Opinions de Cafe Jolie Alameda
The service is excellent and food was great. We got beignets for the table and I got a croquet madame with a latte. Everything was fresh and tasty. For Sunday brunch, we had to wait about 15 minutes which was not bad at all.
Absolutely amazing breakfast spot! I had the avocado toast and French onion soup, and both were absolutely fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. My husband ordered the vegetarian omelet, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. To top it all off, the matcha tea was outstanding—smooth, rich, and the best I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves delicious food and warm service!
We are visiting from Kansas and were delighted to have found this cute restaurant for brunch. A very friendly but busy waitress seated and took our order and it arrived within a very short wait. the omelet and sandwich were both beautiful and delicious. We can't wait to return and try the burger. It has a small menu and open 9-1 weekdays but very enjoyable atmosphere to have a fantastic brunch
Cafe Jolie was a very welcomed discovery after a disappointing experience at Neptune's around the corner. Great place to have breakfast before exploring local attractions. Very nice corner restaurant with European flare, good parking and fun energy. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating with lovely atmosphere. Great menu with reasonable prices. The food was excellent and filling. We enjoyed a Croque Madame, Cinnamon French Toast as well as Crab Cake Benedict. All dishes hit the spot perfectly. For 4 people expect to pay around $100 with soft drinks and coffee. Food was prepared relatively quickly and served warm. There is a small menu for kids as well featuring usual favorites. The service was slow, not attentive or interested. While the host seemed very accommodating the waitress was the complete opposite. Much training is required to elevate the customer experience in the dining room. If customers sit down and wait for 20 minutes, it feels like they are being ignored. It is not a good feeling. Perhaps starting them of with some drinks is manageable even in the most busiest of places. Again, food was great and that is what ultimately brings us back. There is a big parking lot free of charge just behind the building with at least 2 spots for persons with disabilities.
I went to Cafe Jolie for the first time this weekend. It was nice to be able to finally try it. I went there with 2 friends of mine to have brunch. We ordered the Jolie's Favorite, Croque Madame and Crab Cake Benedict. We all enjoyed our food and I look forward to coming back with my family. Update- I went again with my family for their 10 year anniversary. My kids loved their Beignets and my husband loved his Eggs Benedict. I had the Crab Cake Benedict this time. We look forward to coming back. We have been going back several times. We get our usual but I also get the lavender latte.
While in town visiting my cousins they decided to bring me here for Brunch. It seemed to be a popular stop and the staff was friendly enough. It was a cute little spot and my food was good enough. I had the Monte Cristo. It was a bit too greasy for me. I should have followed my 1st mind and gotten the Jolie Mix with a Pancake. The eggs that my cousin had looked so light and fluffy... They said the Lattes were great as well. I will have to try them again and get something different before I completely make up my mind on them... But, it wasn't a bad visit at all...
Came here for breakfast with my girlfriend on a Tuesday morning and it was the perfect move. It was nice and calm during the week, and we grabbed outdoor seating to enjoy the sun. Super relaxed vibe. The food was honestly amazing. Everything tasted fresh, portions were solid, and it came out looking just as good as it tasted. Coffee was on point too. It just felt like one of those easy, feel good breakfast spots. I’ve seen this place get crazy busy on the weekends, so coming on a weekday was clutch. If you want a more chill experience, I’d recommend doing the same. Definitely coming back. Try their Matcha latte 🔥
Art neavau brunch vibe with french posters. Breakfast until 2pm on weekends. Popular but a lot of tables. I enjoyed the classic eggs Bene, bit my partner thought the crouque monsieur was missing a decent cheese to give it taste. County potatoes were great. Service was fast and courteous.
Our family sat in the outdoor seating area and was immediately greeted and took our order. However, the food was very mediocre and not worth the overinflated prices. We ordered 2 burgers and 2 glasses of orange juice and a side of fries and it was $100! The burger was okay, a bit dry and the sweet potato fries were way too soft and had an odd smell/taste to them. Would not recommend.
Ambient is with French style cafe furniture and strings. Waiters are responsive and polite. Serving size is generous American size portion. Large variety of great brunch, sandwiches and drinks! Located a corner lot with large space for indoor and outdoor seating. It has a decent size parking lot but street parking should be available too. Great for dates or weekend brunches.
