Opinions de Côte Ouest Bistro Alameda
🇫🇷 An Authentic French Brunch Masterpiece If you are looking for the absolute best brunch in San Francisco, look no further than Cote Ouest Bistro. This charming spot in Cow Hollow/Presidio is a true neighborhood gem that delivers a level of authenticity and culinary excellence that is hard to find. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere sets the stage for a world-class meal. I’ve been to many French bistros, but this experience was on another level entirely. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and the quality of ingredients really shone through in every single bite. 🥩 Perfect Steak Frites and the Best Benedict The mains were the true stars of the show. I am particularly picky about my steak, but the steak frites here were executed flawlessly. I ordered it medium-well, and unlike most places that tend to overcook or burn the meat at that temperature, Cote Ouest served it perfectly juicy and tender. It was seasoned beautifully and paired with some of the best fries in the city. The Eggs Benedict was also an "OMG" highlight—the hollandaise was rich and velvety, and the overall dish was easily one of the best versions I’ve ever had. It is a must-order for any brunch enthusiast. 🥚 Phenomenal Starters and Presentation We started our meal with the deviled eggs, and I was blown away by both the presentation and the taste. They weren't just standard eggs; they were presented phenomenally and had a depth of flavor that was truly unexpected. It’s clear the kitchen puts as much effort into their small plates and shareables as they do their main entrees. The balance of creaminess and seasoning was spot on, making them a perfect opening act for the heavier dishes to follow. ☕ Exquisite Dessert and Coffee Pairings To round out the meal, we couldn't resist the apple tarte (Tarte Fine aux Pommes), and it was the perfect sweet finish. The pastry was delicate and crisp, and the apples were perfectly caramelized. Pairing it with a high-quality espresso and a cappuccino made the end of the meal just as enjoyable as the beginning. The coffee isn't just an afterthought here; it is well-crafted, with a smooth finish that complemented the dessert perfectly. Expert Cooking: The ability to keep a medium-well steak juicy is a mark of a truly skilled kitchen. Warm Atmosphere: The bistro has a cozy, authentic feel that makes you feel like you've been transported to Paris. Consistency: From the coffee to the main course, every element of the meal was consistent in its high quality. Friendly Service: The staff was attentive and contributed to the overall great experience. 👍 Final Verdict: A New Sunday Tradition I am giving Cote Ouest Bistro a well-deserved 5-star rating. It is a rare find where the food, service, and atmosphere all align perfectly. Whether you are looking for a romantic date spot or just want a high-end weekend meal, this is the place to go. I am already planning my next visit because this was, without a doubt, the best brunch experience I’ve had in a very long time.
It was Valentine’s Day. The restaurant was fully booked but the lady was kind enough to ask us to wait for a while to get us seats at the bar. I ordered chicken liver mousse and frites while my friend ordered benedict croissant. Both were delicious. The mousse was so smooth and delightful.
Stopped by Côte Quest Bistro for brunch and was impressed all around. The bread was perfectly crisp, the French onion soup came out hot and loaded with cheesy goodness, and the crème brûlée was absolutely fantastic. Service was friendly and efficient, and we were seated quickly. I’d recommend making a reservation, though, as the place fills up fast.
We went yesterday for lunch. OMG. What a nice French Gem! We had the salmon and a prawn salad. So very good but our absolute favorite was the chicken pate mousse. Homemade and decadent
Amazing food und surprisingly UNDERWHELMING coffee: latter was as it was maid by cheep machine. Benedict croissant was phenomenal. The mushroom omelette and quiche were very good as well! The chocolate mousse — superb. The outdoor patio is very nice and has heaters.
We went here for brunch, and ordered their crab sandwich special, mushroom omelette, and devilled eggs. Our food was delicious and the staff were very nice. But more specifically, we loved their homemade chips and the crab sandwich was phenomenal so make sure to try it while they have it. 👌🏻 The cappuccino I ordered was a bit watered down, and the deviled eggs were a bit too salty but the mushroom omelette was good. Overall, we loved our meal and will be back again!
Good food and fast service. Big serves. I could not finish the salad, mussels, chips and bread. Bread was free and fresh. Staff seemed happy. I went in at open time, 11.30am, on a Wednesday. It was 70% full by 12pm.
We dined at Cote Ouest Bistro because reviews said there was sidewalk dining that could accommodate our dog, making this little bistro quite dog friendly and close to the Presidio. Small cafe ambiance and quite busy once they opened for dinner at 5:30 pm (we wanted to eat early and be seated first since we had a dog). The host and the wait Staff were quite welcoming and the French menu was extensive. Midweek offered a special prix fixe dinner option for $40. We had the escargot, the sole, and the scallops... all very delicious and reasonably priced. This place is tucked away in a residential area of the Marina district just off busy Lombard Street, but in an area so quiet you would not know. Highly recommend and supportive of this small business.
My favorite French bistro in the city! My friend took me here for brunch last weekend, and I loved it so much that I came back the following weekend to try their dinner — and it did not disappoint. We had oysters, escargot, miso cod, and crème brûlée — everything was excellent. The escargot was rich and garlicky, the miso cod perfectly cooked and flavorful, and the crème brûlée had the perfect crackly top. We also enjoyed some Kir Royales, which added a festive touch to the evening. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy, elegant spot with consistently great food.
Came here for brunch on a Saturday morning. Incredible food, excellent service, and a really light and airy space made my first time doing indoor dining in 2021 a great experience. I especially loved that the servers were all speaking French to each other. Felt really authentic! Highly recommend the croissant French toast if you have a sweet tooth - it melts in your mouth. Can’t wait to come back to try their dinner menu.
A restaurant we went during restaurant week! The food is amazing! Everything was so on point!! Honest, it might be one of the best French bistro I ate in the city! Staffs were so friendly to us and very knowledgeable. The interiors were homey. We sat outside and it wasn’t cold at all. Plus it’s like 5 min away from palace of arts so you can just take a a walk after dinner. 10/10 recommending here!
We're french, so this was a no-brainer for us to go here but the service was fantastic, everything came fast & it was delicious. Went here again, and will keep going here! It was really good 😄
Mes compliments au chef. We were served the best crab sandwiches we have ever eaten - the crab was perfectly spiced and served between two delicately broiled slices of bread. The sandwiches were accompanied by tasty fries that we thought had been fried in duck fat but were simply fresh, not frozen, and perfectly crisped. We arrived shortly before the lunch crowd without a reservation and got one of the last two tables - there are tables inside and outside of the restaurant. The service was friendly and professional. The restaurant is located in a lovely neighborhood near the Palace of Fine Arts. We will definitely return for another meal. Helpful Hints: Based our our experience, I recommend you make reservations for lunch but especially for dinner. Cote Ouest is the perfect place to have a meal before or after a stroll around the Palace of Fine Arts or the nearby Presidio.
AMAZING French bistro!!! My husband and I came here for lunch during restaurant week for the first time. We ordered pate, lobster bisque, scallop risotto, and duck confit. All dishes (+plus their warm crusty bread) are so good!! The scallop risotto is just the physical embodiment of spring. So fresh and packed with high-quality ingredients. Lots of French restaurants in the Bay are more fancy than simply good food and good service, but this bistro combines the delicious food with friendly service and welcoming ambiance perfectly. Will definitely come again for brunch and dinner!

