The seat yourself was a little confusing, especially since there seemed to be a party in the other hall and most of the servers attentions were there. But the waitress that served us was very nice and attentitive. The restaurant itself was very relaxing and beautiful so the wait wasn't noticeable

Ate lunch at around 2:30pm on a Saturday, and the server Donna was amazing! The food was delicious and plentiful. I recommend you give this restaurant a try. They have new owners and the atmosphere is delightful.

A downtown Stockton landmark, Cancun has a unique interior and great location by the movie theater. The food is classic and great-tasting. The combination plates ate great for those who love a variety of Mexican food. The super burritos are gigantic and a great value. Service is competent and quick. It's my preferred Mexican restaurant when I'm downtown.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The food comes quickly and is delicious. I have been here with large groups and they offer the drinks at a serving area so everyone can help themselves as often as they need. They take the orders quickly and the food comes out warm and yummy! I highly recommend Cancuns for a great dining experience!

This restaurant offers delicious food at reasonable prices, and the ambiance is pleasant with excellent service. Although there were a couple of instances where there were service issues, the staff was quick to address and resolve them. Overall, I've had a wonderful experience there on multiple occasions, and I understand that mistakes can happen.

Love this restaurant! My husband and I were downtown this weekend for a meeting and happened to see the restaurant. The decor and ambience is AWESOME, and the staff are ultra friendly. Service was superb and so were our meals. Love their homemade (daily!) salsa & chips as well as their refried beans, rice, chicken enchilada and Chile Colorado Burrito. Free parking in back and on a nearby street as well. The prices are great and we wish we lived closer. We will definitely return.

This restaurant has a great atmosphere, nice staff. Our server Margarita, was very nice and yes that was her name. Food was great portions but I would have liked a little more spice to it. Over all very good and will be returning for sure.

Hi, always a great place to eat. The food is plentiful and a very reasonable prices. The service is prompt and attentive to you by checking on you often. The food is flavorful without the overpowering fire that ruins so much good Mexican food and hides the real flavor of the food. You can request it that way but that is your choice. The salsa actually has a good flavor without much heat. They use Grubhub for delivery are not too crowded because of the stay-at-home business. They have been in business for years as I remember going there when I was in college. The building they are in use to be the old Chase Chevrolet dealership when it was located in downtown They have full drink service and make changes to suit customer requests. Always a most pleasant dining experience.

My family has been coming here since I was a child and even though I have new favorite restaurants this is still the the place with the best enchilada gravy in town to me. Also I've never had a dry meal here and they've always had a wonderful price to plate size ratio. You definitely get your money's worth here!

Excellent location for delicious Mexican food on a budget! Very affordable menu with the option of Chicken Nuggets and Fries for a kids entree if your child is not a huge fan of Mexican food. Caution though that the Chicken Nuggets take a while to cook! However, the rest of our meal arrived very quickly! Very friendly and courteous staff who was very attentive to us and all other guests at the restaurant. Highly recommend!

It is the first place we dine-in since the Covid 19. It was very nice quiet and relaxed. We ate enjoyed and the waitress was good she made everything enjoyable. Great traditional Mexican food with a great price, cheaper than going to fast food restaurants. Serves beer and mixed drinks. Staff are excellent and beautiful. Best spot in downtown Stockton and a 2 min walk to the waterfront.

Since the new owners took over, the food is fire. If you're looking for a gray chili Colorado, this is the place. The servers are so sweet and I get to enjoy a nice refreshing drink with my meal. The salsa is delicious and good portions. Donna is an amazing server. Make sure to sit in her section. She is great 😁👍

I went to Cancun restaurant on a Monday afternoon with a group of people. We ate the salsa like it was soup because it was so good. The waitress brought each of us a bowl of our own and more chips! I was the only one who got a top shelf frozen margarita from the bar, and it was reasonably priced. I ate the Chicken Enchiladas Verde, and it was delicious. The service was great, and the atmosphere was enchanting. I enjoyed my lunch.

