A must-visit spot at Dean Martin’s Lannings!!My husband and I went for date night, and everything was absolutely amazing. The steak was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The food overall was incredible, and the service was top-tier from start to finish. What made the night even more special is that this was my first night out since cancer remission, and the experience could not have been more meaningful. The owner even stopped by our table, impeccably dressed, and spoke to us so warmly — truly made us feel like family. That level of care and class is rare. Between the outstanding food, excellent service, and genuine hospitality, this was an unforgettable evening. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal and an even better experience.
This was our first visit and we enjoyed the great drinks, wonderful food and excellent service. We started with the following appetizers for our group of four: Escargot, Wagyu Pastrami, Oysters Rockefeller, Lobster Bisque and Wedge Salad. For entrees we tried the Fire Roasted Ribeye, Australian Wagyu Delmonico, NY Strip and Vegan Wellington. The steaks had excellent flavor - especially the Delmonico (one of the best steaks I have every had) and Strip (the Fire Roasted Ribeye presentation was very cool, but I liked the flavor of the other steaks more). We also had the Creamed Spinach and Au Gratin Potatoes as sides - both very flavorful. Our server, Stephanie L., was excellent - very attentive, offered nice recommendations and took great care of us throughout the evening. We look forward to our next visit!
My wife recently overcame cancer and was able to ring the bell, and I want to share something that meant more to us than just a dinner. After months of chemo, exhaustion, appointments, and hard days where life felt anything but normal, we decided it was time to take our first real date night again — not just a quick bite to eat, not just “getting out of the house”… but a moment where we could breathe, reconnect, and celebrate how far she has come. We chose Dean Martin’s Lanning and I can honestly say it was the perfect choice. From the moment we walked through the door, the atmosphere was elegant, welcoming, and comforting all at once. Everything about the environment felt intentional — like you were stepping into a true dining experience, not just a restaurant. The professionalism, the pacing, the service… it genuinely reminded me of being on a Princess Cruise, where everyone has a role, everyone is assigned to something specific, and every detail is executed with excellence. The staff was beyond warm, friendly, and inviting. Not the kind of service that feels scripted — but genuine, thoughtful service that makes you feel like you matter. Like you’re being welcomed into something special. And the food… I don’t even know how to describe it other than extraordinary. Every bite felt like it was prepared with pride. Presentation was beautiful, flavor was unforgettable, and everything was cooked exactly the way a high-end dining experience should be. The steak (as you can see from the photos) was absolutely incredible — perfectly prepared, rich, flavorful, and the kind of meal you don’t forget. Even the little touches, like the rose on the table, made the night feel even more meaningful and romantic. Now don’t get me wrong — this place is not inexpensive. My mother would jokingly say you have to take out a loan to eat here 😂. BUT… she’d also say the other part — you get what you pay for. And that is 100% true here. This is one of those places where you leave knowing you weren’t just fed — you were taken care of. You were served. You were given an experience. What meant the most to me was that this wasn’t just a meal… this was our first night out as a couple again after cancer tried to steal joy from our home. And Dean Martin’s Lanning helped us take that joy back. There truly aren’t enough stars to give. Thank you for treating us like family. Thank you for the incredible food. Thank you for the atmosphere. And thank you for being part of our very first date night back — a night we will remember forever. Highly, highly recommended.
What an experience! I took my husband here for the first time for his birthday, and it did not disappoint! We had drinks in the bar for a quick happy hour drink, and we would have stayed in the bar area if we didn't have reservations for dinner. Happy Hour menu is great! Sauerkraut balls are unbelievable ...so creamy. During dinner and the service, we felt like kings. WE love a good grilled octopus and his was not over done and chewy but buttery I had the Delmonico Wagyu and it was cooked to perfection. I have since then, been back for happy hour..As for Dusty to make the perfect drink for you.
