I had a fantastic meal at Nola! The atmosphere is always lively and colorful, making it the perfect spot for a weekend hangout. As for the food: Grilled Asparagus: Perfectly charred and a great fresh start. Avocado Toast: Surprisingly elevated and very satisfying. Crescent City Cooler: Refreshing, well-balanced, and easy to drink.
So good I had to double back twice! The atmosphere caught me first as I went to celebrate a milestone and grab a drink. The music was good and staff were polite. The mariposa margarita was perfect not too strong and yet it did its job! I was then enticed for an appetizer. I ordered the garlic bread with the bubba sauce and wow!!! That was probably the best I’ve ever had. Then I had to grab a plate to see what they were really all about. I ordered the Mr. T’s famous teriyaki skirt steak with garlic mash and sautéed green beans and my favorite crispy onion strings. Everything was so amazing, I told everyone as soon as I left that we’d be going there next time we ate. Went back twice in the same week! A++ from me and I highly recommend day or night, the vibe was right for both. Enjoy, cheers!
This place is always my top pick for couples date night or just date night with my wife. Food is great, beer is great. Definitely recommend Nola. Wait time can vary. On a busy night you can normally wait 40 minutes plus, or up to just 10 minutes. But I never leave disappointed.
Decided to pop in while on a walk, never been before. I loved the Mardi Gras vibe/decor they had going on. My husband and I sat at the bar to watch some football. I got the bottomless mimosa, and he got a hurricane. We also shared the beignets, which came with a chocolate sauce, raspberry sauce, and a Caramel sauce to dip them in. The caramel and raspberry were delicious, but the chocolate sauce... I wasnt impressed with. The beignets were hot, fresh and delicious. The bottomless mimosa was unlimited refills for 90min, it was a fun experience. I would definitely come back for dinner to try their other food.
Great options to eat Loved my warm chicken Napa cabbage salad, beet salad was also among favorites Normally you'd have a hard time finding table but we were lucky for Saturday lunch to walk in
Whenever we are in Palo Alto, Nola is always our top choice. The vibe feels warm, welcoming, full of energy. Every item on the menu stands out, making it hard to choose just one favorite. The Spicy Jambalaya and Crispy brussel sprouts is rich, comforting, packed with deep flavor. Each main dish is crafted with care, making every visit memorable and worth repeating.
Love the option for Louisiana style food in downtown Palo Alto. Place is super busy and has a lot of great food options. If you can grab a spot at the bar, take it - the bartenders are friendly and it's fun to watch them mix drinks. And they're really good if you ask for "bartender roulette" with your favorite liquor - the violet hour s was the gin drink served and was delicious. There's plenty of food, so a small plate is perfect for one with a smaller appetite. Take an opportunity to get some freshly shucked oysters and absorb the NOLA atmosphere!
Recently went to Nola for an early dinner and drinks with coworkers and had such a great time. Perfect spot for small bites and sharing plates. The shrimp tacos were so good I ended up ordering three rounds - that says everything 😄 Great atmosphere, delicious food, and ideal for a casual get-together. Will definitely be back!