Been eating here for 25+ years and it still tastes the same. We only make it to Stockton a couple times of year, but when we do we come here. This is the Mexican restaurant I judge all others by. We always get an order of gravy and cheese with our chips and salsa, so good. The #1 combination is my favorite. Update: This place does not disappoint. Another great meal at Cancun's.

My family and I have been going to Cancun Restaurant for over 20 years now. My mom and dad would take us out for dinner every once and a while and the service was always great everyone was welcoming with a smile on their faces. The food was always so good! Even today as my kids are growing up I can bring them here and enjoy my time with them and have a delicious dinner or lunch with them! We've never been disappointed here.

It's a place where I know the food quality to be consistent. I've gone there for years. Yes, sometimes you will have to wait too long for your food. Yes, sometimes the waitresses aren't friendly or personable. However those things can and will happen at any restaurant. So as long as your expectations aren't that of fine dining, you should leave Cancun with a full stomach and a to-go box.

Hadn't come here in a while due to extremely poor service the prior couple times I came in. But I like their food and with Casa Flores on the Miracle Mile closed they are open later then most places. The service was fantastic this time and glad that we can come back soon instead of waiting 6-9 months to see if something changes. The food has always been good and remains so. Hope the positive change holds for my next visit.

I've been eating here for almost 30 years (when it was across the street in a smaller building) My favorite Mexican restaurant in Stockton. Small portion sides but the best rice and great chips and salsa. Service is either really fast or really slow. But we'll always keep coming back.

Best lunch plate! Green sauce has some, but won't hurt you. Presentation was appetizing. Lots of space for distancing and the booths are just that big. Jennifer was pleasant and attentive.

Been going to Cancun since 1978, before they moved to where they are now. Food is consistently good, always know what to expect. The gravy is the best! Would be great if they still sent chips home with to go orders & also tomato with entries salad. Service-ok.

Throughout the years, I have enjoyed many meals here. We love getting gravy and cheese with our chips. I love the food, but the atmosphere continues to go downhill. They need to do something about the bathrooms. Every time we go, we imagine how this must have been 15-20 years ago. The decor and details with ample seating must have made this the go-to spot downtown. With a bit of love, this place could be that once more. At least the food is delicious!

My family hosted a family gathering recently here in their large dining area. Everyone seemed pretty happy with the food. I ordered several times at the bar. Friendly ladies and drinks were all on point. Prices were reasonable. They allowed us to play music too.

The food is good and the waitress is very polite. They just take a while before actually coming to your table. There was only two waitresses when I was there. Also it can feel a bit lonely if you go alone. They dont have music to listen to like other restaurants. Other than that though, I really like the place.

Very happy with the service and food. Will be going there again.

09/04/2024 We had the lunch specials. I ordered the beef enchilada, and my friend ordered the chicken quesadilla. The orders came with beans and rice. They brought out a basket of chips and salsa. The salsa tasted fresh and was not too spicy. When the order came out, the quesadilla was beef not chicken. The food was good, about the same as other Mexican restaurants. The customer service was very good. They checked on us a few times. There was parking in the back of the restaurant.

I door dashed Cancuns and liked it just as much as Casa flores and and Senior frogs. Cancuns prices are a lot lower than other Mexican restaurants, I'm not sure how people can say they're over priced

Friday was a good day to enjoy mexican food so I went to try from Cancun for the first time. got a combination order of a steak quesadilla and enchiladas which came quite fast since I was the first one. the sauce was good like the quesadilla and I sure do hope I get to try a drink from here some time soon

Very nice. Different flavors for Mexican food than I'm used to. Good portions. Filling. Ordered beef enchiladas and Huevos Rancheros. Sorry forgot to take plate pictures. Drinks were awesome. Heard the tamales were not made there. So opted not to order them. Overall good choice.

The food is good, just make sure you. Check your food order if you order over the phone or on an app. I went to pick up a big order, for my boss and her family. I didn't check it, thinking snice thier were not so busy it would fine. NOPE thier was missing 6 tacos. Which I called and took for ever to answer the phone. Explain to the girl on the phone. She no worries bring your receipt today before we close or tomorrow. They will make it right. But I mean come on I completely understand if they were like hella busy. But wasnt that busy. So always check your food..

