Great food and service! Stopped for an outdoors lunch under an umbrella and were pleasantly surprised by the upscale menu and attentive service. Ordered fish tacos, seafood soup and cevice. The food was great quality, fresh and delicious. Our water glasses were continually refilled, which was much appreciated! Everyone was happy and impressed.
One of the best Mexican restaurant , The food was so delicious , everything was tasty and yummy I enjoyed fish tacos and seafood soap Very delicious , my kids enjoyed the chicken tacos Steak and eggs Chips and salsa was fresh and warm The waitress was very nice , friendly and welcoming Very satisfied with my experience , highly recommended
Good food, friendly people, and nice views of the Washington Harbour fountain from their patio; what more could you ask for? Stopped in for lunch after a Kennedy Center show. We were hankering for Mexican cuisine and margaritas. Guapo's delivered on both. Our server was kind and even asked if we were on a time schedule or not. They had a cruise ship full of tourists come through; so they were trying to make sure they respected any limited timeframes. We let him know we were there for a relaxed lunch and thanked him for the consideration. I ordered a mezcal margarita and really enjoyed the smoky flavor. Complimentary chips and salsa kept us busy while we waited for our ceviches appetizer. They have an entire section of their menu dedicated to the different styles of ceviches they offer. We decided to try the Tradito Citrico since it is noted as more of a sashimi style, and we love sashimi sushi. It was really good. Texture and citrus flavor worked well together. Next, we moved on to Tacos Al Carbon with steak for me and a steak burrito for my husband. Both were very filling. The steak was tender, not overcooked. We were thoroughly stuffed by this point; so no dessert on this trip, but maybe next time. Overall, it was a great experience, and we would come back.
We stopped in here after a travel morning. Glad we did. Sat outside by the fountains and watched people wander around. Food was great!! We had the combo platters to try a bit of everything. Cheese enchilada, chicken enchilada, ground beef tacos and chili relleno .. all delicious! Edwin, Juan and Jocelyn we’re excellent helping us with lunch.
This traveling foodie was more than impressed by Guapos. It’s location is amongst other popular restaurants in the area. We were welcomed with great energy and seated quickly. Water, chips, and dip were brought to the table. I personally wasn’t a fan of the house salsa. Not because it was bad just not my forte. Let me say this loud and proud….GET THE HORCHATA. No questions asked, it tasted homemade and flavorful. The best I have had personally. Our table was cleaned off often and water poured without even asking. We ordered a steak bowl and shrimp tacos. They were both a solid 10 out of 10. The ingredients were fresh, the steak well seasoned, and the portions appropriate. Enjoyed my meal, service, and this restaurant.
The increment weather and restrictions have been lifted in DC and I decided to venture out to Georgetown and visit @guaposgeorgetown 👣👣☺️ Known for their delicious margaritas and authentic Mexican food, I was super enthused to taste and follow up with you all. You also can’t beat having the view and hustle and bustle of the Potomac River as a near by backdrop. When we arrived, we were seated right away and our host Mariana greeted us with compliments (one of the quickest ways to my heart other than food🥰) and fresh chips and salsa. She also told us about the various margarita flavors (strawberry, mango, passion fruit, traditional, etc). Though I am usually a mango margarita kind of gal, I must say the passion fruit margarita was absolutely delicious. Hint of sweet, salty, & STRONG..just the way a margarita should be🤩. For my entree, I ordered the Pescado en Salsa Cancun (Grilled fillet of Salmon topped with shrimp and scallops, covered with Cancun sauce and served with white rice and black beans). The salmon fillet cooked medium was at its prime level of juiciness and the scallops had a slightly sweet, delicate, and buttery taste. 😋🍽🍤 Staff: 10/10 Food: 10/10 Bathroom: 8/10 Follow my food blog on IG: @fabfoodieinthecity
I absolutely enjoy this location of Guapos over the others that I have dined at. The service is always exceptional and food is always delicious. For drinks, I recommend their Mezcal Mule, a twist on the traditional Moscow Mule. This location is close to the water and during the warmer months, it’s nice to sit outside and enjoy your food and drinks on the patio. However, parking in Georgetown is horrible so keep that in mind. I always just Uber.