After Thanksgiving, we took a drive to Stanford shopping center and downtown Palo Alto to see the lights decoration for Chistmas. We walked around and found this restaurant on Yelp. Cajun stuff so we decided to try out. It was hard to find due to road construction but we got there. We liked the cozy design of the restaurant, 2 levels with an open looking down at the floor. We didn’t have to wait and got seated right away. The lights are so dim that we need phone light to read the menu, I used the phone to scan the menu to see clearly. Appetizers were recommended baked oysters, quite delicious but $4/piece is a little steep. Jambalaya is their signature plate, and my wife really liked it, the best anywhere, to me it’s too hot spicy. I had the chicken pasta which is extremely flavorful and seasoned perfectly, although the chicken has a few extremely chewy and tough, not sure what part of the breast? The tab beer russian ale is very good and strong. I tasted a hint of passion fruit. It’s quite nice to try a new restaurant, there are many small plates which I would love to try next time we’re here. Many tacos, sliders, I would try. Parking on the streets, the servers are young, pleasant and attentive😎😎😎
Best spot for food and drinks in Palo Alto! I will reviews from our 2 visits for dinner then brunch the next morning before the cal-Stanford big game. Dinner had about a 30 min wait, sat outside under heater. Margarita pitchers are good and strong, the vegan impossible jambalaya and portobello po boy are outstanding. Ceviche was well received. Smash burger was on the small side. Cauliflower taco was yummy. Brunch had bottomless mimosa option which we added but it was literally 90% OJ so we will prob pass the next time- they are also on a timed system where they only pour at specific intervals not when you’re empty etc. it’s cheap though so wasn’t a big deal. Breakfast foods were great! French toast, breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, avocado toast were all excellent. Will come here anytime if in town
Dining at Nola feels like New Orleans, until you remember you’re actually in Silicon Valley. The crawfish étouffée was deeply flavorful—rich, velvety, and layered with spice in a way that felt both soulful and refined. But it was the dungeness crab garlic bread that stole the evening: a golden canvas of warmth, its edges crisp, its center tender, layered with delicate crab that lent both sweetness and grandeur. Nola offered more than a meal—it was a journey of flavors that echoed New Orleans while firmly rooted in Palo Alto. ++ - very friendly staff - vibrant ambiance - good selection of cocktails - The tableware reveals a subtle patina from years of use.
Nice restaurant with some outdoor seating options. It’s located on a small street that is closed off so you’ll need to find public parking. Another restaurant offers free WiFi which is nice. The food is good and the service is excellent. You can order and pay with your phone or with your server.
Wow, what a wonderful experience! Came across this place on father's day, looking for a spot to eat. All of the other places required reservations. We got seats right away, food right away, and the service was amazing! The atmosphere in the back felt like we were in New Orleans. Prices were reasonable, and we left feeling great. Will now be our go to spot in Palo Alto

I attended a Stanford party that was hosted at this restaurant on a Saturday evening. The ambience is really cool and immediately reminded me of New Orleans ; especially the courtyard setting, decorative beads, and vibrant artwork that create a lively, festive atmosphere. Since this was a private event rather than a regular dining visit, I can’t comment much on their usual service or standard menu experience. The food was pre-selected for the party and served buffet-style. I tried several items - the sliders were definitely the highlight and I ended up going back for more. The salmon tacos and cauliflower tacos were also good; they leaned more toward American-style tacos rather than authentic Mexican street tacos, which is understandable given the cuisine focus. The drinks were enjoyable, with pre-mixed margaritas, sangria, and a full bar available. Overall, I really loved the ambience and energy of the place. If you’re craving Cajun-inspired food or looking for a fun, lively setting, this is definitely worth a visit.
spicy jambalaya was good. rice was a little soft. got the regular spicy, has the perfect amount of heat. the flavor was decent. firecracker cajun pasta was decent. pasta was al dente. the flavor was a little on the sweet side. was not exactly what i expected. milk money was meh… not enough alcohol, otherwise the drink would have been amazing. the milagros guacamole was below average. not enough seasoning for the guacamole. the chicken andouille sausage was okay… the roux was not super impressive, wished it had more intensity.
Nola has been a Palo Alto institution for decades. The name is descriptive, it features New Orleans cuisine. It'd been a while since I was last there, and I remembered the food as better. It was a bit of a letdown now. The jambalaya lacked flavor and relied on heat instead. The non-alcoholic cocktail that I ordered on the surver's recommendation resembled sugary fruit punch; the sprig of mint livened it up a bit. My dining companions did not rave about their food either. Service was great, and ambiance was appropriate for the weekend after Fat Tuesday. Overall: solid, yet unimpressive.
