Great costumer service 👏. Food is amazing is my second time there. Second time as well trying guatemalan food..Atol de elote is bomb 💣
I bought a lg Leche cake in the bakery next door owned by Las Esperanza for my brother's birthday cake. Very excellent cake get it back to a refrigerator right away as it has milk in it. It's a very most cake and light to digest. My family loves it! It has chocolate dropped down the sides and fruit and oreo cookies with whip creamon top. They have some in the glass cooler case and others in the back which you can have then write anything on top as well. I give the cake 5 stars!
This place was amazing, my first time trying El Salvadorian food. The service is great and the food was amazing. I went with a group of coworkers. My only regret was not taking photos of the food. I highly recommend La Esperanza.
First time here. Drove from Anaheim due to word of mouth that food was very good. They did not disappoint. We tried Guatemalan and the Salvidorian dishes and all was great. We also did not head back home without stopping first to buy different pastries from their bakery. We'll definitely make a trip back here again soon.
What a find! I first heard about their take-out tamales and bakery, which are both fabulous, but there is so much more to La Esperanza. On my first visit a few weeks ago I had the pupusa plate: One Revuelta (beans, chicharron and cheese) and one Chorizo and cheese and they were both delicious. Plate comes with rice and beans and includes Curtido (spicy slaw) and red hot sauce. A lot of food for a very reasonable price. I also had the Elote tamale with crema. One of the best corn tamales I've ever had. Last night I tired the Loroco and cheese pupusa and I have to say it was the best one so far. Also tried a Chuchito (Guatemalan tamale): full of pork and the warm tomato salsa was yummy. Service is impeccable and I even got a free appetizer both times (tortilla with the smoothest and most delicious black beans). I will coming here much more often, can't wait to try some other specialties on the menu.
How have I missed this place all this time? Super delicious and wonderful service! I got to come here with my co workers and already seeing when I can go in with my family! The Pupusas were the BEST that I’ve ever had! The juice was so refreshing and delicious too! Will definitely be back soon!
My bestfriend and I visited this spot since we were craving pupusas. The lady of the house assisted us and was extremely helpful and friendly. She recommended CHURRASCO GUATEMALTECO. Though expensive, it tasted amazing. The meats include pork, beef, chicken, and chorizo along with guacamole and salsa. This was a great meat sampler. Salvadorian Horchata was interesting in flavor because it is different from Mexican Horchata. This one has a nutty flavor (almond). My bestfriend liked it. I got the Atol de Elote. It tasted like a warm 🤗 hug. It was predominantly condensed milk flavor but it has some spices in it along with corn. I bet this would be great cold, too. Lastly, the Chicharron pupusa was my favorite from all the other pupusas we got (cheese and the other is shrimp). It was toasted until crispy on the outside and still warm and soft on the inside. I recommend this place 100% and will come back to try other food they got to offer.
This place is absolutely AMAZING! Living in LA is great but true salvaordian or even good Mexican food is hard to find. This place gets better with every bite. The waitresses are wonderful while offering items that are popular and that they also enjoy themselves. The papusas are what you truly come here for! But the tacos are the icing on the cake for me. The carne taco was well flavored and great portions of meat. My buddy had the pastor and the seasoning truly showed through. The ambience is beautifully Salvadoran and feels very inviting. If you're ever in Torrance and have a hankering for either Mexican or salvadorian food this place is a MUST!
I don’t know if I’m being totally fair in this review as I am deprived of Guatemalan food, living in Central PA. But, I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and the food here at La Esperanza. I googled this place and saw it got decent reviews and decided to go there on. Whim. I’m staying in Rodono beach and it was a short 15 min drive from there and totally worth it. Service was great and food was so so so good. Reminded me of Sunday breakfasts with my family growing up. There is Spanish music (marimba and other Guatemala and Salvadorian) playing in the background to add to the already authenticity of this place. The atol de elote and atol de plátano were just simply delicious, my only complaint is that the salsa picante wasn’t spicy enough for me. Otherwise it was pretty on point. Enjoy! Y buen provecho!!!