Opened for outside seating, which was great. You can feel the breeze off the river. We were there during lunch time so I got the steak bowl and hubby got the chicken chimichanga. I was surprised that they asked how I wanted my steak in my bowl. I have never had a Mexican restaurant ask me that before so that was a plus. The red sangria was good and was told by my daughter that the white sangria was pretty good.
Food was excellent! Everything tasted so good and fresh, served hot. The margs were perfect and were topped with actual fruits. The water front is so beautiful and we also picked the perfect day to dine outside. The ducks were really cute too (no they don’t own them). I will love to visit this chain again !
I recently visited Guapo’s in Georgetown, and I wanted to share how great my experience was. The food was amazing as always, but what really stood out was the exceptional service from Alejandra. She was welcoming, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout my visit. Her positive attitude and professionalism truly made my meal even more enjoyable. Thank you, Alejandra, for the outstanding service — I’ll definitely be coming back!
Went here for a late night dinner after docking my boat in Georgetown and I enjoyed the food! The chimichanga was amazing and the meat inside was perfectly crispy and tender. I also like the way the rice was seasoned and the guacamole. I had mango juice as my drink and it tasted fresh as well. The service was excellent and my waiter was very attentive. Highly recommend for some good eats in Georgetown!
We arrived for lunch and we were quickly seated inside. I went to the washroom to wash my hands. It was immaculate. It was Margarita Monday so we took advantage of that special. The Margaritas were wonderful. The service was prompt and the meals were excellent. I ordered Tostada Laredo with steak done to medium rare. It was perfect. My wife ordered Shrimp in wine sauce, which she enjoyed very much. When a group of 16 was seated close by and did what big groups do, we were quickly seated outside without fanfare. We lingered for a couple of hours. I highly recommend Guapos on Water Street.
Our first time trying Guapo’s and I’m pleased to say it was a great experience. The servers were all extremely polite and attentive. The food was delicious! I especially loved the chips, they were thin and so good. The margaritas were very good as well. The vibe was on point. Bright, colorful. Would definitely return.
Guapo's Restaurant: A VIBRANT Dining Experience in D.C. Guapo's Restaurant in Washington D.C. offers more than just delicious Tex-Mex; it provides a genuinely vibrant and inviting dining experience. The ambiance is consistently praised as lively and perfect for various occasions, whether it’s a casual family dinner or a romantic date night. The interior is visually stunning, featuring colorful mosaics and authentic Aztec artifacts that immerse you in a festive atmosphere. A major highlight is the spacious outdoor seating area, often equipped with heated lamps, allowing patrons to enjoy their signature margaritas and food comfortably year-round. The exceptional service, consistently described as attentive and friendly, completes the experience, ensuring every visit is memorable. The engaging atmosphere firmly establishes Guapo's as a top destination for Mexican cuisine in the capital.
This is our favorite Mexican place in DC we love the food, the service and the atmosphere. Emerson took excellent care of us for the three years we were at DC and he made every visit specia, he is AWESOME l, the rest of the team is great too. The watermelon margaritas are my personal favorite and the steak fajitas, however most of the menu is delicious. Highly recommend.
Wow. Amazing. Bryan was our waiter and one could tell this man has learned a lot from working as support staff to going to a waiter. Hands down great service, catered my recommendations towards my palate rather than the most expensive dish on the menu. Wheelchair accessible, very clean rest rooms, array of menu items. The guacamole with pork belly was a great pick for starters.
