We celebrated my husband's BIG Birthday last Saturday evening with the wonderful attention and accommodations that Brendon McGraw, the restaurants GM made available. Brendon went above and beyond to help make my husband's very special birthday the best ever. Adam, our server was AMAZING. My husband and our friends were overwhelmed and still talking about what a great evening. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Hacienda del Sol is the best Tucson has to offer. Thanks Again Brandon and Adam and staff.
Our family of eight went to the "Terraza Garden Patio & Lounge" for a Sunday afternoon lunch. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. I had the Beef Quesadillas (I can't recall the exact name and I can't see it on the online menu) which were stuffed full of shredded beef and quite delicious. We shared the Chocolate Passionfruit Bar which got mixed reviews. The presentation was lovely but the passion fruit curd seemed past its time. My husband's side salad arrived late but he did enjoy some fries while he waited. The atmosphere is quite nice, not overcrowded, and not too noisy. We were able to carry on conversations at our table. The "Hacienda del Sol" area is relaxing and beautiful.
The Hacienda del Sol has sweeping views of the mountains and golf course, and the resort's grounds are beautiful, with desert gardens that are peppered with exceptional art. The Terraza Garden Patio is situated in the middle of the resort, and it's nicely positioned to offer tables in shade or sun, with retractable roof and side panels. The food was excellent, particularly the mahi-mahi tacos, and service from the waitstaff was good too. Definitely looking forward to dining here again and enjoying some live music in the lounge area too!
Had dinner at the fine dining restaurant for my birthday redo since my initial birthday celebration was overshadowed by a funeral. The food was excellent, just as I remembered when I stayed at Hacienda del Sol a couple of years ago. The service was amazing! Dessert of course marked the occasion. Highly recommend! I wish I could live at Hacienda del Sol
Had the best time at the lounge here, enjoying the drink specials for Whiskey Thursday, as well as the special happy hour Lamb Lollipops. Service was excellent, with a special nod to bartender Erin who made FANTASTIC drinks and conversation. The lamb was the best I've had in Tucson (demi glaze was out of this world!!!). I tried the Apple Cinnamon Manhattan, and would recommend it to any Woodford fan. Delicious! Looking forward to returning this evening for night 2 of our stay at the best staycation destination in Tucson -Hacienda del Sol!
Had an outstanding evening and dinner tonight on the Terraza garden patio. Our waitress was amazing and so sweet we were celebrating our anniversary, so she made every effort to ensure we had a great evening. We tried their street tacos and chicken enchiladas, which tasted great. They had live entertainment, which added to our evening with the great mountain views.
Unbelievable. I don't eat meat and this is what happened: I shared the BBQ Wednesday special with my husband. It features fork-tender St. Louis spare port ribs in smoked ancho pepper-agave mop sauce, with a side of pork belly molasses beans, braised mustard brussel sprouts, spoon cornbread and a 'garden salad'. My husband couldn't put down the ribs and he managed to say (between mouthfuls) that he was shocked at how truly tender and well-prepared the ribs were; that they were HUGE and addicting and so tender and that he had never thought to try squeezing the orange over the top, but that it was PERFECT, with the meat just melting off the bone, and I could NOT stop eating the beans. I have never tasted such delicious beans in my whole life. Yes, the BEANS! And the salad was not your normal salad... it was so tangy and scrumptious and mouthwatering because of the combination of garden fresh ingredients and incredible house dressing, it was all gone in no time. This was an intensely satisfying meal. Chef Ramon is TOPS and really understands mouthfeel and flavor combinations and creates a harmonious culinary experience by expertly blending ingredients to achieve desired taste and textural profiles, wow.
Ok well the grounds alone speak to the quality level of this restaurant. This hacienda is a dream - and the Terraza is absolutely lovely. Sit indoors behind floor to ceiling windows, or outdoors by a fire pit if the weather is conducive. The wait staff is stellar. Alex was incredibly attentive and very helpful with ordering. The cheese board is one of the most impressive I’ve ever ordered which was special. Pretty much everything we tried was very well made. My pretty in pink drink was soooooo good! Would absolutely eat here again, and next time I want to try the other restaurant on site too!
