We had a wonderful dinner, delicious food and I definitely encourage everyone who is in SF to try Taksim for Mediterranean cuisine. Very hospitable staff.

A beautifully balanced meal with vibrant flavors and thoughtful presentation. The Blackened Cauliflower was smoky and tender, complemented by tahini, crispy garlic, and a rich mushroom demi. The Shish Kebab featured succulent beef tenderloin with sumac onions and soft lavash—simple, hearty, and satisfying. Dessert was a highlight: Taksim Donuts with five spice chocolate, mascarpone chantilly, house-made chocolate ice cream, and chocolate sand—decadent yet refined. Highly recommended for a modern, flavor-forward experience.

Went last night with friends, had the tasting menu. Simply outstanding, and reasonably priced given the quality and quantity of food. The restaurant is cozy and hip, and the service was superb. The staff is very attentive and helpful. We will definitely go there again. The cauliflower was my favorite item.

Looking for a place to have your wedding reception?! Well you don’t need to look any further. Birkan was professional and just incredible to work with. My husband found this place and we did their tasting menu just to get a sense of what it’s like. Everything…chefs kiss! I mean the food was great. And we told him the wines to wanted for the wedding dinner. Also, we had only a month to plan on this and the team was great. We chose out the dishes we wanted for our guests. And we they let us in 45 minutes early to set up two long tables. We had 21 guests. So that wasn’t so bad, and we had it in their private dining room upstairs. Everyone loved the food btw! Again chefs kiss. So if you are looking for a nice and just all out delicious food, come here!

I've spent 10 years travelling to this area for business and this is my first time in this restaurant - but it won't be my last. The food was amazing and the service was out of this world, and the price was very reasonable. I'll be back!

Delicious fresh food, attentive service, excellent wine and cocktail, one of the most comfortable parklets we've dined in. Our entrees were the shrimp and the scallops, both excellent. Pictured is the Mr. Roboto cocktail. We will definitely return to Taksim.

Everything was incredible. Kebab was most tender kebab I can recall having, risotto cooked perfectly, shrimp was sweet and tender and steak was amazing

This unassuming spot on a side street is more than meets the eye. Indoors is cool contemporary. The rest unfolds as a pleasant surprise: interior, staff, inventive cocktails, and a strong menu. Hint: the al a carte dishes looked great. But the tasting menu suited my fancy. Enjoy!

Photo & write up from SF Chronicle’s Janelle Bitker: “The team behind popular Mediterranean brunch spot Lokma is stepping into fine dining with Taksim, a modern Turkish restaurant opening Thursday in San Francisco. It takes over the former Cockscomb space at 564 Fourth St., near Brannan Street. The huge, two-story restaurant has 90 seats, two bars and private dining areas. Owners Serkan Sozen, Birkan Dogan, Emre Kabayel and Neslihan Demirtas tapped Daniel Gribble, formerly a chef at three-Michelin-starred Atelier Crenn, to lead the kitchen. With Lokma, Kabayel said he wanted to show that Turkish cuisine is much more than kebabs. Now, he’s taking that idea further — “fine dining with Turkish influences,” he said. His favorite starters include butter-poached shrimp ($18) wrapped in crispy, shredded phyllo dough and served with muhammara, a smoky-sweet dip of roasted red bell peppers, walnuts and pomegranate molasses. There’s also stuffed peppers ($15), inspired by dolmas, with a filling of wood-fired eggplant and manchego cheese. Main dishes include a spin on a traditional Turkish white bean stew called kuru fasulye. Instead of serving primarily beans cooked with a little meat, Taksim’s version stars a massive lamb shank ($34) with beans, sun-dried tomatoes and lamb jus. A twist on Italian risotto ($28) employs wheat berries instead of rice, Turkish raki instead of wine, and aged kasseri cheese instead of Parmesan. Cockscomb’s wood-fired oven will be put to use for breads such as bazlama ($6), a Turkish yogurt flatbread served with sumac-tinged butter, and pita ($8), available with cheese, roasted garlic or za’atar. On the beverage side, the wine list includes a mix of funky natural wines and classic European bottles, with a few options from Turkey. Raki flights — paired with feta and grapes — are available, and the alcoholic drink, made with grapes and anise, makes its way into cocktails like a pomegranate martini ($13). Several cocktails highlight Mediterranean ingredients like black urfa chile and carob molasses. The restaurant is named after a district in Istanbul that’s full of 19th century architecture and international chain stores — a mix of traditional and contemporary that Taksim hopes to show through its food.” —————— 7x7 write up: “Chef Daniel Gribble, formerly of French Laundry and Atelier Crenn, takes a modern approach to Mediterranean classics at his new SoMa restaurant, Taksim. The industrial-chic space revolves around a wood-fire oven that turns out savory meats, seafood, and breads. Grab a seat at the bar for a range of mezze, including three varieties of kebaps; bazlama (Turkish flatbread) with sumac butter, perfect for dips; and pepper stuffed with eggplant and manchego. Mains include roast chicken with tabbouleh salad, quail egg, egg yolk mousse, and homemade sausage with truffle; Anson Mills polenta with ratatouille and herbs; and branzino with anchovy rice pilaf, grilled seabeans, and turnips.”