Poor POOR service. Friend ordered a drink from the bar and waitress said the bartender would be right back 20 or more minutes later this bartender came back only to have the waitress make the drinks herself anyway. Talking about portion control if I wanted an quesadilla without (tender) meat I could have bout a package of tortillas and eaten at home saving my 💰 it was alsi lacking flavor. I was extremely disappointed in the whole experience.

Had a large group for a birthday and they made us pay a $30.00 fee to reserve it. When we got there they weren't ready for us and ended up putting us in the back room. We only had 1 waitress, but she pushed thru and did a pretty good job. Then they failed to subtract the $30.00 fee.

Cancun hasn't been like they used to. The food is different. The prices went up. I ordered a shrimp tostada, and it was not your traditional shrimp tostada. It was missing something. Tasted flavorless. Just not the same. Some waitresses could use a little more training. I'll give them a 3 star because there was a time when Cancun was great.

Cancun Restaurant used to be a go-to spot with a lively atmosphere and great food. Unfortunately, it feels like things have gone downhill. Portion sizes have noticeably shrunk, while prices have continued to climb. It’s disappointing to see a once-popular place lose the value it was known for.

Was NOT what I expected. Chicken taco was greasy and made with boiled chicken and had lettuce and cheese…beef enchilada was cubed beef and not very flavorful…rice was good…beans were not. Chips and salsa were ok…nice restaurant and hostess was very nice…bathroom smelled like wet laundry that was about to mildew…overall I don’t think I would go back. Wasn’t what I expected with a name like Cancun.

This place used to be amazing, it has great potential. They just urgently need to get it remodeled. The ladies that helped us tried their best but there's only so much they can do. The restrooms were gross food was edible but not great. They definitely need new cups and dishes we all got different sizes and color. they even served us a shot in a measuring cup. I really hope they renovate and bring this restaurant back to its glory days. Love the walls and art.

🎭When my mom & I entered had to say, " Hello anyone here ". They got my 1 enchilada mixed up in the same bag my mom said separate from the main please. Had to rip open the bag they didn't give a new bag and there was no napkins . Which is sad because it's good food but the service is bad. Last time I was here I got food poisoning from the taco salad in 2018. I mean I love the quesadilla because I can't find that style any where else so would only come back for that as a To Go. 🎭

Service was really slow which wasn't a big issue, we weren't in a huge hurry but the food especially the beef taco and burrito, was not good. The beef was more like jerky than tender and juice. We will not be going back.

Me and my family have been coming to this restaurant since I can remember. But lately the servers have been rood and seems like I bother them when I ask them for something. I had gotten ice tea and I do like putting sugar to make my own sweet tea I had gotten a refill and of course needed sugar to remake it sweet the waitress told me I would have to pay for the sugar ? I let it go but then I went again. told my order to my waitress I had changed my mind before she evan left the table take orders and asked her if I can change and order she said no you already ordered you cannot change it . ? I was in disbelief of how she responded to me and so serious . I don't know what's gotten into these servers. The women in the front was absolutely the only one that was nice I told her about my experience both days and she recommended I leave a service review which I did the first time

Nice size place but the food is bland and has no flavor. I got a chicken enchilada and beef tamale, i asked for red sauce only and no gravy, instead of just red enchilada sauce I got both sauces on my dish. It didnt make it taste any better it was nasty. It was like they boiled a bunch of chicken to make all the dishes they needed and they can quickly put dishes together. A little salt and pepper would of helped it some, but not very much

First time at this restaurant. Good atmosphere, though it could use some music. Waitresses were okay. The food was slightly okay. I've been to Mexican restaurants and this was below what I expected. Food quality and taste is low. But prices are low. Food tastes the same as bulk ordered school food.

