Be sure to say hello to Lucy. She's one of a kind! Honest, genuine tap room has plenty of free popcorn and peanuts to go with your pint of Genesee. Yes, the woodwork could use a sanding and a coat of varnish but then drink prices would rise and maybe peanuts and popcorn would no longer be free? Feels like a bar in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, to be honest.
Munjed is the most welcoming bartender. Me and my friends had the time of our lives. Highly recommend

Played a quick game of pool here. Service was good, beer was fine. It was day time, so can't say if night time is the same.
Very friendly staff, TV's for watching sports. Pool is affordable and cues are decent. Drinks are more than reasonably priced. Great for a convenient night out.
It's a bar, with beer, popcorn, and bar games for small groups of friends. They proof everyone, all the time, regardless of their apparent age and will refuse service, as the law allows. No beer specials, because they don't inflate their prices to start with. The owner checks in regularly with the customers and staff. Music doesn't drown out conversation, and you can catch a game on their two modestly sized TVs while sitting at the bar. They don't serve food, so a one star reduction. But, there's plenty of food options within 500 feet. If you want bright lights, pop music, and superficial relationships, or if you really want to be friends with the bouncers at a corporately owned generically themed "bar," go elsewhere.
Super friendly staff, free popcorn, pool, darts, and some of the only cheap beer on tap on Westcott. Not sure what the complaints about the unfriendliness are about. We've been in there multiple times and the staff is always extremely friendly. The racism accusation seems even weirder, considering I've seen people all across the skin color spectrum working there.

Never again. Traveling from out of town. Got proofed at the door. Ok fine.Would not take my state issued pistol permit which legally they have to. So I went for my license. Guy Basically acted like my ID was fake when I gave it to him. (I’m 50) yet my daughter who is 23 was let in with no issues. The bartender didn’t have a clue what the drink was I asked for. And it wasn’t anything special. A simple 7/7. She looked at me like I had three heads.

If I could give NO stars for this review I would. You’ll be very surprised by why you won’t be let in. Pool table is ancient, beer on tap tastes moldy, door guy is a prison guard. DO NOT GO HERE!!!
This is probably the saddest bar in Syracuse. They're not looking to make friends here, or take on any new customers. The regulars who go will continue to patronize, but don't waste your time if you've never been in. You will not be welcomed, you will not be treated with any kindness or respect. Go spend your drinking money at another establishment.
The worst bar experience of my life. I was kicked out because my friend was kicked out (for a decent reason) and then when my friends and I were on the sidewalk more then 80 ft away from the bar entrance the bouncer came and picked a fight with us. We stood out ground (OFF THEIR PROPERTY) where the bouncer went ahead and picked a fight with us. He escalated the fight to a physical level, and slapped my glasses off my face and threatened to step on them and fight me. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE if you are thinking of going somewhere in Syracuse. Would recommend drinking alone instead of this establishment.
Probably one of the worst dive bars I've ever been to. I am 27 years old and the guy took forever staring at my ID like I was underage to the point where it was insulting. Its dumpy and dirty and you cant even bring your drinks on their shanty smoking deck outside. I usually like dives but this one is garbage. Will never go back
They don’t serve food, so this place really has no business calling itself a restaurant. The bouncers are rude and the atmosphere is very off putting. I do not understand how this miserable establishment stays in business.
Bouncer is unfriendly and unreasonable. If they care about service they need a new bouncer.
I recently went there and ordered a double captian and coke with a lime. There was a bunch of soap in the glass and around the outside. I didn't notice till half way through and have been sick to my stomach for a full day. 😕
Kool Kids Klub with a bouncer/owner who profiles its patrons. They clearly don’t want to create a welcoming environment so do yourself a favor and don’t go here. I walked up in a group of 5 (4 guys, 1 girl) and one of my friends asked how the bouncer was doing. After not hearing us and repeating the question, he asked us what party we were coming from (it was 9PM on a Thursday). We told him we came from our house, and he proceeded to tell us that we’d been drinking and wouldn’t be allowed to come in. We thought it could’ve been because three of us were in hoodies or because of our group size- but afterwards, we realized that as this altercation occurred there was a group of four (also college aged) who walked out IN HOODIES. The racism allegations in other reviews speak volumes considering my friend who asked how the bouncer was doing and myself are people of color.
As being someone who’s regular, BELIEVE me friends when I says this! The doorman is racist and high on something, I would not recommend this place to anyone who’s reading this. The doorman stole our quarters when we were playing pool, he started playing pool with us and asked us for some cash. It’ll DEFINITELY ruin your night, they say that you’re not allowed in their establishment if you’ve already had a drink, see I understand that they’re not allowed to take someone visibly intoxicated but the way they put it to you is just pure racism at it’s peak. I hope they realize what age they are living in and behave kindly to their customers atleast. People come from Alto Cinco (a place that’s just across the pub) and chill in Taps afterwards, they don’t mind that if they don’t feel like it, but when they do…..Say goodnight and sleep…on a Friday!! The way I was treated was actually ridiculous. Maybe you’ll like the place if you’re visiting it once but that is the most you can get . By the way all the other employees are nice and kind but the doorman, he’s a piece of work. Regardless I wish the best to all of them and I feel for them and I hope they grasp some sense of reality for once. All in all, a terrible experience, please don’t ruin your night. Or day 🙆🏻
Believe the other reviews! The bouncer is rude and abrasive. He struggles to read IDs and then makes it your problem by threatening to kick you out if you try to point out where the date is. Overall, bouncer ruins the any possibility of enjoying the establishment by making the process of getting in absolutely miserable. Go across the street to Alto cinco, smaller but nicer bar with nicer staff and often have great deals.
A rinky-dinky, little dive bar that functions more as a cash cleaning front for Munjed’s than anything else, with an incapable and hostile bouncer / bartender who’s there only to misread IDs and watch true crime shows as the cherry on top. At least there’s billiards
Our party, who was more than prepared to spend quite a bit of cash here, wasn’t allowed in because I (one of the men in our group) had a sleeveless shirt, two of the women did as well but that was no issue to them. I’m not too broken up about it, the interior looked like my grandmas basement and it smelled like mildew. If you want a truly unpleasant drinking experience (if you’re lucky enough to get in), try Taps!
As a Syracuse native who has lived in the Westcott neighborhood for nearly a decade I avoid this place and have no idea how it manages to stay open, to the point that I've wondered if it's just a money laundering front. The bouncer is always extremely rude, and has on more occasions than I can count accused myself and others with me of being too intoxicated when we walk in cold sober, and threatened to physically remove us when we politely protest. Considering there never seem to be more than three pathetic old barflies buzzing around even on a Friday night I have no idea how this extremely unprofessional policy doesn't put them out of business. The few times I've gotten past the front door I've found the decor to be dated (not "vintage", dated like a cheap motel) and the rest of the staff to be as unpleasant and as uninterested in earning my money as the jerk at the door. There is nothing special about their drink selection, if you want a cheap local brew and some basic human dignity you can't go wrong with Beer Belly Deli across the street. Honestly I'd even recommend the super-cramped bar at Alto Cinco over this cesspit. Neither of them are anywhere near as college-y as the campus bars and have more class in their dumpsters than Taps does.
