Very good orange chicken, nice and crisp with the right amount of hotness, and enough to satisfy without overdoing it. Tea and white rice included in the lunch special. The hot & sour soup was good, but somewhat heavy on the carrots and no meat. The service was friendly and prompt. Had lunch there on a weekday and most of the customers seemed to be businessmen talking business; the atmosphere was a bit like being in a large conference. Some Chinese music over the speaker system would have helped.
Just fantastic! Their homemade chili oil is awesome - gotta go get their dim sum!
Highly recommended! Food was good, service was good, atmosphere was good. We came with young adults and teenagers from Canada for some shopping on a long weekend when it's hard to find a good restaurant, and decided to try this one and it was great.
As a fairly picky Japanese Taiwanese American, I stopped here on my way back to VT from visiting family in Ontario. I was impressed by how good the foods tasted. Will come back to sample their beef noodles and tantan men. Very clean bathroom and relaxing atmosphere. Iced water is a huge plus.
This is not the food court version of Chinese food. Authentic as you will find . One read of the menu and you know this is a place that caters to those from the region. Traditional dishes served in a traditional way. If your looking for sweet and sour chicken with a bright orange sauce ... This is not your place. I gave it a 5 based on food and environment alone . It's lacking a little in service but it's casual and some of that is to be expected ( I.e. you may have to flag the wait staff down yourself to get more water ) ... If I could have given a 4 1/2 I would have. Definitely better than a 4 star rating but not 5 star fine dining either. A really great place if you want to experience Szechuan Chinese cuisine.
Comfortable spot with lots of seating and amazing authentic Chinese food. Good mix of American-Chinese staples on a very large menu. Helpful and friendly staff and usually very little wait for a seat given the number of seats. The robot busboy is a little odd at first but the interior is comfortable and down-to-earth.
Just found this place love it. I have only eaten here twice. I will work my way through the whole menu.
Very delicious!! The parking lot was packed so we were a little worried about a wait, but we went in and were sat right away. A server quickly approached us to take our drink order (we had a Jasmine milk tea with bubbles and an Assam milk tea with jelly, both were good) Highly recommend B10- Xiao long bao(soup dumplings) and B11 cha shu bun. Also ordered the (3×3) steamed and fried buns for dessert and they were very yummy!
The food is delicious, and the service is truly exceptional, even better than you could imagine
Delicious!!! We ordered several appetizers including the cold sesame noodles, soup dumplings, and egg custard buns. All were so good and would order again. I had a whole braised fish (Szechuan style) for the main. Huge portion and so yummy! Will be coming back asap.
Some of the best food in Upstate New York. Very authentic all the flavors. If you are looking for something with all the flavors go here be sure to order authentic dishes. If you like spicy this a great place for you. The people that work here are the best.
The most authentic Chinese food in Syracuse. Highly recommend it. I warn you...the Dry pot food is extremely spicy hot!!!
Tremendous atmosphere, speedy service and delicious food. This hidden gem of Syracuse is one of my most favorite Chinese restaurants in the city of Syracuse. A lot of people haven't tried it yet so I always bring company and they're never disappointed. My favorite item is the soup dumplings. I have to say everything I've had was delicious and if you like spice be ready for the heat. I hope to stop by again soon.
Amazing food and great service. It was very busy the last time we went so it took a bit longer to get the check than normal m the food came out super fast. The staff apologized but it just means we got to visit with friends longer. I never feel like they are in a rush to get us out like some places I've been to. The food is always amazing
The place is pretty. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food is phenomenal! I'm only visiting for a short while but I am going to get more before I leave.
I went to this restaurant a few weeks ago, and honestly, it was really good! The place is cozy, the food is fresh and tasty, and the portions are just right. The staff were super friendly, which made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. I still remember how good it was—I’ll definitely be back! :)
Beautiful decor, fabulous food, drinks, and service! Highly recommend. Apologies for no photos...was enjoying myself too much to take out the phone while there!