After a long day of traveling to San Francisco, I wanted to relax and enjoy a good meal. Couldn't ask for better. The entrance is down a side street, though they do have good signage, literally, pointing the way. Great patio area, though I sat inside at the Chef's table. They make everything from scratch & you can tell they respect the ingredients they use. I started with the chilled melon soup. It was light, refreshing with a beautiful mouth feel. Next I had the tomato salad (sorry forgot to take a picture). 3 different greens & several tyoes/preparations of tomatoes in a light balsamic dressing. For the entrée I had the chicken, which the roast in a clay wood fire oven. It cam with tabouli, egg mousse, tiny hard boiled eggs & a chicken truffle sausage. The chicken was very moist, with the crispy skin. The tabouli was light & well seasoned. I ended the meal with the pudding. It was light & mildly flavored with rose, apple & pistachios. I tried the Tunnel mocktail, raspberry & minty, so refreshing.

As a Turkish American I’m always looking for a good Turkish restaurant. I’ve never found the perfect one and unfortunately this wasn’t it either BUT it was very good and I loved the ambiance. I get that they’re trying to elevate Turkish home cooking and make it more of a fusiony California cuisine sort of thing and for that it excelled. Also the cocktails were super good. Try the Raki one. You won’t regret it. I gave one less star on the food because some things were too interpretive end ended up losing their turkishness like the manti which was just 5 largish dumplings in tomato sauce with a dollop of labneh. Real manti is tiny dumpling with mostly yogurt on top with a red sauce drizzle. It was still tasty but my mom was outraged when I sent her a photo lol!! Calm down mom. Everything lamb was awesome and I will definitely be back for the lamb carpaccio and cocktails!

Taksim is nothing short of amazing. Excellent faultless service, food was just wow - they cooked the lamb perfectly blue/rare. The meze was amaze! Desserts were wow and best of all they have Efes. Faultless - a true Turkish experience plus excellent Turkish coffee.

Came here with some friends to celebrate over dinner and had an absolutely amazing feast. We started off with the chickpea fries and their manti, shared their "hearbreaker" dorade and shortribs for our mains, and splurged on almost the entire dessert menu. The service was absolutely fantastic; friendly, accommodating, informative, and attentive. The food was delicious, with everything being full of flavor. The dorade was especially amazing; savory with a tangy sauce and cooked to perfection. The short rib was tender and played against the eggplant really well. The turkish donuts weren't sweet as you'd expect from something made with chocolate but still absolutely delectable anyway, and the baklava story, especially with the ice cream, was the perfect ending to the meal. Absolutely amazing experience; would come back for another splurge.

Highly recommend their tasting menu. The kebab, shrimp and eggplant were the highlights. Super complex yet delicate flavor. We will be back!

A very pleasant surprise of Turkish-inspired dishes with the chef’s own tweaks. For appetizer, we went with the trio dips (all options are good but have one of them be tzatziki). For enters, we went with the duck and branzino. Personally, I enjoyed the branzino more. Lemon sponge cake is also very tasty.

E
Eva Batsikas

Absolutely amazing experience here. Food was so carefully paired that all ingredients sang together in harmony. The branzino was absolutely my favorite. Definitely have the bal & kaymak. So good. Every single dish hit the mark, from appetizers to dessert, and the drinks were fab. Service was great as well, love that every dish was explained. Highly recommend - we’ll be back.