Waited to seated 20mins not bad. I ordered the Jolie favorite scrambled eggs , potatoes and chicken sausage. It was a good portion and good. My wife ordered the eggs Benedict but the ham was just a deli slice not the regular baked ham. The holiday sauce wasn’t good. My son ordered the French toast and it was good. The lavender latte is delicious. The beignets were ok. Needed something.
Stopped by as my mom wanted to try the place again. In this visit we found the service to be slow. Just like what other reviewers noted too. We had to flag down a server to check on our food. Once they went back to the area to check on it we saw that they were carrying it out with in a minute. This means our food was sitting ere for a while. The place wasn't busy as there are a few open tables but we still waited for a table. We counted the number of guess and looked at the number of workers. They had a good ratio. Not sure why it was so slow. When the food arrived it looked good. Instagram ready. Flavors were okay. Overall its a 3 star place, but with a 2 star service. If you want to try out the place make sure you have extra time.
I can see why the current total rating is 3.8. The plate presentation is nice. About a 15 minute wait. Food was ready in less than 15 minutes. They use metal straws. For a standard brunch it is just fine. The Kitchen staff was working consistently and as a team. They don't do reservations. They are tight on the substitutions. The omelet section says "Please No Substitutions". The waitress was gossiping about other workers to another waitress with a full restaurant. Nothing special or exciting about the brunch food; it's basic. It's cold inside as well.
Unfortunately my family and I did not have a good experience here. Our food just didn’t come out right for us. Our bacon was burnt and mostly everything was cool to the touch including our French onion soup. My entree seemed like it got forgotten about as it came out several minutes after. My wife asked for well done eggs and they came out runny! The waiter was very nice though. We did however go to this restaurant on a Sunday which is a fairly busy day. I’m not sure if I would drive that far away to return to this restaurant again.
Update: April 2024- Not sure what’s going on,but this place is falling through the cracks. It’s been understaffed, under stress and the quality of the food is going down as well. I’m not recommending it to anyone I know anymore. Old post: Nice atmosphere and good experience for brunch. Super friendly staff, best latte coffee and french toasts.
Just had their Salmon Florentine, which over 95% stayed on the plate. Before I start last time I ate here was over 10 years ago with family. The poached eggs were the only highlight on this meal and anyone can poach an egg at home. The soggy English muffin was covered with an overly salted red onions that were pickled there-but poorly, and the cuts were huge and horrendous. The greens atop of the muffin were old & some of the purple lettuce was spoiled as well as some parts of the greens. The country potatoes had no seasoning at all and were sad to say the least. I ordered the bacon as backup not knowing how the smoked salmon would turn out and it was older than the bacon, which looked absolutely hammered and had tons of grease. The salmon was smoked but it had already turned bad. As a person who worked in restaurants and being a person who likes to fish and occasionally smoke fish, it takes quite sometime to turn smoked fish bad. The chef covered the salmon with the poached eggs and tons of the onions to mask the disaster. The waitress asked if everything was good, but I sensed as she looked at my plate that I was not happy. However she didn’t ask to remedy the meal which further cemented my opinion of this place. I quietly nodded “yes everything is ok” and here’s why. I’m not talking about eating at the French Laundry or Chëz Panisse, a simple breakfast is all I needed and I live here in town several blocks away from this establishment. That being said if this was their attempt to make a good impression what is the point to send something back to the kitchen they couldn’t get right the first time. It never comes out better in places like this. Never. The last time I ate here was with family. This was thee last time I eat here. Go to Oakland, maybe there’s something better on Park street options are slim at best for breakfast. Grab a donut next door and a coffee you’d be better off.
We really wanted to like this place! We just moved to Alameda and this was our first meal outing for breakfast. We were majorly disappointed with the service. Our server took our drink order and did not return to our table until over 30 minutes later, without our drinks and had forgotten what our drink order was to begin with. After 30 minutes, we flagged a different server to take our full order and bring our drinks. Our food came about 15 minutes later but only for 2 of 3 from our party. One person in our party did not get their order and we then had to flag someone else down to let them know. Once we received the final food order, the rest of us had already finished eating. We then ordered drinks to sip while our other guest finished their meal and the server brought the wrong drink. All in all, the food was alright but the service is what really made this experience. So many mistakes back to back made this experience so comically difficult. We wish we could say we’d come back but we are left with a bad taste after this.
