Just left there after going to one of our favorite restaurants that stop serving breakfast early. Ended up at Tom's. Our waitress Kay was absolutely amazing and made our visit exceptionally pleasant and exceeded our expectations. She kept our coffee full and our order came out exactly as requested and perfectly cooked. Kay continued to check on us throughout our meal and engaged in conversation several times. She was absolutely amazing and we will definitely be back and ask for her specifically. The food was awesome, well cooked and the place is clean and inviting. I highly recommend this place and their warm welcoming attitude. Kudos to a great team at this location. I will definitely be back for another great meal.
Food is amazingly greasy and delicious! It's like going to a completely different era with nicer people and awesome views. The service is great, Emily was super attentive and just overall such a great person. When we first walked in Kirstin immediately gave us attention and made us feel welcomed. Love this place!
Great burger. Perfectly cooked. Best tater tots, too! Service was stellar! Thanks for a good experience!
First time in and I loved it - mom n pop diner with good chicken fried steak, hot coffee, and good service.
Black Friday deals & shopping wore us out💃🏾🏃🏾♀️My bff and I chose to go to Tom's Burgers & Grill because we are foodies and we decided to visit Tom's after it was reviewed on one of the local stations. WOW!! Upon entering we were greeted with big welcomes and friendly smiles. We were seated promptly. The place was clean and smelling with aromas of hickory from the grill. Maddie was our waitress. She was so professional and friendly. She gave us suggestions and reviews from the menu. The MOD (manager on duty), Stephanie came over, introduced herself and frequently check on us. This 5 🌟 service is so hard to come by and it makes a difference. I had the 1/3 cheese burger with sweet potatoe fries. My bff had chilli cheese fries with the bacon cheese buger. Oooh my goodness... Deliciousness. We know food. The prices are resonable and in range with other major restaraunt chains. Thanks Tom's for such an AWESOME 1st time experience with you guys.🤸🏾♀️💃🏾😊👌🏽
Burger was amazing ! Went in at 945 with a pregnancy craving for a burger with mustard. Got the bacon cheeseburger and it hit the spot! The service was amazing they turned the grill on a few minutes early because they usually don’t start till 10. Thank you so much!
Always good food regardless of what we select. Wide menu variety.
I had the vegetarian Portobello cap burger which was delicious, the fries were great as well. The staff was kind and attentive, and the diner was spotless. A true gem of Arlington; I look forward to visiting Tom's again.
Great, local burger shop. Lovely staff and Chad, the gm, was really nice. Comp'd the funnel cake after talking with us for a while. He also said Tom, the owner, hand picks all of the vegetables as to always have great tomatoes (for example). So good, I would definitely recommend to any and everyone. I love supporting local small businesses especially when their worthy of such praise.
Absolutely, insanely wonderful fluffy golden delicious onion rings :) Pimento Cheeseburger is out of this world - as is everything I've tried :) My kids could not figure out what was better -- the kid's burger (which is the same size as the adult burger!) or pancakes. Problem solved - they ate both!
We had a great experience at Tom’s Burger’s and Grill! We had a 2 and 4 year old with us, and the toys and books at the entrance were incredibly helpful. The food is reasonably priced and the kids menu is fantastic. Tom came to our table to check on our meal. I would definitely come here again for a local quick meal. Absolutely recommend the burger, fries, and sweet tea.
Great food and the staff was very friendly. I enjoyed the cheese steak. Loved the old school diner atmosphere.
You can't go wrong here. Our waitress checked on us frequently and two other employees asked if our food was ok. Food was great. Tom's has lots of gluten free options. Prices are reasonable and they have specials every day as well. We went for lunch on a Thursday at noon. There was no waiting, seated immediately. I'll be back.
I've passed by this diner for years and never stopped. I'm so happy my dear friends suggested this spot for our meet up. Diners always have the best food and menus. We arrived a little after opening, so we invited to seat ourselves. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with eggs, sausage and pepper jack cheese on a brioche bun. The sandwich meal is served with hashbrowns. The meal was hot, tasty and large. I thought I was eating a burger. Our waiter was the best and quite attentive, so the service was pleasant. I've got plans to return for lunch and dinner.
