Opinions de Morella San Francisco
Absolutely amazing experience! We traveled from San Diego to San Francisco to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and Morella was at the top of our must-try list. We secured a reservation for Saturday, and despite the Formula 1 event happening nearby, we encountered only minimal wait times. The food was a solid 10/10. I enjoyed the purple pancakes, paired with a side of bacon that was unlike anything we’ve had before truly delicious! My husband opted for the steak plate and rated Morella an impressive 100/10. The service was exceptional; both our waitress and the hostess were incredibly friendly, contributing to an overall fantastic experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful and impeccably clean. Thank you for making my husband’s brunch celebration so memorable. We can’t wait to return!
gorgeous restaurant, staff was super sweet, and water refill game was on point ~ I didn't realize half the times they came by to refill. We ordered the truffle fries, crab arancini, and carbonara and everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the spritz tree during their weekend happy hour and it was also really good! We really wanted the ube pancakes but they said that the bananas were pre-mixed in and I'm unfortunately allergic to bananas.
First time and I was impressed with the ambiance, food and service. The Caesar salad was the best I've ever had! We tried several appetizers and main courses and all were delicious. I had the lamb bolognese was slow cooked and had much flavor. I'll be back. As a side note, I really liked the style of dishes.
Morella was on my radar for a few months before we finally got to go. It was an early dinner, and the dining area was just starting to fill up. The bar was busy, though. The service was excellent! We enjoyed everything we ordered, especially the carbonara and the rib eye.
I picked this place for a special date celebration and it’s been amazing decision! This restaurant is beautiful, very spacious and has a chill vibe - exactly what you need for a date night. We didn’t try Argentinian options but were very happy with lamb papardelle bolognese with lamb and house burger. The cocktails were really good too. Service was good and not annoying. Highly recommend this place and will come back for more Argentinian foods
I’d heard this was the place to try—and I’m so glad I did! We came here for brunch a few weeks ago and had a lovely time. The food was delicious, and the drinks were just as good. Can’t wait to come back for dinner sometime soon!
Had to tip the scales back here on Google maps review.. Morella is a new Italian-Argentinian spot and… it’s great! I can understand any new spot finding their groove but there weren’t any stress points for me. The ‘Morella’ namesake cocktail hit the spot. I went ahead and tried the Manhattan and fernet too for good measure - each was cleverly served and I wasn’t disappointed. I won’t bore you.. it’s a fun spot and the food/drinks are good. Relax, it’s pasta, meat, and sides with friendly service in a hip spot. Gnocchi was really good, octopus was really good, and of course the MEATS. Short ribs ✅ Argentinian steak ✅.. Or just check out the bar. Cheers 🍻
This was the former Dorian corner space and they did a phenomenal job renovating it so that now it’s vibey and spacious with lots of color. Second time having dinner here and they excelled at everything from the food to the service. Still dreaming about their pasta days later. Great for date nights, small groups, and instagram girlies (they have the cutest booths).
We brought our Argentinian Italian family here for dinner and thought it was delicious! Our ribeye steak was prepared to absolute perfection, juicy and crispy on the outside with amazing chimichurri sauce. The empanadas were spiced beautifully. The chicken Milanese was also very good and the pasta was perfectly cooked. Our server was Freddy and he was lovely! I do wish that the main entrées had the sides included. That would have just made it a great value. But overall, this place was excellent.

