Delicious food with a nice, quiet atmosphere! Owners are extremely kind and friendly.
Jesus Christ!!!! Omfg So GD good!!!! They made me gluten-free Pad Thai and it was the best I've ever had. The red curry made me so happy. I have eaten at this restaurant five times in the last 2 weeks. It never gets old, kind of like mama jokes. Bwahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha 🤣
This is my favorite Thai restaurants because the owner family came from Thailand, food was authentic and great quality. It is my go-to Thai whenever I'm in the area. You normally don't see rack of lamb from a Thai restaurant, but this is a great dish if you have 4 people. The spicy eggplants, yummy! Drumken noodles is great, so as the Pad Siew or Pad Thai. The mango salad is really really refreshing as a starter. The mango and sticky rice dessert rounds out the meal (seasonal for mango).
We had the Peanut Sauce Tofu dish and the Drunken Noodles. Very good, homey food. The quality of the food is great, and I highly recommend it if you want a reliable Thai experience.
As soon as we entered this restaurant, we knew the reviews on Trip Advisor were correct! The restaurant was packed with people not only at the tables but people who were waiting for takeout. I love Drunken Noodles with tofu and yes, they made it for me very spicy. My partner had Tom Yum soup and a minced chicken dish. We were in heaven. If we lived in the area, we'd return again and again!
DELICIOUS Green Curry with Shrimp. I don't like eggplant, but the way it was cooked in the curry was so yummy. Excellent pad see ew, too. I only wish there was more rice for leftovers. But a perfect amount of sticky rice for one meal.
Not a fancy place but the food was exceptional. I had the pad see ew and spring rolls. Both were among the best I've had in a long time. The noodle dish had that funky Thai smell when it first came out and I was a little worried. But the first bite was so very tasty. I'll definitely be going back to this little out of the way place.
Sheesh. Their medium spicy is pretty damn spicy! I got the Pad See Eu (flat noodles) with beef and it was actually really good in between all the bites where I could feel my tongue. I had leftovers the next day and ate some of it cold so it was a little less spicy and it was still good so I knew it was event better the day before. I also got the Triple Delight for dessert - mostly because I thought it was hilarious that they shape the desserts to look like a girl (see pic), but to my surprised, it was actually really good! The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the sticky rice, but I don't typically like it. Everyone else said it was good and the rest of it was really good. Overall, I like this place. Just be careful when requesting your spicy level!
I recently dined at Bangkok Bay Thai Cuisine and was blown away by the entire experience. The ambiance transported me to the heart of Thailand with its elegant décor and soothing music. The dimly lit setting added a touch of romance, perfect for a special evening out. The attention to detail in the restaurant's design truly set the stage for an exceptional meal.
We had been regulars here for years. However it’s been awhile as we moved out of the area. Were craving Thai food and were close by. So glad we stopped by to dine. Food was fresh and delicious. We are grateful they have not lost the touch and have kept the tasty flavors we remembered. Our favorites are Pad Sei Yu. Yellow Chicken Curry and their homemade sausage. Look forward to eating here again.
Awesome restaurant. Amazing food. It's one of those few places where everything tastes great. I've been coming here for lunch / dinner for many years and ordered food here for a party recently. Unsurprisingly, everyone loved the food.
Bangkok Bay serves delicious Thai food at very reasonable prices. My friends and I shared an appetizer and three entrees for about $60 with tax and tip. We especially enjoyed the pumpkin curry with vegetables and the mango curry with tofu. We told the server that some of us were vegetarian, and he added "no fish sauce" to his notes about our order. I appreciated that. Overall, this is a great neighborhood restaurant. We'll be back!
Very friendly owner who makes you feel at home and recommends their very tasty dishes to you. Curries are very reliable, and good selection of appetizers, and on occasion Northern Thai dishes that are more unusual. A very good restaurant. Closes a little early at 9:30, but then everything in Redwood City does.
We met there as a small family gathering. It's my aunt & uncle's favorite restaurant n the area. We ordered group appetizers & entrees. They were beautifully presented. Each was more delicious than the first! We were visiting fm Myrtle Beach SC & will definitely return 2 this restaurant when we're in the area.
We ordered spicy eggplant and a minced chicken dish for the two of us. The spicy eggplant was spot-on while the minced chicken dish was also excellent as rated by my companion. Because though, that one of the sauces (the vinegar chili sauce) seemed like it had a fish ingredient in it. The only downside was that they charge for the rice.
Delish! We eat a lot of Thai, and our first Thai in Redwood City didn’t disappoint! Our kids are picky eaters and said this was their new favorite food & they reminded me to leave this 5 star review. The peanut tofu was a favorite, & the flavor of the pumpkin curry was top notch. Also enjoyed the garden veggie…. All so good!