Terraza Garden Patio & Lounge is an unexpected gem serving a fun, artisan take on Southwestern American–Mexican flavors. Every dish felt familiar yet totally reimagined—the kind of flavor profile that catches you off guard in the best way. Nothing was too spicy, but I definitely broke a little sweat… in a good way! I was genuinely inspired by how beautifully they elevated classic dishes. It’s rare to taste something that reminds you food can be this creative and this delicious. The service was quick, and the staff was incredibly friendly—you can tell they truly enjoy what they do and love sharing that joy with guests. If you’re looking for a unique dining experience that blends comfort with culinary surprise, Terraza Garden Patio & Lounge absolutely delivers.
We dined here with friends for Valentine's Day!They treated us so well! We had the crispy brussel sprouts for an appetizer (a very large portion!), the Maple Mustard Salmon, the Burger, the Quesadilla (which looked super crispy and delicious) and the Birria Tacos! We were too full for desert. The meals were all cooked to perfection, the salmon was flaky, the burger was super juicy and flavorful, and the Birria tacos, while a little messy, were delicately piled high with explosions of flavor. They had live music. 😊
Great service!! The server was super attentive. My food was good but not excellent. The corn was from a package and previously frozen
Food was excellent. Jacob and Cortney were friendly and efficient. Bread and Butter with Caramel Sauce was awesome
Just had a great glass of wine with my best friend at the Terrazza Garden Patio .& Lounge at the Hacienda del Sol here in Tucson and the experience is remarkable. Fabulous view of the mountains. And terrific service from Kyle, our waitstaff. He was not only charming but listened carefully to the changes we asked for in our order. Should also mention the extraordinarily creative cocktails using southwestern ingredients. Also shout-out to David the mixologist. This is one terrific place and staff.
Great selection of wines and beers. Good menu and attentive service. We were serenaded by an excellent guitarist and singer as we enjoyed our meal in relaxed surroundings.
Our dining experience was memorable. Hacienda del Sol’s southwestern outdoor patio is beautiful with a Mountain view. The food exceeded our expectations and the service was attentive but not obtrusive.
Sunday Brunch was incrediable. All u can eat and the servers were there if anything empted out. Our waitress was amazing. Was always on it when a mimosa ran dry. All the employees and owners were so friendly. Food was excellent. Will be back
First time for me being at this Resort, however I must say rooms were great, at least the ones I stayed in... The restaurant was great the food was a very good and the service was outstanding!!! Dan the man is definitely the man when it comes to taking care of guests at the dining area!! Hard to find a place out west that will step up to the plate like they do back east on the East Coast however this facility does exactly that!!! I would highly recommend this resort to any and all for a great time!! And if Dan the man can't help you just ask for the manager and he will step up to the plate just as Dan the Man steps up to the plate!!
Hacienda Del Sol is always a great experience! This place has really upgraded everything! Beautiful art work all through the lush gardens! Great bar, and restaurant, and fabulous brunch on Sunday! Excellent Prime Rib burgers too!
My visiting adult daughter and I had an excellent early dinner here just before sunset. Service from the staff was impeccable.
This place is amazing! Best views & great service. The buffalo cauliflower is delicious, a must have. Want to recognize Adam & Derek for their hospitality, professionalism & kindness. Through all the COVID chaos, they made our stay exceptional!
We have been here every time we visit Tucson from Phoenix. Definitely need to make reservations especially just before happy hour. The advantages of seating outside on the Terrazzo Garden Patio are its quieter, outside, music usually being played. The night were there they had a cellist , base guitar, and key board playing nice quiet music. Thoroughly enjoyed. The Happy Hour menu was diversified and inexpensive. We ordered Nachos with grilled chicken and wings. Delicious and huge portion. We also on recommendation from our serverChristian ordered the Peach Sangria--tasty. Highly recommend this restaurant.
