La Taverna delivered a memorable meal with standout dishes like grilled seafood platters and a perfectly seared T-bone steak. The outdoor seating was relaxed, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Portions were generous, and the presentation was thoughtful—lemon wedges, fresh greens, and colorful plating. It’s tucked slightly off the main drag, which adds to its charm. Ideal for a hearty dinner after a day of hiking or beach time.
La Taverna di Monterosso was great! We were there celebrating our friends' engagement and were not disappointed. The spaghetti vongole was incredible as well as the stuffed, fried anchovies. We sat outside on a really nice day and had a great day. Would be happy coming back and experiencing La Taverna again!
This is a place to Relax , break free from the beach and ..breathe. Enjoy Wine endless breads but above All the Appetizer platter with all items , the sword fish the penn pasta with truffle zucchini and shrimp are home runs for dinner. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy fine Dino with Fine Chefs , fine wine and a delightful atmosphere. Get away from the busy tourist traps and Join in the Authentic food of this place. - Josue
We ordered seafood pasta. Absolutely amazing and I had to give style points for coming in like a swan in tinfoil. On the sauce, the I never had that rich of a prawn flavour in anything, we ended up drinking the sauce because we don’t want to waste anything. Pesto trofie was good but can get heavy later on.
A hidden gem of Monterosso. The seafood risotto and seafood spaghetti were fantastic, as was the tiramisu and chocolate panna cotta. The restaurant is on a quiet street most tourists don't realise or know about but the food is incredible. If this restaurant was on a main street, it'd be filled out the doors. The service was very good too. We had a nice young lady (Martha) serving us and she was quick to bring our food out and was continuously filling out delicious bread.
good rating but mixed reviews so was concerned but alas, amazing vibe and food! bread and olive oil was great. had grilled seabream and it was delicious! fresh and perfectly cooked. I like the steak too. mixed cheese was delicious! caramel panna cotta was yummy as well. fairly decent americano. had a nice lunch here!
Nice restaurant away from the busy beach. Food was but overpriced compared to main cities but given it was off season and most restaurants were closed, it makes sense. Apps were fantastic, pasta was okay (cool presentation), local fish was all good but it had eggplants which was not mentioned.
This was hands down one of the better, if not best, culinary experiences we've had on our 3 week trip to Italy. We ate on the outdoor terrace and the service was outstanding. For starters, they gave us this cross over between bruschetta and focaccia and it was so good we asked for seconds. All our meals were absolutely delicious. In particular, the fried cod antipasto was as delicious as it was beautiful. I had the sea bream in a salt crust, which our waiter prepared in front of our table, adding to the chique of the experience. This restaurant was just a tad secluded from the busy Monterosso al Mare "downtown", which quite frankly was a plus: a plus for the quiet atmosphere, but also I typically find that the best restaurants are often the ones not in the busy tourist areas.
Wonderful service and delicious gluten free food! They brought me gluten free bread (warmed) to start the meal, which I had with olive oil and vinegar. They are able to provide gluten free pasta (but not gluten free pizza base) which tastes wonderful. I had the pasta and tomato sauce, and this was a generous portion size. I had the pannacotta to finish and this was delicious too. Recommend to gluten free travellers.
After a week of eating in Italy, this may take the crown of best meal we’ve had. First, the service was impeccable. Super attentive and warm, they made you feel like family. Second, the food was fresh, flavourful and fantastic. Started with the cheese plate to share which was an amazing journey through local cheeses. My partner cannot stop raving about the strawberry sauce that accompanies the cheese. The swordfish and carbonara were the mains and they did not disappoint. Would recommend this place to family and friends and it is also wheelchair accessible!
Service was ok, food was not. All fish dishes were overcooked and bland, anchovies on pizza were too salty and unbalanced with the rest of the pizza, and penne was entirely too thick and salty to the point of being inedible. For the price of this meal, the quality was simply not there.
Welcome to another substandard and underwhelming tourist experience with just ok food; rough bread; lukewarm beer, Kenny G type cheesy jazz playing out of youtube; dry towel smell; faucet not working. Italian food in Toronto suburbs is 5 times better. You are better off eating the fried fish food next to the train tunnel entrance.
