Comparing the San Sun with like restaurants in Chinatown: solidly decent chao fun, CLEAN, well kept 1960s ambience, and VERY personable service. Becky is great. It's our new go-to restaurant for when we visit the city.
We were looking for a place to eat during Christmas Day and we’re happy we found this spot! The place is clean, staffs are nice, and the food was delicious! Their servings are quite big too. Highly recommended!
Super delicious Chinese spicy noodle with lot of beef! That’s wonderful! Last time the chief only gave me half of box noodle and made me upset. But today I gave the feedback to restaurant owner. Now they gave a big portion of full box noodles, definitely enough for my big stomach! Thumb up for their service and positive improvement attitude 👍 Definitely will come back again!
Amazing food, everyone in my group cleared their plate completely. 10/10 service, will definetly be coming again
I've been going to this restaurant since I was a kid. Their original location was on Stockton but they moved here when the subway station was settled for that area in Chinatown. The new location is a lot bigger and cleaner than the original but the food is the same. This is a mixed of Chinese and Vietnamese food. My favorite is the two noodle combo with the fried shrimp bread. With the garlic vinegar they provide, it's a combination of savory and sour flavors that remind me of childhood. My second favorite is #313, it's roll up chewy rice noodles with a delicious egg on top. You can choose between different meat options but I prefer the combination. Third favorite is the scrambled egg fried noodles. If you love runny eggs, this is the perfect dish for you. I prefer it with shrimp but many choose beef. I typically rotate between these three dishes.
The Pho is fantastic. My kids demolished a whole bowl of chicken pho. I had the beef pho and it was excellent. Also the firecracker chicken is really good. Reasonably priced, especially for San Francisco. Will come back when we go back to Chinatown.
What a gem in the heart of Chinatown. Wonderful and delicious Asian cuisine served up by a most friendly and courteous staff. The Bun Bo Hue was easily the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommended!
Kun Pao Chicken, excellent Egg rolls - Great, lots of flavor Chicken fried rice - kids loved it
Seated immediately. Wave to get your order taken. Didn't know whether to get pho or hainam chicken over rice. Got the rice some it's their specialty. Was really good. I liked it a lot. And their red bean coconut milk was really really good! I practically inhaled it all. Soup was given with my order. Tea was served a few moments after I sat down. HOT tea, it's good. :) This was a great random find for me.
Our family love shrimp & pork with vermicelli & yellow noodle.(including Phalo pork and fried shrimp cake. But don’t forget add garlic vinegar and baby hot pepper 🌶 dipped in vinegar too.) there’re many courses are delicious that we have to take time to try them all.❤️😋👍
Service was great and the food was amazing. Not evil chinese restaurant
Been coming to this restaurant ever since I was a little kid and one of my personal favorites to come eat at. The dishes come hot and packed with so much flavor & goes well with a hot cup of tea. They keep their establishment very clean which is always a plus.
Great local restaurant. Really nice staff that will make you feel valued and welcome. Enjoyed our lunch here in Chinatown.
One of my default lunch spots since they're consistently tasty. Can't quite break down whether this place is Vietnamese, Chinese, or some other combo, but the food comes out piping hot and the portions are sizeable. I usually get the satay chicken fried noodle dish, though the house "pure rice noodle" is pretty good as well, and that has those carby needle shaped noodles, with a big fried egg atop.
One of rare places in Chinatown that takes all sorts of credit cards! And very affordable price with great quality Cantonese food: fresh and big portion of seafood and meat! (note that don’t expect it’s the same as other Cantonese food as it’s from a region in Canton so the food is diff from those Cantonese food where dim sum is from)
Want some super Pho, look bo further. Super fast service and packed for lunch!! Went with spicy beef pho. Extra noodles. Piping hot fresh tea. Nice folks, solid pho! Lots of locals, few tourists. The soup is AMAZING!!!
Chanced upon this place while walking through Chinatown. Lovely meal and very friendly service. Totally recommended!
I enjoyed this place! The staff were very friendly. I ate the vegan curry option, and my wife ate port chops. Come to China town and visit!
Well the noodles are good the beef & fish balls are nice and the Thai tea with sweet condensed milk are sweat and dine in nice and covid was over and it's back and sanitized. 5 Stars
In Chinatown classic! I had the pure Rice noodle combination. My husband had the curry chicken and we split the eggrolls. They give you complementary hot tea and they are awesome people not to mention they were playing the best 80s music!!
-Update- After coming here several times already, this restaurant is still my place to go in China Town. The food is always delicious. My favorite is the tender beef pho. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. I highly encourage everyone to give it a try. -Original review- My favorite restaurant in China Town. Great food and great service. Very nice owners. Highly recommended!
We walked in and were warmly greeted by the staff. Our waitress was particularly friendly and chatty. We ate the Fish Cakes, Pork Kidney w/ Ginger & Onion, and Shrimp w/ 3 Kinds of Mushroom. The pork kidney dish was unique and really good. We liked everything.
Been coming here for 10years and while they may seem a bit short when communicating your needs are taken care of and the food is always good. My top 3 food to eat here are: 1) soft beef egg over rice - the texture of the egg is so good and very interesting to try if you’ve never had it before and don’t forget to add their chili crisp! 2) salted fish and chicken fried rice - the salted fish just has the right hit of saltiness and umami the rice is separated well 3) pork chop with noodles - pork chop is dry and that’s intentional the noodles are soft and it provides a nice contrast. I always aim for the perfect bite a piece of pork chop with noodle and soup at the same time and it always hits the spot on a cold day.

