Opinions de Flores San Francisco
Delicious food. Not your typical Tex-Mex restaurant, Flores provides dishes and flavors from Mexico. Don't expect a steaming skillet of fajitas, a crispy taco shell filled with ground beef, or a chile relleno that's fried and filled with cheese. Instead, you'll enjoy lighter and more vibrant flavors. My chile relleno, stuffed with mushrooms and spinach, was amazing... but the guajillo sauce pooled around it was the real star of the plate. The sopes were very tasty. My wife enjoyed a salad with carnitas -- I'm not sure you'd commonly find a dish like that in Mexico, but it was refreshing and had flavors that were authentically Mexican.
Perfect date night spot! Pitchers of margs were a great deal. Loved the chicken mole. Vibes were amazing but the real star was our server Cinde!! She totally made our whole experience memorable & we will certainly be back because of her.
Loved the restaurant. Packed on a Monday night so make reservations. We got the chips, three tacos (carne asada, carnitas and grilled fish) and the posole. We also got a margarita flight. The tacos weren’t my favorite but I enjoyed the posole. We ate a the bar and enjoyed our night. Service was very speedy which worked out well.
I was here for birthday brunch and needless to say Flores was an amazing pick for the day. We ordered few appetizers including ceviche and chilaquiles with chicken tinga and it’s honestly something I could eat everyday. V flavorful and filling, makes you want to get some more! Their strawberry margarita was amazing too, v well balanced and not too sweet. Lived people watching and getting some sun in their outdoor seating.
Amazing spot for happy hour! Probably one of the few in the area that have happy hour until late on Sunday evening! Their tacos are juicy and delicious (the mushroom taco is amazing!) and the margaritas are bomb! Highly recommended also for a dinner or cocktail, plenty of space and cozy atmosphere.
Excellent experience at Flores. The service was outstanding — everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. We shared several dishes and everything impressed. The guacamole was exceptionally fresh, the ensalada verde with carnitas was bright and balanced with that lime-jalapeño dressing, and the queso fundido with handmade tortillas was incredible. The carnitas and chicken tinga were both perfectly seasoned and tender. Great food, great vibe — can’t wait to return and try other dishes on their menu.
Obsessed. The fried fish taco alone is worth the trip — crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. But what really made the experience unforgettable was the bar team: Jared and Ramon are absolute pros — welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. The tequila, mezcal, and sotol collection is remarkable — not just deep, but curated with care. Jared guided me to a new favorite I’d never tried before, and Ramon shook up one of the best mezcal margaritas I’ve had in the city. The space is lively but never too loud, with that breezy Union Street charm and a front patio perfect for people-watching. Can’t wait to go back — Flores has officially earned a spot on my regular rotation. 🌮✨
When we first walked in, I couldn’t help but wonder what we were doing there—there were definitely better-looking restaurants around. But my opinion changed instantly with the first sip. The cocktails were spot on. And the food? Packed with flavour and spices. Simple, delicious, and surprisingly affordable for this part of town.
We had such a great meal at @flores_sf ! The Mole Negro Poblano was packed with deep, rich flavors—the cacao-nut-chili sauce had just the right balance of sweetness and spice, and the braised chicken was tender. The Chicken Tinga had a nice smoky kick, and the pickled onions added a really nice contrast. The Parrillas came out sizzling, and the mix of grilled beef, chicken, and peppers was seriously good. Everything was cooked just right, and the tortillas tied it all together. The cocktails were just as solid. The Claricolada was smooth and refreshing, with coconut and pineapple giving it a tropical vibe. The Fresame Mucho had a nice, lightly smoky-meets-fruity thing going on and also a silky texture from the egg whites. On top of all that, the atmosphere was lively and a really good place to hang out and enjoy a meal. Would definitely come back!
Came here with a group of friends for dinner. The vibe was great, the food was delicious, and service was a bit on the slower side, but it was a Friday night. I personally had the mushroom tacos and the pozole. The tacos were excellent and had great texture! The pozole was yummy, although a bit heavy handed with the oregano. Ceviche was really good as well, not sure what other kind of citrus they throw in there but it’s definitely not just lime. Overall enjoyed my visit and would recommend!
Really great tasting food. I was really happy with the quality, and the service was also immaculate, the staff was kind and helpful, service was also quick. We tried a bunch of different foods, and all of them were great, but the standouts to me were the plantains and the empanadas. If I had to pick a dish to skip, then it would be the tacos, although they were still good. They also make a good margarita, went for the classic one and it was tasty. I will recommend this place to everyone, but be careful of your spending, the bill can get quite high quickly.
Celebrated my birthday here and it was really fun. I actually stumbled upon this place by chance. They easily accommodated us even though I didn’t have any reservations. Mason was our server and he was the best. His recommendations were really good! Everything came out perfect. The food, cocktails and dessert were really good. We enjoyed the appetizers especially the elote. The steak was cooked perfectly! Nice and tender. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Highly recommend this place. It won’t disappoint!