Yes, Taksim, YES! Friendly and attentive service, beautiful presentation, and unique, adventurous flavors. A treat all around. We tried the bread with sumac butter (sour and creamy yum), pita with trio of dips (tomato marmalade was lovely and sweet, baba ganoush was cool and smooth, pepper aioli was tangy and bright), crispy king prawns (crunchy crunch fat prawns with incredible muhammara and pomegranate sauce), and smoked lamb chops that were out-of-this-world soft and melty. And then - after all that tastiness - our server Sero brought us dessert on the house and Turkish tea! Five-spice chocolate sauce with savory Turkish donuts was *chef’s kiss*. Thank you, Taksim - you are my new recommendation for visitors and locals!

Such a cute little gem in Mission Bay Neighborhood. Celebrated husbands birthday and basically almost got everything on the menu. Cocktails were delicious too. Will return next time My favorite dishes were the carpaccio and the branzino, must get!

C

I absolutely love Taksim. From there delicious amuse bouche (tiny cup of pomegranate soup that is to die for!) to the trio of dips (try it with the flower bread instead of the pita to make it extra special) to the perfectly grilled lamb shanks, every dish is scrumptious and beautifully presented. Their cocktails are excellent as well. I had a gin/peach concoction that was the perfect beginning to dinner on a hot San Francisco summer evening. The service is also excellent- everyone is so nice, accommodating and happy to explain each ingredient!

C
Chien Chen

This is a Turkish fusion cuisine lead by Chef Daniel Gribble(formerly a chef at three-Michelin-starred Atelier Crenn). Their food is not that traditional but you could have different and creative experience here. Highly recommend tomato marmalade dip! Great service, great food. Fine but casual. Good for dating or hang out with some friends.

S
Simone Collins

I'm not big on Mediterranean food but wow, this was great! The team is very attentive, the space is beautiful, and the food is both gorgeously plated and tasty without being fussy. We hosted a ten person dinner and had a blast. Taksim is good for both solo dinners *and* larger gatherings.

V
Vy Cu

Delicious! We ordered a variety of items to share: flower bread, shishito peppers, lamb carpaccio, panisse (chickpea fries), the Branzino main, cocktails, and the doughnut and baklava desserts. Everything had such great depth and flavours. I appreciated that our server told us notes from the chef on specific dishes, such as the recommendation to include all the different elements on the plate in a single bite, to experience all the different flavours and textures all at once. They even started the meal with a mini “shot” of a purple carrot soup, as a palette cleanser. And this also was very tasty. I ordered the Mezcal cocktail with the black salt rim. I thought it was very balanced between the citrus, sweetness, smokiness and spiciness. A pretty common way to serve Mezcal cocktails these days but not always a guarantee of success in SF establishments, in my opinion. The bartender at Taksim made an excellent drink!

E
Eric Lai

Taksim is a modern take on traditionally Mediterranean foods and techniques -- with a particular focus on Turkish cuisine. Just like its converted airy modern-industrial setting, the food invites you to enjoy its novel-yet-familiar character while imagining its original inspirations. After eating through an array of starters and mains, it's clear that each item on the menu has been carefully thought out. I'd definitely recommend sharing food family-style, as an efficient way to try a bit of everything! Cocktails here were also tasty and creative. Particular highlights for me were: - Lamb Carpaccio: I found the flavors of the various ingredients here to work together very well. - King Shrimps: The shrimps used in this appetizer were shockingly fresh, and the crunchy texture from the kadaif pushed the dish into "wow" territory. - Branzino: The fish was fresh and well-prepared (notably, flesh was not dry while skin was crispy), and the portion was generous. But besides that, the naturally-salty sea beans and the anchovy rice pilaf both complemented the branzino nicely to produce a well-balanced entrée. - Turkish Donuts: This dessert actually has chocolate prepared 5 different ways. The donuts themselves were not that sweet, but were still chock full of chocolate flavor. Overall, this was an enjoyable dining experience, and I'll definitely be back to try the items I didn't/couldn't get to this time.