I finally tried this place last week and I wasn't disappointed!! The fried mac and cheese bites were delicious! I ended up getting steak and eggs since I craved that after my surgery. The steak was delicious, easy to cut in to. Huge portion of eggs and hash browns as well. The waitress was super friendly and awesome. I'll definitely be coming back!
Tom’s has been a favorite of ours for quite some time. From a traditional, classic style breakfast to enjoying a 1/3rd pound breakfast burger with all the fixins! We love it here….. and have been guests since it BECAME Toms. It used to be a Denny’s… and then some sort of fish restaurant but it’s been Toms for years now.
An Arlington institution and fantastic place for a great meal. They offer a wide selection of classic diner options including all day breakfasts, daily specials, lunch bites, and dinners. Portions are generous (all of my teenagers regularly bring home leftovers) and service is prompt and friendly. The food quality is superior to national chain diner-style restaurants, too.
Country Fried Steak & Eggs: steak was seasoned well, a little chewy, crunchy from the ruffles breading which was different but really good. California Chicken Sandwhich: chicken was small but really flavorful and juicy, brioche bun tasted fresh and buttery, fries could’ve been a little crispier, the pickled spear was cold and tasted great along with this entree. Place does have an old smell to it and it could use a renovation, but it’s still a great place. Service was fast and waiters were polite and attentive. Owner even came by to check on us which just shows that he truly cares! First time and definitely not the last!
My wife and I stopped here, our first time. The food was great, service great. We will definitely be coming back.
I genuelinely like the song by Suzanne Vega, Tom's Diner. obviously, she wasn't singing about this place, but I certainly am. I first heard about this 50's style diner in the articles where they beat out both Fork in the Road and The Original Chophouse in a blind taste test. That's an impressive feat, in my book. I ordered the Bacon and Swiss Burger, onion rings, and a chocolate shake. The service is fast, courteous, and friendly. The food arrived quickly, making this a great stop during a work lunch. The first to arrive was the shake. I gotta say, it's really good, tastes a lot like the shakes my grandma used to make. My burger arrived with the onion rings. The onion really rings were really good. Light, crispy batter that gives an extremely satisfying crunch when eaten. More, there was the sauce! The condiment for the onion rings, dubbed "Secret" or "Onion Ring" Sauce, is brilliant. While I was devouring my onion ring, I could smell the beautiful aromas of the burger on my plate. The patties were preformed. However, these patties were delightfully seasoned on the grill. The garden was crisp and tasty. I could barely keep the sandwich together, the cheese was so stretchy. To top it off, the bacon seized my senses. Overall, this meal was fantastic. You can say that the patties being frozen or preformed is a detriment, but I beg to differ in this case. Tom's pays attention to the mean in the right way at the right time to make this a brilliant burger. I'd easily eat here again. 5/5 If you would like to read more review about DFW's amazing local burger shops, look up BurgerByteDFW on Facebook or Instagram.
Great service and great food. Today I had the club sandwich and tater tots. They grill the bread and make it a perfect height (not tool tall and not too skinny). The waitress was great and the owner Tom stopped by all the tables (including mine) to make sure everyone was taken care of. I have had the burgers here which are great too. I highly recommend Tom's Burgers.
Update - The restrooms are completely updated and are great now. For a locally owned place, it's one of the best. Tom's serves the type of good southern cooking that's a staple in everyday diets. The food is consistently good. The inside needs updating, and that's being done, starting with the restrooms. Prices are reasonable. During busy time, there can be a wait, but it moves fairly well. I always enjoy their breakfast, and sometimes get a hamburger. Their CFS is always good. The breakfast menu us pretty standard, but has some uniquie items. Building your own omelette is a great choice.
Ive come here a few times and each time the service is always great! The burgers are tasty, the ranch they use is yummy, the fried pickles though, they were not my favorite. I don’t like the batter they used and they were very greasy. Got a shake and they charged a $1 for whipped cream and a $1 for chocolate syrup.
Searched online for a burger place and this came up in our search. We like what the webpage had to say. We were not disappointed. For sure that old time diner feel. Our server Carolanne was amazing. Burgers and fresh cut fries for both of us. One added a fried egg Burgers was cooked as ordered. $25 for 2 people for lunch……..can’t think of another place for great food at that price.
