A long-time neighborhood gem, Grandeho's is one of those rare places where the food, personal service and ambiance all stand out... Nothing fancy, but the quality of the food always brings us back. Featuring a variety of Asian food such as fresh sushi, seafood, noodles, etc. The owner is a local resident and it's obvious this restaurant is a part of her family, and the hospitality always shines through. Prices are a little on the high side, but the quality of the food is worth it.
In this unassuming building lies a really special experience. The sushi chef has 15 years of quality experience. Emphasis on quality, having worked with some of the great sushi chefs in Japan. Our server was so kind and welcoming - she made us immediately feel comfortable after being relatively disoriented flying in from the midwest (and recovering from adult beverages the nights prior on the two additional times we came back). The chef shows care, expertise and knows how to purchase fish in our discussions. All the qualities you want in your sushi chef. The unexpected here were the vegetarian options for sushi rolls and the sushi rice itself is so perfectly done everything there is worth trying. The most notable vegetarian option was the kampyo - prepared from squash skin. It had so much sea and umami flavors on my palate I actually told my vegetarian girlfriend to stop eating it immediately, it must be a type of fish I hadn't tried before. Of course, it was not a mistake on their end. On one occasion, we went back and they recognized us with a warm welcome; offering our favorite saki and a decently sized free appetizer. Which we didn't expect but did very much so appreciate. This was one of the first restaurants we went to. With others including up to 3 Michelin stars, but we chose to come back here for our final meal before leaving town - that should say something. This is the kind of place that teaches you how to appreciate sushi, ruins other favorites in your hometown and at the same time you're thankful to have had the experience and memory.
If you want sushi this is the place to go. There are other sushi places nearby, but this one is byfar so much better. The quality, the taste. The employees are beyond nice & make you feel so welcome whether you dine in or order togo. I've tried so many different items here over the last month & have not had one bad item. My favorite is their bento boxes. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed!
January 2024: Stopped by for dinner to celebrate a birthday 🎉🎂. We started with the sashimi deluxe platter. Twenty five pieces of thick sliced fish: butterfish, hamachi, salmon with roe, tuna and albacore. Was a very nice dish. The salmon and roe was paired with a slice of lemon 🍋. Was very tasty 😋. We tried a few sushi rolls: Kamekyos special roll, rainbow 🌈 roll. They gave us a nice fruit plate for dessert. Appreciate the hospitality. I'd definitely come back again for more delicious sushi!
Some of the nicest people i’ve ever met, and the food was fantastic. The sushi chef gave me an extra nigiri on the house. The lady running the dining area gave me a miso soup on the house. And I was only there a mere 5 minutes to pickup takeout. These are the types of businesses that should be praised and highlighted in the community. Next time i’m in town, i will absolutely come back!
The food was really good! I took a tonkatsu ramen and the broth was really mastered, the meat tasty. Gyozas were crusty and I highly recommend the house special dessert: a green tea tempura, that is a fried ice cream with panko crumps. Price is not cheap but fair for the quality.
Wonderful restaurant. It was a quick decision as our previous option was closed and we had already paid for parking. The best mistake possible, because the food was excellent, the service friendly, and the atmosphere wonderful. I went with my dad and he got a 2 option bento box and I got a 3 option. Came with rice, salad, and miso soup, and our options. My father got the blue mackerel and tonkatsu, and I got tonkatsu, beef teriyaki, and vegetable egg rolls. Came with steamed carrots and zucchini, and my egg rolls came with a sweet chili sauce. Everything was delicious and would definitely come back next time we are here.
The food is better and fresher than the menu photos appear. Theyre making plum sauce and kimchi from scratch for elements for the dishes. Theyre food is thoughtfully prepared and tastes great.
We wanted sushi on a whim and this was the closest to our hotel, I’m so glad we did! I got the Lion King roll which was delicious. Other party members got the bento box with mackerel, pork katsu, and curry; all of which were great as well. We also tried their boba drinks which were tasty. Service was very good, our waitress was sweet.
Absolutely incredible. Ordered the Chicken bento box with California roll and sashimi. It came with a super tastey miso, absolutely lush salad, aubergine side (I need the recipe for this), extra rice and salted edamame beans with the beer. Some of the freshest sushi I've had, love the fact you can design your bento and the service was delightful. 10/10 would sushi again.
This restaurant is a gem! From the fresh ingredients to the extremely attentive service, you will not be disappointed with this place! A family run business for 25+ years, serving some unique rolls. Ask for the fresh wasabi…you will be happy you did! We loved everything we ate. The swamp roll provided a nice contrast of a spicy tuna roll with seaweed salad. Check out the video of the rainbow roll. Would highly recommend! We will be back next time we are in town.
Great little place we did pickup today. My wife got gyoza and egg rolls, I gotBul go gi jab chase, and the nice woman running the place sent some kimchi home with me too. Great little spot, great food, great host.
Visiting San Fran from Manitoba with a group. We walked in and were seated right away. They have an incredible variety of food options. From ramen bowls, to bento boxes with chicken and salmon teriyaki and fresh salads to different sushi rolls. And even bubble tea. We ordered all the mentioned foods and were floored. Truly some of the best Japanese food we’ve ever had. And the wonderful ladies serving us were so kind and attentive. We would definitely visit again.
Whenever I want to eat Korean food, 🍱 I go to Grandeho. The owner is very friendly as well as all the staffs who work there. She is a great Korean food cook. They have good lunch special menus as well as sushi rolls. The location is right near by Fisherman’s Wharf. 👍🏻🍚👍🏻👏🏻💯
Wow, what a wonderful experience! So peaceful and welcoming. Food was delicious, portions were perfect. Honestly, our best meal in SF this trip.
I used to come here for the fresh, high quality food and service on my lunch breaks from where I worked right next door. Returning on my birthday 2018 and 2025, each time offering the same great food, service and atmosphere. You're made to feel like family in the entirety of all aspects of the experience. 2025 I got the Bento Box. Extremely fresh. I'm a big fan of variety so this absolutely hit the spot. I was so glad to see it open after all that's happened between 2018 and today 2025. - Richard and Robbie
Oh my! What a jewel box of a restaurant! We adored eating at this restaurant. It is tucked into the side of the hill in a residential area and while it is a bit tiny on the inside it is huge in flavor. My teenagers said it gave them the warm feeling from having food made by their grandmother. I believe we were honored to have one of the owners as our server which made all of us feel quite special, since she was absolutely lovely. The fish in our sushi was extremely fresh and tasty. The side salads with entrees were beautiful to look at and eat—freshly sliced thin bits of crispy apple and small chunks of sweet fresh mango with a light tangy mayo/citrus dressing. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for fabulous Asian food at reasonable prices in a cozy, unique setting!
Excellent food. The Hawaiian poke salad was refreshing with surprises of watermelon, strawberries and finely sliced apple. The vegetable pancake was very tasty, crispy and light. Their spider maki was excellent as well. Everything we ordered was lovely. Also their veggies tiny dishes were so good.
Walking distance from our resort, we decided to order to go, Very clean and friendly lady greeted us, we placed our order. Didn’t wait long. Our order was packed neatly with all the sides we needed. I forgot to take a picture of the plate before my husband started eating, it was very delicious and fresh. Definitely recommend if your looking for sushi Teriyaki place. This is a good spot.
Fresh food, tasted really good! Friendly staff! I loved the atmosphere in this little restaurant. We recommend this :)
Delicious sushi and honestly best tasting I've ever had. The dragon and bay roll has such great flavor and the classic rock n roll and spicy tuna also delicious.
The lady there was super nice, and my kids got to try out a bunch of food. We tried the bento, and katsu, and ramen. They were all good. Location is close to the beach, but even at lunch time it was a relaxing spot.

