Beautiful attention to details and cooking technique. Loved the ambiance. As former Tempura Chef who trained under a Kyoto Kaisen Chef, this is best tempura I’ve had in the East Bay so far. Also the best sushi in Alameda so far.
My girlfriend and I came to celebrate her birthday and Ariel & Serena were amazing hosts, very attentive and knowledgeable!! The food was delicious and plated masterfully like art pieces. Will definitely be coming here again! Thank you!!
We had late Sunday night dinner during last call. The staff was helpful with questions in the menu and the whole experience didn't disappoint. Every dish was delicate, well prepared, and wonderfully fragrant, bite after bite. What a delight to find such find Japanese restaurant in Alameda. Highly recommended and we'll definitely be back!
I think I found my favorite Japanese restaurant in Alameda! I came here for lunch on a Wednesday noon since I saw that they were the new restaurant on the block on Webster St. I saw online that they had lunch specials and thought I’d give it a try. I got the Mini sake don + tonkatsu which came with a miso soup. The soup was good as usual but they put shiitake mushrooms in it which was a nice and flavorful surprise! The lunch kit tasted very fresh and high quality with lots of garnishes. The service was excellent and my genmaicha tea cup was never empty and was always refilled without asking. At the end of the meal they gave a non-alcoholic lychee dessert drink which was perfect to end my lunch meal. I’ll be coming back and bringing friends to try the rest of the menu and their high quality sushi/fish!
What a great place! Modern and well decorated Japanese restaurant. Young chef and waitress. Excellent service and perfect food. The choice of music was classic jazz and just the right amount to leave room for talking. I had a combination sushi plate and the fish was succulent. The California rolls were filled with real crab. The miso soup was very delicate and had mushrooms and chive inside. The presentation is superb. My wife had a beef teriyaki plate and her meat was delicious and perfectly cooked to her choice. All was a pleasure for the senses and we will return as many times as we can. Totally loved it. Went again and tried different dishes like oysters, fish carpaccio and salmon teriyaki. Same quality food atmosphere and service. Loved it
The food in this restaurant is delicious and so fresh, everything we have was awesome. The oysters are magnificent. Is one of my local favorites for sushi. The services and the staff are superb.
We planned to have a quick lunch to make up for a bad meal elsewhere a couple nights ago. It wasn’t quick. Best laid plans, you know. Everything was fresh and delicious. We splurged a bit and left with a bunch of leftovers. My main was the sushi and sashimi combo. It included miso soup and salad, and everything was great. Perfect temperature and generous slices. My partner ordered a soft-shell crab roll (a.k.a. Spider roll) and a shrimp tempura roll. I also ordered a pair of unagi nigiri. This was the first time in a long while that they arrived warm. They simply melted in one’s mouth. Biggest surprise on the menu? In a section titled “Japanese Tapas”, there was a list for lamb chops. I had to get it. They were as good any lollipops I’ve ever had. Perfectly seasoned and grilled. If you like lamb, get them.
Went there for the grand opening tonight. So naturally have to try a variety of stuff. Waki did not disappoint. The sashimi was fresh and thick; Hamachi Kama was meaty and served with a nice ponzu sauce; Chawanmushi (Steamed egg custard) was smooth and silky with scallop, shrimp and mushroom inside. I did not like Uni (sea urchin). I tried once many years ago and it tasted like a pouch of sea water. Glad I decided to give it another go at Waki. The Hokkaido sea urchin was mild and had the texture of a smooth foie gras. I quite liked it. Uni is now back on my list. Thanks, Waki. We also had 2 of the special rolls (Dragon and Lion King), both are delicious. The deep fried soft shell crab was meaty and fried to perfection. We were so full that we practically had to roll ourselves out the door. Definitely will be back. I am already thinking what I should try next time!! Lastly, a shoutout to our server Joey for the incredible service.
Great service, delicious food. They were even nice enough to give us a free dessert for my birthday. Great option for a nice dinner out
Came in for dinner on opening day and definitely will be back! Fish was high quality, service was great and friendly, and all of the dishes were done well. A few of our favorites: - Miso soup w/ mushrooms: flavorful and good way to start the meal! - Uni sea urchin: definitely give it a shot! Hokkaido sea urchin makes such a big difference in the flavor. - Hamachi Kama: will 100% order again! Flakey meat and good flavor. - Soft Shell Crab: delicious with ponzu and nice fried crunch! - Lion King roll: so good! Baked salmon had great flavor, imitation crab was delicious and soft, and the roe on top was fresh. - Sashimi: toro, salmon, hamachi, and more were all thick slices and good fish! - Steamed Egg Custard: my first time trying it but Waki did it well! Extremely smooth and filled with mushrooms, scallops, and shrimp. - Green tea ice cream + ice cream mochi were good too! Sooooo full but stomachs are happy!
Really tasty meal and great service. The fish was super fresh and tasty. The handrolls were an incredible value - so much fish! Red dragon roll and hamachi carpaccio were both delicious.
Insanely tasty. The staff was really helpful and great, the best sushi I had had in my life. The nigiri was incredibly fresh, the Brotherhood roll was my favorite roll we tried.
The quality of the sushi is outstanding, on par with some of the best sushi places in San Francisco! I l love that you can order really uniques types of fish coming directly from Tokyo and even fresh real wasabi (not as easy to come across). My favorites have been the otoro (not pictured), sake and sake toro nigiris. The salmon quite literally melts in your mouth. The owner is very caring and funny, you can really see he cares about his customers and overall excellent customer service. We're so lucky this restaurant opened up in Alameda!