An upscale place with a casual feel and great views of the city. A wide variety of AMERICONA fair. Try any of there selections and you won't be disappointed. They also have a wide variety of specialty drinks as well as beers and wine. We had a great time here and a great meal. Try it sometime. You won't be disappointed.
The lights of terraza glowed, as the jazz band played classic music in the background, as we ate our dinner. We started with a jalapeno jack cheese nacho. The cheese was yummy, melty, and the chips were crisp, and light. A delicious delight! I enjoyed my Mahi Mahi tacos, complete with all fresh ingredients. My husband's ribeye and vegetable medley was fresh and delicious, with a diversity of a color palate for the presentation. The decadent dessert, death by chocolate, was super chocolaty which put us over the top. I would suggest the creme brulee, it is much lighter,...theirs is the best! The music was a perfect addition to our lovely experience. If you are a wine lover, you must ask for the wine list, and choose a succulent bottle of wine. Their wine list is extensive, and sure to please and delight every palate! Bon Appétit!
Great food and drinks, Excellent service. Wonderful atmosphere with the option of dining inside or outside. Retractable full length clear vynal drops keep the cold air in and you still get a great view of the many assorted native plants that are planted throughought the landscape.
A special brunch and everything was perfect. You hardly see your server but you have a delight in looking at the food and eating it. I could have sat for 4 hours and ate every minute of it! Yummy going back
Food was great, highly recommend Thursday or Friday for the live jazz music directed by Pete Swan, a local legend.
We stopped for lunch after a great hike at Sabino Canyon, as it's closeby. Enjoyed some drinks and great food! It was a little too cool to sit outside, which for Midwesterners means it was quite cool, unseasonably. We had a tamale dish, which was pretty good. The star was the poke bowl Outstanding! I got this with ahi and also crispy tofu. So great and my husband snacked on mine most of the time, and it's not his kind of selection so that says even more. Beautiful resort.
Very pleasant and pleasurable experience. From the host to the waiter Darren, this restaurant is one of the best places I’ve visited. The salad and prime rib were exceptional, I highly recommend this restaurant.
Took my mom for her birthday, to eat lunch. We used the valet parking because you had to park a good ways away if not, and I had my 90yo grandmother with us. I was worried because my mom is picky as hell, but the food was amazing. The service was not good, though. I had to actually ask for my soda to be refilled. The one thing I look for when I got out to eat is, how busy is the server, and is my drink kept filled. The place wasn't busy, and all of our drinks were empty for most of the time there. The place is very cool though, if you take time and check out the history. The library was awesome and told many stories about how it got started and just the overall history. Will definitely be back, and highly recommend it!!
Beautiful garden patio setting. Friendly service wonderful dessert made in house.
Great food and service. The patio was perfect and beautiful views. I would recommend for sure if you are in the area
Great food! We were there for restaurant week and the menu items were excellent. Beautiful views of the mountains and great service.
This is one of our go-to restaurants for celebrations. It was a perfect morning for brunch on the patio. There are a large selections of items to choose including oysters on the half shell, shrimp, Lox and bagels, prime rib, roast pork loin, and a variety of salads. It included breakfast favorites like eggs Benedict, waffles, and made to order omelettes. There was a table of bite sized desserts. The price is now $50 per person which may be a bit steep for a light eater, but I felt I got my money's worth. The wait staff is very attentive with prompt drink refills and quick clearing of used dishes. I expect we will be back again when a big occasion comes along.
We had a nice dinner on the patio. The food and atmosphere are great but what stood out the most was our server. Roy did an amazing job-knowledgeable about the wine selection, great sense of humor, and very attentive....I hope Roy sees this and knows he made our evening that much more enjoyable.
I luved this place! It's beautiful and the tamales were excellent. Fair warning, the calamari is rubbery. I'm definitely going to be back to this place many times over.