We passed by this place while exploring Chinatown. The place was spacious, clean, and we got sat as soon as we walked in. The food came out fast and the service was great! Definitely recommend checking out this place!
This was our first meal in China town San Francisco and it was delicious. We ordered two dishes and it was appetizing. The beef and egg were cooked perfectly, I love eggs less cooked when I eat this dish. The wonton soup also a must try ! Will be returning.
Good chinese food.. chicken rice is good especially with the garlic sauce.. the combination rice is also perfect.. the noodle and the wonton is perfect. Overall is one of the best chinese restaurant.. very recommended even though the parking could be a real problem in china town..

Visited here on Easter weekend, and it was a wonderful experience. The service was outstanding. You know it's going to be excellent when you have engaging conversations with the waiter and your family. The food was fantastic, offering great options for both meat lovers and vegetarians.
Maggie was fantastic! I ordered the beef and broccoli and was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful everything was. The broccoli had that perfect Asian-style tenderness and seasoning — absolutely delicious. The beef was juicy and well-cooked, and the overall dish hit all the right notes. Great service, great food. I love the white rice too! I’ll definitely be coming back!
The noodles that me and my mom ordered was a 10/10 and was so delicious!! I really miss going to this restaurant since it has been quite a bit and I’m so glad that I was finally able to go with my mom. I would really recommend this place if you love noodles (especially rice noodles) and I would definitely come here again when I can!! :3
By far, the best pho I've ever eaten! The flavor is amazing and you get a really big portion for a really reasonable price! I've been here multiple times and each time I leave feeling better. I cannot recommend this place enough! My favorite is the tender beef with pho noodle! Give it a try!

Decent Restaurant decent food. Service was fine, and I liked their chicken fried rice. The pricing was mediocre and the portions were just okay, but overall it's a pretty mid restaurant. Nothing all that special, nothing bad. I'd recommend you visit, but it's not a must go.
Brought my kids and nieces here. The food was good. I advise to go with shrimp. The beef was not the greatest. Good noodles dishes. Those were very popular. No wait.
Good food, nice staff Minus one star for the automatic 20% tip
Mix Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine. Friendly service. Lots of options. Reasonable prices.
Enjoyed this clean and bright restaurant. I was looking for Pho and found this spot. First, service is quick and kind. They immediately greeted us with a cup of tea without asking. I enjoyed the standard beef Pho. My husband had his with egg noodles. Nice presentation and quick. Very good broth but not exceptional.
Came here at 10am on my lunch break right when they opened, very spacious inside with plenty of tables and seating. Was greeted and seated and then I placed my order of Hainanese chicken w/ noodle soup. My order came out in 3-4 minutes which is fast considering that they just opened, it came with a generous bowl of rice noodles with a heap of green onions topped with fried onions and a plate of Hananese whole chicken leg that had a sauce soy sugar and ginger from what I can tell as a dip. The noodles were fresh and the chicken was very tender, for $16 the portion very filling and the food was good quality. Also the staff was very friendly and always had a smile.

The variety of noodle dishes here is amazing. If you’re a fan of noodles in all types of styles—soupy, fried, etc. This is a very classic place for that. My most fav thing is their Combination Needle Noodle otherwise known as “pure rice noodle” they envelope the noodles basically in a giant egg omelette. It’s bomb. Their soup noodles are also good.

The vegetable egg rolls were not my cup of tea. they were like a cross between an egg roll and a fried spring roll, but was chewy with hard spots you don't really wanna try and crunch through. The orange chicken was on the better side, and the Pho was decent enough. The chow mein had a distinct smokey flavor that was a little strong. Almost burnt but just a hair shy, kinda smokey.
Their portion is tiny, but they charge the same price like their peer restaurants. I’ve never had the experience in United States that after eating a full entree ($16) and I’m still hungry lol. Had to order a second entree ($15). The service is so so, typical China town service level. The food quality is also typical Chinatown level, not impressive, but not bad either. Not a disastrous experience overall but I wouldn’t recommend this place.
The food was disappointing and looks like they're trying to cut cost. Noodles were definitely not up to standards. They were cheap, so perhaps I should not expect good food? Service was poor, but expected. Cleanliness was so so. If you're looking for good authentic Asian food, avoid this place.
We expected something good from this place, but unfortunately we did not. My cup of tea was dirty, I asked for another one, the lady was not happy about it. The food prices are ok, but the cashew nut chicken had a really really really bad smell. The food was rotten. It smelled like a dog or cat. NO KIDDING!!!!!! We just ate the noodles. What a way to waste my money!!!