First time trying hot pot and the food was delicious! It’s a fun easygoing experience. It got busy after we arrived so make sure you’re patient and also comfortable getting the attention of the staff if they don’t notice you right away. The menu is hugeee but descriptive. For hotpot you have to let them know before they sit you down so they can sit you at the limited hotpot tables, then you mark what you’d like on the menu (starting with your liquid base and then meat and veggies) and they bring it to you, you cook and eat! Easy. Will definitely return!
This is my favourite restaurant in all of Syracuse. If you like good flavors and authentic Chinese food, try this place out. This is a favourite of my best Chinese friends as well, so you know it’s legit! There’s even a cute little robotic server that makes you feel like you’re eating in a special future where there’s amazing food.
The decor and atmosphere was nice and clean. The food was delicious and came out relatively quickly. The use of the serving robot was interesting. The dishes were quite mild despite how some of them looked. The double cooked pork was great, the general Tso was nice and crispy. Overall, reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
This is one of our favorites in Syracuse. They have very delicious and lip smacking Sichuan style Chinese food. We had the dry braised chicken and pork with bamboo shoots , this time. The quantity of any main course is good enough for two people. Each main course is served with a bowl of rice. You can get more rice for an extra charge. The interior is nicely decorated and looks very oriental. Servers are very attentive. They deliver the food real quick and there is also a robot server !!!
Amazing food. Very large menu. Something for everyone. I got the hot pot frog legs. Very good but the frog legs were not whole they were cut up. A little difficult to eat without getting bones. The egg custard buns for an appetizer was good. Never had them before. Very sweet. I was not expecting that. The service is ok. Not very attentive and didn’t ask about dessert. Our other appetizer arrived after the entree had been served. I think they are still getting use to being open to seating customers. Give it a try. I think you will like it, especially if you like Szechwan food.
Absolutely incredible. Was in Syracuse for work and chose to stop by here. I’m very picky about my Szechuan cuisine. This place is one of the best. The beef noodle sichuan broth was one of the best I’ve ever had. Speaks to Syracuse that they’re succeeding here. This is as good as any place in Taipei, NYC, or Chicago
stopped by on our way back from niagara falls. the best chinese food you can find around here. id suggest getting the dan dan noodles, mapo tofu, the schezuan chicken and the boiled fish, we got other dishes too but these were excellent. the service was very good as well. the servers were very nice and polite and the ambiance is great. the food came very fast and we ate all of it. definitely would come again!
This place might be the hidden treasure of Syracuse. First of all, the atmosphere is BEAUTIFUL. The service is wonderful, always checking in on you, and they even use robots to help deliver the food which is an awesome blend of new and traditional. The sesame chicken lunch meal was incredible and perfectly portioned. The sauce, while red which was unique, has subtle hints of toasted sesame oil and is strong enough to carry the meal with white rice. The wonton soup was good enough to make sure there was not a drop left, with heavy spring onion flavoring and delicious wontons. The Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) were perfect and are served in the steamer. I was instantly reminded of my trips throughout Asia with the authentic flavor and I was happy this was my coworkers' first experience with them. Highly recommend for a wide variety of foods and authentic seasoning, plus a truly unique experience.
Food is amazing, nice atmosphere. Had some durian cakes and Kung pao chicken, they brought me some nice dumplings for free and pecking duck ( by mistake ) that I didn't even order and also didn't charge me for it. My only complaint is that when I entered the restaurant, I was standing there for a while and nobody talked to me. I held eye contact with the waiters for like 5 minutes, still no acknowledgement of my presence until I actually interrupt them and ask if someone's gonna talk to me. Then it was all good. It's definitely a great place and I would go back regardless of that small mistake , just perhaps organize the reception a little bit better. 100% authentic Chinese food.
This is a new favorite of my wife and myself. They have an amazing large menu that would be difficult to get board of. This is the cleanest restaurant in Syracuse. The food is as amazing at it looks. Delicious it it worth a try especially if you have been on the fence. The atmosphere is great as well as the staff. This place truly checks off all the boxes.
I was shocked walking into this restaurant on how nice it is inside. Its fancy inside. The prices are very reasonable. The presentation of their food is very good . It's a very cool place. The one thing I will say that we had a little issue with was they did keep coming back to the table to check on us. Which we wanted to order more stuff. I will be back , the food is very good and we were served fast like maybe 10 minutes. We were the only people that were in there at that time . Very good food.