Walked in and sat down immediately. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We placed our order, the usual at any Thai restaurant. The food tasted fresh and delicious!!! I can't believe we ate everything!!! We are coming back soon!!!
Today we’re at this place and ordered Tom Yum Soup. I can say that it was different service. Tasty food, great preparation, and polite service all along with a good price. Waitress was so nice. They have got amazing interior with some incredible art and decor. Parking is a bit challenging but you can finding street parking so easily.I'm coming back when i will be in Redwood for sure!
I was surprised this Thai food was so good! Given the general lack of Asian spots in RWC, I had tempered my expectations; but this place delivered in spades when it comes to flavor and vibes. The facade of the store isn't the fanciest, but they've got a really smart interior with some incredible art and decor - on par with the typical small Thai joint vibes that are perfect for a laid back lunch or dinner. We ordered Thai iced tea, Thai iced green tea (a first for us!), Pad Thai + shrimp, green curry, papaya salad, and appetizer combo platter. The drinks, curry, salad, and combo platter were an absolute 5 stars - get it! The Pad Thai was flavorful - but maybe a bit too much sweet / salty and not enough citrus for me. Gotta give a special shout out to the portion sizes: everyone went home full and with a takeout container. I'm coming back for sure!
Pumpkin curry🍛 . I have never had Pumpkin curry but now it's one of my favorites. My gosh! It's savory, well-balanced flavors. It tasted like sweet potato but better. I had seafood added and with white jasmine rice, made the meal exquisite. I don't know how this was prepared but hats off to the Chef! This meal 😋.
Bangkok Bay has been our go to restaurant for over 25 years. The food is consistently excellent and they make the BEST Meang Kam appetizer which we have never found anywhere else. We live out of the country now but always come back when we are here. And Kate is the loveliest, friendliest staff member. They are amazing! We had the lunch specials and Meang Kam and portions were perfect.
Nice place. All dishes we ordered were great. Will come back.
Tasty food! Large selection of Thai cuisines, professional service and decent prices. Parking can get a little challenging due to popular location but well worth a short stroll to the resto. Recommend Pad See Ew and. Fried Calamari.
Tasty food, great preparation, and polite service all along with a good price. I'd go again.

Their Panang Curry was wonderful both times I've gotten it!!
Reliably good takeout spot, the chive dumplings and tom kha are fantastic!
I had a great experience—the food was delicious and plentiful, the customer service was excellent, and I’m already planning to go back soon.
Very very friendly staff! Vegetarian items were clearly labeled, and the curry puffs and Pad Thai were very tasty! The yellow curry was also nice. Everything was mild and not too spicy. This is our favorite Thai place in Redwood City!
I came here with my parents and we had a great time. If you like spicy, authentic Thai food and don't feel like going all the way to Berkeley, this is a great spot. Parking is a bit challenging, but you can usually find paid street parking and lots nearby. This is the best Tom Yum soup I have had in the Bay Area so far! The spicy basil fried rice, mango chicken and drunken noodles are also delicious.
lovely restaurant: great food and even better ambiance. would be perfect for a quiet date where you can actually hear each other talk. Loved the catfish, fried rice, and many other dishes. The staff are really friendly too. 3rd time visiting, will come back again!

Pumpkin curry was good. Tom kha was a lacking. It only had some mushrooms beside my protein choice. Would have been nice with some tomatos or onions. The honey roasted pork was good though!
Service was good. Food was average. It has been several years since my last visit. The food is great. They offer a unique verity. I really enjoyed the punkin curry. Greatly improved an worth putting on my regular list.
The food is about 3.5. But I am feeling generous today because their great service. Ordered two of their most popular dishes, honey grilled pork and pumpkin curry with chicken. The pork dish was moist and sweet. But it does need more flavor to go with the rice on the side. The pumpkin curry was a red curry paste, spicy but not too oily like some other places. Although I did wish the curry was thicker. The chicken were a bit on the dryer side. But they sliced the chicken to very thin, so the dryness didn't affect too much of the dish. We went there for lunch, so we also had two chicken mushroom soups that came with our order. They were very coconutty. I would like to go back again to try some of their noodle and fish dishes next time.
This is my wife and I's go to place for Thai food in Redwood City. Everything we've had has been delicious, especially the honey grilled pork! It's too bad that it's in a terrible location. The parking lot is difficult to get in and out of.
Ordered here online and was waiting for the order and the cashiers were very nice and were trying their best with a busy line, especially during a pandemic. The food was surprisingly good, but another surprise was that the curry that we ordered didn't co.e with rice which was a bummer, but overall would eat here again with extra rice next time.
Got some great take-out from here. The portions are a bit smaller than typical Thai places, but the food quality is excellent. The were very fast as well, the food was ready within 20 minutes.
Came in for lunch. Place is interesting, but dark. Had drunken noodles and yellow curry. Both were very good. Coconut soup to start was interesting... not sure I’d eat that again.