Went for the first time for my birthday dinner and it was incredible. Our server was so engaging and helpful. I wanted to try Wagyu but was nervous about the fat texture, he brought over slices of the different cuts to show me and explained all the differences and how they cook down. Decided to have the Australian Wagyu filet based on this and it was the best steak I’ve ever eaten! Their house steak sauce isn’t necessary because the steak is so delicious on its own, but the sauce pushed it to outer space levels of delicious. Even the side dishes were high quality. I got a little dessert for my birthday with a card. Really a special evening. My only complaint was the 2nd server had asked to box up our food while we were still eating so that was a little disjointed from everything else. 10/10 will come back for sure, probably have told every friend I have already how good it was.
We recently hosted a private 50th birthday celebration in the Lounge at Lanning’s, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, Ms. Nicky worked with us months in advance and was incredibly communicative, responsive, and thoughtful with her menu suggestions. We ended up selecting the Charcuterie Board, Shrimp Cocktail, Mini Crab Cakes, Stuffed Mushrooms, Prime Sliders, Baked Potato Bar, and Caesar Salad — every dish was fantastic, especially the sliders and stuffed mushrooms. But beyond the food, what stood out most was the world-class service and hospitality. Owners Mr. Dean and Ms. Bethany personally welcomed us and made everyone feel like family, even though some guests were first-timers. The wait staff was professional, attentive, and made the evening flow seamlessly. For a couple of hours, it truly felt like being transported back to the 1950s, when service was at its very best. To top it off, we enjoyed live music from “Dean and Frank” — their voices were outstanding, and I’d highly recommend catching their monthly performance at Lanning’s if you have the chance. Cheers to Lanning’s for creating an evening of memories that will last a lifetime!
Had the pleasure of working with Dean, his wife and their lovely staff, for a private event for our company party. From start to finish they provided top notch service, the event went over beautifully, the servers were nice, professional, attentive; at No time was I without a drink, or anything at all- cannot recommend this place enough, support small; support local!
This place was phenomenal. Dean Martin the new owner totally remodeled the whole place over the last few years and the vibe was outstanding! I highly recommend this restaurant. My new favorite!
Dean Martin’s Lanning’s is exceptional from the moment you arrive. The owners clearly care, the staff is welcoming and polished—Savannah was fantastic—and the food is simply excellent. Even the valet service is seamless and top-tier. You can feel the attention to detail in every part of the experience.
10/10 service, food and atmosphere! We loved every single thing we got. The pastrami, french onion soup, wagyu filet, mac and cheese, au gratin potatoes and brookie were all fantastic! The espresso martini might have also been the best I have ever had!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our first time dining out at Dean Martin’s Lanning’s Restaurant last night! His oysters, filet mignon with onions, asparagus and baked potato and my shrimp scampi and baked potato were amazing! We missed not having a complimentary salad with our meals like some restaurants have. We enjoyed the roll choices, although they weren’t warm, which is my preference. The ambience was amazingly beautiful and our server, Patrick, was excellent! We plan to come back sometime in the future.
We had an amazing experience at Dean Martin's Lanning's for our annual end-of-year dinner with friends! From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional – greeted with a smile, coats checked, and doors opened for us. The beet appetizer was absolutely delicious, and the Wagyu pastrami was described as a "religious experience" by some at our table. My husband and I shared the ribeye, which was cooked to perfection, and the scampi was fantastic. The lobster mac and cheese was also a hit, and the mashed potatoes were just like homemade – and trust me, I make the best mashed potatoes! The butter cake was the perfect way to end the meal, and our service was top-notch. We never felt rushed, allowing us to enjoy our time chatting with friends. As people who enjoy cooking at home, it’s rare that we find a meal that we think we can't recreate, but Dean Martin's Lanning's truly impressed us. It was such a refreshing experience to find a place that takes pride in delivering a fantastic dining experience. We will definitely be back!