My go to authentic Szechuan Chinese restaurant in Syracuse. Love the authentic taste. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. Staffs are friendly too and the service is impeccable.
Wonderful food! The people are very friendly. We had a great family meal!
We ended up here as a last minute change of plans for dinner. We arrived a bit past 4PM on a Friday, and were seated immediately. The waitress promptly took our drink orders and give us time to look at the menu. My first experience with milk tea, (prepackaged) it tasted OK, I think that my son appreciated it more than I did, LOL Soon after the waitress took our order, For apps, we had dan dan noodles, fried pork buns and steamed dumplings, both shrimp and pork, along with Peking duck dim sum. Everything came out hot, and it was all amazingly flavorful. I am not a duck person, but the dim sum definitely changed my view on that! My wife and son literally inhaled the dumplings, which were tender and juicy, not rubbery at all. The main course followed after a nice delay to enjoy our apps. ( We didn't get the robot, though, LOL). General Tso chicken, Dry Pot Beef, and I cant remember the name but it was pork belly bacon and peppers. This was NOT Chinese take out Tso's. Seasoned and sauced just right, and paired with some really honestly excellent white rice, the dish easily would have served two people. The chicken was tender, and tasted amazing. The pork belly dish ( I will find the name later) was a blend of teriyaki? flavored pork and peppers and something else. Im sorry I didn't pay more attention, but the way he was eating it like there was no tomorrow says something :) The Beef dry pot that I ordered came in a mini wok bowl/pot with a small sterno underneath can keeping everything piping hot. It included a mix of melt in your mouth sliced beef, crispy assorted sliced veggies, and a hidden amount of hot peppers. it was just an explosion of flavors on your tongue. Definitely a surprise. Through out our visit, the waitress was polite and attentive without being intrusive. She didn't offer us dessert, but she probably noticed how full we already were, and just brought out takeout containers, LOL. We couldn't have eaten another bite at that point. Lots of stuff on the menu that we have our eyes on. We will be back!
Red Chili Restaurant in Syracuse is a delightful spot for those craving authentic Chinese cuisine. Known for its vibrant flavors and generous portions, this restaurant offers a variety of traditional dishes that never disappoint. Whether you're in the mood for spicy Szechuan-style dishes or more mild Cantonese options, there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with a modern yet cozy interior perfect for both family gatherings and casual dining with friends.
We love Red Chili! Been there a handful of times and every time we go we really love the food. I think truly our favorite part it the wide variety of dishes they have and trying food we have never had before. The most fun we have is ordering family style and sharing with everyone. The setting is beautiful inside, the staff has always been very kind and service is fast. Highly recommended going and trying a little bit of everything!
Ok! 1st hot spot experience for us.. and I lowkey made a fool out of me.. but ya know.. so I over stuffed my simmer pot and it boiled over so they staff literally took over.. I felt like a child (but loved) the flavors were amazing! My wife got the cashew chicken and white rice and absolutely devoured it!!!!.. the slush we got were literally the best we have ever gotten!!! Be aware the simmer pots can get a little expensive each item added is $7-$9 but it's a healthy amount of food.
I don’t usually write reviews, but I wanted to share this experience. We visited during a long weekend and sat by the window—it was a little cold, but the food more than made up for it. The cumin dishes and the tofu fish fillet were absolutely delicious and perfectly spicy. The server who helped us pack our food, Selina, was super nice and very friendly. We really enjoyed chatting with her about the dishes—she made the experience even better. The only small downside was that the woman who brought our food seemed a bit unhappy and didn’t smile much. I hope she finds more happiness in both her work and life. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal.
