits your tongue like a flirty wink. Mix that all together, lettuce and rice included, and suddenly you’re doing math in your head to figure out how often you can come back without becoming a local legend. Now for the Thursday All-You-Can-Eat Catfish Special. Listen, I’m from the South. I know catfish. And this catfish? It brought peace to a two-week catfish craving that had me acting dramatic in public. It’s flaky, tender, and wrapped in the kind of crispy cornmeal breading that makes you want to text your ex and tell them you’ve moved on—to better things. We couldn’t even finish it all, and trust me, we tried. The fries are classic, golden, and reliable—like the friend who always reminds you to hydrate and carry snacks. And the whole vibe of Shuck Me? Casual perfection. You order at the counter (don’t let that fool you—this food deserves a tablecloth and fanfare), then you kick back with your people, soak in the welcoming, rustic atmosphere, and wait for greatness to arrive in a red basket. This isn’t fine dining, darling—it’s fine vibing. It’s comfort food with swagger. It’s the kind of meal that hugs you from the inside out and leaves you planning your return visit before you’ve even made it to the parking lot. In short: Go hungry. Go often. Go with people who will forgive you when you don’t share your shrimp.
Actually I was there to draw caricatures at a company party in back. But I arrived a little early, and when I saw the menu I had to try it out. There are so many options, but I love fish tacos so that was quickly settled. This time I tried the salmon, but I'll be back to give their catfish a whirl.
Had a good time at Shuck me. One thing I do want to note is that the bathrooms were super clean! The food was good! It was hot, and made to order. We got a grouper poboy, catfish, mozzarella sticks, lobster hushpuppies. All of it was good! We enjoyed it. My little one enjoyed looked at all the pictures and animals on the walls, we had a good time. It is pretty affordable, for what you get!
Excellent counter-service seafood joint tucked away in Southlake -- easy to miss if you don't know it's there! This is the sort of fried-seafood/oyster bar I grew up with. Most of their seafood is fried in a cornmeal coating (though there are plenty of non-fried options as well) and plenty of oyster options as well. My whole family has been here twice now and we love it. I've gotten the catfish and shrimp basket both times and it was perfectly fried and delicious. My wife got the Mexican-style Shrimp Cocktail this time and we also split a dozen raw. Their fries seem to be double-fried which is always the way to go. This time my daughter got the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo and insisted I mention that it was "the cheesiest Alfredo she's ever had". My son devoured his bowl of lobster chowder. Mom got shrimp as she always does, and dad had the frog legs; all very good! Also, don't skip on dessert. The bread pudding and the banana pudding are both excellent.
We visited Shuck Me based on a friend's recommendation and we weren't disappointed. What appears to be a plain looking building actually holds a Southlake gem. We were pleasantly surprised with this establishment and will definitely visit again in the future. The decor is traditional with different species of fish mounted on the walls. There is even a pelican on a wooden post by the condiments counter. Upon entry, you go the order counter and simply place your order from the items on the electronic menu board. There is also a selection of hot sauces and other items available for purchase, in addition to items on the menu. We had the daily special, which was a white fish and fries combo, and also ordered the jumbo shrimp (6) combo with fries. The combo also includes a couple of their delicious hush puppies. We also added a cup of lobster soup and a side salad to our meals. The jumbo shrimp were butterflied, dipped in cornmeal, and then deepfried. The way the shrimp are cut, prepared, and fried, the end result looks like a circle or the two sides of the shrimp have been joined together. The food was very good, and we were surprised it wasn't busier, given that it was a Sunday afternoon AND the Cowboys game was being televised! Either way, we will be back.
This is a hidden gem. You really have to know you are going there, and you do want to eat here. I had not had frog legs in years and these were excellent. You get 4 pair with huge amount of fries. My wife had shrimp and catfish with a side of garlic and dill potatoes. She loved the shrimp and potatoes. Catfish was ok. We had an order of bread pudding. It was wonderful. Definitely going to be back.
We have been here several times and enjoy there food. Today we both had the halibut and we thought it could have been spiced better. Bread pudding with whiskey sauce was good. You order at a counter and you pick up your own food. They do get it out fast. Most booths and chairs have no padding. It has a fishing and country vibe to the place. Seperate bar that often has live music on weekends. I looked it up - place has been there for eight years.
The food is solid here, and overall just very predictable, but sometimes you just want a good, reliable, soulful meal as opposed to phenomenal. I usually get this as comfort food when I'm sick, though the dine in experience is actually great because the restaurant is well decorated. The chowders, hush puppies, and beignets are good, and I usually don't bother getting much else because of how consistent those are. 4/5
Been coming here now for just over a year so. The staff has always been great. The food for the most part is so yummy. We went last weekend the fried catfish was amazing, French fries and hush puppies are good too we go for the crawfish sadly this was my one complaint this time around most of our crawfish were soft and had little to no flavor but all in all a good experience
There are many seafood options. The po boy was good. The fries were crispy. There were many lobster items that I didn't try but sounded tasty. The service is unique where you order at the register and seat yourself. The ambiance is casual for sure. It's a good seafood joint, checks the box for a pit stop that will leave you satisfied.