Eaten here a bunch of times. Very limited menu, but everything on it is awesome. Service is top notch, and the signature drinks are a must have. If you're into Manhattans at all, the Smoked Applewood Manhattan is unbeatable. Evenings, they have live jazz- always a good group when I've been there. Pricing was very reasonable- got out of there last night for $200 for the 4 of us- that's with drinks and desserts as well.
We enjoyed an outstanding lunch at this delightful garden restaurant which has scenic views of the mountains and gardens in Tucson. Our server, Sean, was superlative. He made great recommendations and was a wonderful host. Cocktails as well as cappuccino were served perfectly. The white cheese nachos were the best we’ve ever had. Thin, crisp, light chips with green chiles and the usual accoutrement completed the dish. The calamari & salads we ordered were equally delicious. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this spot without hesitation to anyone visiting the Tucson area. You will not be disappointed.
We went on a Thursday, when it wasn’t too crowded. There was a great jazz quartet playing, which added to the enjoyment. Smallish menu, good food, great service. Lovely patio can get a little chilly in the winter, even when it fully enclosed.
This was a wonderful experience. The food selection for the brunch was great. the waitstaff was there when we needed them and were very friendly. The staff who oversaw the food items were very attentive and made sure there was food, plates, etc.
Always a great choice. Service, cocktail choices and food are always top notch. Lovely location and great to share with out of town guests or for special occasions.
Easy parking. The grounds are a mixture of botanical wonder and exterior art show. The restaurants and public areas are decorated with taste and with eclectic flavors. The view magestic! The food was high quality and well prepared. The service was very attentive and respectful. Great experience!
i am so pleasantly surprised every visit. In case locals have gotten complacent about this gem, I just want to remind you that the food is still inspired and delicious, the service impeccable, and the ambiance a pleasure. The landscaper deserves a crown! And I'm so grateful that new sculpture continues to appear all around the property. This is "The" place in Tucson to bring guests and for locals to pamper themselves.
Delicioso y excelente servicio!
Happy hour appetizers menu (Carnitas bites) and drink specials.4 - 6pm. Piano player after. It's all outside 'al fresco' as they say. Or you can eat in the bar. We ate Chicken Caesar and Grilled chicken sandwich (Banh Mi) Food good and service extra friendly. Uh minus 1 star for meh decor.
Great service and beautiful views, but there was just one gripe I had. If you're going for Father's day, don't get the "steak frite" unless you want to pay 30 dollars for steak on top of a bed of shoestring french fries. The steak melted and was to die for, but serving it atop frozen ore-ida french fries still has me puzzled. Go for the salmon with risotto or the 8oz filet instead. Also highly recommend the cheese board, A+
Happy Hour is a delight! Great food choices. It was nice and cool I the summer heat. The live jazz band was good, but too loud for conversation.
The food was wonderful I had the shrimp salad. It was a generous portion and delicious. The desserts were wonderful and made in house. I was disappointed in the patio. It was loud with a cement floor and didn't really have much of an ambience. Little to no Christmas decorations I was disappointed.
Good food and excellent service! Our waiter Roy was extremely kind and professional, and the restaurant was very accomadating since we had our dog with us. Would definitely visit again for unique dishes and a relaxing atmosphere.
Seated inside/outside atmosphere comfortably, the menu changes by the season. They keep seasonal items on the menu constant and always a delight. Their Hacienda Burger is sooo good. Staff are friendly and very professional. The Grill Menu is very fancy and definitely worth the money. Terraza is kid friendly.
