Awesome happy hour! Knowledgeable and friendly bar service. Food options were interesting and flavorful. Wish we would have found this place sooner during our stay.
This is a lovely bistro with a European vibe. We were greeted and seated promptly, and our server was at our table in a few minutes. The drinks selection is excellent, with interesting and unique selections. The menu is fabulous, French-based, and something for everyone. My husband had the Ravioles du Dauphiné, with shaved black truffles, and it was superb. I had the Rainbow Trout, perfectly cooked. We shared the haricots verts, delicious with butter and almonds. We split a chocolate lava cake for dessert, which was served with vanilla ice cream and basil. Service throughout the meal was exceptional. A perfect dinner!
Great spot in Truckee with an excellent happy hour from 5-6 PM! We shared the deviled eggs with caviar (the standout dish), a delicious hamburger, crispy fries, and the shrimp & sausage and ham board—both fantastic. The shrimp cocktail was the only thing I’d probably skip next time. The staff was friendly, and the ambiance was on point. Looking forward to returning to try the full menu!
Amazing French place with $85 tasting menu that was one of my FACEIT’s tasting menus I’ve ever had - and the staff obviously was really focused on making sure patrons have a great experience. I’m recommending this place to everyone I know.
Very high quality food and service at this upscale restaurant. Baked goods and pasta are made in house, and are spectacular quality. Food menu is inventive yet easily accessible. The drink list is excellent and the staff is knowledgeable for recommendations. You can easily get carried away in cost, but you will enjoy every minute of it.
A true gem in the Sierra’s. The wait staff is truly amazing. Very spacious and room to breathe while dining. The food was exceptional, very fresh and French like. The kitchen has Gould take a bow. I wasn’t sure about what wine would go well with the meal and they brought out a flight pairing to assist with my bottle choice!
10 Stars! Absolutely amazing dinner. Everything we had was delicious but I particularly loved the French onion soup. I eat a lot of FOS and this was up there as one of the best. The shrimp was good, baguette is worth getting. We had the cassoulet and steak frites as mains and loved it all. Cannot recommend this place enough for a special occasion or not. They also have a solid happy hour that's worth checking out. Great staff, Brooke was amazingly friendly. Good music too - these jazzy instrumental remixes of pop/rap songs. Nothing beats humming along to PASS THE COURVOISIER while eating duck confit!
While looking for places to celebrate our wedding anniversary during our visit to North Lake Tahoe, Tangerine popped up as one of the best restaurants in the area. So we decided to make the beautiful 20ish minute drive over to Truckee and I’m so glad we did! We loved the food, service and vibe. A great place to visit if looking for an elevated restaurant experience in the Tahoe area. If you get to town early you can enjoy a drink at the Tavern overlooking DT Truckee.
Went here twice! Sat alone once and went with a small group another time. It was very good. The service was very accommodating and friendly. I order oysters, raviolis, crème brulee, and a coffee. It was very delicious!

This is one of our favorites places in Truckee, but we had never had the tasting menu until last weekend. All we can say is “wow”. Sylvie was a fantastic host (thank you for that recommendation!) and Timmy absolutely blasted it out of the park with his team’s exquisite dishes. All four of us agreed it was the best dinner we’ve had in quite a while, anywhere (and we travel a lot). Five days later and we’re still talking about it - how often can you say that about your restaurant experience? Bravo!!
Perfect date night! We were blown away by the four-course chef’s tasting menu and wine pairing. Gorgeous dining room, delicious food, and perfectly timed courses. Michelin star level experience.
Not a Francophile but this is a mountain heartland brasserie that deserves to live on. We overstayed our welcome but you’d never know it, and we came away with a real sense of why we all live here, and why this town is magical. Randall and Tabitha embodied everything we came to celebrate. Birthdays and milestones, yes, but also a hope that this is a place for dreamers and people that do things, everyday, to make things a little better for all. Thank you for everything. We will be back!
I really enjoyed this place. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the lighting and atmosphere were nice. The oysters were super fresh and delicious, served with a tangy and flavorful mignonette, lemon, and Tabasco sauce. The fresh-baked demi baguette was crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside, and served with salted butter—mmm. We loved the overflowing cheese on the French onion soup. The flavor of the soup itself was savory and complex. The cassoulet featured house-made sausage and the duck was super tender. The rainbow trout was fresh and perfectly cooked, and tasted delicious with lightly dressed greens. We were stuffed!! Overall a great addition to the downtown area. P.S. The Sancerre I had was fantastic—minerally, balanced, complex.
What an amazing meal. I made a reservation for the wrong day and they were so accommodating in getting us seated despite my mistake. We did the tasting menu (as a table of 5) and it was incredible. So much amazing food, every bite got better. From start to finish, this meal was fantastic and I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.
We had a lovely Anniversary dinner. The comped ravioli dish was soooo good and very much appreciated. All around lovely presented and delicious food from the escargot to the cassoulet to the bistro burger and fries. Took us back to our honeymoon in the south of France almost 9 years ago! Shannon is a wonderful server. Perfect amount of attentiveness while letting us enjoy our meal. As a long time industry vet watching the level of service deteriorate over the last few years this really is refreshing to see. Is it pricey? Yes, but you get what you pay for...and it's worth every penny. Thank you for making our Anniversary dinner special!