Would've love to give 5 stars since this was our first visit. My food, lobster chowder and fried pickles was yummy. My chowder hardly had any lobster but at least had good flavor. My husband ordered a grouper poboy and was given catfish instead and his fries were bland. Maybe there was an off night . . .
I was not impressed 😕. I had the chicken 🥗 salad. It came with about 3oz of chicken, 2-3 cups mixed greens, 2 slices of cucumber, 2 slices of tomatoes, and hush puppies. My husband had chicken fried steak with mash potatoes. He did not like too much. The rest of our table had a variety of items all looked fried and not impressive. When we arrived the door said they were out of crawfish, however, apparently had 3lbs left and my friend had 1lb for dinner. I did not expect this restaurant to be a self serve style restaurant at the prices they charge.
If you don’t eat seafood and plan to get the chicken tender basket, DON’T. The chicken at Raising Cane’s is more fresh...in fact nothing on my plate was made in-house. Husband says the oysters are good. 3 stars solely for the oysters that my husband was craving, but there are better places out there.
The atmosphere is casual but cute. Service is good, staff is friendly. Not crazy about Gumbo as I'm use to Cajun style but they tried! Will give it another try and order something different. Coldest beer in town on draft. Great!
Food is mediocre as with many fried fish restaurants. There is no table service - you receive a buzzer to retrieve your order, and condiments are self serve, like a fast food restaurant. However, they present you with a credit card reader with preset tips before receiving anything. Seats in the restaurants are hard benches, and the tables are sticky. Beer is cold, but they charge imported prices for domestic beers (Blue Moon is brewed in Colorado but priced on my receipt as imported) - what's that about. Save yourself a couple of dollars and go to Long John Silvers.
Never have I had this happen before . I got up to go get my self a refill on my drink and when I came back the lady had cleaned off my table . When I told her what she had done she went and got it from all the garbage she had on her cart. I told her never mind . But She did not speak English . So I went and told the young man at the counter what had happened and all he said was sorry . So I left with only getting to eat half my lunch. Not cool !
If you like food with seasoning, you should bring your own. The service was great, super nice people, super fast service. The place was really nice looking and we had high hopes. The food looked good and was generous in size but then we tasted it. We ordered the Mexican style shrimp cocktail(spicy) for the appetizer. It was sooooooo sweet. No spice. Needed salt, lime, anything else. The only note it had was super sweet. Very strange. My husband got a sampler plate which included, fried shrimp, catfish, oyster, hush puppy and fries. No seasoning in any of it. The fries were good. Tartar sauce tasted like it was Kraft. I got the fried catfish tacos. Tortillas were like you would get straight out of a store-bought bag and never saw a skillet, oven or griddle. Cat fish was long whole fried fillets instead of pieces like you would normally find in a taco. No seasoning in the breading, no flavoring in the fish. The other taco filling was a slaw with some bitter leaf in it and maybe mayo, very bland. Pico de Gallo, no lime or salt, no spice. A sauce that tasted like mayo and malt vinegar. Mexican rice, no flavor. The pinto beans were good. We paid $65 for this train wreck plus tip, which they asked for up front, so over $70 for counter service style dining that was very disappointing.
When your friend says she’s craving oysters, you know what that means—oyster feast time! Fast forward to 4 dozen oysters later, and here’s the scoop. We started with 3 dozen raw Gulf oysters. They hit the spot for our cravings but definitely weren’t the best we’ve had. All three of us agreed they weren’t thoroughly cleaned, which was a bit disappointing. Next up was a dozen grilled garlic butter oysters, but sadly, they didn’t deliver either. They were dry and buried under an overwhelming amount of cheese. Garlic? Butter? Barely there. To mix things up, we ordered a fried catfish basket, which was decent—not mind-blowing, but solid. But here’s where things took a dive: the gumbo. I’m not even sure it was gumbo—it just wasn’t it. Definitely a hard pass. Now, the drinks? They saved the day. Our bartender was an absolute gem—sweet, patient, and ready to help us navigate the drink menu. Bonus: we made it just in time for happy hour, and she did not hold back on the alcohol. Overall, it scratched the oyster craving itch, and the vibes were great, but would we go back? Probably not. Food: 2/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5
We went here tonight for dinner since it is my Birthday and we thought we would try somewhere new. This was our very first time dining here and WOW what a complete disappointment! For our appetizers we ordered the Alligator bites & fried pickles which were awful, zero seasoning. For our dinners we ordered the Whole Red Snapper, which was fried way too long which made it extremely dry and no seasoning in the batter. My daughter order the grilled Salmon which had absolutely ZERO seasoning, was super thin and it too was extremely dry. I order the 12 fried shrimp which were pounded so thin, fried way too long and they too were dry with zero seasoning in the cornmeal batter. Our bill was over $115 for 3 of us which the food was definitely not worth it. The manager came by and asked how everything was and we expressed to her how disappointed we were with the service and the food and that it was our first time here and we wouldn't be back. She said Oh I'm sorry and walked away! Needless to say we will not be back!! If I could give zero stars I would Chef Robert Irvine & Chef Gordon Ramsay would have a whole lot to say about the food in this establishment. I honestly do not know how this place stays in business with food this bad. They must have good drinks
Ordered Blue Point oysters, and crab legs. Waited for 20 minutes for my food, at which time both the oysters and crab legs were brought up at the same time. Whatever, I can overlook that. Oysters were terribly small. I know this particular species is smaller, but these were tiny. I asked for Cajun crab legs when I ordered, was served plain with no seasoning. The lady just gave me I small cup with some dry seasoning in it. Ok, strike two. The final straw was how poor the crab legs were. I understand that we’re are in the middle of the country, days away from fresh ones. However these were not fresh and overcooked (with no seasoning). Terrible food. Atmosphere was good. But that’s about all this place has going for it. I’ve been to a few of this particular franchise and this was by far the worst experience. I figured for $80 that they would hit on something. Good oysters? No. Good crab legs? No. Friendly service? No.