I enjoy brunch here. It's the same, but cheaper on any normal weekend than Mother's Day, for instance. They do a good job elevating it, and there are some dishes that are good. This time there was a fish dish that may have been good, but the fish was all stuck in the pan. There were also some good and some dry "meh" desserts. Salad and charcuterie are always tasty, but I wish they had more unique dressing options. Also, they didn't have ranch--a staple for the kids in our group to eat salad. Self-serve isn't "fine dining" but it's the best way to do a fancy brunch for tons of people. It's a resort, but people in town come here for the food, so it's gotta be good since we aren't all a captive audience like a resort goer may be. Mimosa refills for $1 are good and you can get any juice for them, not just OJ. The prime rib and made to order egg/omelettes are always good. The prime rib was even hot--sometimes brunch prime rib can be cold from sitting under a lamp all morning, so maybe we were lucky with our timing. I'm always shocked by how small the offerings seem, but they actually cram a lot into a small space and make it look nice. It can get very crowded and there are no shortage of rude, hungry people, but that's luck of the draw at any given moment, and an issue with buffets in general. I don't love the seating for most of it. We had a smaller room this time which was nice for our large group, but it can be very loud and crowded on the aforementioned holidays in the larger areas. They do a good job keeping things clean and restocking the food. Finally, the small vanilla dessert cups with the little chocolate balls are very tasty and fun, but there should also be chocolate ones. There's just not enough chocolate choices for dessert. For a decadent brunch, you need a really solid dark chocolate decadent dessert. This is a missed opportunity IMO.
Had a nice dinner with family over the weekend at this restaurant. Beautiful area and garden as you eat within desert landscapes and pueblo style Casitas. Food was really good, priced reasonably for the location and portion. Service was stretched thin so our server was not very attentive but was genuine.
Well, the food is good, but not Keto friendly at all. Really tough for my guys to eat here. Lovely atmosphere. Also, nothing but plain iced tea and subpar lemonade, no root beer as well. You'd think a place of this caliber would offer more interesting non-alcoholic drinks.
Just ok. Had brunch here today at 1330. Had a reservation. Buffet items were not well stocked and had been sitting out a while. If you're going to allow reservations that late, you should still stock fresh items. No waffles were available. Some items were good but others were just ok. Definitely not worth the price. I made up for the lack of fresh items by drinking the included mimosas. Won't be back for brunch.
Jazz Quatro was fabulous and a beautiful place! My husband as for really hot sauce and they brought him what they said was the Chefs special sauce but it was mild. Food in general a bit blah.
I made lunch reservations for a party of three and let the hostess know I had one elderly person in the party so we did not want to sit at a high top. The next day when we arrived at the time of our reservation we were seated at a very sub par table in the rear corner of the patio with one chair facing the wall. There were many open tables but we were told they were reserved for larger parties. There were at least two other instances of people 2-3 people sitting at a four top. It was pretty disappointing being seated at that table having made a reservation in advance. My chopped salad with Ahi was good. It was a bit dry and the dressing lacked flavor. Overall I wasn’t impressed I’m sorry to say. I’ll keep trying because the setting is gorgeous but I hope for better service next time for sure.
I was misled to believe there was a certain genre of live music here, after arriving it turned out being jazz. The atmosphere reminded me of a scene from Dirty Dancing, Kellerman's Resort...same thing. The hostesses were super sweet though. I cant comment on the food because i left right away. . .but if youre yt, over 40, and like hearing jazz while eating, then this place is for you. 👍🏽
Food was ok but not worth the price we paid for it. Also, walking through the bar to the meal section, you could smell feces or some sort of sewage leak. Server was amazing though.
We were expecting much more given this is a HDS restaurant. Atmosphere is a major plus but food was lack luster. It certainly didn't live up to the standards for food quality at the Grill. Overcooked chicken on the mole, the chicken Tinga masa was somewhat raw and lacked flavor. Beans were undercooked and corn was far from good grilled Mexican street corn. It almost tasted canned. We are locals and I would stay clear of the Mexican offerings as there is so much better elsewhere. Not sure if we hit a bad night since they were catering to a large wedding at the same time. Calamari was well prepped and more standard dishes seemed like the better choices here. Staff and manager did swap out my mole for another offering and took care of us but overall it did not make up for the lack of care in the cooking especially given this is supposed to be a premium experience and we were out for a special night on the town.