I had a 3 item bento box togo with salmon, beef and shrimp tempura. Oh my! The teriyaki beef was so so good! The portion is pretty big.

Loved this neighbourhood restaurant but this is not a place I would get sushi again. The sushi chef was not trained. The sushi was not rolled or presented correctly. The fish was ok but really not acceptable. I’d worry that the care and treatment of the raw fish was also not careful or correct. The vibe is awesome and I love the regulars but I’d stick to soups etc.
Lovely restaurant with classical decorations. food presentation was beautiful . Liked the beef. The salmon was dry, overcooked and tasteless. My girl is a salmon lover but she didn’t like the salmon at all.
Overall my experience was good, however the price is quite steep and I have a few things I would have preferred to be a bit better. The location is probably the reason for the price, but overall the shrimp tempura had a bit too thick of a batter. The tempura dipping sauce was okay, but the rice in the rolls was a bit much. They didn’t fill the rolls as much as other places and just compensated with more rice to make the rolls seem bigger maybe. The fish was good and overall I would come back

Beautiful sushi restaurant just a few blocks from Fisherman's Wharf. Really cute place, great service and great food. Very convenient if you are renting bikes or if you go around the area.
Food was lovely and a nice change from the heavy meals we have been having. I didn't like that they automatically charged an 18% service charge then charged the tax on top of that so we paid tax on our forced tip....??? That left a bad taste in my mouth.
If you don't look at the location, it is just like another Korean owned Korean /Japanese restaurant in the suburbs anywhere in the country, mediocre flavors and presentations with SF prices. But unfortunately there's really nothing better around the Wharf, so if you have to have a Japanese/ Korean fix and don't feel like driving 15 - 20 mins to Japanese town or Korean town, this is probably your best bet. The only thing I enjoyed was the Katsu don, but it was nothing special.

We went there on Saturday around 3 pm. Service was ok. We ordered several rolls. There was a parasite on the Yellow Tail Tuna. We took several pictures. We did not say anything to them and we left after paying. My daughter’s husband is a Sushi Chef and he confirmed it was a parasite. Parasites in fish can make humans really sick. It is unacceptable !!!!