My Friends, Family and I had such a great time at Guapo’s of Georgetown Waterfront. We waited about 30 minutes out of the hour quoted for our first available table on a beautiful Sunday so the wait outside would take a while as expected. We were a party of 6 and seated towards the back right wall from the entrance. I’m trying to remember the servers name but she is present in the video clip I uploaded. She was very friendly and accommodating. The food is “always” AMAZING and substantial which is worth your every buck. Our server and the staff helped us celebrate one of our friend’s birthday to top off a fun & memorable evening. Cheers!!!!
One of the best Tex-Mex restaurants I've tried in the USA. The meat was tender, the portions were generous, and the seasoning was excellent. The service was attentive, and the place had a very pleasant atmosphere.
We stopped by Guapo's in Georgetown for a quick lunch before heading out for a boat ride, and I’m so glad we did! We ordered the Veg Burrito, Veg Tacos, and Macaroni & Cheese for our little one. Everything was absolutely delicious—especially the Veg Burrito, which was packed with fresh ingredients and bursting with flavor. The guacamole with chips was complimentary —so fresh and perfectly seasoned! Since we were short on time, we got everything as takeout, and the staff did an amazing job packing it all up in sturdy, well-organized boxes. The service was efficient and friendly, making the experience even better. If you’re in Georgetown and craving some great Mexican food with fantastic service, I highly recommend Guapo's!
Elkin and Casar were amazing!! Elkin was our main server, but both were very attentive, helpful and suggested great drinks and food!! Definitely will be back!
You can’t go wrong with the carne asada and fajitas at Guapo’s! The margaritas are excellent, and the service is fast and attentive! Music and nice view also add to you great time at this place!
We accidentally discovered this restaurant while walking in Georgetown. They also offer brunch menu but we decided to browse their lunch menu. Their chips were made to order, their salsa is really good. My husband tried their margaritas he said it was very delicious. I decided to try their birria, it is heavenly! It melts in your mouth! Another highly recommended are their calamari and ceviche. It was very delicious there’s no other way to describe it. Service was fast too I think we got in just before the lunch rush hour started. I would say if you are in Georgetown, give this restaurant a try and you won’t be disappointed.
I tried Guapo's in many places, but this is the BEST! Ambience, service, employees, meals were literally 10/10. 🙏🏻 They were very friendly and caring employees. My favorite is Enchiladas👏🏻 delicious🫠❤️❤️
You can't go wrong with Guapo's. We have been coming to Guapo's over 20 years and we compare every Mexican restaurant to Guapo's. We just can't find one that is better. Our favs are burritos, tacos, quesadillas, ceviche, margaritas, fajitas, chips and salsa, guacamole, well pretty much we never had anything bad at Guapo's. Service is very good. We love it.
Their warm chip dip is a very unexpected and special blend of seasonings you will definitely enjoy. Their seafood chimichanga is oh-so delicious! Their rib fajitas just melt right off the bone. Both their jalapeno with tamarind margarita and jalapeno pineapple margarita are top notch. Finally, if you can and that is literally and figuratively a stretch, save room for one of their excellent desserts.
Javi, provided the absolute BEST service! His hospitality was sincere and heartfelt! Javi sets the standard and expectation of exceptional service!
Javi made the food taste better. Awesome, professional and attentive service! We’ve been coming to Guapo’s Tenley/Friendship for over 20 years and it’s always been better than most Latin food restaurants but today was off the chain. The tamal delote was absolutely delicious and the arepas with cream were so delicious! The Guapomole was amazing and of course their chips and salsa are the best bar none.
Javier was very friendly & accommodating for our post graduation brunch!! Food was also delicious!!
Javi is honestly a great server and treats everyone nicely.
Javi was great!!!
Lovely atmosphere

A friend who was visiting from out of town and I dined at Guapo’s a couple of weeks ago. We both remarked at the large portion sizes. We could have ordered one dish and shared 😀. The food was good and so was the atmosphere of the restaurant. It was quite busy on the day we dined but we were seated promptly and served within a reasonable amount of time. The wait staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely dine here again.