This place is a gem. I never write public reviews but we have been here at least five times since they opened, and every time we are are impressed with the immaculately prepared food and the exceptionally gracious service -- they deserve accolades. Freshly fired pitas and flower bread, unparalleled lamb carpaccio (delightfully popping from pickled garlic and fried shallots!), delightfully springy manti, and every soup we've had there is unexpectedly packed with complex (but cozy!) flavors... Also the legendary, buttery, kadaif-wrapped shrimp are colossal and unforgettably delicious. And the juicy kebabs! *swoon.* We usually reserve but have had luck as early walk-ins, too.

An absolute Gem, the service was incredible. The staff was very knowledgeable and the bartender as well as the chefs are extremely talented 👌 a nice cozy atmosphere. We had a party of 7 and the attention to detail was impressive.

My husband and I loved this restaurant! The open kitchen concept was really nice and we had a great experience! The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. All of our dishes were really tasty! We can recommend the manti, eggplant and you have to try the baklava! My husband is Turkish and loved going there! We will definitely be back!

This place not only has incredible food, they know hospitality. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal here and I’m vegetarian. There were plenty of options including their delicious house made dips. My favorite was the babaganoush. The pita bread was heavenly. The chickpea fries are also a must order, great appetizer with the fried chickpeas to munch on. The carrot said is divine, very hearty for a salad. Even if you’re not vegan, consider the cauliflower main dish. So flavorful and delicious. Probably the star of the show was the donuts. Don’t think twice, you’ll never taste a texture like that elsewhere in the best way possible.

A
Ariana Familiar

Absolute gem, I went here solo during a business trip and the meal was fantastic. Cocktails, appetizer, entrée, dessert and tea were all delicious. The dorade fish was some of the best white fish dish I’ve ever had. The service was perfect. Overall definitely worth the price tag, would highly recommend!

We had a fabulous dinner here. We opted to skip the 7 course tasting menu and choose off the regular menu. The Panisse, the chickpea fries, were so yummy! We also had the Trio dips and pita, lamb carpaccio, and lamb chops that were so good. We didn’t care for the Patlican (eggplant), which was a bit bland compared to everything else. The presentation was stunning, and the service was great. The server was very knowledgeable about all the ingredients and which dishes had dairy in them. We had a fantastic experience!

M
Matthew Symonds

Wow! We went with Taksim for our rehearsal dinner in June. It was such a wonderful evening. The food is delicious. The prefix menu serves family style dishes which helped foster conversation and connection as our friends and family enjoyed the delicious Mediterranean dishes. Standouts include the Flower Bread, the Beets, the Lamb (Carpaccio and Lamb Chop), and the Turkish Donuts. The service was excellent - in addition to the food they had a great cocktail selection. Birkan, who coordinated our evening, was super easy to work with and maintained great communication throughout. It left a great impression on our guests and we would absolutely recommend them for a similar bet. We'll be back soon!

E

Good place to catch up with friends. Great cocktails. Pita was made to order. Dips were good but probably wouldn’t choose the hummus again. I really liked the pea salad. The shrimp was great but there was one that the shell was undercooked. The duck was cooked really well. The scallops were more cooked than I would like. Dorade was good. Overall we were full from the plates we shared.

C

Excellent food. We had the Valentine’s Day prix fixe and it was wonderful - shish kebab and lamb chops stole the show. We’re looking forward to going back to try the regular menu.

Had the manti, beef stew for 2, eggplant, and Turkish donut and every meal was exquisite and with its own unique taste. Service was also great with the server recommending a balanced meal attuned to our palate and providing us our preferred seating. Lovely background music as well.

And many investigations the forces have been working. We came here for a business dinner and had a set menu of chickpea fries, various dips and bread, beet salad, kebabs etc... I thought that was the end of dinner but I was wrong. Then they came out with plates of delicious lamb chops and grilled fish. Every item was presented beautifully and absolutely delicious. My colleagues ate the desserts too, which included baklava and donuts and they couldn't stop raving about him. I will absolutely come back again.

Parking is always difficult around here, but it's worth the hassle for this Turkish restaurant. Definitely call ahead and get a reservation cause it might take time to set up a table. Food is wonderful, but the dishes are on the smaller side. But no worries, that gives you the opportunity to try everything! Turkish staff and hospitality. Highly recommend!