Splendid throw back diner/ hamburger joint that serves breakfast all day. Our server was Kaylin, and she was awesome and very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. She helped describe and compare dishes with one another so we found what is sure to be our favorites. You can get any of the monthly burgers at any time, but they are on sale during the month suggested. Fried are freshly made. The fried pickles and onion rings were really good too. We passed the desert case on the way out and it looked delicious we will come back to try out more menu items. We had the queso burger, stuffed buffalo burger and the non-pimento cheese burger, all of which were fantastic!
Old style dinner with good food and friendly service. I prefer to support mom and pop places so we stopped here. The burger was awesome and milk shakes were amazing!
My experience was top notch- the waitress was nice, always refilling drinks, asked enough times if we needed anything. The food did take a bit to come out from the kitchen, but I’m assuming they have more to go orders that people placed due to COVID-19. The hamburger I ordered was delicious, fried okra was spicy and tangy. Beer-battered onion rings were absolutely mouth-watering. There was sufficient of everything on my plate, nothing was missing. The only negative thing I can comment on is it was freezing cold in the section we sat at, and wearing summer clothing didn’t help haha. Overall, this is a great restaurant and will def come back to try other plates.
First time to visit this establishment. It looks just like an old time diner. As you walk in, you get that feeling of what it was like in the past. Tom's offers Big Red as a drink option. This is a rarity. We had the mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. They look and taste like they were made in house. The ranch dipping sauce is not made in house...shame. The onion rings are delicious and slightly addictive. When you order a burger, there are no sides that comes with them. You must order them separately. Burger was juicy and cooked the way it was requested. Very filling. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful in explaining the food and what was on the menu. Definitely worth a look. Great place for a quick bite or date night.
One of the best burger places I’ve been too. Onion ring have a light crispy batter, cheeseburger is made with real cheddar cheese. I was given of what I assume is the house sauce (ketchup, mayo, and some spice maybe paprika)- it was amazing I highly recommend. It’s a chill laid back diner with great service. Note: I tried the reg fries and they are under seasoned a bit disappointing, instead get the onion rings
I have always passed this restaurant and always wanted to go, finally after being here 14 years we went in.. Had a cheese burger medium rare and fries, my girlfriend had chicken fried steak. I thougt it would be a little expensive, but it was not, I spend more at whataburger than I did here and the food was 100 times better at Tom's. Excellent food and prices, loved the inside decor and super friendly staff, our waiter Josh was awesome and super funny. Comfy atmosphere, can't wait to go back for breakfast. Definitely going back. LOVED IT!!
First time at Tom’s in Arlington and I’m impressed. I ordered the quarter pound burger without cheese because I like to actually taste the beef — and it delivered. The waitress mentioned they use pecan wood on the grill, and you can definitely taste that extra smoky flavor. It adds a really nice char-grilled depth without overpowering the burger. The bun looked slightly oversized at first, but it was perfectly toasted with just the right amount of crisp. Great texture. The seasoning was spot on — I didn’t even need to add salt or pepper, which I normally do. Lots of Pickles, which I love, and the other veggies were balanced. Fries were thin and crispy with good flavor. I personally prefer them a bit thicker, but they were still solid. Old-school diner atmosphere, friendly staff, quick service — and a big shout-out to Stephanie. She was attentive, welcoming, shared some cool factoids, and she was on top of everything. Excellent service = 5 STARS. Highly recommend.
The 1/2lb bacon cheeseburger was delicious and cooked almost to perfection. The waiter was friendly and prompt. Plenty of parking outside. The interior is decorated like a kitschy 1950’s diner and could use a little TLC here and there, but hey, the economy is tough right now. Get out there and SUPPORT LOCAL RESTAURANTS. Would definitely eat here again.
Nice environment wonderful counter staff. Big menu. Brkfst all day. Great tasting burger. Tried the house specialty onion rings ..interesting. topped it off w a scoop of chocolate ice cream. Very nice friendly real diner.