A very busy place with good food and lots of energy. The chips and salsa were fresh and very much appreciated as a free appetizer. I ordered the beef and chicken enchiladas and I really enjoyed them, while my dinning companions had burrito's that they also enjoyed. We went with the pitcher sized traditional margarita which actually may have been too big, but we soldiered on. Our server was pleasant and attentive, and was available if we had any questions or more items to order. One small annoyance was that the tables on the patio seemed to be placed nilly-willy making it difficult for the servers to move around. I was constantly being nudged as they went by where I was sitting (probably a sign of being very popular on a warm day - inside was likely less crowded).
I wanted to love everything about a Mexican spot this far from Mexico but I was a little underwhelmed. We were a party of 5 that was sat right away on the patio. There is a lot of seating and a large bar inside. Service was good though but I wouldn’t expect anything more than the basic order taker. Margaritas are made with sweet and sour and too much triple sec for my liking. Food came out lukewarm but we waited long enough we just needed to eat. Prices were reasonable just wished it was a little better quality.
Overall a good experience. Food was good but not outstanding. We sat outdoors by the fountain, which was nice, but the music was too loud. Biggest issue was service wasn't very good and they tried to overcharge us, with excuses like "it's the tax" and "that's just how it comes up in the system." They did rectify it for us, but it added 20 mins just to get it resolved. Two of the 4 items we ordered we were charged more than was on the menu - so watch your check because I doubt they'll be fixing this issue soon. The complimentary chips and salsa we fine but not amazing. The kids meal was a good deal. The seafood burrito had nice quality scallops in it. Not sure why they ask how you want your steak cooked, because my "medium" came out well past "well done" (its served already sliced so they can readily see that it's not in fact medium, yet they serve it anyway). And Diablo shrimp had no spice at all.
The staff was friendly. They were quite busy but we were seated in a timely manner. The food was presented well. Fresh, hot and 😋very tasty. The Margarita’s were also good. There was a section in the restaurant outside of the kitchen where a woman was rolling out dough for tortillas in house. That was neat to see. The Margaritas🍹were tasty as well. I will visit again. Thank you for the good service and tasty food.😊
We experienced a fast and delicious lunch for a good price. Our waitress was as very fast, friendly and attentive. The food was perfect cooked and spiced accordingly. Toilets a bit overdone but clean. L really liked the fresh taco machine where you can watch tacos being produced. Cheers!
Such a fun and vibrant location! Service was fast and attentive. The food was great, but I cut down 1 star because everyone agreed that most dishes were a bit salty. The pineapple margarita was very tasty, although it was a bit sweet for our taste. Our favorite was the beef fajitas, which was tender and fulfilling. The price was just right for the area.
We wanted to eat at the waterfront and Guapos had a lot of smiling customers compared to the other open restaurants and it was a good choice. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu (we had a few food allergies and they helped us avoid what we couldn’t have). The chips are wafer thin and yummy. The chicken fajitas had a sizzling display. My birria tacos were good, just a little greasy. And my friends steak salad came medium-rare as she requested. We were too full to try desert, but it looked good. One star down because the men’s bathroom has a frosted glass wall along the length of it and you can see the blurry body outline of everyone inside— no details, just presence. That was an eerie choice.
We were craving for something flavorful and filling and this place was a great option. It is close to the boat ride location too. The portion sizes are humongous and flavorful. They even give complimentary nachos and dips while we wait. Our burrito bowl was too flavorful and filling. Tacos were good but it was soft shell taco and felt a bit oily. Their kids menu is great though. The service is excellent. Pro tip: if you have a boat ride, do get a take-away and eat in on the boat (they do great to-go boxes which are spill proof too!). 100% recommend.
A change in lunch plans and an unexpected visit to Guapo’s. My lunch experience was very good, the service was attentive, the outdoor seating was nice—slight breeze and a nice view. I ordered the shredded chicken tacos and my friend got the steak tacos. The meal was very filling and very tasty. Service was great…she was very attentive. I recommend Guapo’s if you are in the area.