I've been here plenty of times but today was pretty special. It was a snowstorm and I was not feeling well but i'm very hungry and I did not feel like cooking. upon entering I had a brief conversation with the man at the counter.Who then invited me to sit down and offer me tea complimentary and more great conversation. Small gestures go a long way
I have travelled and stayed in Taiwan several times over my career and always loved the food there and when my father in law brought me here i was taken back there. The food is authentic and absolutely delicious, but they have plenty of more traditional “American Chinese” dishes to choose from as well. Plenty of seating and the service is fast and courteous. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
This is by far the best restaurant in the Syracuse area. I get the Cumin style pork with an order of Xiao Long Bao and Thai tea. Their food is extremely spicy with no ability to really modify it, so I would recommend caution to people adverse to it, but the soup dumplings are in a league of their own. This establishment has plenty of seating, but an interesting parking situation, so if you're in a group you should car pool.
what a delicious east syracuse staple! after being recommended this spot by tons of people, i decided to spend my evening dinner there, and i’m so glad i did! a huge selection of traditional szechuan, delicious beer, and the nicest/most accommodating servers for allergies and such. great choice for the girls and gays and cute boys!
Beautiful restaurant with great food! Service was great and everything was fresh and delicious. Our waiter advised us well and we got sooo much food for a great price. Obsessed!! Don’t let the foot spa and karaoke room scare you lol - the space is gorgeous. Just visiting but if we lived here we would become regulars.
An Absolute Must-Try: The Crispy Szechuan Lobster at Red Chilli, Syracuse! If there’s one dish that defines indulgence with flair, it’s the Crispy Szechuan-Style Lobster at Red Chilli. The moment it arrives, you’re greeted by the intoxicating aroma of toasted chilies, garlic, and peppercorns that promise both fire and finesse. The lobster itself is perfectly cooked—tender and juicy inside, encased in a thin, golden-crisp shell that crackles at first bite. What makes this dish unforgettable is the balance: the numbing warmth of authentic Szechuan peppercorns dancing with the sweetness of fresh lobster meat, all glazed in a glossy, slightly smoky sauce that clings lovingly to every piece. Each mouthful is a symphony of crunch, spice, and ocean-fresh flavor. Pair it with steamed rice or simply savor it on its own—it’s the kind of plate that makes you slow down, close your eyes, and appreciate how perfect seafood can be when prepared with mastery. Red Chilli’s presentation is stunning, too—the deep crimson chilies scattered like jewels, the lobster gleaming beneath a light dusting of scallions and sesame. It’s a show-stopping dish that feels festive yet refined. Whether you’re a spice lover or just someone who appreciates fine seafood, this Crispy Szechuan Lobster is reason enough to visit Red Chilli. Once you try it, you’ll find yourself planning your next trip back before you’ve even finished the plate.
I have spent 4 weeks in China (and at least 3 days in Sichuan/Szechuan) and this place is by far, the most accurate, authentic, real Chinese experience I've had, in the area, as far as the food goes. I had the Chengdu Style Mung Bean Noodles (cold appetizer) and the stir-fried lamb (F6). I highly recommend them, if you like spicy food. I was blown away by the authenticity of the food and will definitely be returning. This restaurant is a new favorite of mine.
Om goodness!! The wait was soooo worth it! My favorite was the smoked duck. But all the dishes were amazing! The service was slow... like I said well worth it. People were flowing in. So u know the locals love it. The decor was amazing. From the roof and every wall. The tables were circular that we sat at, and it made for the ability to have lots of food.
Great Sichuan Cuisine! Very authentic. The Dry Pot Intestines tastes like that I had in Chengdu. The Seafood with Crispy Rice dish is exactly as I remember how it should taste. Almost all Chinese restaurants I’ve been to in the US made this dish wrong by adding too much sugar and making it too sweet. The interior is very clean and has the right amount of Chinese themed decoration, elegant and classy. The staff is friendly and attentive, they even gave us a steamed dumpling dish for free! Very delicious! My daughter loved the minced pork noodle, dumpling, asparagus, and yam. All cooked to the perfection. The serving robot also was a pleasant surprise to all of us. :) Highly recommended!
Very cute place, it was our first time trying hot pot safe to say it was very very good. The staff are very helpful and understanding of our first time and was helping instruct us on how to eat from the hot pot. We were able to construct our own sauces and the food came out pretty fast. The prices aren't too bad either. I suggest the dumplings! Very delicious will definitely be back. Also although Google maps says they have karaoke I asked the front desk and they said they didn't so I'm not too sure but they seem to have a massage place right next door when you head inside.
