The salt and pepper wings were well worth it. Great experience sitting at the counter with some of the regulars
Fantastic service and outstanding food! 😀 The chicken wings are a must-try, perfectly golden brown with an irresistibly crispy exterior that gives way to juicy, tender meat inside. Every bite is packed with flavor and crunch. The Steamed Pork with Mushroom and Chinese Sausage transported me straight back to Canton China. The savory aroma of the sausage, the natural sweetness of the mushrooms, and the well seasoned pork come together in a wonderful balanced dish. Celebrating Father’s Day at the Capital Restaurant was absolutely worth the trip. Lots of parking near by parking structures.
The chicken wings are salty perfection. The rest of the dishes are all tasty as well. Including the fried wonton soup, sweet and sour spare ribs, walnut prawns and green beans. The clay pots with tofu and wet shrimp chow fun are also especially tasty. Service is typically frantic as they’re fulfilling to go orders for chicken wings with a very lean staff. Order the wings on big game days at your own risk.
Capital Restaurant has a Chinatown basement restaurant vibe even though it is on street level. Tables are tightly packed not meant for the average American. Previously, the tables were really sticky. Now they put table clothes on some tables. The counter lady is Toisan and is not friendly. The older waitress is nice but she is too busy to offer good service. One person to wait on 10 tables is kind of ridiculous. The food is meh. My house salt pepper wings $13.75 had too much salt. It was crispy but it needed more of a pepper taste. People around me seemed to enjoy it; as it is the house special. The beef stewed braised noodles $14.75 + wontons $3 ($17.75) was OK. It needed a little bowl of soup on the side, as most places will provide. The tendon pieces were too hard to eat. It should have been cooked longer. The added wontons were small and needed sesame oil or minced shrimp. Not good. Other than that, this meal was fine. I wasn't expecting much.
If we are talking Best Chicken Wings in San Francisco…this has got to be it!!! Located in Chinatown. Not only should you have their wings but also their minced beef with string beans….perfect combination with their fried rice! SFPD eat there so it means they are affordable and very good too!
The steam fish with bean curd is so delicious! As well as the oyster egg pancakes and the sour and spicy soup. Everything is delicious! A fulfilling meal after long day of work. Feels like coming back home. The service is great too, waiters are super friendly~ I will definitely come back again!
It was the right place to eat for lunch (probably it’s enough also for dinner, as well!)! Big portions, diversity and delicious dishes. We picked up the fried chicken wings which were extraordinary tasty, beef with green beens, Capital dumplings plate, frog with peanuts (I would recommend choosing ginger instead of peanuts because it’s easier to be digested) and a rice bowl. Good meal for the right price. We really recommend eating at this place while you stay in San Francisco.
Capital Restaurant in Chinatown is a true gem. The prices are super reasonable, and the owners are incredibly kind and welcoming. The food is always delicious, made with great quality, and the service is consistently attentive. Their famous chicken wings are an absolute must-try—crispy, flavorful, and absolutely addictive! Whether you’re dining in or taking out, you can always count on a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!
I like the Fried Chicken Wings with Salt & Hot Pepper at Capital Restaurant. It is better than most of the restaurants. The rest of the dishes we ordered are pretty average compared to the other Chinese restaurants in the area. The customer service is better than most restaurants in Chinatown, and the dining room is clean. I have a pretty good lunch.
During our tour of downtown San Francisco, we found ourselves extremely hungry. The recommendation of this place came from my son's friend. Despite the tight space, we ordered several entrees after my son assured me of their fried chicken's quality. Upon tasting, I was left speechless; the food is far superior to what I've experienced in Texas. It's indeed puzzling why Canton restaurants like this aren't found in Texas.
Simple no-frills restaurant with affordable prices and fast service. We ordered the chicken wings, since we heard it may be better than San Tung’s but didn’t think so after trying. It is definitely a large portion for the $15 price though, way more than we expected. We also got the pan fried noodles and the wonton noodle soup and both were OK. Overall not bad especially for the price, but there are also many similar options around the area/city so wouldn’t go out of way to go here specifically.
Not a bad choice for Chinese food around the area. Compared to the traditional Chinese food, it was quite close. I went for the wonton noodle soup and the most popular salt and pepper chicken wings. I must say the salt and pepper chicken wings was highly recommended. The only guy server was not bad as he tried to help when you ask for customized portion. He gave me half the salt and pepper chicken wings set which was good for me.
Honestly? I didnt think the chicken wings were super special.... They are definitely fried to perfection, but the seasoning is underwheming to me, I personally prefer more flavorful variations of wings. Loved the honey walnut shrimp though, impeccably done. The hot and sour soup, mongolian beef, and fried rice were just okay. They're super sweet and it's such a nice spot tho!
I know I've eaten the fried chicken here many years ago and recall it being good. But I'm writing this review for my recent lunch experience as I'm on a hunt for the best value Mongolian beef in Chinatown. This place almost nailed it. The flavor is OK, the price seems just right, though the portions felt a little small compared to other nearby restaurants. A bonus, they apparently accept cards and from what it seems like, there's no extra charge like other places so I might not need to bring cash here next time.
This well-lit, cramped restaurant serves great food! The famous chicken wings are juicy, and satisfying. The spicy and tangy chicken hot and soup had plenty of egg ribbons, and the house special fried rice was deep and rich. The restaurant may have a skeleton crew, but the crew members are friendly, and quick to respond.
This place is maximum okay. Staff is not nice, not rude either they just do their job like a dead river follows the flow I took chicken wings and it was normal, okay, if you just buy wings, salt it and airfry at home it will be same. Have eaten better wings at KFC Atmosphere feels like this is the place for a construction workers brake Price is not that cheap, I just had a chicken wings with rice and it topped to 20$ Portion is big though, enough for 2