The place that you have to go. Love the sashimi and tempura.

There's something special about this place that I love. The food is tremendously good, the staff is hustling, and the atmosphere is pleasant. I highly recommend eating here as much as possible.
This is hands down our favorite sushi spot in Alameda—my husband and I come here weekly, and it never disappoints. The restaurant is always clean, the staff are consistently friendly, and the service is top-notch. If you happened to notice a dip in service last week, it was likely due to the recent departure of one of our favorite waitresses, Ariel. We’re truly sad to see her go. That said, Mike continues to hold down the fort with his usual warmth and attentiveness—he always makes sure our water glasses are full and checks in to see if we need anything else. The two sushi chefs behind the bar are phenomenal. Their creations are beautifully presented on elegant wooden boards, and the quality is outstanding. We love everything on the menu, but a few standouts for us are the Nora tacos, lamb chops, and all the nigiri. Five stars, every time. Highly recommended!

We live in SF and are willing to drive over the bridge every time because this place is that good! The Tempura Veggies, Hamachi Crudo, to all the rolls. Everything is divine
Great spot with a great menu. I ordered the venus roll and Madai nigiri. I would’ve also ordered Kurodai nigiri but at the time they didn’t have it in that day. Great service and I’ll be letting others know about this spot!
Nice place for sushi! The fish was fresh and delicious. My only complaint is the sashimi was cut too thick and the miso soup tasted old. I will stick with the rolls next time but this place is good value!

The hamachi and wagyu nigiri were wonderful! The restaurant is very clean and minimalistic, and the staff was really friendly. We enjoyed sake throughout dinner. The end of dinner was finished with a lychee drink and a yuzu cheesecake. Everything was really fresh.
Dropped by during a Sunday. We were seated fast as we got there just as they opened. We found the service to be good. However we also found the place to be a bit more pricey than expected. The dishes were seasoned well. Overall a sold 3 star place.
Really cute place and the waitress was amazing. However the food was not as good. We love unagi, and actually only came here due to them being one of the only places to carry anago (conger eel). They used very very little sauce on it unfortunately, and had a much fisher taste than I'd experienced previously, my standards may be a bit high since I was introduced in Japan though. The regular unagi was ok, but not any better than that. They also used a lot of sesame seeds on both eels, which is pretty atypical since the taste isnt really complimentary flavors. The waitress was amazing and the interior was moody and romantic, perfect for a date.

We had a 7pm reservations on Tuesday evening and didn’t get seated until 7:30pm. Very unorganized. Service is horrible, we felt ignored and dismissed. However food quality is exceptional.