Great food and excellent service!

Delivery tacos were very bad, mushy, no taste. They should not sell tacos for delivery if they cannot ensure they arrive in good condition
Walking in to this Tex-Mex establishment the ambiance feels more like South American with the staff and music. The service was ok. As for the food, the fajitas were a bit tough, ordered them medium and came out almost well done. The appetizers were good in taste but very average, the views and location however were very good. Be prepared to spend extra 15 dollars in parking because they do not have parking validation. Would I go back? Don’t think so, the place is a bit far off the Tex Mex feel and the food is very average.
I have been to some tourist traps in my day but this one takes the cake for the most watered down non-margarita ever. $20 for this! Zero tequila, loads of ice and table salt barely clinging to the rim. I spent $18 on a cocktail at a really fancy hotel bar recently. This margarita should have cost $3. My husband was right to suggest I should skip a margarita at a place like this. The food was okay. I liked my fish tacos pretty well but I could not get over the drink. I recommend skipping Guapo's.
Food was okay at best. Drinks were a bit watery. Our server was attentive and very nice.
I'm really uncertain about this location. I love Guapos and often ordered from the other DC location. The only thing that manages to come out consistently is the Tamal De Elote and Virgin piña colada. IDK, I think I'm over this location. I ordered the same salad I always get from Guapos and the salad tasted sour. Why? The bbq sauce was missing and they have the tiny shrimp 🍤 that I don't like which all of that is fine, but why is my salad sour sweetheart? 🤢 I know some friends tell me that they have to correct some of their coworkers that try to save food that should be discarded and I really think this is what happened to my salad. Granted the chefs or cooks or whatever are always forgetting something but who cares about that as long as nothing that you're eating is spoiled. You can get over the missing garnish or BBQ sauce, but sweetheart I just put a fork full of spoiled lettuce in my mouth..

Horrible tacos to go. I ordered the yellow cheese and got white cheese. Also I ordered three tacos and I didn't get any sour cream, lettuce, or hot sauce.
This place is terrible! My whole family of 21 people including 2 elderly women ate here on december 30 th and 18 out of 21 of us got severe food poisoning, vomiting and diarrhea for more than 48 hours. My 83 year old grandmother ended up in the hospital at 4:00 in the morning and vomited about 14 times that night. My poor brother obliterated the bathroom a few hours later and we couldnt even take care of him because the rest of my family were on there deathbed. At no time were we offered any type of compensation from the HR manager Julieth Perez!!! Our case was sent to the Guapos insurance company and after 2 months we all got letters of denial saying it was not their fault. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVED ONES!!!!!!
Fishy is never "handsome", even on the waterfront. Apparently I ordered 3 fish sticks on mounds of cabbage covered with mayo for $30. After trying to explain my disappointment.. in frustration I just asked for the tacos al pastor instead. No cilantro and onions seemed to be the punishment for my sending the plate back... and now later I realized that I paid for the fish sticks that I sent back as well!!! Oof!
Visited for a dinner with my family on December 30th. The food was mediocre, but the real party started at a few hours later when the meal decided it didn't want to stay. If you’ve ever wanted to spend a night contemplating your life choices while staring at bathroom tiles, this is the place for you! Thanks, Guapos and Juliath Perez, for an evening I literally couldn't keep off the toilet." They never reached out to our group of 21..18 of us deathly ill.
This is my second time here and probably my last time. Service was horrible. Carolina our server didn’t check not one time during our meal if all was ok and or if we needed something. It was 4 adults and 2 kids not sure if the tip was deserved on this visit. $41 tip for the horrible service we received. I was going to let the manager know but it’s seems like managers don’t do anything to fix the problem. Customer service is key to great business. By the way restaurant was empty for a Sunday. Will not come again.