Cool atmosphere, great for meeting up with friends. Food is alright, if you've been to Orleans and know authentic New Orleans food, extend Grace and just keep in mind you're in California. Drinks are tasty. Staff is friendly.
Saw the recommendation online. Decided to take the fam and the kid here after a blessed Sunday. The set up and ambience is kind of odd but it works well. Was able to watch the football games in the lounge area. They have a separate bar, outdoor seating and a villa style dining area which is awesome. What we ordered: Guacamole: smaller serving for $11 but delicious: chips were light. 8/10 Skirt steak kids meal: must try and delicious. Grilled perfectly and Had an Asian taste to it. Mash and veggies were good. 8/10 Jambalaya: not worth $18 as it’s a very small serving. Loaded and good. 7/10 Gumbo: highly recommend the cups over the bowls as it’s overpriced and the cup is worth it at $7. Huge prawns and was good. 7/10 Kids meal tenders and fries: comes with ranch and ketchup so you don’t need to ask. Came out hot and fresh. Shoe string fries. Kid approved. They were good. Mojitos: lacked alcohol; hardly present. Should add a little bit more. Our bill came out to $132 with tax and tip with 4 people. Not bad and Would go again but be wary about over ordering or your bill can easily go up. Great for sports, celebrations, first dates, kid friendly. Great service. Good atmosphere.
A fun place to eat and drink! For about $71 before tip we ordered several small plates and something called a “moron bowl,” aka a few different types of rum with a mixer. It arrived in a large glass with four straws (there were only two of us, oops). The blurry photo of the inside of the space was taken post-moron bowl. 😵💫 We sat outside, but next time, we’ll eat inside. The atmosphere in there looks really fun. It’s nice that the bar stays open until 1. Also, there were plenty of vegetarian options available.
Total Score: 7.60 Bathroom: 4.25/5 Love the color palette, but floor and sink were a bit icky though Customer Service: 3.5/5 Was a bit hard to grab but they were nice and quick with the food Ambiance: 4.5/5 Very Palo Alto core. It had that indoor outdoor thingy whatever you call that. Also the heater 😍😍 Food: 4.25/5 No complaints about the food, all the bites were YUM. And my drink packed a punch. Solid place to come for happy hour after shopping nearby. \n\nExtensive menu but especially enjoyed the wings & Mac & cheese. \n\nSliders made sure the meal was fulfilling as well!

I loved the ambiance at Nola in Palo Alto, especially its charming colonial-style setting. However, the food was a letdown as it arrived cold, giving me the impression that it had been pre-prepared hours in advance. While this allowed for quick service, it affected the quality. The cocktails were delicious, and I highly recommend the Mexican coffee. The QR code ordering and payment system was efficient. Overall, a good experience with some room for improvement.
It's fusion Asian American bar and restaurant with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Full bar with big screens and beautiful decors. Bar and restaurant are kinda independent. Reservation helps but walk in OK. Food is just OK, nothing fancy but atmosphere and drinks are vibrant and exciting. Service was very slow and unresponsive though. Flat entry and outdoor seating make it accessible. Good for couples, small groups, meetup and not for kids.
Nice restaurant with beautiful decorations. There are a lot of dishes to choose, the food tastes okay.

There is minstrel era and black face art EVERYWHERE. If this was a black-owned restaurant, I would totally understand, but this is absolutely, revoltingly tone deaf otherwise. I understand they are relics of the era that are on theme for the restaurant and historically accurate, but this is NOT the first time restaurants have been publicly condemned for this. They should know better, especially as a restaurant owned by a restauranteur group. We asked the sever and there was no explanation, no education, no purpose for the art. Maybe this would be better if there was an educational aspect included, a brief paragraph or QR code, but this is racism for the sake of spectacle and shock. Greg St. Claire is the owner of Nola and not a black man, yet the restaurant makes money by selling Creole culture. This is a complete a slap in the face to black people and black culture to DISPLAY RACIST ART.
