Opinions de Ly's San Francisco
Friendly service. Very tasty grilled five spice chicken. Try it with the garlic noodles or just with white rice. Wished they sell it as appetizer as well. The beef pho is good too.
Update: I appreciate the chicken pho uses great tasting quality chicken unlike some restaurants that I "feel" use bioengineered/fake chicken. I ordered phó ga for the first time here today for takeout and it was so good. It was reasonably priced and there was ample chicken, noodles and the soup was so good! It included bean sprouts, lemon, hoisin sauce. It definitely will be my goto for Vietnamese in the neighborhood.
The vegetarian pho is delicious. I came with a friend and was not expecting much since often the vegan version of pho can be bland. But the pho was great with really flavorful vegan broth and plenty of noodles and veggies. This is definitely my new favorite spot!
Best Vietnamese spot in the neighborhood. Their five spice chicken is to die for. Garlic noodles are amazing, all the pho is fresh and delicious. Honestly everything on the menu is awesome. We order takeout from here every few weeks. No need to try anywhere else when you have a go-to spot that is this consistently good :)
I crave their food, so good. The people who work there are the sweetest! Bonus the restaurant is very clean and hygienic.
Delicious food and great service. I stopped in with my fiance to grab a quick bite for lunch. I was impressed with the freshness of the food as well as the quality for the price. I hope to visit again next time I'm in San Francisco!
Foods delicious and staff is awesome, very polite. And pricing is good for being in Frisco. Definitely recommend
Our go to place for inexpensive lunches. Very good personnel, fast service, wide variety of food and drinks including beer, wine and some specific beverages. Pho is usually great. They have a few TVs.
We just had dinner at Ly's. Service was fabulous and quick! My mom and I had Pho soup and it was delicious. We tried but we couldn't eat it all. My husband had garlic noodles and chicken. He was in heaven! He absolutely loved it! We also had 2 orders of the shrimp spring rolls which were excellent! What a treat and the price was right! If you like Vietnamese cuisine, give it a try.
Ly's is a quiet spot to grab a bite of good food. We like the garlic noodles and the green papaya salad. The staff is always polite and the service is good. We go there a few times a month as it is in my neighborhood. It is located at a convention location on Lombard Street.
Loved the fresh spring rolls in rice paper with the beef (the beef is grilled and tastes amazing). The Pho soup is pretty good and super fresh, the other dishes are rather small if you're very hungry 😉 except for the Tofu that was deep fried and was a bit mushy in the soup everything was great and super yummy.
Very consistent and solid bowl of pho here. The broth is not overly sweet, and the spicier broth variants like the satay pack a punch. Prices are not bad either. If this place was located closer to where I live, I'd probably come here on a weekly basis.
Best vegetarian pho in the city
These guys have amazing beef broth pho and really good vermicelli plates with fresh herbs. Haven’t tried much else, but this is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in SF. The Fried imperial rolls are also super good
Filet mignon shaken beef rice was SO good, both the beef and the rice were delicious and tender, and I would get this same dish next time. My friend got the crab paste noodle soup and that was also delicious.
Went twice during my stay in San Francisco. Simply the best Vietnamese food I've had in a long time. Great family business that really takes care of their customers. Thank you.
Wonderful Phô soup and kind pleasant service. I recommend them highly. THIS will be our new traditional restaurant to visit when in town. We live in Roseville, CA. Last Friday, we took visiting family friends to San Francisco for sightseeing. We found this place on Yelp and went to try. Our party of 5 people also comes with a service dog (gorgeous, purebred Golden Retriever). 6 months ago, we had a very bad experience with Golden Flower in Chinatown and were now very wary of anti-service dog sentiments. However, at Ly’s we experienced absolutely no ill sentiments or detrimental effects of our service dog that stayed under the table quietly the entire time. The service was fast. The establishment is simple, clean, and suited for families. The rare beef phô I ordered was delicious and the standard large portion. The accompanying bean sprouts and Thai basil were very fresh. We are all foodies, and my wife (who wasn't too thrilled in the past with other phô except a friend's homemade one from years back) COULD NOT STOP RAVING about her tiger shrimp phô. My 13-yr old son also had the rare beef phô and almost finished it. AMAZING! The server was very accommodating and kind. We took our leftovers with us and promised ourselves we would be back again many times. The last few days my wife (a thin petite person) has continued to rave about this place saying that she wakes up in the morning with thoughts of this phô on her mind.
