Thirsty Horse Saloon is one of those places that just feels like pure Texas fun. The music is always great, the dance floor stays full, and the energy in the place is hard to beat. Whether you know how to two-step or you’re just there to hang out, it’s easy to feel welcome. The staff is friendly and keeps the drinks coming even when it’s packed, and the crowd is a good mix of regulars and first-timers just out to have a good time. Every time I’ve gone, it’s been a blast and exactly the kind of night you hope for. If you’re looking for live country music, dancing, and a fun, laid-back atmosphere in San Antonio, Thirsty Horse is always a solid choice.
I kid you not… this is one of my favorite dance halls! Bri (my favorite) is an amazing bouncer and very attentive. Every bad review about thirsty honestly leaves me shocked. I’ve been here many many many times. Usually about 3 days a week and not once have I had a bad experience. Music is amazing, bands are high energy, patio is clean, bartenders are attentive and personable. I feel at home and safe here. Bouncers are always kind and approachable. They take care of the women in the bar making sure they always feel safe. I highly recommend coming here. Good dance community and kind workers. Shout out to the bartenders Riley, Meg, Cori, Paul and Tarryn. Genuinely some of the best bartenders i’ve ever had.
Great country club! Can't express enough how full this place gets. Parking lot is usually full by 11pm. Inside you have bars in several places including outside. The dance floor is enormous with great live music. And the drinks are extremely affordable. Usually 6 bucks for a beer. Get here early if you want a table, chairs or close seating to the live band. Honestly a great experience, highly recommend.
If you’re heading to Thirsty Horse, you already know the vibe is unmatched, but Bri is truly the secret ingredient that makes the place feel like home. She completely redefines what it means to be a bouncer; instead of the typical intimidating presence, she offers a level of comfort that instantly puts you at ease. Bri is a master at her job, moving through the crowd with a watchful eye and a genuine heart, constantly checking in to ensure everyone is having a great time and staying safe. Whether she’s de-escalating a situation with total grace or just offering a friendly nod, her ability to make every guest feel protected and "okay" is a rare gift. It’s her perfect balance of professionalism and warmth that makes her such a standout—knowing Bri is on the floor means you can truly relax and enjoy the night.
Noah, who worked the front door at the Cowboy Breakfast, was incredible! He was friendly, welcoming, and had an amazing attitude the entire time. He made everyone feel excited and comfortable as they came in. Truly a great first impression!!! thank you, Noah!
Love going to Thirsty Horse Saloon for the true country atmosphere. DJ Brody keeps it authentic, playing classic country and I always have a good time. Always a fun, laid-back vibe and a great place to dance and unwind
It"s a very nice place for a date night with your significant other or if you like to go dance country music. If you're hungry they have a grill where you can order food like hamburgers, quesadillas or mini tacos. And food it"s really good.
Great space for dancing. Great bartenders, and plenty of them. No waiting for drinks. Karaoke out back with a live band was fun too. I'll go back next time I'm in SA.
Detailed Update: November 2025: A Sunday sometime ago, I had a vehicle lockout situation with my truck, and a tall gentleman with a cowboy was helpful and hooked me up with a fellow staff member who glady assisted me out to the truck to the best of his ability with his flash light helping look for the keys and made a recommendation for a locksmith. It left an impression that these guys rock--a blessing to have helpful souls supporting the patrons. Karaoke is awesome as I enjoy singing a song or two, I think and feel you may as well. Emily the host for karaoke is sweet, friendly and an approachable gal, as well as the bartender Taryn has a sharp memory with fixing you a drink the way you like it. These steller souls deserve recognition for the Sunday crew. Visit them if you are in the area and dance, sing, or socialize with flavor, yes or yes?
Thirsty Horse always has live music. Inside is a large dance floor and with country music artists performing on stage. Outside you will find a second stage with various genres of music except for Friday and Sunday's when the entertainment becomes Live Band Karaoke. There is also a sports bar! Seriously, this place has something for everyone.
I love Thirsty Horse so much. I’ve been going to this bar for over 9 years. It’s hard to compete with the place and the experience you have when there. They have a live band every night they are open, a huge back patio and tons of space to hangout with friends. They have a kitchen inside the bar that serves awesome food, I personally love the sliders! The bartenders are so fast and friendly and always get my drink order so quickly It’s great that I never have to wait in a long time for a drink.when the band takes a break, the Dj’s are awesome at picking good music, I love it when a good line dance comes on. To sum it up Everything about this place is top notch, go check it out!
Absolutely LOVED my Friday night here when I was visiting from Minnesota! An Uber driver said it was his favorite dance hall. I was moved to tears seeing so many people dancing, it was beautiful. Enjoyed having different areas to hang out—indoor/outdoor. Staff were friendly and kind. That night there was karaoke with a live band, sign me up!