The food we ordered was very disappointing. The hush puppies were cold and greasy. The grease dripped from them , the steamed shrimp were hard as rubber and the fried fish and shrimp was cold and greasy. The oil was not hot enough and it set on the counter to long before they called us. The beer on tap is deceiving I ordered a large beer after that ordered a small beer and poured it into the the large mug and it filled it. If that wasn’t enough the party that was sitting beside us dropped an entire tray of food on my wife what a mess. They were nice enough to help us some of the staff came by and did nothing. One and done long John seafood is better.
Why do you have a curbside pick up option when no one picks up the call. I called several times & no one helped me. Went in and the lady at the to-go stand was just standing there not attending to anyone and the restaurant was literally empty. I let her know that Ive been calling & no one picked up, she cut me short, didn’t apologize & told me my order was ready. Very disappointing service!
I ordered the red snapper cajun style and it was so dry. I had to use a knife to cut it up. Red snapper is usually flaky. My husband ordered the grouper, spicy garlic flavor and it was very flavorless. Just like the hush puppies. My son got the tilapia that was under seasoned and over cooked. Overall, the food was not great at all and I wonder how this place has 4 1/2 stars.
3 of us ate there. We are not picky eaters. But all grilled platters were under seasoned and over cooked. Tilapia / grouper and red snapper all not worth 75 dollars. Hush Puppies over cooked and dry . Not going back
Food was terrible, it was very. it was very greasy. It was not fresh. The lobster bisque was old. The grease they fried the catfish in was old. I was very disappointed through half of it in the trash. My response was not that I would take down the review in exchange for a refund. My response was that I wanted a refund, and I was willing to kindly take down the review If you gave me a refund, but apparently you don't care whether or not I spend my hard earned money and you kept my money, so I won't be eating there anymore. So what does it matter?
We stopped by for lunch and were very disappointed. We expected to pay a lot for seafood but $73 for a sandwich, a dozen oysters and a pot wasn’t worth it here. The shrimp was over cooked with a weird taste (definitely reheated) and not your usual pot. No sausage, one potato and one corn ($25) and the French fries with our po boy were undercooked… cold and mushy. We love a good pot and po boy and that was not it.
Talked to Francisca the manager today, and she was not nice. Don’t think it’s right to get charged when you are charged for condiments while you are eating at the restaurant. The prices have gone up drastically and we get it, the economy blah blah!! But to charge for the condiments it’s just terrible! Don’t come here, because there are several other seafood places where you can get free condiments and you get treated better.
I came here for my birthday and ordered almost 200 dollars worth of food and drinks. We ordered several orders of the oysters the catfish baskets, the crab hush puppies, beer and a few other items including the banana pudding dessert. That evening I got VERY VERY SICK and so did my husband. My husband and I suffered for two days and when I got the chance and called to share my concern, I spoke with the manager who said she’d get it over to the owner who wants to help make this right. That man NEVER CALLED US TO SEE IF WE WERE OK OR EVEN ALIVE AFTER BEING VIOLENTLY ILL FOR TWO DAYS ABSOLUTELY RUINING MY BIRTHDAY! I gave them one week to get back to me and still haven’t heard from ANYONE. I refrained from posting anything as I tried to give them an opportunity to “make things right”. The customer service was great and the people there were kind, however, the food was clearly bad. I do not recommend going as they wouldn’t take a situation, that’s serious like this, and at least check on us. I have a kid in the hospital and decided to get away and enjoy myself with a night out on my birthday only to be down for two days. Not only is it irresponsible to not check on your guests, it’s rude to not even use the information to see if you all could’ve had bad food. Be careful yall!
Ordered the crab and shrimp boil and it was absolutely horrible. The Crab tasted super old was not even a pound and the butter it came with was odd tasting. As well the potato it came with had no flavor at all. Next the shrimp, it was definitely less than half a pound. It was also dry, not clean, and no seasoning at all though it looks seasoned it tastes like rubber. I wish I could have gotten my $70 back.