Absolutely love this place. Everything is delicious and fresh. Cozy spot :) we keep coming back all the time
great spot for a classic pho. for vegetarians, the veggie pho is a great option.
Absolutely stellar experience at Ly's Vietnamese Cuisine! I visited with two friends after a trusted recommendation from another very good friend, and it exceeded all expectations. The food was simply incredible - each dish bursting with authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. The service was equally outstanding; attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The ambiance of the restaurant added to the whole experience, with a cozy and vibrant feel that made us all feel right at home. Ly's Vietnamese Cuisine is now our go-to spot for a fantastic meal. Highly recommended!
I think we've found our new favorite Pho spot! My only gripe was that there was no tripe or tendon, but my wife got the garlic noodles and they were also delicious, as were the imperial rolls we got as an appetizer.
I had Chicken Pho and it was a great choice! Big portion and amazing taste, definitely worth the price.
Like other reviews the food and service is great. I had papaya salad and shrimp pho. Both excellent when compared to the dishes in Saigon. The vibe is cute and clean. As a neighbor I'll definitely have this top of mind when hankering for Vietnamese food!
Staff was very friendly and attentive. The shrimp in my salad rolls were fresh and plentiful. Very tasty. My phó came nice and hot, and was huge. The broth was very flavorful. Menu prices were extremely fare. I would recommend Ly's to anyone looking for a nice Vietnamese meal.
I love LYs!!! It is classic comfort pho like you are in your grandmothers kitchen. I usually go pho ga but this time went with beef and was so surprised at how flavorful it was. Definitely a great price for portion size here too.
I don't write reviews often, but I literally have to for this place. If you're an sf local, you would 1) know about this place, and 2) come here. It's incredible food, a super comfy atmosphere, and the nicest staff- probably in all of San Francisco. If you're in the mood for a super casual date, or a relaxing/quick dinner, go check it out. The best pho I've had in SF by FAR
Very good pho. My friend and I found this restaurant by accident by walking by and decided to try it. Server was friendly and smiley. We ordered shrimp Pgi and vegetarian pho, both were tasty and comforting. Interior of the restaurant is simple but clean. Prices are reasonable. I would recommend this restaurant.
Ly's Vietnamese Cuisine in San Francisco is a true gem that exceeded all expectations. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who went above and beyond to ensure every need was met, from recommending dishes to promptly refilling our drinks. Now, let's talk about the menu - absolutely divine! The 5 spice chicken was a flavor explosion, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The beef satay pho was a comforting bowl of goodness, with tender beef slices and aromatic broth that warmed the soul. And the potstickers were crispy on the outside, yet bursting with savory filling on the inside, leaving us craving for more. As for the ambiance, it was simply enchanting. The cozy yet elegant décor created a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. Soft lighting and tasteful decorations added to the charm of the restaurant, making it the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. Overall, Ly's Vietnamese Cuisine is a must-visit for anyone craving exceptional Vietnamese food served with unparalleled service and in a delightful ambiance. It's no wonder this restaurant has become a beloved favorite among locals and visitors alike. Five stars all around! Also, very pretty girl there, like super duper pretty
This is the best Pho of my life. This is our go to spot foreverrrr. We come here at least once per month to get our pho fix. We’ve tried tons of other pho restaurants but none can even compare. The beef satay pho is epic. My boyfriend likes the regular beef pho w/ rare brisket.
Delicious, inconspicuous Vietnamese spot along the 101. Busy and friendly mid-day; people like it here. Beef Satay Pho gets an A+ for flavor and spice. Homemade salted plum soda was unique, refreshing, and hydrating. They had a lot of unique drinks like this. I'd say overall this was the place I didn't know I was looking for on my walk through the city. 10/10
Ly's Vietnamese Cuisine is a total win! The service is top-notch, and the food is absolutely delicious. The 5 spice chicken, beef satay pho, and potstickers are must-tries. The ambiance is classy yet cozy, making it a great spot for a night out with friends or a casual date. Can't wait to go back and try more dishes!