Morella is a gem in San Francisco! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the food is flavorful and beautifully presented, and the drinks are perfectly crafted. The service was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. A must-visit for anyone who loves great food and a top-notch dining experience!
A lively brunch spot with a wide range of brunch dishes but has a lot of lunch items. We got the prosciutto sandwich which was toasted and delicious. My friend got the purple pancakes which had a good touch of sweetness with the dulce de leche butter and syrup. Had a couple of their spritzes which were good as well. Would go back again.
We are remiss in writing this review. Our dinner was on June 19 2025 We got stuck at the airport car rental and arrived for our reservations about an hour late and just before closing. I worked in the restaurant business for several years and know how inconvenient a late arrival can be to a restaurant, especially when the restaurant is winding down. The manager greeted us warmly and we were sat immediately. Our server made some great drink and food recommendations and shared some interesting things to see and do in the city. A friend of hers who was having cocktails was nice enough to come to our table and also recommend some places to eat while in town. No pressure to hurry through dinner, despite the fact we were late we were there at least a half an hour past closing time. Thanks so much!
Sampled quite a bit of the menu, some pictured some not. The prosciutto sandwich and crab arancini were the favorites of the table. Ube pancakes were okay, there was no ube flavoring, just normal pancakes colored purple. Their drink menu has quite a selection and If you're a fan of boozy coffee drinks, they have 6 to try. I had the Carajillo and Caffetini they were both good but my fave was Carajillo was my favorite. Service was a bit slow but pretty good when they were at the table. There were few big parties and we were in the corner. So I'd say it's probably a one off. Drinks and food came out pretty quick from when we ordered. Overall, enjoyed our time. Would recommend and will go back
Loved this restaurant. The beef empanadas were amazing. Very tasty. We got two orders of them. The braised short ribs and the picahna streak were very good too. Highly recommend these dishes. For dessert we got Argentinian Alfajores cookies. I had much better cookies before these were a bit hard and not fresh.
Mixed experience. The octopus was fantastic, but the pasta was underwhelming. I’d skip the grilled goat cheese appetizer next time, and be aware that the salads are very small. Overall, nice experience but the server was not attentive.
We had such a great experience at Morella in San Francisco! From the moment we walked in, the space gave off a breezy, upscale resort vibe like a little escape tucked right into the city. Think modern coastal charm meets Mediterranean warmth, with sunlit interiors, relaxed music, and a chic-yet-inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you want to settle in and linger. We started with the beet salad and burrata both incredibly fresh and beautifully plated. The beets had a subtle earthiness that paired perfectly with the light citrus dressing, and the burrata was a dream: rich, creamy, and paired with juicy, ripe tomatoes, basil oil, and a touch of sea salt that made every bite sing. A perfect opener. For mains, the shrimp Alfredo pasta was a standout. The pasta was al dente, the sauce was silky and indulgent without being too heavy, and the shrimp were plump, juicy, and clearly high quality. It’s one of those dishes that feels familiar but elevated. We also had the rabbit braised in white wine a bold choice that absolutely paid off. It was tender, subtly herbed, and melt-in-your-mouth good. A dish that really sets Morella apart from more typical brunch/dinner spots. Let’s talk drinks don’t skip the mimosa. It’s not your average brunch cocktail; it was perfectly chilled, light on the sugar, and had just the right amount of citrusy brightness to balance everything out. Super refreshing. They also have an intriguing cocktail list that we’ll definitely be exploring next time. For dessert, we couldn’t resist the ube pancakes, and wow, what a fun surprise. Soft, fluffy, slightly sweet with that signature ube flavor, and topped with whipped cream and berries. It was part-dessert, part-art-piece, and totally Instagram-worthy. Service-wise, it was spot-on. The staff were warm, knowledgeable, and attentive without hovering. Each course arrived with perfect timing, and they made sure we felt taken care of from start to finish. Overall, Morella is a gem. Whether you’re out for brunch with friends, a cozy date night, or just want a little “vacation magic” without leaving the city, this place nails it. Beautiful space, thoughtful food, and a relaxed, elevated vibe. We’ll absolutely be back. Highly recommend.

Morella is very well appointed, the decor is colorful yet elegant, in sync with the Argentinian/Italian fusion cuisine. When we visited on a late Saturday morning, everyone was sipping cocktails, so Morella's reputation for being a go-to place for boozy brunches maps to reality. The food, however, was mediocre and... insufficient. The sausage combo (one sausage, two eggs any style, toast, side salad) included one small sausage, two eggs as advertised, a tiny piece of toast, and a somewhat wilted scoop of greens with vinaigrette. It was not enough for my husband to feel like he's finished with breakfast for the day. The hamburger was juicy and flavorful, which was offset by the side salad that was 3 days past its best-by shelf life. We had mocktails, and while they were tasty, the sugar in them could have been significantly less. Overall, the decor made up somewhat for the underwhelming drinks and food. If you go there for the booze, I think you won't be disappointed.
Cocktails- super cute; I had the Funky Flamingo, it was a little on the sweet side, but I enjoyed it! the Caesar salad was AMAZING, our favorite thing of the night. The Crab Sorrentinos was good and there was a generous amount of Crab. The short ribs were the most disappointing of the meal, they were incredibly dry. I was with a group of 8, the server was helpful and on top of things, the host was also wonderful and welcoming. The restaurant is cute and fun, the food was good, but not the I can’t wait to go back type of good.

It is NOT ARGENTINE !!!! This restaurant claims to be Argentine / Italian but at least is not Argentine . I will not go back so I can not tell if the Italian dishes are authentic. The empanadas were dry and served with some sauces that are not Argentine ( Argentine people don’t need to eat the empanadas with sauces as the empanadas are tasty and juicy ) .. ( I could say these were the worst empanadas I ever had, and I am Argentine ) . The sweetbreads were not crispy , probably first boiled and then briefly barbecued. The picanha steak was just ok and the creamed spinach was watery ( spinach floating in dark liquid) . The chorizos offered were weird : there are no duck chorizos in Argentina . The alfajores were not alfajores at all , not even close to what an alfajor is .. that was really disappointing . The service was good and they made a big investment in decoration . I would not go back or recommend .