First time I've been here & likely the last. Limited seating. They had half the dining area closed off. Wait service was slow. Ordered a michelada. I don't reccomend you do that. When our food came it was under seasoned & just warm. I had asked for some salsa to add some flavor to my food they said they only had the same as they serve with the chips. She ended up bringing me the extra sauce from the meat I ordered. But by 3 yr old son's nuggets & fries were so hot, like they literally just came out of the frier, that he couldn't eat them

Just came from a funeral and we needed somewhere to eat. Not living or knowing my way around Stockton California we just landed at this location. I gave it two-stars. The food was nowhere near being authentic and to be brutally honest wasn't very good. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

So much potential but really a disappointing experience. We used to love coming here but it’s really deteriorating. Service was average maybe even a little unfriendly. Food was bland, though my mom says she loves the rice, I personally was not impressed. We came once for dinner and thought it was maybe an off night, came back after a couple weeks for lunch and was not any better. It was dark inside, bathrooms stink sooo bad like sewer. No baby changing table. Carpet floors looked dirty. At one point someone turned some neon lights on the wall on and they started sparking and smoking and we were worried it would start a fire and they just said “oh” when we pointed it out and then the whole thing shorted and turned off. Pretty sketchy. Then the server delivered our check while we were eating and came back a minute later looking all over our table for payment (while we were still eating) so we said we haven’t paid yet, we’re still eating… and she said “I’m leaving, now.” So we put down our forks and started to figure out the check while she stood there, very awkward. I’d love to see this place refreshed, so much potential!

I’ve been eating at this restaurant for over 30 years. I was so disappointed on my last few visits. Service has gotten horrible. The salsa is not the same and when I ask for flour tortillas, they only bring you one then they acted like it was a burden when I asked for a straw. don’t think I’ll be returning.

Nice building. Rice, salsa, and beans were excellent. Has a price discrepancy between online and in person. Didn't honor online price. My chile relleno was bottom of the barrel. The outside was not crispy. Soggy pancake like texture. It didn't have enought time to get soggy because I ate it less than 2 minutes after I received it. It taste like it was pre-prepared for the sake of speed. Ive had excellent chilie relleno for similar prices in Stockton and was extremely pleased, not this place. A good chile relleno is the bar if a Mexican restaurant is good or great..sorry y'all failed. I knew something was wrong when they came out so fast. (Opinion is valid because I used to cook for a living/4th year culinary school dropout)

For a Mexican restaurant to be called Cancun , my expectations may have been too high. Pricey and the food tasted more like can food instead of cancun vibes. It was decent at best. Walmart tamale sellers or even people on the side of road sell better tamale. Maybe try another place before this one.

Food was horrible. Small portions and zero taste. Also is took forever for anyone to serve us and it was lunch time and there was only a few people in there. And my friend joined us with her service dog. They wouldn't serve her and asked her for her paperwork and treated her horribly. All in all it was not a good experience we were disappointed and will never be back

Called last night to place an order to go. I had to call about 15 times before I got something before voicemail. I repeated my order tothe lady af least 4 times. Picked it up& they gave me somebody else’s order & then realized it before they had me pay. Gave me my order which seemed alittle pricey but paid & left. When home they gave me 2 extra orders. My container was broken & sauce all over the bag. Asked for gravey on beans & rice but none. Use to love this place but this is the 3rd time something like this has happened. I am done here. Where did the customer service go?

Very slow service...food was cold the beans actually had a crust on them. I asked for Carne asada and was told they didn't have that so I had a beef taco. The meat tasted like canned roast beef. There were 2 other people in the restaurant at the time so for the service we received and the cold food we definitely won't be returning.

12-29-22 Funeral lunchen for 40. Worst I have experienced in a long time. They were unprepaired, 1 waitress with a bad attitude, had to pick up our own silverware, menu prices were wrong, wine prices were wrong. Last time I will go there.

I will not visit here again. Ever. Service was slow as molasses. On my last visit, the bartender left her customers to talk on her phone and clients were waiting for drinks. Our order was wrong and took forever to fix. Employees were chatting amongst each other and had no care in the world about their paying customers. I remember years ago walking in and being greeted with a smile and good hot food pumped out of the kitchen. This place has lost its touch.