I did not care for the menu options. Our meatballs were dry, and the charcuterie board was also dry. We asked for more pita for the hummus, which never came, disappointing
Disappointed at best in the bar recently and had not been there in 6 months…they changed the bar menu appetizers and removed all of my favorite appetizers and now have a special bar menu with food items to try and sell their alcohol and whiskey. Fish tacos with mahi-mahi which were undercooked $7.00 plate of french fries look like death warmed over and swimming in grease and a Caesar salad for $14 - I get that it’s a hotel but really? Will not be returning anytime!
I do not like leaving less than positive reviews...but I feel I need to be honest here.... We were excited to try this place for Tucson Restaurant Week. While the grounds were stunning, that all changed when we walked into the restaurant. There was a sewage smell that immediately hit us and lingered in the bar. When were sat in the patio area back in the corner, it was a relief because the smell did not travel that far. We started by ordering Deviled Eggs for a table appetizer. The waiter informed us that the pre-fixe dinner option for the cod was not available (this was a 6 PM and the dining area was not busy- at all). I decided to go with the salmon option- with shrimp as the appetizer and the flan for dessert. My husband ordered a salad and the Sonoran Hot Dog, and our friends ordered the chicken enchiladas and the salmon from the RW menu. The Deviled Eggs never came. The salads that my husband and friend ordered were probably the best food of the dinner (mediocre at best). The shrimp smelled a little fishy, but the breading was nice. The salmon was a huge disappointment. It was smothered in red sauce and the dish was so busy, that it took away from the delicious salmon taste I was expecting. The dessert was pretty good, but the flavoring was a bit overpowering (nutmeg?). The Sonoran Dog had a burnt bun, and according to our native Tucsonian friends, was not really a true Sonoran Hot Dog. At the end of the meal, we were poured (and charged) for two glasses of wine that we did not order- it was random, but by that time, I needed an extra drink. Besides the disappointing food, the service was SLOW. It took over two hours from start to finish and this food was NOT COMPLICATED. The only reason that it did not take longer is because I had to go and find the waiter to give us our check. We were seriously considering spending a few days here at the resort- but the experience changed our minds. The RW menu was overpriced (45 dollars) for the quality. Way. Overpriced. The staff were doing the best they could, but it was obvious that they were in the weeds the entire time we were there, and I felt bad for them. I hope they can improve and maybe sometime down the road we will give it another go.
Wanted to go some place special and a little upscale to celebrate our anniversary, so decided on the Terraza Garden Patio. Setting is nice, and there was a top notch jazz trio (Matt Mitchell, Pete Swan, and .....) playing, but the food was very disappointing. My fish tacos were bland and very light on the fish. My wife's steak ($34) was tasty but had a lot of gristle. We get better steaks at the supermarket. Service was fine and our waiter was pleasant, which I guess is a plus these days, even though it should just be standard. We had a good time thanks to the music, which I believe is a regular thing. Would go back for that, but if we were going to eat, wouldn't trust this kitchen for anything other than a burger.
We were here last year and were hopeful the food would be better as each of us were disappointed. So this time around we started light with shared lentil soup and guacomole, salsa and chips. Our toddler had grilled cheese and fries. The lentil soup ( of the day) was bland, white… awful! No evidence of spice or lentils! Maybe a gravy packet….The guacamole, salsa was ok, the chips were nice. The toddler’s grilled cheese and fries were terrific. The Sangria was great last year, not so great this year. Friend’s cocktail was ok. All for a whopping $82.08 including tip. Service and setting were awesome. We will not be visiting the Terraza Garden Patio next year.