This was my first time to Lanning's, I grew up in the area so was very excited to go for my birthday. It was everything and more. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We sat by the window to view the creek which was beautiful! The hostess was very welcoming, wishing me a happy birthday. Tommy, our waiter, and Keegan, his assistant, were wonderful. We never wanted for anything. They were attentive and very friendly. We started with the Crab Cakes - amazing! I had the Sea Scallops that were absolutely delicious. My husband had the huge lobster tail that was sweet and succulant. To end the evening, I received a birthday sorbet and had a zero alchohol Expresso Martini. Oh, did I mention they have a wonderful zero percent Mocktail menu as well. I started with a Mango Spicy Margarita, it was delicious. True zero percent spirits utilized. I highly recommend going here if you have a chance or make a chance to go!
Dinning like this is an experience that Lanning’s gets right. You don’t spend this kind of money on the food alone. What you get for that experience is an extensive wine and spirts list, remarkable food and a knowledge staff that is as attentive as you need them to be. This is the perfect place to pamper your significant other, or impress those out of town clients.
From the very start it was a five star experience. First the servers assistant stopped by followed by the server. All courses were timed perfectly and the 14oz waygu ribeye was out of this world. Everyone in the party loved all of their food! The owner himself even stropped by the table to converse with us. I couldn’t have been more pleased!
Took my boyfriend here for his 40th birthday and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The food and service exceeded our expectations. The steak was cooked to perfection and the drinks were great. It was worth every penny spent.
Went there for the first time for a company gathering. Staff was first class all the way. food was spectacular and the atmoshere was awesome. Definitely a place we would revisit. Top notch all the way.
We enjoyed a company event last night and I have to say what a seamless experience it was! Dean, Bethany, and the entire team made us feel like each and every one of us were long lost friends. And of course the meal was outstanding. I won’t soon forget the night!
If you are looking for a truly unique experience with an upscale dining venue, look no further. Dean's place is a throwback to when upscale dining was a special occasion and going to this kind of restaurant was a privilege. The staff is polished and on point. The food quality and presentation are second to none. Do yourself a favor, make the reservation, you won't be disappointed. Thanks again, Dean!
The fact that this place does not have 5 stars is crazy. Joe S. Was just as amazing as the food. The food was amazing. The experience was amazing, my husband and I celebrated our anniversary. If youre looking for a place to go high end this is your place. We were greeted by dean himself and placed in a beautiful seating. I would recommend this place to anyone.
An excellent upscale restaurant here. Top notch service, and of course, the food was great. Can't wait to go back since I want to try everything on the menu.
My company had a banquet there and it was amazing!!! The staff was VERY professional, attentive, and willing to go above and beyond. The food was excellent as well. The lobster Mac and cheese had actual lobster no imitation there.
I recently attended a private dinner event at Dean Martin’s Lanning’s and everything was exceptional. The service was seamless from start to finish, the staff was incredibly attentive, and the food was outstanding. The ambiance is classic and elegant but still warm and welcoming. I’ve also dined here during regular hours and it’s consistently amazing. The owners are truly wonderful people, and their genuine hospitality shows in every detail.
The food was cooked to perfection and served to us in impeccable timing. From the appetizers to dessert, everything exceeded expectations. The cocktails were on point and Dean went above and beyond to make sure our experience was unmatched. Would highly recommend!
We had dinner at Lanning’s this past Friday and everything was excellent. The food was very flavorful, and came out quickly. You can tell they really care about quality. The service was just as impressive, attentive, and genuinely very friendly. It made for a really great overall experience!!
I have been to Lannings several times and I’m never disappointed. The service is always outstanding and the food is incredible. I recently attended my company’s award dinner at Lanning’s and it was an awesome experience. The staff did a wonderful and I am very sure that no one left unhappy. Great job Dean and team!
We just celebrated our annual award ceremony with Vans Tire Pros. We pride ourselves on delivering customer service that is second to none. And that is just what we received. Second to none service from the valet service to the moment we stepped into the doors and had unmatched customer service with a smile and food that was simply amazing!!! Thanks to Dean and his crew for the great hospitality.