As a Turkish person, I loved the Mantı and Tomato Salad from the Meze selection. As for the entrees, the Lamb was SUPERB. Definitely order Lamb when you come here. The Baklava and Palace Pudding were great desserts as well. The flavors felt authentic! Great place to have your first taste of Turkish food.

I’m writing this review as we left the restaurant. That how great I find this place. Came here with my family for a New Years Eve dinner and the food was outstanding! They had a 4 course dinner set for this occasion which was nice. You just choose each course. The ambiance was low key and calm. I loved that you were able to see the chef and his team cook. It made the experience even better. Our waiter (I’m so sorry I forgot his name!) was awesome. He was very informative and assured us that everything on the menu was delicious. It made it difficult to choose when everything sounded delicious! Thank you Taksim for giving us a great experience. I hope you all have an amazing new year! I highly recommend this place for a nice dinner 😌

Delicious food! We sat outside with a party of 6 and baby. It was plenty warm with the heat lamps. Our waiter was very friendly and we did not feel rushed with ordering despite the restaurant being full inside. He answered all of our questions and gave good suggestions on what to order and how much. Our group really enjoyed the variety of dips and sauces. The Halibut was a stand out dish as were the cocktails (Raki!) and chocolate donuts. Everything as delicious & beautiful (bonus!).

This is an AMAZING restaurant. Very chic yet cozy. The music is perfect for the ambiance. The staff are very attentive to your every need. I have a gluten sensitivity problem and they were quick to accommodate and provide DELICIOUS plates. The lamb carpaccio is to die for! I will be back!!!!

Exceptional food, service and hospitality dining experience! We had a corporate dinner hosted at the ground floor, which can be satisfied partly of 18. There is an upper floor with buyout or minimum expense options, giving more private and party or event if needed. Menu options are group-diner. 3-4 courses family-style shared for appetizers (3 dishes), and OYW entree and dessert. Vegetarian is also available. Fine food and fresh ingredients for the dinner overall. I am very impressed by meat cooking-level remained in perfect condition for a multiple orders at the same time for our party ( 7-10 orders of lamb chops). The overall serving pace is running smoothly and well timing management. All crews are friendly and very happy to help. Restroom condition is clean (all genders). A luxurious brand amenity “Aesop” is applied.

Swoon. Taksim offers a modern Turkish take. Inspired meze: everything we tried was delicious. Notable standouts: Patlican (eggplant), lamb carpaccio, crunchy shrimp and chickpea fries. Notable entree: Guvec beef stew which was bursting with flavor. Team is so welcoming. Turkish rugs soften the cool industrial chic decor.

We came here with a large party of 10 people to celebrate my partner's bday. We all ordered the 7 course meal, the lamb carpacio to share and 3 bottles of wine. Overall, I think the 7 course meal is an amazing deal! $55 for a ton of food and variety. The food was also delicious. The addition of the lamb carpacio was also a great idea since we were curious about this dish and it did not disappoint. For the wine, the sommelier was entertaining, knowledgeable and very responsive. I highly recommend following his suggestions, as they were A+. The only thing I would recommend to the restaurant to improve on the experience is to remind the customers what each dish was when it is brought out. The servers placed the dish down on our table without any information, and since we didn't have the menu in front of us anymore, we kept asking what is this dish?

J

One of the best Mediterranean restaurants I have ever been to. Omair and the entire staff were so kind, helpful and so efficient. The tasting menu is astoundingly delicious and I cannot wait to come back. We need you in NYC!

So good!! I enjoyed the food fired bread with dips and the wheat berry risotto. The risotto was light, flavorful, and had a cute presentation (unfortunately I didn't take any photos). The bread portion was small but it was soft, warm, and some very tasty dips. One of them had a similar taste to like a macaroni salad - couldn't say what it was but that was my favorite. They also have a great cocktail menu. The service was excellent and the waiters HANDSOME ;) I also was happy to find free street parking along the side street but it was extremely difficult to then turn around on my way out. Only con to the restaurant otherwise is it is pretty small, I think it would be hard to fit a large party here. We initially were expecting a group of 6 (only then had 4) and to me it seemed like 6-8 would be there maximum to sit together without reserving the whole dining area. They took our extra table which was definitely needed.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! My husband and I went to Taksim tonight to celebrate our anniversary. First, the manager and staff paid wonderful attention to us and made sure we were comfortable and ready to celebrate. They made us feel special from the moment we sat down. We ordered two cocktails (55 t and the Galata) and the tasting menu. I feel like normally with a tasting menu there are some dishes you enjoy over others or maybe some you don’t care for at all - tonight we loved everything we tasted! A special note to the decor and the opportunity to sit at the bar and see the open kitchen crew work their magic. Run, don’t walk, next time you need a special place to eat!