I really wish I could review our two experiences at Terraza separately. Happy hour on a Friday evening was perfection: attentive service, excellent cocktails, and appetizers and desserts that we exactly as advertised (hint: order the hazelnut mousse). But a Saturday breakfast was another story. It was about 9am and we were staying at the resort. The hostess was short with the couple of people waiting ahead of us, including one couple that had been directed to wait in the bar area but never added to the "official" breakfast list and ultimately left to eat elsewhere. The patio space was lovely once we'd waited slightly less than the stated 20 minutes. But that's where the positives ended. Coffee was decidedly mediocre. I selected the chilaquiles; my best guess is that the person who made them had never eaten them, only heard of them from an inarticulate friend. It was a plate of what appeared to be store bought chips arrayed as nachos might be, drowned in decent enchilada sauce and decorated with eggs and beans. Edible I suppose, but not good. This experience, plus the rest of our time at Hacienda, makes me think they've lost their magic.
I brought my fiancee here a couple weeks ago.. atmosphere was nice, called ahead reserved a table.. I really liked the place we sat outside and could still hear the band inside. But... They messed up our order twice. We ordered plain burgers- had to send them back they were covered in mayo. Then they brought them back after the chef attempted to scrape off the Mayo. It was all over the meat still. Manager refused to let me pay. After a hour and 20 minutes we got our burgers correct. Staff is great. But I just can't return knowing the kitchen staff does stuff like this. Makes me worried about what goes on in there.
Wait for food was excessive. Two dishes were cold when they arrived, the hot one was underdone on the inside. Ate here twice and the wait was crazy long both times. Quality of ingredients is awesome, but kitchen takes so long it's honestly too aggravating to bother. They need to figure it out.
Food was terrible. Ask for a quiet table and was placed right in front of the band. Stick with the Lounge and the Grill. When in the Lounge, definitely ask for Jensen, he is exceptional! Terrible service at Terrazzo too.
Lazy, uninspired kitchen produces bland marginally fresh food at a premium price. Never again. Burnt, dry salmon cake. Dull, probably precooked hamburger for $20. Are you kidding? Calamari a little too shriveled to be fresh. Nice atmosphere, beautiful setting but be prepared for mediocre food and insultingly high prices.
We took a good friend from out of town, who had never been to Tucson, to Terraza expecting a good meal and service indicative of a high quality Tucson restaurant. Shockingly, that is not what we experienced. The two appetizers were inconsistently prepared, skimpy, and low quality. It then to took 45 minutes for our entrees to be served. While our friend ordered the Chef's suggested pork chop special, my wife and I order tacos which should not be hard to put together. My friend's pork chop was over cooked. My Mahi-Mahi tacos were all cabbage with a few flaked pieces of some kind of dry white fish scattered on top. Hard to say if it was Mahi-Mahi. My wife's Carnitas tacos had a few pieces of fried pork belly, not Carnitas. The three of us shared one order of the desert called the Spicy Mexican Doughnut. It was cold and hard. The margarita cocktails were tasty, the only items that were. This all cost just under $200, well over with tip. It was not worth even half that. Wish we could have shown our friend a better time on his one night in Tucson! We won't be back and make the same mistake again.
The food just isn't good. It used to be. Not sure what happened. The chicken on my salad was overcooked and dry. Creme brulee was burned. Calamari bland and lukewarm. My steak was overdone and a poor cut (full of fat). These are basic cooking mistakes which are unacceptable at these prices. The staff is great but they need to do much better on the food. Put a damper on our visit to the resort.
We chose to eat here for my birthday thinking we would have a nice treat of a meal. Instead we had the absolute worst experience. We ordered drinks and an appetizer, the appetizer never arrived. We weren’t offered anything they could make quicker while we waited for our dinner. We were just left sitting there for over an hour. Our meals came way after tables we ordered ahead of. We were told the kitchen was backed up but no other tables seemed to have any issues. We had asked for bread with our meal. It didn’t arrive until after our meal and was 2 tiny little sticks. The meals were subpar. No flavor and over cooked. We told the waitress all of this and the manager never came over or did a thing about it. The waitress gave a super small discount for the absolutely horrible experience. Not sure this is a place to have a meal for something special as my special event was ruined which is sad for the amount of money that was spent.