Had a fantastic experience at Ly's Vietnamese Cuisine! The service was outstanding, with friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was perfect for a relaxing meal out. Can't wait to visit again!
I go here a lot to pick up takeout lunch on my break. They're very quick and the quality is good! My go to dishes are the five spice chicken rice plate, or any combination with the garlic noodles. I also enjoy a salted plum soda. I didn't care for the shrimp rolls as much in this particular location, but that's just me.
Loved it-- locals are lucky! Had spring rolls with plum sauce and vegetarian pho. Everything was fresh and tasty. Fantastic! Sorry I don't live here or I'd be here a lot. ❤️
My boyfriend and I got the beef rice plate and the spring rolls to share. The portions were big and there was plenty for 2 people for lunch. They had a lot of great drinks and the pho looked great as well. Would definitely recommend to stop if you're nearby!
My favorite place for Pho in SF! Also try the Broccoli in Oyster Sauce.
The beef satay pho will change your life. I’ve ordered pho tai all over the country. Chicago, LA, New Orleans and a dozen other spots. This is the best place. Just spicy enough and just the right amount of savory. Just had it after 3 years of being away from SF and it lives up to my memories of it. The staff is excellent and friendly too. Please, if you love pho, this is it my friend.
Crowded on a Sunday at 8pm is always a good sign - no wait though. Excellent pho (we had the chicken and the five spice chicken) and quick service with a nice and chill atmosphere. Definitely coming back
The grilled beef was amazing, the garlic noodles had the perfect amount of garlic and wasn’t too overpowering. The peanut sauce with the shrimp rolls were okay, they lacked a little flavor. Overall would definitely come again.
First time in this place and the staff was super friendly, they took the time to explain the menu in detail. Food was delicious with reasonable prices. You will need to park on the street so parking is limited. I’ll definitely recommend this place for a good and reasonable Vietnamese food.
It's nearly impossible to find a place that offers vegetarian pho (most will leave the meat out, but still use beef broth). Ly's had "the best pho of my life" according to my vegetarian teenager. My other three kids and husband all loved the 5 Spice Chicken and beef pho.it was loud inside, but the tasty food and friendly service are worth it.
The beef pho was full of flavor! Amazing food with generous portions!
The food exceeded all expectations. The price to value ratio was off the charts…However, what I found most interesting was the demographics of the dining room. The Marina is famous for being a ‘Fratlandia’ and with 95% of the customers here appearing to be early 20 somethings….Pretty sure the price point here makes this one of most affordable restaurants in the area. Food didn’t feel cheap and I was pleasantly surprised with what we got! Cheers and ty for having us.
One of the best pho ga I’ve ever had. Fresh chicken with skin ion to add to your broth! 10/10
Good service good drinks good pho good spring rolls Wish there was more meat
Don't sleep on going to Ly's, this SF local staple deserves every single star they've earned. And is the sleeper pick for the best boba in San Francisco. 🧋 Come as you are (I write this as I'm eating alone in my sweats & uggs) or deliver to home for those sick or cozy days. The pho is best meal you can get in this city for less than $15. And the best part is, one order is enough food for two hungry people! Total bargain in my book. It's a casual, no frills restaurant, and even if I'm a posh princess most of the time, it is perfect just the way it is. I've never been here on a date (not saying I wouldn't, would just need to be a special date 😉) but I've been to and ordered from Ly's too many times to count. The marina wouldn't be the same without them. Long live Ly's!!! My go-to order: chicken pho & milk tea w/ boba
While walking around Lombard street, we came across Ly’s Vietnamese restaurant. We tried their Beef and Chicken Pho each along with spring rolls. Truly delicious! Very friendly, humble and courteous staff. Great find. We will surely visit again.
Best pho I had in SF
Just stopped by for lunch on Labor's Day. Very delicious Crab Paste Noodle Soup and Five Chicken plate with rice. The service was quick and friendly. The restaurant is simply and nicely decorated. If you enjoy Vietnamese cuisine, recommend Ly's.