We were looking for something unique and in a neighborhood we don't spend a lot of time in, and were so happy to stumble across Taksim. As soon as we walked in, the smells of deliciousness hit our noses. The staff were very welcoming and also brought over a carrot/ginger soup shot as a little welcome item which was a very nice touch. Throughout the meal the service was stellar. The food itself was also very good. The flower bread is super soft, airy and the sumac butter just takes it to a whole new level. The dip trio was also a very good idea. You've had these dips before I'm sure, but Taksim's are even better. The cocktails and wine list are also impressive with some winners along the way. The Black Salt Blaze and the Peachy Bazaar were both very good! Can't wait tot go back!!

Lovely welcoming staff worked with us through some health issues affecting our reservation. Actually very flexible and accommodating, gave great advice on drinks and menu. Food was spectacular—delicious and memorable. Patlican, Manti and crunchy shrimps were sooooo good, we also had shish kebab, branzino and lamb chops. Artsy decor, felt friendly; we are locals who will love to return to try the rest of the menu!

Taksim was an incredible dining experience. I tried the tasting menu and was genuinely inspired by the cauliflower dish, absolutely floored by the kabobs, and completely blown away by the chocolate dessert. We stopped by after a Giants game and although I wish I had dressed up a bit more, the staff was welcoming and warm. The service was just as outstanding as the food. Highly recommend this spot.

One of the best meals I have had in SF, Taksim is a rare case where the price meets the quality. Multiple dishes here were outstanding, including the lamb carpaccio, lamb chops, and their challah bread and hummus platter. Just delicious The other dishes were good to great, and overall it was a great, great meal. Highly recommend checking out if you want a nice meal in the city for a fair price.

Alright quick confession: I walked back and forth looking for the door a little too long before I realized the sign was an arrow pointing me right to it, but the unintended silver lining was when I did find my way inside and saw how warm and cozy it was it felt like I’d discovered something amazing. The restaurant itself is really beautiful, but it’s not just for show; the food was phenomenal, the cocktails and wine selection were great, and the staff was excellent. Highly recommend, whatever the occasion.

Came with a group for a team dinner for the first time. Servers were all very friendly when we entered, greeting us warmly as we came in. It was a set menu to share amongst everyone and all of it was fantastic. Great variety of flavours and textures, good portion sizes of everything. Cocktails were delicious as well, it was a great time overall!

Our first time at Taksim was AMAZING!!!! Where can I begin…everything from the food, the atmosphere and most importantly the service. Everyone is so so so friendly, warm and welcoming which makes the experience even better. The food is so delicious, it actually feels like you’re sitting down at a Turkish home and eating real homemade Turkish meals made with love…at least that’s how I would describe it. 🥰 My family ordered the following: Appetizers ~ • Wood Fired Flower bread • Cauliflower Cream soup (pic not shown) • Shish Kabob (pic not shown) • Taksim Trio dips & Pita • Gem Lettuce Salad Entrees ~ • Australian Lamb Chops (pic not shown) • Grilled Chicken (pic not shown) • Guvec for two Dessert ~ • Taksim donuts • Raki Palace pudding • Turkish tea Highly recommended to try all these dishes! Everything was super delicious! I would order all of it again! ☺️ Can’t stop saying how I highly recommend trying this place out. Please if you have a chance to be in the city and around the Oracle ball park area and want some authentic Turkish cuisine stop by Taksim. You won’t regret it! Thank you to all the staff there, you guys made our night!