I was recently at Lannings for a company event. The service was amazing. Our servers did whatever they could to make sure we were taken care of. I don't think I went without a drink in my hand all night long! Exceptional service and the food was great! Thank you Dean and his crew for an incredible night!
The most incredibly delicious steak we've ever had. While it's very pricey, it's definitely worth it for the world class dining experience that everyone should try at least once. I can't understand how anyone could give them anything less than 5 stars. Absolute perfection.
Beautiful atmosphere, exceptional service, and food that truly stands out over anywhere else. Every dish was flavorful and thoughtfully presented. It’s truly rare to find a place that combines great food with such genuine hospitality. A perfect spot for a special night out. Highly recommend!
I had the pleasure of visiting Lanning's a few times in the past few months, most recently for a private event. Each time, absolutely top-notch. The quality of the food and drinks, the atmosphere, and especially the service quality - Dean and his team did an excellent job across the board. Look forward to making my way back again soon
The whole experience was excellent. Steaks were amazing. Staff was excellent and accommodating. Old school fine dining vibes. It is pricey but definitely a great dining experience. Will be back.
Literally everything was incredible. The service from the moment we walked in was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, particularly the steak, was one of the best steaks I've had in years. (And don't sleep on the salad dressings). The service from Patrick and Keanan was absolutely outstanding from start to finish.
Had a company event here Friday night, very memorable experience. The staff were incredible, very attentive and customer service driven. The food, service, and atmosphere were way beyond 5 stars. I will recommend this establishment to everyone. Thank you for a great time!
The entire experience was wonderful! The food was delicious, the service was top notch, and the atmosphere was amazing. We will definitely be returning! Thank you for a great night!
This was our first visit and will definitely not be our last. We dine out often and have dined in some really great establishments across the country, but this dining experience was hands down #1 ! As we arrived, the valet guys were so polite and professional. From opening my door to let me out, to joking with my beau. Parking is not far from the front door, so it's very accessible and convenient. I have never dined in a restaurant that was so fully staffed. There were several people doing each task from filling water, to expediting, to bringing bread to the table, to scraping the crumbs from the table cloth, to removing unused utensils, etc. The attention to detail and attentiveness to guest needs was top notch. They even escort you to the top of the stairs to go down to the restroom! "Guest coming through!!" Our server was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. He was funny and sweet and yes, professional. He checked on us just enough not to be intrusive, and made sure that our food and drinks were to our liking. He was definitely one of THE BEST servers we have ever had! The food was AMAZING!!! Everything that hit our table was delicious, seasoned just right and well-prepared. My medium rare steak was flavorful and juicy along with the sea scallops, and my beau's Chilean Sea Bass was to die for. We had the creamed spinach and carrots which were shareable side dishes and they were really good. The food came to the table quickly and was hot and fresh. The back of the house staff did their thing! We had martinis, because why not??!! They were prepared for our glasses right at the table so they were perfectly chilled. There's a huge selection to try and an ample drink and wine menu. The atmosphere is inviting. Dean Martin is one of my favorite actors/performers and to see his handsome face in photographs all over the restaurant made me smile LOL The seating, low lighting, ambiance, and vibe is great for a date night, a milestone celebration, or just a night out for good food and drinks. I can say more, but I'll stop here LOL I have never in my 59 years been so impressed with a restaurant as I was impressed with this one. Dean Martin's Lanning Restaurant owes us nothing and we will definitely add them to our rotation of great dining experiences. Thank you, to the management and staff for running such a well-oiled machine!