Enjoyed our dinner and had a lovely conversation with the host. We had fish cakes, hot Thai tea, drunken noodles and tango mango with a side of coconut rice and for dessert - mango sticky rice. The hot Thai tea was perfect. Now that would be my go-to and not the Thai iced tea.
The food is good. The service is alright I think it can be improved but in general this place is a nice option.
The atmosphere and service were nice, but the food was bland and inauthentic. The noodles for the pad see ew tasted defrosted, and the meat lacked flavor. And it was missing that slight greasiness that makes the food taste all that much better.
It's an okay Thai food place. The place is serving traditional Thai dishes with cost effective lunch menu. The food was okay. Chicken and rice dishes were not bad, Pad Thai was too sweet and the mango salad wasn't good. No Papaya salad on the menu. Service was okay. Over all, an okay place for a lunch break if you are in the area.
I ordered some takeout and the food was ready on time. I ordered the pad see ew, red curry, and Tom kha soup. For spice level there’s mild, medium, spicy and very spicy as an option. I got spicy and boy was it spicy. I can handle hot food but spicy tasted like very spicy to me. The pad see ew was good. I wasn’t a fan of the Tom kha soup or the red curry. Both soups were too watery and kinda bland.
Prices are extremely reasonable for the bay. Flavor is okay. I prefer a creamier and sweeter Panang Curry. Also the mango used for mango sticky rice was not ripe at all. Would rather it not be on the menu than served like that.
Prompt service. Some dishes seems a little too sweet, red curry is good for someone who wants a spicy taste.
I was wholly unimpressed by the food and the service. I ordered pad thai, my standard candle of thai restaurants and it was uninspired. It had none of the depth I expect of the dish. It tasted like they just used tamarind paste and nothing else. It should have a savory quality to it, and the was nothing the except insipid sweetness. Like a bowl of rice noodles covered in sugar. I drowned it in chili sauce just to feel something.
Ordered drunken noodles, panang curry, Jasmine rice n coconut rice. Everything was average. Have had better food than all. The curry does not come with rice and had to pay an additional $2.5 just for rice. Also Jasmine rice is just normal sticky rice. So better not pay for it.
I thought the place would be great based on other opinions, but I guess most people havent been to Thailand or to an authentic thai restaurant. The food is not bad per se, but it tastes nothing like it should be. If you haven't been to Thailand and don't know much about Thai food then go ahead and come here. If you're craving pad Thai or Thai curry from your last trip to Thailand, I'd recommend to go somewhere else. If at least prices were cheaper or the service was good, I would still give it up to 4 stars, because hey, taste is kind of personal and subjective. But no,the service wasn't very nice.. in fact it made my bf and me sound/seem stupid. I asked about a curry with pumpkin and whether it had a lot of pumpkin flavor or if it was a slight infusion. If you cook (or even if you dont) you would know that, depending on how early in the cooking process you add an ingredient, it will have a stronger or weaker influence on the final taste. All I wanted to know was that, because pumpkin is sweet and I don't want a curry that's all sweet and no spice. The waiter didnt bother to answer and instead said: whatever you want. No sir, I don't want this or that I just want to know what I'm ordering. Later on when he was cleaning up our plates, be interrupted our tables conversation several times to reach for a plate, and in addition he COMMAMDED my bf to hand him a plate. Yes, I wrote it in capital letters because it felt like that. My bf was speaking so when the waiter asked him to put a plate closer to his reach, my bf didn't hear/realize. So the waiter pretty much shoved his hand on his face and said again some thing like "give me that plate!". Very unpolite. Just leave that 1 plate there and take it later. We didn't even order dessert so what's the deal? Anyway, my friends and us won't ever come back here, and I felt embarrassed of inviting them over to this restaurant before having tried it. They were as disappointed as us about food and service.
Drunken noodles is extra depending on the meat you choose. Lots of nerves on the beef, also very rubbery chew, like bubble gum at some point. Vegetables were in big chunks and noodles were dissolved so couldn't tell if it was onion or noodles. Flavor was OK just didn't hit the spot like i expected.
Tom Kha soup is ok, but lacking flavor. Pad Thai better, but both needed lime. We got two tiny wedges when we asked. When we asked for more, we were told there was no more lime in the restaurant.
It must have changed ownership. The inside has changed, with a big ugly mural on the wall in front and they won't let you sit in the back. It was cold in there too, especially by the windows where you HAD to sit. The food was bad - curry tilapia - fish was very dried out, curry was runny, brown rice was cold. Grilled pork had some hard pieces in it that almost cracked my tooth - bones? The service was pretty terrible too - one really bad waitress trying to handle it all, and her own personal issues at the same time. I won't be going back as this is a total change from what it used to be. Really disappointing.