Hidden gem!! We don’t rly eat Turkish food but decided to explore this neighborhood restaurant because they had an extremely affordable tasting menu. And we were so pleasantly surprised!! Everything was delicious, unique (Turkish Californian fusion) and you can’t beat the price. So happy to have discovered this place and would definitely recommend the tasting menu. Love the veggie-forward menu as well! The bf who hates veggies loved them all. Edit: went there a second time and brought friends, who all loved every dish! We shared a few mezes and each had an entree this time. Definitely recommend the panisse, beets, lamb chops, and all the desserts were great. The risotto was the weaker dish but everything else was amazing.

I have now been a number of times and the food, service and ambiance is always great. The cocktails are also noteworthy— I love the Raki based one that is very unique. I always get the Branzino as my main. Their Manti is also delicious. One of my favorite restaurants in the city for interesting Turkish food. They are also very accommodating for Lactose intolerance. Highly recommend it!

This is hands down our favorite Turkish restaurant in the city. While there are a few others, this one truly stands out. We first visited during the pandemic and have been regulars ever since. Whether it’s their seasonal salads, inventive homemade cocktails and mocktails, or the kebabs, lamb chops, and crispy shrimp—the quality is incredibly consistent. It’s tucked away in a quiet alley, making it a lovely spot for a date, a night out with friends, or a casual weekend dinner. Supporting local small businesses is our favorite activity, especially when the food is this delicious!

Fantastic waitstaff, and excellent food. We tried their tasting menu over Valentine's Day, and I have to say that just about everything was good. The highlights: -The Taksim doughnut for dessert was addicting. They also gave us a milk pudding (that my partner really liked) because they made a mistake when bringing the food out. Didn't think that was necessary, but just highlighting how accomodating the staff is here. Thank you! -We really liked the Kebabs, the meat was cooked perfectly and their pita tasted very fresh -The shrimp! Man, the shrimp is so good! I'd eat about 100 of those. The lows: -I'd say these are pretty minor things. The branzino for the tasting menu was a pretty small portion, but it tasted great. I'd say the Ezme was pretty unmemorable for me, it's not bad but just gets pushed to the wayside in comparison with everything else. Overall, very very good. We will definitely be coming back, and I will make sure I have enough money in my bank account for the amount of shrimp I aspire to eat!

Tasty food and attentive service. A bit overpriced, but almost every restaurant in the SF Bay Area is expensive post-Covid. The portions could be a bit larger. Food is original and excellent.

This was my second time dining at Taksim. My first experience was great. I was really looking to order the same dishes on my repeat visit, however, the quality went way down. The fish was too overcooked and almost burnt. And they were cheap on the sauce. Noticably, the place was much busier the second time and maybe their kitchen cannot handle the pressure of higher traffic.

S

Service is impeccable. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to help guide me through the vegan options. They even had a vegan dessert. The tomato marmalade was amazing, and the pita bread was soft and delicious. The polenta and fish dishes that my friends had were very tasty, well balanced and flavorful, and my salad was tasty. The removal of a star was for price. While the food is good, it is overpriced imo.

Favoriate: The roasted chicken was amazing. Turkish bread different dips are great too. Their coktails are amazing, try their rose pomegranate moktail. Great Vibe and friendly staff. The decoration is nice too. It is a cute small restaurant. It a fusion turkish food. They have unique options and all the foods are well plated, amazing presentations. Everything is delicious. It is a little pricey.

Food was fantastic! We got the tomato salad, beef skewer, Lamb chops (yum!), and desserts. Everything was great. However, the service was very bad. Our waitress while plenty nice was very bad at her job. She rarely checked on us and it was difficult to even order drinks or anything else. (We were seated in the upstairs area). Also as we were walking out none of the staff attempted to say goodbye or have a good night. Overall service was just weird and felt lackluster as best.

Carolyn F

Well-executed, well-plated dishes but felt slightly overpriced. Service was spotty with long wait times despite the near empty restaurant even at 7pm on a Saturday night. Got an interesting Turkish wine though the menu said 2006 and the label said 2019.

I came here for a private event, and food was good. We had a few appetizers including traditional dips and pita, and I also ordered the lamb shack which I was not a fan of. Lastly we had their churro dessert and pudding. Churro was definitely better.

S

Good food and drinks but lil disappointed with service - they keep bothering between when we are not done with food to take our plates away! They have very good selection of cocktails and wine - the menu as such is small, the lamb shank is excellent and we tried the 3 mix dip which was good as well.