Tried La Esperanza Guatemalan and Salvadoran cuisine. Tried the Pepian beef stew, garnachas (mini tostadas topped with ground beef) and empanadas filled with meat and spices. Really good flavors, hearty portions, and friendly service. The tortilla appetizers came out hot and delicious with the black bean dip..
This place was Cousy and comfy. I ordered combo fajita and pupusas ( with a MUST TRY) comment on the menu. I also ordered to drinks as I will share a photo. My scores: Horichita ( brown drink) : too sweet to drink 2/5 Tamarindo: ( orang drink) : smooth taste 4/5 Fajita: taste good and smelled good 5/5 Pupusas : I didn’t like it! Too oily which felt unhealthy! Maybe others liked it but I didn’t In general nice place and friendly people, maybe I have to try other foods and snacks next time
This restaurant here not only does it have Guatemalan and Salvadoran food it also has a some Mexican dishes. Prices are pretty reasonable, you can either dine inside or to-go. The Guatemalan Tamal was superb 👌, the horchata is made from scratch and it is also very delicious, it is a south American recipe so you will get e corn taste. The popusa revuelta did hit the spot. pretty good size. Keep in mind this is my "personal opinion" and you have to consume the food to evaluate it for yourselves. The service is a bit slow but that may be due to everything being prepared as ordered so it can all be fresh. The only negative thing is that their menus are a simple sheets of paper with back and white images. I was craving authentic Guatemalan food and thought to try this place again. This time of course due to Covid19 we ate outside, but the server was very nice and attentive. He gave us some recommendations too which were very tasty. I had the atol de elote, which I recommend. The tamal was good, but it needed that flavor that I was expecting to get from a Guatemalan tamal. I enjoyed the black beans with handmade corn tortilla. The chicken pepian was delicious.
I was really disappointed that the rosca did not have the baby Jesus inside. My child was so upset that he started crying, and we almost ate the entire rosca searching for it. If the baby isn’t included, there should at least be a clear warning, or the baby should be placed on the side of the box/tin so families can add it themselves. That said, the rosca itself was still delicious, which is why I’m giving it 3 stars instead of fewer. The taste was great, but the missing baby really took away from the tradition and the experience.
I was craving tamales, and my husband mentioned La Esperanza because it’s right down the street from us. We placed a pick-up order over the phone, and they said it’ll be ready in 15min. So we drove down to pick it up, and it was ready. Yay! The restaurant itself is small, and it looked like you could dine in. They have alcohol as well if you want a drink. We went home, and we dug right in. We ordered tamal de elote, tamal Mexicano, tamal Guatemalteco, platanos, and a slice of tres leches cake. The tamal de elote were just okay. They were steaming and were very hot, which is how we like it! The other tamales however, were cold. We had to put them in the microwave! That’s the worse! We only traveled literally two minutes, they should not have been cold. The platanos were hot and yummy. The tres leches cake was delicious! Very moist and spongy. Overall, the food was eh. I would probably only go back for the cake.
We were all excited about the bakery, we ordered a tres leches cake for our grandson's 3rd birthday, we asked the cashier if the cake was fresh, she said it was. When we got home and cut it, not only is it sour and tasteless, it's clearly an old cake & the "fresh fruit" is sour and clearly not safe to eat as well. This was a $50.00 cake, the celebration was ruined. We feel cheated and taken advantage of. What a waste of money!! I'm calling the store!
Walked in two days ago party of four around 6pm. Full house, under-staffed & freezing cold. Sat down to a filthy, greasy table. Asked the waitress to wipe the greasy table. As she was wiping she told me that these tables were MADE to be greasy. At this point I thought “what am I doing here?” We got menus, waited five minutes. No service, not even water. So we walked out. Best decision I made all day. Food is usually good here, but we never got the chance. Quite a disappointing experience.