Very classy resturaunt. Elegant. We had a window table with a nice view of the river. Our waiter was great. We ordered the trout and filet which were both good, but for the price we were hoping it to be fantastic. Our side dishes seemed to be very bland. Espresso martini 10/10. Wedge salad 10/10
I was extremely unimpressed with the food for the price. The 70$ filet, came with no sides, quality and taste was no better than steak from Moe's on front street except it cost 30$ more. I tried soup, salad, potatoes, steak and oysters. I was blown away by none of it. Im more than happy to spend good $ on food. Ive eaten at high end restaurants across the country. $ is nevet an issue if the food matches the price. This came far short. I spent over 100$ on myself for a 55-60$ dollar meal. I felt like I paid for the name on the door not some unbelievable food. Can tell a lot about a high end restaurant by the bread, they hand out rolls like they're gold coins or something 😂. Inside was pretty cookie cutter, nothing eye catching, booth seats were nice.
It's on par with the other high end steak houses, nothing outstanding. The service was outstanding, never waiting for drinks or extras. Not a fan of the atmosphere. The tables are too close together so the noise level is loud! It was hard to hear the guests at our table. Very expensive for the same quality as other "high end" steak places.
We went on a Tuesday evening at 7pm. Not very crowded. Very nice atmosphere. Lot of servers but service was a little slow.We ordered the Au gratin potatoes but were told they were out of them. The 4 of us decided on the corn for a vegetable. They came back and said they only had one order left! The food was good.We feel that for being early on a weekday, they shouldn’t have run out of those things.
Steaks were under cooked. They forgot one of our sides. Waiter dropped something on my shoulder and left a stain on my shirt. Couldnt get certain items on menu due to busy because of valentines day. Next time just gonna take my business down the road and so should you.
The steak was excellent and cooked perfectly. Everything else was fine. The wine service, however, was misleading. When I asked what wines were available by the glass, the server only listed the top three options, which pushed me toward a more expensive choice. Later, I found out there were actually 10 wines available by the glass—information that was never offered when I asked. That’s not good service; it feels intentionally deceptive.
My girlfriend and I went out for our anniversary. We chose this restaurant because it had recently been named “the best steakhouse in the greater Cleveland area”. My girlfriend and I have been to many of the steakhouses throughout northeast Ohio but not this one so we decided to give it a try. Our waitress was great and we had no complaints there. The atmosphere was old school but nice. We got sat next to the window so we could see the river next to the building. The drinks were fantastic. Bread service was excellent. The stone crab special was over priced in my opinion but still, it was good. Then the steaks came. From looking at it before we cut in, we were excited. They looked amazing. I cut into my bone-in ribeye and saw what I posted. It was not medium rare like how I asked, it was basically raw. My girlfriend who ordered the filet orders medium and it was basically well done. Our waitress came over and asked how everything was. I had not had a bite because of the rawness of my steak. My girlfriend had one bite of her steak and was incredibly disappointed in how it was cooked and how dry it was. Our waitress took them both back and said they will re-cook them. The manager then comes back over with my girlfriends steak to show us the filet, saying “what was the issue with the filet”. We stated we thought it was over cooked for medium and the manager replied with “this is our medium”. While the picture is not the greatest, I will say there was a little pink in the dead center of the steak but not medium. At this point I was extremely upset that the manager would come back with the steak and try to argue with the customer. I asked if we could just pay for our appetizers and drinks and leave. The manager then said “we can warm yours up to temp and remake the filet”. I did not want that after the steak being brought back being told it was medium. The manager then said “we can only comp you for one of the steaks”. I’m not sure why that is if we did not even eat them. But I said that’s fine. I’ll take the one that was undercooked home. Overall just a terrible experience with the steaks. I have no idea how this place was voted best steakhouse in the greater Cleveland area when this is what they are serving for $65. I feel bad for our waitress because she was great and everything leading up to this point was good.