Love the theme, exterior is most substantial seen in this part of the country, like a chromed Silver Streak Subway car plus lotsa neon! Great selection on menu with all day breakfast (Eggs Benedict) & all the Comfort foods from crisp onion rings to malts & shakes. I had the Mushroom Swiss Burger with plenty of meat cooked to order (rare to charred); server advised 'medium rare' and cooked perfect. Only problem was left in the kitchen a bit too long, not hot. Fellow diners eating only 'plant-based foods' had a great selection and loved their choices. 4.5 ☆ losing .5 as Great Cook/Bit Slow getting to table.
Tom's never fails to satisfy. Great food, good prices, smoke parking, friendly service. We were there for New Year's Day and were treated to complimentary starters of black eyed peas, greens, and cornbread! I'm rarely in this party of the world, but when I visit, Tom's is on the"must happen" list.
If you're looking for wood fired, grill cooked burgers, Tom's Burgers & Grill has them. They have the classics along with some unique creations. I went with the Buffalo Blue Stuffed Burger. I also had my mandatory sweet tea with a side order of Red Onion Rings and sauce. Of course I followed up my dinner with a Reeses Peanut Butter Pie. Tom's is where I find the best comfort foods around. I've never been disappointed and the service is impeccable. The prices are right along with a nostalgic diner atmosphere. I walked out with enough leftovers for another meal. 👍👍 1530 N Cooper St. Arlington, TX 76011
Went here for the first time the other day with my mom and I’m so so glad we did! I had seen this place driving by a while ago and had always wanted to check it out due to the chrome, ufo, like exterior of the diner. I love old diners like this! So we stopped and it was amazing. We both had burgers, and they were honestly some of the juiciest and largest burgers I’ve had! So good! We also got the fried mac and cheese which was also very good. But I have to say our favorite thing was the chocolate pie. That was one of the best slices of pie I’ve ever had 😍 Also our young waiter was extremely kind and attentive which was much appreciated! They also played lots of older music and the atmosphere felt like you had been transported back in time. Gotta love it! I definitely recommend and I cannot wait to go back! There’s sooo much more yummy looking stuff on the menu that I have yet to try! 🍔😋
Tom's Burgers & Grill is absolutely spectacular! The Service was great, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere with the old school diner feel, was really cool. Of course we ordered burgers, and they were delicious! The meat quality was great, and the ingredients used overall were also tasty! The Onion rings were nice and crispy, with a, "melt-in-your-mouth" type crunch. The kids ordered chicken tenders, and those were also most excellent! Overall, we absolutely loved this place, and will be back
I had a great experience at Tom’s Burgers & Grill! The service was fast, and the food came out hot and fresh. The portions were generous, and everything tasted great—perfectly cooked eggs, crispy hash browns, and delicious ham. The toast was a nice touch, though a little more butter would have been perfect. The diner has a classic, cozy vibe, making it a great place for a hearty breakfast. Definitely recommend if you’re in Arlington and looking for a solid, quick meal!

Easy to overlook, Tom's has excellent food. I especially like the chicken fried chicken, but the burgers, chicken fried steak, and breakfast are amazing too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Laid back burger joint! Not a long wait with plenty of menu options. Chips & queso was our appetizer. It was okay, nothing special. We both got burgers cooked to our liking. Juicy with all that fixings that were generous & fresh. We also each got cheese tater tots, they came out piping hot (which was awesome!) with shredded cheese sprinkled on top for it to melt. I might recommend adding some cheese in between the layered tots though so it's just not on top. The rest of the tots miss out! Service was good, a friendly waitress that checked in on us often. Check them out, lots of fun burger options (obviously it's their focus) to choose from but they also have sandwiches, wraps, entrées etc. with breakfast all day options.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere there. Food came out quick enough and both our dishes were very good. I didn't like the fries, as they were the soggy overcooked type like Wingstop. Just a personal preference there. Very good and worth the money. You pay more than the Burgerking next door, but it was much better.
Great little place friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The food prices are good and portions are nice. Breakfast all day. The only negative was the mens restroom. I’m not saying it had not been cleaned but it did not look like it had been cleaned in a couple days. As someone who has worked in food service I know what a clean restroom should look like.
Mushroom Swiss Burger was quite good. Meat is flavorful and juicy. I really liked the onion rings and the special sauce they are served with! Hubs got the Chicken Fried Steak and found it ok. It was a little overcooked and not fork-tender. The green beans appeared to be left from lunch- they were way over cooked. The Banana pudding was very good and tasted like a classic take on the dessert. Our waitress, Jennifer was very attentive and sweet! Thank you, Jennifer!