Horrible service! They gave us a good size bone in our enchilada dinner meat. We almost choked! This has happened several times and the last time we let them know and talk to the manager. The owner/ manager was very rude! Didn't apologize. We told him it could have been a child to choke on those hidden bones! He didn't offer any solution nor anything. He got enfuriated and didn't offer us anything as to slmost choking on this bone in the food!

I was excited to try this place because I heard its one of the best in Stockton. I will NEVER go back... First i had 2 bugs (possibly gnats) in the margarita I ordered... Second the Super Burrito was horrible. I've had better burritos from local food trucks... Third flies kept flying around me and other guest in the restaurant... Very disappointed and wont return. I do not recommend! Shut the place down!

I been coming to Cancun for years and loved it. Now under new management everything has changed. Food has changed and prices jumped up big time. They charge for refills on sodas. We waiting about and hour and half to get our food. Very disappointed. Won’t be coming back.

If I could zero I would. The food was horrible. The beans tasted only like lard and were obviously from a can. The rice was undercooked. I had the beef enchiladas and the beef quesadilla, the meat is too chunky and flavorless. They added a weird sauce to the quesadilla, and was very soggy. The food was lukewarm when delivered to the table. The service is bad, she keeps throwing the stuff on the table and being very harsh and fast wanting yo leave before we can ask for something else. The ladies bathroom was nasty, you can see the pee and a there was a large cockroach dead in the corner of the Handicap stall. I ended up throwing inside the restaurant a d outside as well. The horchata was watered down and tasted like rag water. The place is also very dark. Would not recommend

We won't be going back. Even though we have gone there a very long time. Chips tasted stale and cheap and I don't mind paying more for good food but the food was not worth the price. We will be finding another Mexican restaurant , its one thing to buy a restaurant but they should have kept the same products and recipes. I'm bummed.

I’ve been going here for over 20 years. They’re under new management. I just went a week ago, I left my stuff at the table while I went to the bathroom and my table was cleared. I was not done eating. They took all my food away and when I went back to the table they handed me my water that I had also left. I felt so rushed. I will never come back!

Very poor service, RACISM at its finest!!! Local veteran recently enrolled in the Stockton police academy, who has been eating at this restaurant since 1990. Since I've been home have tried to enjoy a meal at this establishment four times with my wife and children. I've had to walk out 3 out of 4 times. I have waited until now to right a review out of loyalty to the restaurant and to keep support of a local businesses positive. My children and I were given dirty glasses with rings around them, no silver ware as well as attitude for no apparent reason. I have spoken to management and still no changes have been made. Comments made in Spanish were not appropriate for any place, business or American. As well as cold food, nothing like I grew up on. I plead with anyone who has a continence please do not bring your families or business with such poor service and a horrible rate and review score even prior to my rating.

Disgusting meat it's like eating mouthfuls of fat chunks and on my chicken I was chewing sand or dirt. I had an order doordashed and I was literally picking through and removing fat and chewy chunks. It has been many years since the last time I came here to Cancun Restaurant. I have my reasons why and will not be sharing. I did order my food to go. Service was fast and smooth. When I opened my order, everything looked really good However, I saw a tiny roach like bug come out from under the chip bag!!!! I didn’t take a picture because the bug lived a short life. I will say, things have NOT changed from Cancun Restaurant.

FOOD POISONING!! This place is absolutely awful! Disgusting. I wish I could rate it ZERO stars. Overpriced garbage! My spouse and I ordered 2 dinner meals, a quesadilla dinner and a taco salad. The chicken in both meals was cold! It didn't even look thoroughly cooked. There was no flavor on anything, even the salsa was terrible. The plates were cold that they brought our meals out on! The water tastes like toilet water. I wouldn't even serve my dog this slop! The owners of this business should be ashamed, this place should be shut down! Neither of the 2 meals were able to be eaten and they still tried to charge me almost $30! After voicing my complaint, they took the cost of one meal away but STILL made me pay almost $15 for one of the meals and neither one was edible. So, basically, Cancun stole my money and gave me food poisoning! DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT, SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!