$300 for the amount of food we got for 2 people is absurd. The servers were outstanding but I can't get past feeling gouged. The insult came when they added a 4% credit card fee. I was on their web site prior to dinner so I brought my debit card which bypasses the credit card fee. I was told the fee was for using ANY plastic and could not be removed unless I was paying cash. Then that is what the web site should say. No way to lower the tip since that is also a minimum 15% gratuity and they will modify the bill if you do. I did give the wait staff 20% because they were awesome and have nothing to do with billing decisions. I also learned that the owner has a thing for custom made Italian suits. Feels like I paid for one. Zero chance I ever go back. I can think of a dozen other places with equally great food without over charging.
The ambience was beautiful and the staff was professional, which gave the evening a promising start. The drinks were enjoyable and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the setting. The appetizers were underwhelming. The escargot were rubbery, though the crab cakes were a bright spot. The creamed corn special ended up being the best dish of the night, which says a lot about the rest of the meal. The biggest disappointment was the Fire Bourbon Ribeye, a 26oz cut aged 50 days. It was meant to be the highlight, but arrived burnt and overcooked. For a dish presented as the star of the menu and priced accordingly, it was a major letdown. The restaurant did acknowledge my birthday with a rose and complimentary dessert, which was thoughtful, but it did not make up for the quality of the food. When you spend this much on a special occasion, expectations are high. In this case, they were not met. Beautiful atmosphere, but the food fell far short of what it should have been. If you are considering this restaurant for a celebration, be cautious.
This was my first time back since new ownership. And I won’t be back. This used to be an upscale establishment where people dressed up for a fine dining experience. The majority of people were in jeans. It was loud and crowded. The prices are astronomical for what you get. All the red, gold and black. Ugh. Looks like a Vegas lounge. This was one of my grandfathers favorite, classy restaurants in Akron. No longer I’m sad to say.
Normally I would not complain especially since I’ve had excellent service and food here in the past. However I was celebrating my fiancés birthday over the weekend and was very excited to have a wonderful night. Our two waitresses were amazing and one of the reasons I did not complain. When the food came I took one bite and was so disappointed the oyster Rockefeller was ice cold. My ribeye that I order medium was rare as rare can be. It was also priced at market value so nothing cheap. Even after I heated it up in the microwave it is still red in the middle. Not good at all. Very disappointing night. Especially for a big tab of which I would gladly pay for great food. Not this time.
I’d like to start by saying service was great, waiters were quick and well spoken, valet hustled and were very polite. Me and my fiancé have been to almost every steakhouse between Akron and Cleveland and this one is probably at the bottom of our list. We both ordered steaks, a filet and a $100 dry aged NY strip. The filet was chewy and lacked flavor. The strip was very flavorful but I had ordered it medium rare and it came out with a purple with a cold center, after taking it back and cooking it more it came back to me warmer but still undercooked. I didn’t want to send it back AGAIN because I was hungry and over waiting for my food for a second time. Sides weren’t much better, Mac and cheese was practically spiral noodles with a light coating of cheese and nothing else. After sending a $100 steak back to be cooked again you’d expect to receive a discount on that particular item or maybe a free dessert, something. But no, nothing was comped on the bill, oh and you have to pay extra to get a big cube in your old fashioned. Again, server and his assistant were great but management and kitchen staff could use some reassessment.
Had a decent dinner here. The oysters were delicious and the filet was cooked perfectly. The crab I felt was not as good. For the most part though the dinner and drinks were great. However our dinner soured when we were asked to leave abruptly 90 minutes into service while I was still enjoying my after dinner cocktail. I feel as though 2 hours is standard to accommodate 3 or more courses at an upscale restaurant. In all my years of fine dining I have never been asked to leave to turn over a table.
A wonderful night and meal ( $600 + ) ended with being asked to leave because "someone with a reservation was waiting??!?!" I dont know what that has to do with me and my dining experience, but maybe manage your reservations better? Ive never in my life been asked to leave a place after 1.5 hrs when ordering drinks, starters, main, and desert. Wild work and a shame because we probably won't ever return because of the way she asked. Our waiter was great and did an excellent job though, very much enjoyed his service.