The service is great, the ambiance is nice, and the food tastes good. I ordered the lamb bolognese; however, the portion was comically small and it cost $25 before tax, tip, and a 5.5% surcharge. Considering this was one of the cheaper entrees on the menu, all the food is quite overpriced. The drinks on the other hand were quite good and normal SF prices. I'm not someone who eats a lot of food, but the portion was so small that by the time I got home I was already hungry again. I'm glad we tried it, but unfortunately the value is just not close to being acceptable compared with other restaurants in SF and I don't plan on coming back, at least not for food.
I was really excited to try Morella, given all the hype, but sadly, it did not live up to expectations. Service: We sat for 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. We were just about to flag someone down when a waiter finally arrived, apologized for the delay, and offered us fries to make up for it. That seemed like a nice gesture—until we got the bill and realized they charged us $20 for the fries ($12 + $8 for truffle). Food: • Burger: Inedibly salty. My partner couldn’t even finish it. It’s been 20 min since we left and our stomachs are already hurting. • Caprese Salad: Extremely underwhelming. A couple of pieces of lettuce, 4 halved cherry tomatoes, and some small amount of barata cheese. Not what I expected for a caprese. • Bolognese Pasta: This was okay but definitely not worth the price. Atmosphere: The one redeeming quality is that the space is cute inside, but honestly, it wasn’t enough to salvage the experience. Overall, I left disappointed, frustrated, and feeling like I wasted both my time and money. I wanted to love Morella, but this was not it.

We came here to celebrate my niece’s 21st birthday and spent over $700 on dinner, only to be rudely kicked out over a supposed time limit that was never disclosed anywhere when we made the reservation or when we were seated. What made it even worse was how it was handled. Instead of speaking to the host of the party or the person who paid the bill, a staff member walked over to random guests at the end of the table and told them it was time for us to leave. It was awkward, unprofessional, and incredibly rude. Whoever thought that was an appropriate way to handle customers should not be working in hospitality. That is not customer service. If you’re going to enforce strict time limits, communicate that up front instead of embarrassing your customers in the middle of a birthday celebration. To top it off, the food was mediocre at best, which makes the $700 bill even harder to justify. Overall, terrible service and an experience that completely ruined what should have been a special night. We won’t be back.
Came here for Sunday brunch and honestly… girlies, watch your drinks. The bar area and bros just gave me the ick the entire time. The whole place feels like it’s trying very hard to look cute for Instagram, but the food is medicore and, the experience is meh at best. I ordered the ube pancakes, which should be purple, but these had zero color, so I’m not even sure how they’re calling them ube. Btw they tasted just as bland as they looked. This place just feels like a scam. Make it look good for photos, charge a lot, and hope nobody notices the food and overall experience are pretty gross. Will not be back.
I am extremely disappointed with the experience my party and I had during our recent dinner reservation. We made a reservation one month in advance for a party of ten, yet upon arrival, we were told that six members of our group would need to sit on one side of a booth, which was clearly uncomfortable and unreasonable for a reservation of this size. When we expressed concern, staff made it into an issue rather than offering a solution, despite the ample notice we provided. Additionally, one week prior to our reservation, I called specifically to ask about a cake cutting fee. I was told there was no cake cutting fee, only a storage fee, which we were fine with. However, once we arrived in person, we were told the opposite and still charged, despite the misinformation provided over the phone. This lack of consistency and accountability was frustrating and unprofessional. To make matters worse, toward the end of our dinner, we were rushed out and told we had overstayed our time, yet the table behind us—who arrived before we did—was allowed to stay significantly longer without issue. This felt unfair and targeted. Finally, after all of this, the staff could not even return our cake box, which added insult to injury after an already poor experience. Overall, this was meant to be a celebratory dinner, but instead it was overshadowed by poor communication, inconsistent policies, and unwelcoming service. I expected much better organization and hospitality, especially for a large reservation planned well in advance. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this establishment for group celebrations.
I only came here because my granddaughter wanted to try it, but I left pretty disappointed. The pasta was very underwhelming, especially for the price. Nothing about it stood out, and it certainly wasn’t memorable. The decor also felt cheap and a bit tacky, which didn’t match the prices on the menu. Overall, the experience just didn’t live up to expectations. With so many better restaurants around, this isn’t somewhere I would choose to go again.