Very good place to eat when you in San Francisco will always come back good food good service very friendly

Best pho I had in SF
I love that Ly's is not very far from my work. They are always friendly and always yummy. Usually get their grilled pork over rice or garlic noodles (of course with a fried egg on top). It hits the spot and is comfort food for me. I love that it's never empty but never too crowded.
Visiting from Australia, I was craving for some pho. Came about this place whilst on the bus and decided to try it. The pho was tasty and the rice paper rolls were fresh and delicious. Definitely would recommend any Viet foodies to come and try.
Grabbed Pho to go after a LONG travel day to San Fran, and happened to be staying at the motel next door to Ly’s. The service was SO quick and friendly, our order was ready in less than 10 minutes. The soup was so comforting and flavorful, it had the right amount of seasoning and spice, and the shaved beef was perfectly tender. One of the best Pho’s I’ve ever had.
Loved the food so much I had to take my coworkers here. They agreed that the food is excellent. We likes their Pho and Shaken Beef rice plates. The restaurant it's was nothing special but they did have multiple tvs with different things to on each so I could watch Pokemon while waiting for my food. 👍
The pho is so yummy and they give you a huge portion. The staff are attentive and kind. Great spot in the Marina area.

Had the beef pho with rare beef and beef balls. Soup was flavourful, decent portion size. Nothing mind-blowing but a solid spot if you’re craving pho/Vietnamese food.
Like the city it lives in, it's cramped and colorful. The food is pretty delicious! I had a five spice chicken dish that was awesome, would totally recommend but as a take out ^^
The pho was warm and filling here. I ordered the Chicken Pho and it was well-prepared and the broth was refreshing and balanced (though they did kind of skimp on the amount of meat they serve you). The Shrimp Fresh Spring Rolls were also pretty amazing and served with a tasty peanut sauce. I highly recommend.
Surprisingly good for a whole in the wall pho joint in the Marina. Came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch around 1:00pm. Had no trouble grabbing a table for two and got super speedy service. I had the Crab Paste Noodle Soup - sliced of ham and pork balls with noodles, eggs, shrimp paste, crab paste, etc. It was enjoyable, though the broth was not as flavorful as I expected. I definitely added some chili and jalapeño to it, and while I got general fish flavor, I didn't get much that particularly said "crab". There was a lot of stuff though, between noodles, meat, and tomatoes, which I appreciated it. $9 for the soup, plus $4 for a Thai iced tea. Not bad, considering the amount of food, though $4 for the tea is truly a rip off. I'd come back though, perfect for a cold day or sniffles!
Chicken pho is tasty; 5spice chicken vermicelli is good too, chicken is a bit dry (oven cooked then fried). Clean and tidy restaurant. Fair price/good value.
Nice little spot in the marina to get Vietnamese food. Came in on a Sunday night and it was a full house. The phone was ringing non-stop for take out food too. I counted 8 orders waiting for delivery and a few people waiting for their carry out orders. Simple menu and really reasonable prices
Quick, clean, and delicious! I don't come to this side of town much but I needed a quick and filling lunch and Ly's hit the spot with their rare beef pho. Staff was friendly and definitely a clean location. It's hard to find a place where their rare beef isn't super tough and honestly Ly's had one of the most tender beef slices I've gotten at any place in the city so I 100% appreciate that. I'd like to come back to try their other dishes!
I didn’t actually eat food from Ly’s, but I have to say that they were extremely kind and helpful to me. I went into Ly’s with a take out bag from another restaurant and offered to pay for eating utensils, but they were nice enough to give them to me free of charge and wished me well without any attitude. The food I had was from La Canasta, which wasn’t that great and to make it worse, I wasn’t given utensils to eat with. I wish I would have gotten my dinner from Ly's instead. They're not open for indoor dining yet, but by the looks of the many take out bags waiting for pick up, my guess would be that the food is excellent. Wonderful people.
I ordered Beef Pho with two meats. The dish was very tasty, but I had to mark it down one star because I felt like they were skimpy on the amount of meat in my bowl. My sister ordered just one meat and it was more than the supposed two meats in my bowl. Service was friendly, and the restaurant was clean.