This restaurant is Michelin Guide–recommended. This time, I chose something different from what I usually order. Everything was very good, and the portions are big enough for two people. My choices were: Totopos and Enchiladas Rojas de Pollo. The place is spacious and very family-friendly, with many families dining with their kids.
Sat us quickly on a busy Saturday night without reservations. Service is very nice but slooooww. Food is quite good but again-- slow! Drinks were excellent and came quickly.
Such a fun place. Fell in love with the decor. The service was good but a bit slow at times. My family and I went for my mother’s birthday. We had some mimosas to start. I had the huevos rancheros, great presentation. Interestingly it had a chile relleno inside, which was good. My only feedback was I wish it had bit more seasoning. We had the chips and salsa and guacamole, really liked, super fresh and tasty. My wife had the green posole, she thought it was ok, that means keep working on the recipe. My mom had the steak and eggs and from what she said, “mijo it’s good.” It’s hard to please my mom with Mexican food since her standards are high. I say it was a successful, pleasant and well worth it experience.
This is a great place to go to if you have a large group. There is SO much space - from the parklet to the cute front bar to the back area with plenty of tables. The food was delicious. We ordered the salad (which was big and filling), mole, pozole and tacos. Everything was flavorful. The drinks were okay. Nothing too outstanding but decent.
Food was okay. The guacamole was one of the best we have had. The server did forget multiple things alongside having me hold our menus while getting us seated. (That typically wouldn't annoy me although each of my asks were the ones ignored). We also asked if we could split by two and he vocalized that being too much workb Also no
The atmosphere is beautiful and inviting, which is why I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the food didn’t match the setting. The camarones were extremely salty, and the tortillas were hard on the edges, barely edible. The quesadilla was average, though the enchiladas de pollo were good. The churros were dense and heavy instead of light and fluffy, though the dips were tasty. Overall, disappointing food, doesn’t reflect how nice the place looks.
Food was mediocre, service was terribly slow - this was my first and last visit. I would not come back again or recommend this for large groups looking for consistent service. Came with a reservation for ~15 for a birthday event with pre fixe dinner with a confirmed menu of 3 apps, 2 entrees and 1 dessert served family style. We were not ordering 30+ unique items on the spot but the sequencing and service was beyond slow during the 2.5 hour meal - apps took one hour to arrive, entrees another 30 minutes later, and dessert 1 hour afterwards. Guacamole and esquites were heavily salted and acidic; rice was dry; chips didn’t arrive until prompted two times; entrees didn’t come with serving utensils; everything came out in piecemeal so half our group would get food way before the other half without any additional communication that the rest of the party would have their own family style platters. Our large group was given two tiny bags of the pinwheel chips (maybe 5 pieces in each bag) - when we asked for more for our group of 15, they said “they ran out” — but upon leaving, there was a whole box right on the counter!! Last but not least when paying - we wanted to double check the bill and see an itemized copy since it was $800+ and asked to confirm that it included the large group service charge since the payment reader suggested additional tip options. The waitress did not know and asked if she should ask her manager, and we said yes. She then came back with the receipt and said that the bill did not include the group service charge and wanted to cancel our transaction to add the charge. When we actually compared the receipt with the total on the payment reader, it was accurate so it’s appalling that they were allegedly going to add another service charge on top of our existing bill.
⭐️ 1 star Food was mediocre and service was terribly slow—this was my first and last visit. I would not come back or recommend this restaurant, especially for large groups expecting organized and consistent service. We came with a reservation for ~15 people for a birthday and had arranged a pre-fixe dinner in advance (3 appetizers, 2 entrées, 1 dessert served family-style). This was all confirmed ahead of time, so it wasn’t like we were ordering 30+ different dishes on the spot. Despite that, the pacing and execution were shockingly bad over a 2.5-hour meal. Appetizers took nearly an hour to arrive, entrées came another 30 minutes later, and dessert showed up an entire hour after that. The food itself was disappointing: guacamole and esquites were overly salted and acidic, the rice was dry, and chips didn’t arrive until we asked twice. Entrées were brought out without serving utensils, and dishes arrived piecemeal—half the table would get food long before the other half, with no explanation that separate “family-style” platters were supposedly coming. For a group of 15, we were given two tiny bags of pinwheel chips (maybe 5 chips per bag total). When we asked for more, we were told they had “run out,” yet when we left, there was a full box of the same chips sitting on the counter. The billing experience was the final straw. With an $800+ bill, we asked to review an itemized receipt and confirm whether the large-party service charge was already included, since the payment reader prompted additional tip options. The server didn’t know and said she’d ask her manager. She returned saying the bill did not include the group service charge and attempted to cancel the transaction to add it. When we compared the receipt to the total on the payment reader, the amount was already correct—meaning they were potentially about to add an extra service charge on top of what we were already paying. Overall, disorganized service, mediocre food, and a very concerning checkout experience. Definitely not worth it.