Fantastic place, time after time! It’s a no brainer: it’s always delicious and always so soothing to come here. Every plate is delicious, but what makes this place unique is not complicated: it’s like coming home. 🥹 Do not hesitate to come here, you won’t regret it!

Another little gem in SF. My husband and I went there for Thanksgiving with our little puppy. The food was really good from oysters to pate de champagne, from the turkey to salmon and don't skip the desserts, they are really amazing. The service is great, and the atmosphere is relaxing also in a busy holiday night. The list of the wines is impressive.
This is my go-to place for a great brunch experience. Took a few friends who said this is now one of their favorite places. Great French food, perfectly cooked omelettes, steak frites, etc. and really close to the Presidio and Lion Street steps so you can exercise it all off afterwards with a nice walk. Outdoor seating was perfect for our 2 dogs.
We had a wonderful meal start to finish. From the moment the owner greeted us warmly we felt like we had made a great choice. Our reservation was honored and we were seated promptly and the staff and owner came over to us throughout the meal to make sure we had everything we needed. We shared the onion soup that was spectacular and the summer salad and the cauliflower with grapefruit and goat cheese was another stand out. I had the sole fish special which was moist and flavorful and might partner loved her pork chop. And we finished with the warm chocolate desert that was incredible. The atmosphere inside is lively and fun and everything about the evening here was memorable. Can't wait to return.
Côte Ouest Bistro is a true neighborhood gem and one of the best places in San Francisco to enjoy an authentic French bistro experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a cozy, romantic atmosphere and genuinely attentive service that makes you feel right at home. The food is consistently excellent and impressively priced for the Marina area. Standout dishes include the duck confit, which is tender and perfectly cooked, the juicy steak frites served with outstanding fries, and the moules marinières frites, which arrive in generous, flavorful portions. The appetizers are equally memorable — the creamy chicken liver pâté and escargot are absolute must-tries. Brunch here is just as special as dinner. The croissant French toast and Eggs Benedict are favorites for a reason, and they perfectly capture classic French comfort with a refined touch. Save room for dessert — the Île Flottante and crème brûlée are both exceptional and a wonderful way to end the meal. The ambiance, combined with heated outdoor seating, makes Côte Ouest Bistro a fantastic choice year-round. It’s popular for a reason, so reservations are highly recommended. Overall, this restaurant delivers outstanding food, great value, and a warm, authentic French bistro feel. Highly recommended.
Each dining experience feels like an unforgettable one at Côte Ouest. From the moment we walk in, everything just clicked—warm hospitality, cozy vibes, and truly excellent food. Reminded me of a fond visit to a bistro in Bordeaux. Hubby and I chose this spot for a special occasion and couldn’t have picked better. Every dish was thoughtful and full of flavor, from the classic French onion soup to the bouillabaisse (our first time trying it—and wow, the bar is now very high). The wine list is fantastic, and Laurent’s pairing suggestions were spot on—especially the Beaujolais with the bouillabaisse, which we never would’ve thought to try ourselves. Huge shoutout to the server (possibly Stephanie?) for her genuine warmth and enthusiasm. Her care and problem-solving made us feel truly looked after. Service like that makes all the difference. The intimate space, open kitchen, and lively energy made the night feel special—and as a bonus, we even made new local friends thanks to Laurent. We’ll absolutely be back, if only for that bouillabaisse and the incredible hospitality. A must-visit in San Francisco!

This place is absolutely bomb. Super unique flavor profiles and a refreshing twist vs other restaurants in the area. Cauliflower was incredible. Will be coming back for the duck confit

I recommend this place for the atmosphere the service and the food was good. I took a mussels with French fries. I was a bit disappointed by the quantity of mussels in my plate. But I least it was very good, the French fries has been served with big portion. I took a glass of rose Bandol which was good. The staff were very warming and professional. I felt to me in France during one dinner. Moreover there is no 20% of charge or 6% mandate SF added to the check and this item make this place very different and special.

Good place for brunch with multiple options in both savory and sweet. I liked their Burrata salad very fresh and crab sandwich was also very good with sweet crab pesto in a brioche bread. Don’t miss their Chocolate cake!