Over time, I’ve learned which menu items I enjoy the most and tend to stick with those choices. While there are occasional minor issues, the food is consistently good overall, and the restaurant is definitely recommended.
Great food. Love to get their hot pot. Everything I've gotten for hot pot was nice and fresh. The only thing that could use improvement is that it is hard to find staff and they don't come around very frequently so you have to wait a bit if you need something or are ready to leave. Other than that my friends and I are very glad to have found this restaurant.
Red Chili serves some really good soups. They glide down the aisles between the tables on robots. Staff is friendly and efficient. I got the wrong order on my last visit. I like their short beef ribs more but this dish was fine. They rectified the error anyways and I did get my ribs.
Lip numbing spice in all the good warm way for a cold Syracuse day. After a snow storm and Sunday with bright daylight. The restaurant inside has its own personality when it was remodeled a few years ago. With it's earthy wall fixtures and wall mural of an old Chinese restaurant. If your brave highly recommend pork kidneys and even frog. Portions are always for two or a little than that. If you want the next level Chinese food this is the place and always spicy.
Excellent Chinese restaurant. We ordered a bunch of plates, and everything was good. The cumin beef was very spicy, which is great. The dumplings are tasty. Good portion sizes, perfect for sharing. Very efficient service, we got our food in a blink of an eye. Funky decor. It was really cold outside so they needed space heaters everywhere.
Good food. Good serving sizes for the price they ask. Aunthentic asian dishes indeed. What I didn't like- leaky packaging, the sauces spilled in the bag and the bag was ripped. It was messy. I Do like the Beef with Scallion and the Shu mai the most. Not a fan of the Pork Cumin Style. The sesame ball could use a little bit more fillings. Other than that I would order from them again in the future and try other dishes.
As soon as you walk in, the place smells amazing from all the food. There is not a lot of room to wait in the entryway, but we only waited about 15min even though the place was very busy. It took a little longer to order, but we were able to order everything at once. The food came out very quickly, but at a good pace of appetizers then entrees. There was even a cool robot roaming around delivering food! Everything was flavorful except the egg and spring rolls. They were crispy, but they were mushy inside and lacked flavor. My favorite was the sauce that came with pan fried dumplings. The Peking duck rolls were light and fluffy with a good contrast of crisp veggies inside with the duck. If you want spicy food, you can get it here, but they will alter the spice level to meet your tastes.
On our road trip to the East coast after Niagara Falls, stop by here for some late night hot pot. Broth was decent. Meats and veggies were fresh. Sauce was self-serve. We each got our own pot, which is nice and convenient. It is Not all you can eat but by the order. Prices aren't too bad. They do offer dim sum and other Chinese food items. The outside doesn't look very appealing, but the inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated.
I had never tried hot pot before going to Red Chili, it is an interesting experience. I have gone a few times and all the food I have tried has been delicious. They have been out of a few items but they do have a lot to offer. The one big drawback is the service. Some of the staff members there are indifferent and a little unwelcoming. The food is a must try and some of the staff members are pleasant. I will be back to try more items.
Food is fairly bland. Fresh, but bland. Very nice inside. The dumplings were the best from what I got. Sesame chicken, white rice, fried rice (not worth 1$ extra let alone 3), sweet and sour chicken, pork egg-rolls. The food at your typical fast food Chinese place is better and for 1/2 or 1/3 the price. Really disappointed by this place with all of the great reviews it has.
My first visit to Red Chili was average. When we arrived, we were seated fairly quickly. The employees were kind, and we didn’t have to wait too long to order our food. We ordered xiao long bao, beef garlic sauce style, and tofu spicy crispy style. The beef came out first, then the bao, then the tofu. The garlic sauce style beef was cooked with onions and scallions, and it tasted like any typical beef dish you can get at a casual Chinese takeout restaurant. There was nothing really special about this dish. The xiao long baos were bite sized and very tasty. The tofu was very crispy which I enjoyed a lot! The spice level was perfect and there was good flavor in the oil. However, the food was pretty pricey for the portion sizes. You can get the beef dish anywhere for a cheaper price. The tofu entree did not come with any vegetables. It’s just tofu, chili peppers, and chili oil. You would expect more for an entree that costs almost $20. I wish I had more flavor not from the chili oil, but from a variety of vegetables.