Likes: Great atmosphere, friendly staff, complementary tea at the end, delicious dessert options, nicely presented food Dislikes: Slow service (~1hr+ from ordering to having mains on the table), Lack of sharable appetizer options Fav menu item: Turkish donuts Considering these Taksim might be slightly overpriced. Not ideal for bigger gatherings but a great location for smaller groups.

Super cute little restaurant with delicious cocktails and vaulted ceilings. Came in for dinner around 5:30 and we were the only table seated. Dinner crowd started rolling in at 7:30ish. What we ordered: All the dips - I love dips and bread so this was a fun way to dine with a group. Big fan of the tomato marmalade. Veggie kebaps - accompanied by sauces and pickles and a wonderful rosemary salt. These are simple grilled veggies. Nothing special. Lamb - paired with a roast pepper sauce and dumplings. The dumpling skins are doughy and a bit tough. The lamb was perfectly medium rare. However I like my meats slightly charred (the kitchen is open and there’s a giant wood fired oven!) so was disappointed that this was a super simply prepared lamb. Not very gamy. Halloumi layered at the bottom. Everything on the plate was relying on the flavor of the ingredients itself. Chocolate doughnuts - surprised that the doughnut and dollop of cream had almost no sugar? The chocolate ice cream was sweet. So you really had to eat them together. Pudding - yummy, rosy, nutty. Lemon meringue sponge cake - like a mini version of a very good lemons meringue cake. Overall, liked the atmosphere, drinks were good, service was friendly, and the food was fine. Personally, this is a good place to stop for drinks and apps.

Our server was very friendly and playful. The ambiance was nice and casual. I did wish it was a bit more relaxing. The food was hit or miss. The branzino was really tasty. The pita needed to be fluffier and was also not served warm. The baba ghanoush needed more eggplant. Overall a decent meal but nothing spectacular.

Met a friend for dinner. It has indoor and outdoor seating. Conveniently located on the T Muni stop. There is a paid parking lot across the street though it’ll get crowded during games as it’s near the ballpark. We ordered the 7 course tasting menu which you had to pre-order. I was worried that it would be too much food. It was just right! Nice vibe. Some folks were dressed casually others got dressed up (at least by SF standards). My dinner companion and I would try it again although we’ll try a la carte. The diners next to us had interesting dishes delivered to their table.

Mixed reviews on food and service here. I went there with my friend’s recommendation so I was excited to try Turkish food in the city. Food - I liked the kebab most among what we ordered. The 5 dips were nice too but a bit disappointed with the bread came together with the dip. The worst is the chicken breast! It looks like they cut the half of chicken breast and serve it and even dry on some parts. I don’t recommend. Cocktail was really good and well balanced. Our server was okay but a bit felt judged on what we ordered. Overall, i felt like it’s hit and miss based on what you ordered and somehow the place wanted to be upscale place but it seemed like they need to put more quality on food. I don’t mind paying more money if the food worth it but definitely feel like there is something important is missing

The falafel was good. Some of the meats were tasty but some of the other flavors were lacking. We didn't appreciate the surprise fees to dine in and then tips when it's not really a full service environment. They are nice and passionate about the food but ehh. Left me with a lot to be desired.

Service and atmosphere was top notch, and they have clearly put thoughts, efforts, and love into this. The food, however, fell short for us, particularly factoring the size of the bill. we did not find the appetizers worth what we paid, but the entree was better

Dishes were poorly balanced in terms of flavor, seasoning and texture. Dumplings were good, but for their size the skin was too thick and doughy, needed more filling. Lamb Carpaccio needed more sauce/acidity. Flower bread w/sumac butter was ok. The sumac flavor was subtle but there wasn't anything in the bread to contrast/bring out the sumac. Melon salad was sad. The watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew were poorly selected, having no sweetness in them at all. The promising dish fell flat as these fruits were flavorless pieces of texture. The mint was whole leaf and sparse. The branzino was poorly balanced, all the saltiness in the dish came from the sea beans, the branzino was cooked well. The sardine pilaf tastes good but needed the sea beans for the salt. Turkish donuts were the most disappointing: donuts were flavorless, grainy, and mushy. The chocolate accoutrements couldn't save it. Cocktails were great, can't recommend eating here.