First time I went here a month or so back, I got some kind of Jalapeño burger and it was really good. This time I got a hatch chili burger and it was pretty good but nothing to write home about. My daughter got a kids spaghetti and I was expecting meat to be in it, but it was sauce and noodles lol. Overall still a good experience, my girlfriend got the Queso burger and said she really liked it.
Giving the atmosphere 4 stars because the day I visited with my family for lunch, it was very warm indoors. Either they had the heat on blasting at 80 plus degrees or the A/C was broken. Not really sure. Because of that, none of us finished our food and left pretty quick. Please know that if it wasn't for that, we would have stayed longer and finished our meals. The food was really good, well priced, and the service staff were friendly. The surroundings were a fun blast from the past and the place was clean. I would recommend giving this place a try if you haven't been before.
They grilled chicken was absolutely the best I ever had in some time. It was tender and juicy in am amazing way. Prices weren't to bad. Everything tasted amazing!
The cheeseburgers were great. The french fries were okay, a little overcooked and not a lot of flavor. I think they forgot the salt. The service was excellent and the prices were a little high. I definitely go back for a burger. They have a great mural on the wall with some old cars (from the 50s) parked in front of the restaurant, it's very well done.
Was in town for a music festival and decided to try this burger diner out and was pleasantly surprised. We made it in time for the weekly specials. Got the bacon burger paddy melt with side of fries, side of battered onion rings, and a chocolate peanut butter pie for close to $20!! The burger was nice and juicy, the bun was not brioche, and the bacon was perfect cooked for me, it had a ton of melty cheese on it too. The hand cut fries were good, if you like soggy fries, seasoned well. The onion rings were solid crispy, great at first, but after a while they tasted like oil. The peanut butter pie was really good, now if they added some more chocolate to offset the peanut butter a bit, and it would be the best pie! Overall, it's a nice place to grab a bite to eat. The weekly specials make it even more worth it, you canr beat the price for what i got. I would definitely come back again!
Loved this place! The staff was awesome! The decor and design is pretty cool. The food varied. My hickory burger was delicious. The onion rings and tater salad were outstanding. The waffle was not impressive. My date only ate half her burger so i decided to try it and the meat tastsd like a premade lower quality patty you would get from a discount market. Love the service so o dont want to write these guys off. Will come try the chicken fry soon. :-)

Nice 1960's style diner, good food and friendly service. Loved the Motown music in the background. \nBurger with Hatch green chilies was really good. Onion rings were crunchy and delicious.
Corned beef hash: delicious.\n2-egg breakfast: yummy.\nNot enough butter (seriously lacking) on the toast was disappointing.\nGood strong iced tea, and service was very good.
Ordered a steak well done and it came out with pink in the middle to rare for me send it back came back the same way. Probably maybe I'm just too picky but I like my steak well done. Order the mashed potatoes and they were garlic mashed potatoes and posted really too much garlic in them. Had corn on the cob it was good.
I went there on a recommendation. The building is neat with good atmosphere, I am giving the waitress 4 1/2 stars because I believe she was new. Ordered the “award winning” chicken fried steak and eggs. To say it is underwhelming is an understatement. Very little flavor and what you do get is an old grease vat taste. The eggs were made perfect for over easy, but the hash browns were just ok. Personally I will not eat here again unless someone in the family wants to, as they liked it. As far as the chicken fried steak goes it is outside my top 30. I heard that the fried pickles, CFS dinner, Turkey Bacon Wrap, and Patty Melt were pretty good that were also ordered.
Classic diner in an old metal exterior Denny's location. Relaxed, Friendly service (including the owners son waiting tables). Very good burgers. Taste chargrilled. One of the best in the city. Also a nice cheesesteak! Hand-battered onion rings are great. As are the fried mushrooms (which seem freshly battered and not frozen.) Impressive place right off I-30 at Cooper.
This place is ok needs a food revamp nothing blows you away .. I drive across town for breakfast and down the street for a burger 🍔. It would be nice if I could get one or both of the items in one spot .. Needs more then a good piece of Pie to keep me coming back .