Had an amazing dinner here, the staff was super friendly and accommodating. I wish there were more vegan/ dairy free options for appetizers, but overall they were very helpful with my gluten free and dairy free allergies. They even wrote me a birthday card, super special.

The tasting menu was great, including the wine pairing. Sadly I had nowhere to place my purse in the far bathroom. Pretty gross, right? So so bizarre for such a nice restaurant. How hard is it to put a hook on the wall?
32 calories for $75. Not joking, our shrimp cocktail on happy hour was 4 shrimp for $18. That’s $4.50 per bite and zero hunger satiated 😂 Good thing beers were $5.
A Disappointing Night at the Tangerine:High Prices, Meager Portions, and a Bill That Stings As a group of four seniors—two of us longtime residents of France, where bistros are synonymous with unpretentious charm—we arrived at this self-proclaimed "trendy café" expecting casual, family-style dining. What we got instead was a stark reminder that not all that glitters is gold: mediocre fare inflated to exorbitant prices, with portions that could generously be described as "Parisian petite." Our shared meal of two starters, 4 entrees (2 trout, 1 pasta and the Coq au Vin...a hen covered in sauce), one dessert, four glasses of wine (decent but unremarkable), and a single spritz cocktail (refreshing, if undersized) left us shelling out over $100 per person. For a bistro? Ouch. The Food: Style Over Substance; The menu promises elevated bistro classics, but the execution felt more like a tease than a treat. Highlights of disappointment include:Grilled Trout ($38): A dainty fillet barely larger than a postcard, paired with a whisper of lamb's lettuce. To make it a meal, we added French fries ($15)—totaling $53 before the 6% healthcare surcharge. At this rate, you're subsidizing more than just your dinner. Pâté ($19): A sliver so slim it evoked sympathy, accompanied by what amounted to a half-teaspoon of tarragon mustard. Elegance? Perhaps. Satiating? Hardly. Oysters ($48 for a dozen): Petite pearls that were fresh but fleeting—gone in a few bites, leaving us wondering if the price tag included the ocean view we didn't get. The overall quality was passable at best—nothing to write home about, let alone justify the premium. Even the shared dessert felt like an afterthought, more garnish than indulgence.Drinks: Limited and PriceyThe cocktail list is comically sparse: just two options, which felt like an oversight in a "trendy" spot. Our spritz was a bright spot—crisp and well-balanced, though served in a glass that screamed "upcharge for the ice." The wines? Overpriced at $19 per glass for selections that hovered in the "just okay" realm. If you're here for libations, skip the list and head to the bar.Service: A Leisurely Pace That Tested Patience; Our server was polite enough, but attentiveness lagged behind the evening's tempo. We waited an eternity for courses to arrive, turning what should have been a relaxed meal into a test of endurance. In a bistro buzzing with energy, this sluggishness stood out like a sore thumb. The Value Verdict: Not Worth the Hype. This place markets itself as approachable family-style dining (per their tasting menu blurb), yet the bill hit like a Michelin-starred gut punch. For the quality, portions, and pacing, it's outrageously overpriced—more upscale trap than cozy café.That said, kudos to the bar crowd: nursing half-price beers, they injected genuine cheer into the space, transforming the room into a lively haven (at least until the check arrived and reality set in). If you're after atmosphere on a budget, perch there and call it a night. For the full dining experience? Look elsewhere—your wallet (and stomach) will thank you. 2/5 stars. A missed opportunity in a city full of better bistros.
Overpriced and food is average. Be aware they sneak 7% health fee. They just pass that expense on their customers…

First, I really wanted to like this place. It was recommended by a friend and it was a nice local restaurant. We came at 5:30. the staff was friendly and the overall atmosphere was really nice. That’s really the extend though of the experience. We had - The bread - totally pleasant but very overly salted butter French onion soup - incredibly over salted that was practically inedible but we also paid $21 so we wanted to give it a shot Steak frites - over seasoned steak. Had to scrape off the peppercorn. Fries were soggy like they were sitting for a while. For $70, pretty big letdown Chicken - was fine. Creme brulee- best thing we tried. Overall, for $240, this was a huge letdown of a special meal. Again I’ll note the staff was lovely and only thing salvaging an extra star, but can’t recommend the food at all!

Well not sure if we caught a bad night or what but who ever was cooking that night loves salt. Everything was over salted and ruined the meals and when we said something they comped our soup but then completely underseasoned the trout which previously was good. That’s the first thing. But the thing that really irritated me was the 6% fee for health benefits. This is the most absurd thing I have ever heard of. How do you openly charge people a fee that should be the responsibility of ownership. It’s one thing that I am already over paying for a mediocre meal but to discreetly add a fee is stupid. Just adjust the price of food and drinks except the bread that is already $10. The price I paid for our meal I could have had 2 trips to my favorite steakhouse. I wouldn’t waste your money at an average restaurant in an old mountain town trying to become posh. Service was good though.