My husband and I stayed on property at the Hacienda Del Sol. We loved the resort so we had high hopes for the restaurants on property. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:05 for breakfast and were told they could seat us but it would be about 30 minutes before a server would take our order (due to tour groups---who weren't even there yet). We were then offered take out. Which we didn't want. Shouldn't an established restaurant have servers that are trained to accommodate their full dining room??? Apparently not. Because we also tried the restaurant for both lunch and dinner (again, we had high hopes and wanted to give it a true try). Both times we received AWFUL service. We weren't offered any refills until after our meal was over and rarely saw our server both times. It was even other staff who brought our food and took up our check. Then it was even more frustrating to see our server tending other tables while we were sitting with empty drink glasses. Of the 3 completely different times we visited this restaurant we left feeling extremely frustrated. It really took away from the wonderful resort stay this property offers. We really enjoy the convenience of restaurants on resort propert, so I would consider staying on another property due to these awful restaurant experiences.
I cannot express how disappointed I am in the staff and management team at Terraza. I called on 1/20 to make a reservation for 7 guests for 1/22 at 5:30pm. They said, no problem. Made the reservation. I gave them my card to have on file for them to charge in case of cancellation. My RSVP went up, so I called on 1/21 to adjust that reservation to 15 people. I was placed on hold while the hostess connected with the manager on duty. She said, we can adjust your reservation to 15 guests but will need to charge you $250 if you cancel. I said, no problem, as we will not be cancelling. She asked if it was a special occasion. I explained it was a work happy hour, where we would be ordering drinks and appetizers off the menu. She said, okay great, I have you down for 15 people at 7pm on 1/22. I said no, it's for 5:30pm, we do not want to change the time only adjust the reservation to 15 people. She said, "oh, sorry, I meant 5:30pm." We hung up. Thursday, 1/22, my colleague arrives at 5pm to let them know she is the first to arrive for our reservation at 5:30pm. They tell her, oh sorry, that reservation was cancelled. She calls me and explains. I relayed to her that I never cancelled the reservation. Management got involved. They seemed more concerned with who was at fault for the reservation being cancelled (obviously an issue on their end) than they were for allowing us a space / table. After nearly 30 minutes, they gave us a table that was directly near the DJ. We could not hear one another. When my supervisor asked to be moved, they said the only space available was outside on the grass, where servers would not come and serve our group. My colleague had to run inside back and forth to the bar to grab food and drinks and serve our group herself!! Half way through our happy hour, a manager came up with a tablet and showed us that the "reservation had been cancelled via Open Table." Seemed a little funny to me, since I did not use Open Table to cancel my reservation, I called the restaurant directly. I understand that human error happens. What I don't understand is how a restaurant of such high caliber would rather run around and play the blame game, and make up an entire cancellation story to try and... save themselves? Try to place blame on me? I am not really sure, the whole situation was quite baffling and incredibly unprofessional. We were planning on hosting a $10k event there in the future and due to the awful experience we encountered for our FIFTEEN PERSON RESERVATION, we will be finding a new place to hold our event and any future meetings, happy hours or dinners. Very disappointed in management and their inability to problem solve, or properly train their hostesses so that this situation does not happen.
Terrible service even as a guest of the resort. Couldn’t get anyone to acknowledge our table was ready to order and ended up leaving. When we got up and addressed the issue with the hostess stand, they didn’t even apologize and annoyingly suggested we have a nice day. Unfortunately there were two tables seated near us that also had complaints so we were able to avoid the bad breakfast experience and go to a local breakfast spot that was amazing. The bad experience turned into a great experience with excellent food and service 10 minutes down the road at The Teaspoon.
The staff were great. EVERYTHING WAS COLD. The steak and frites were awful. The steak tasted old and was cold as well as the fries. The chicken was boiled, cold, and tasted old. Don’t let the rating deceive you.
Cold food at buffet. $60 for cold food. Omelet was hot. Other than that it would not make it back to your seat warm. I will not be back.