I really wanted to like this place more. Majority of our visit was good. Food was tasty and im a sucker for the old fashion diner look. However. The food is a bit pricey for what you're actually getting. Along with a server that was not very enthusiastic about being there. (I'm not fully blaming her, she seemed done for the day, which I understand.) All in all, a decent experience.
A typical old-style diner. Breakfast appears to be their specialty. I mistakenly opted for the chicken philly sandwich. A disappointing choice as it lacked any discernable "philly" attributes and was a little on the salty side. My dining companions ordered breakfast items which were top-notch according to them. I've previously had burgers here and they were very good.
It’s a cute place and I really wanted to like it but the food left me wanting, especially for the price. The burger prices seem great until you realize they don’t come with a side. The fried mozzarella sticks were cold in the middle, absolutely no cheese pull because they weren’t cooked all the way through. The burgers were over salted. They ask how you want your burger cooked and Medium comes well done, medium rare comes fully rare. An over easy egg is cooked through. $60 later (for two people to eat burgers and fries!) and I’m disappointed.

Joint needs a MAJOR face-lift! First thing I noticed when I walked in is how dirty and cluttered it is the foyer. Not a good first impression! Second was the musty smell emanating from the old, strained carpet. I almost walked out after that, but I was meeting someone. Worst of all was the men's restroom, I've been in Mexican gas station bathrooms that were cleaner. The food is your typical dinner fare. I had the bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. The burger was cooked to order, and the first couple of rings were great, but once they got cold, they were limp and greasy. Unless they clean the joint, I won't be back.
We were seated almost immediately, but it took almost 30 minutes to be seated. Even then, my HOTDOG was still served without onion rings, as they were STILL cooking. I’ve never experienced it taking so long to get such basic items. Then my hotdog started off really well, but in the middle the texture of the chili changed. Like maybe they put new chili on top of dry old chili. We wanted to try this place based on proximity and novelty… it won’t happen again.
Burgers were delightful! Wish I could say the same about the service. Asked for to go then decided to eat in. Waited for food at a table visible to the staff.. did not receive a call that meal was ready. Asked for food at counter and was given attitude from staff.. majority of staff on their phones. There were no napkins nor straws in the bag. Did not receive an adequate amount of assistance during our meal. Had to walk to counter for assistance. Would give one star but the burgers and fries increased the overall rating. Your welcome!
I'm not a fan. The food is subpar. Their waffles are soft, instead of crunchy, which I like. Their milkshakes ARE very good, except the last time, not even close to having chocolate in it. They USUALLY give you the metal cup w/extra in it. Not this time. I was very disappointed. Their other food is nothing to write home about. From now on, if my family goes to eat there, I'm staying home & will eat cold cereal. The prices are too high for their food.
I love the concept of an old school american diner, but my gosh this place is in desperate need for a deep cleaning and a refresh. The food was mostly the flavor of old oil. My patty melt was missing onions, a key ingredient in that particular sandwich. The beer batter fried mushrooms was not good at all. Im fairly easy to please, but this food was very lackluster. I still think there is hope for Tom's to improve and the opportunities are there.
This was our second (and absolutely final) visit to Tom’s Burgers and Grill. The first time was rough, but after a year, we figured maybe they’d turned things around. Nope — if anything, it’s slid further downhill. We were seated in a filthy, torn-up booth next to a screaming toddler literally waving a knife around. No exaggeration. Dad was unfazed. We relocated to the bar so my wife wouldn’t leave with a stab wound. The bar stools? Broken, leaning back like recliners, and barely upright. You spend more time fighting gravity than enjoying your meal. The place is disgusting. Crumbs, grime, and food stains everywhere. I went to wash my hands — the bathroom was even worse. I pointed out the completely broken soap dispenser to an employee, and he laughed and said, “Yeah, it’s been like that.” Not funny, not acceptable. The kitchen’s heat lamp wasn’t working, flies were buzzing around, and while the food looked okay, it came out lukewarm and uninspired. Not bad, but not good either — just okay. And when the food is the best part of your visit to a restaurant like this, that’s a serious red flag. Service was painfully slow. Took over 20 minutes just to place our order even though the place wasn’t busy. That said, our server was friendly and chill once he finally made it to our table — he’s the only reason I gave this two stars instead of one. Bottom line: this place is falling apart, literally and operationally. If you’re into broken furniture, bathroom horror shows, and lukewarm burgers, this might be your vibe. Otherwise, steer clear.