I cannot believe that I’m writing this review I’ve been coming here for the last six or seven years when I come into town and I look forward to it every single time I’m in town. The food is always amazing I walk in today I’m seated and I wait probably five minutes before anyone takes my order. They bring me a water I asked for a Coke they brought me the Coke they brought me my food after they brought me my food they did not check on me not one time someone else came in with their family and they waited on them hand and foot and I asked the lady to please give me the check to go box to go bag And to please fill up my Coke. I got out of there I didn’t even leave a tip because I don’t feel like I was waiting waited on I have never went to an establishment in my whole 37 years of life while I’ve been an adult and never left a tip no matter what. This is so sad I don’t know what has happened but I will never step foot back into that establishment.
I ate dinner at Red Chili with two of my friends, and it was very nice. We ordered the Chicken Fried Rice, Steamed Pork Dumplings, String Green Beans, General Tso’s Chicken, and Pork Soup Dumplings and shared them among us. The food came by quickly, and the staff was very friendly. I recommend this restaurant for a relaxed and fun meal.
We called ahead and asked if they had Peking Duck to celebrate a special occasion. We were told yes. When we arrived we found out the Peking Duck they refered to was a small appetizer. They did offer smoked camphor tea duck as an entree which we ordered. That duck was prepared by chopping up an entire duck bones and all with the pieces being put into a smoker. We had to try and chew the duck off of bone fragments for the meal. Quite peculiar. We were also quite surprised to see fly paper hanging over a table. We were grateful that we did not get that table.
As someone visiting from out of town, I was happy to find a dim sum restaurant close to the airport. The restaurant features a welcoming atmosphere, but the service felt inconsistent. It took a while for anyone to greet me, as the host station was unattended when I arrived. While my male server with glasses and the first host (tall lady) I interacted with were courteous, the short lady who handed me my check was noticeably unfriendly. I also observed her checking on other non-Asian tables with much more warmth, which was disappointing. She simply dropped the check on my table without a word or even a simple thank you. Fortunately, the male server was kind and offered a pleasant farewell when I left, which helped end the visit on a better note. The food itself was mediocre - I had the shrimp cheung fun (with tiny shrimp) and siu mai, and ordered the Peking duck bun to go. Overall, a mixed experience that leaves room for improvement, especially in consistency of service.
I’ve eaten at this place many times, but this time my hotpot had a big fly in it (not once, but twice). How did the servers not think that that was indeed a fly and not a peppercorn is beyond me.
I ordered the beef and broccoli, added pork fried rice, and an order of scallion pancakes. Wife ordered cashew chicken with a side of crab rangoons. The order came relatively quickly, and was delivered nice and hot, which is pretty rare for any delivery. My wife really enjoyed her meal, but I didn’t care for it at all. I tried some of everything and, for the most part, it was all totally bland and flavorless. Both of our main dishes were absolutely swimming in the watery sauce, so everything just felt wet and unappealing. I expected a little more body (or at least flavor) but my beef had the same consistency and flavor as her chicken. The scallion pancakes were alright with the sauce that came with it, but I was even disappointed with the pork fried rice as it just tasted like… rice. Honestly, I’ve ordered from here a handful of times and have found it to be confusing why the ratings are so high, as I’ve not been impressed. (I forgot to mention that the prices are insane for a Chinese takeout place. The beef was 21.99 on its own!)
Extremely disappointed with my recent order from Red Chili via Uber Eats. When I opened the food bag, I found more than six cockroaches inside the package. It was absolutely unacceptable and unhygienic. I had to throw the entire order straight into the trash. I will never order from this restaurant again and strongly advise others to be cautious.
Don't even try on a holiday...tried in 2023, thiught we give it a second chance. We made a reservation for 630. Arrived at 620 and waited and waited. No one was working the front yet all the servers were moving nonstop, no eye contact, just keeping up. Other patrons had been waiting (one for over an hour) for take out. We left and went elsewhere. If the establishment can't manage the reservation, they shouldn't accept them.