November 2023: Stopped for lunch and ordered the chicken pho. Also ordered a green bean vegetable dish. Everything tasted good. The chicken pho had bits of fried garlic in the dish. Lots of noodles. Chicken breast shreds didn't have much flavor. Green bean dish was on the small side. Guess green beans are expensive. Overall, would stop by again but would try something different next time.
Good Pho! And a nice quiet place - a welcome change from the noisy, crowded & overpriced places lining up Chestnut street!! I just had my fix of delicious chicken pho & Thai iced tea for brunch, and must’ve spent an hour enjoying it! The staff was very friendly & didn’t really bother me despite me eating really really slowly & enjoying my meal today! They have some good veggie pho as well - my favorite is still PPQ in Inner Sunset, but this just might be the best in the Marina. Give it a try, you might just add it to your regular spots!!

spring roll & veggie pho are just ok, have had way better ones; but my mom really liked the crab paste one!
It was good, but not great. The broth just lacked the depth of flavor I'm accustomed to with good Pho. The five-spice chicken was delicious, and the seasoning certainly "boosted" the broth. I'd go here again if I were in the neighborhood, but I much prefer Golden Star across from Portsmouth Square Plaza.
The broth in the Beef Pho combo was very sweet, but otherwise lacked flavor. The Beef Satay Pho was spicy and tasted like cucumbers more than anything else. Imperial rolls were nothing special. Service was good even when the restaurant was full.
They dont offer the classic Dac Biet which surprised me. You cant even order tendon and tripe. Additionally i didnt get any basil or sliced onion. That being said the broth was fine. The shrimp rolls had too mich vermicelli in and the peanut sauce was very watery. Maybe I caught them when they were running low on ingredients. The restaurant is clean and they were playing Mariah Carey in the background. For the price though I was expecting a better meal.
Pho was okay. The broth lacked a little flavour. Garlic noodles were very light on the garlic flavour. Five spice chicken was good and juicy. For the price, its a decent meal.
We ate here recently, but the restaurant did not live up to its reviews. The seasoning was lacking. I ordered the Bun Rieu and my husband ordered the Beef Pho. Come to learn they don’t even speak Vietnamese. Not sure why the ratings are so high. With so many options in San Francisco, I think we could have done better elsewhere.
The staff wiped the table with a smelly rag which left a greasy film on the table. Then the chicken wings came out frozen in the middle. Pho broth was lacking flavor and depth as well.
Decent food. Modest atmosphere, nothing fancy. Friendly but hands off service. Liked the chicken coconut curry soup. Good prices.

Not authentic Vietnamese and doesn't look run by Vietnamese. No sign of lemongrass on the menu and they forgot multiple items when ordered. Place itself is clean and relaxed. Their fish sauce wings were good, but can't say anything positive about their meat dishes or pho
Cutting corners or perhaps Ly’s don’t think the customers know the difference between Vietnamese Imperial (fried) rolls vs Chinese egg rolls. Pictured hereis NOT Vietnamese style — they don’t use rice paper, this is flour. Also overpriced for couple rolls $8.99(?). Saiwalks and other Vietnamese restaurants use rice paper to fry the rolls. I recommend skipping it all together.
I never review anything but hate shady things. Got chicken pho takeout here the other day which came out to $13.04 and I left no tip since... it was takeout. Got charged on my credit card statement for $15.50. Just keep an eye on your credit card statement if you get takeout. Annoying because the pho was actually pretty good
I always show understanding to service providers but the quality of service I got or didn't get here is appalling, to say the least. I don't put racial coloration to anything but I don't know how else to describe my experience here. I was tossed the menu and waited for 15 minutes with no attention from anyone. A white and Asian couple came in afterwards and were instantly attended to with hot tea, salad and their order taken. Not that I wasn't noticed, I was just ignored, and to see another patron so well attended to left a bitter taste in my mouth! I left and went to have my lunch in a more respectful place!
I have traveled all over Vietnam and am a fan of Vietnamese cuisine. This restaurant has nothing in common with Vietnamese cuisine in terms of the taste of its soups. This is chicken or beef noodles, but not the original phobo. Sorry I can't give more than 1 star for this. If you like the original cuisine of Vietnam. Avoid this place.