Burned greasy chicken fried steak. No prices on menu so was shocked that lunch time Small chicken fried steak was $16.25!!! Never again!
I was not impressed with their food. First of all I am allergic to onions so I asked for no onions, it was taken back to the kitchen and they just took the onions off. They didn't make a new burger for me. The taste of the hickory burger there was no hickory flavor, but then I was wcare to eat too much of it for fear the juices of th onions would make me have my throat close and have to use my epi pen.
Called to place a Togo order like any other time that I’ve called in the morning to make a lunch order due to working over night I don’t want breakfast and this morning I was craving Tom’s and when I called the lady on the phone told me that they can’t serve me lunch until after 10 which has never been the case I’ve always have been able to order lunch for breakfast. She told me the closest thing was chicken and waffles … like you are already making the chicken why can I not have a lunch plate with just chicken. So I’m very upset probably won’t even order from her again because the service was it for me.
Plenty of tables. People after us got seated, drinks, menu and us… nothing. No service ! We are told to pick a seat and the. Nothing! Plenty of wait staff just walked past us and ignored us. Never saw a menu!!
The inside looked just like the old fashioned burger places of the past. The smell in this place was nasty. It was a cross between old urine and an old musty basement. It was quite overwhelming. The young man who would have been our waiter was very nice. After looking at the menu and smelling how bad it was in there, we decided to get up and leave. As we were going to the front door a big cockroach ran across the floor. The old lady sitting in the booth next to us stepped in the roach and I finished it off with my shoe. What a shame that this attractive diner has slid downhill like it has. We would have likes to have stayed and eaten but the smell was just too much and after seeing the roach, it was probably not a good idea to stay. We can't rate the food, sorry.
Today around 11 ish i had by far my worse experience yet, the two female staff members one being the older lady possibly manager on duty and the younger brunette with some dye in her hair green i believe sat at the bar spoke about cutomers in an ABSOLUTE DISGUSTING manner. First instance the older lady saw a delivery service worker come in noticed she spoke spanish so she grabbed a cook, after the driver left she then began to speak to someone at the bar about how "She needs to understand the maps" possibly implying the language barrier in a bigoted manner. Secondly a gentlemen with a disability came in to sit and eat had a major accident and fell face first into the counter, they did right by offering to call ems and offer to render aid but the issues came after that patron left, both older lady and younger staff member began to say DISHUSTING and VILE things like "if you know your disabled why wouldn't you watch where you walk" and "i have faimly members that are blind you dont see them going to pick stuff up" or something along those lines. This is absolutely not acceptable behavior and i hope those 2 staff members loose their jobs!
I had to rate it one star in order for me to write this review. We drove a half hour to try this place out because I’ve heard great things about it. However that isn’t the case, first of all the food came out cold and had to re warm it in the microwave. Secondly, the person in charge did not one time came to apologize. Our server had to do all of the apologies lol he was young but I understand it’s not his fault but you’re all supposed to be a team and work together. Quality of the food wasn’t good at all! Third, our meal was not worth over $60 smh We will never be back!
I left hungry because the fried food was burnt and greasy. I told the waiter I think they need to change the oil because it’s old. Even though we could not even eat the appetizer, it was still on our bill. And then the chicken was just burnt and the waiter admitted it yet that’s still what we were served so I didn’t eat anything, my daughter was starving so she did eat the waffle and a piece of chicken. We were going to split that particular entrée, but I didn’t eat any of it because as you can see, it was burnt, sent out of the kitchen, knowing it was burnt, and the waiter acknowledged it was burnt. But it didn’t seem to matter to anyone but us.
Only giving this place 1 star as my roommate liked the burger. What ever you do don’t order the chicken fried steak, the breading is stale and outright nasty. the mashed potatoes tasted like cafeteria food. the only edible thing was the tater tots. Will not be coming back. expected a decent chicken fried steak considering it’s a diner, but don’t be fooled this place is only a diner by name and its old decor and lumpy booth seats. The service was fine Brittany did a good job at keeping my cup full.