Had so much fun! Always wanted to go line dancing in a "real" Texas saloon, and I'd say it was quite an experience! Fun atmosphere. Everyone is just there to have a good time! Bartender was great and quick for as busy as she was! Went on a Friday night, and the live band was great! Would definitely visit again!
Awesome place! Great music, vibes, food and service! Thanks to Steven our bartender by the stage for an awesome experience. We truly appreciate all the hospitality! Pictured in these particular photos is the JR Herrera band! Thanks to the kitchen, bar and all staff from this incredible venue!
Fun dancehall to visit for line dancing or country swing. They have an indoor and outdoor stage with DJs and live music. Drinks are decently priced and food is available. It gets very busy on a Satur…

Such a fun spot! We took dance lessons on Thursday night and the instructor was great, very fun energy. I loved the addition of the line dance at the end, we had so much fun! I'd give her 5 stars. The bartenders were very kind and attentive. The only reason I didn't give this a place a full 5 stars is because I wasn't a fan of the DJ. Maybe he was having a bad day but, he wasn't as friendly and personable as the rest of the staff boarding on cold. He only wound up playing 1 of the songs we'd requested and some of the music seemed better suited for a hoedown or square dancing than for 2 step or line dancing, but we'll definitely be back! UPDATE: I loved the response from the establishment and returned the next Thursday to find that the music was much better, so I see what they mean about the music changing from one night to another. I was out on the dance floor much more the second night and had so much fun doing so many different styles of dancing. Line dancing, two step, triple step, half step, waltz, cha cha, I might be missing some it was all so much fun. Based on this one night, I felt like it was a welcoming atmosphere for so many different styles of dance I saw people trying new dances and more experiences dancers guiding them how, it was really lovely and I hope it continues in that way. This time my interaction with the DJ was better but still a little odd, I ultimately only requested one song and sent my husband to request another, mine was played but his was rejected so it can be hit or miss with song requests. Ultimately, I had such a great time and would definitely recommend checking out this place if you just want to dance all your cares away.
Very beautiful entertainment atmosphere/outdoor area are Amazing (Unfortunately, 2 individuals/employees are not very professional/customer service 😕, & not very Christians of two...*photo I did post of them two*) ☆☆☆☆☆Other than that, this is an Excellent entertainment/dancing saloon/bar open to the Public; except during special events/award occasions) I highly recommend Thirsty Horse Dancing/Saloon and Bar☆☆☆☆☆ 👍👍🎶🎤💃😊🌹👌
Nice club, lots of fun, drinks are average priced. Just be very careful of the valet guys. I'm not sure if they're used to taking advantage of patrons that might have been drinking but they seem to think they can. I gave the guy a $20 for $13 parking. He just walked away, and I said hold up! Where's my change? He had change on him so it's not like he had to go get it. Watch these guys!!!!
Didn’t really have a pleasant night last time. The bouncers there act like there’s some type of law-enforcement. Asked to speak with a manager named Sal and he refused to come out to address the prob…
Bouncers push their weight around. They don’t know how to communicate and believe they are the law there. Other than that not bad. No biggie I will take my family elsewhere
My friends and I were there last night and had a great night, until a group of younger kids told me that I did not belong there and my presence was not wanted there. They went as far to have two tall guys stand in front of me so that I cloud not see the band. I walked away feeling hurtful because I could not believe kids have the heart to behave in this manner. Then they called security and told them that we were taking pictures of them. Security escorted us out and I askedcthe security how does he know this to be true and he said they had me recording them and I asked the security why was it ok for them to record me but me not OK to record them? The security guy said we were being argumentative. We will never go back to a racist place like this. I
Very disappointed and disgusted This was our first year attending the Thirsty horse cowboy brunch. Lines were ridiculous!!! The sausage was thrown on the grill as we walked up; hence cold and tough sausage The chicken fajita taco had a long hair
So the customers themselves were really inviting but not the staff. I don’t have a phone line so I asked for WiFi and the bartender was not helpful, she said she did not know and said to ask someone else, she pointed at a random crowd and I asked who I tht she was pointing at and it wasn’t him then I asked her again and again pointed at a random crowd and I had to ask her to clarify many times. I am a bartender as well and in the service industry and I just didnt like the way she was attending me when my uncle was ordering drinks all night from her, I told him not to tip because of her behavior. This bar attends their regulars like favoritism and that’s just not fair when I traveled 5 hrs to go out w my family and be treated like a minority. Me and my best friend both chose songs to sing and they skipped over us maybe because I chose a Spanish song and also because they kept letting the regulars sing songs and skipping over us. Overall I would’ve gave a zero but because the actual customers made me feel welcomed then the staff and place itself, I attached below the bartender that didn’t serve well and had some sort of attitude her name is Vanessa apparently but she was probably lying because she knew she was not giving good service. Also I’m updating this because the bartender herself went up to sing twice, why r we letting employees on the clock sing kareoke she was probably the one that skipped over us too, we know we had a place because we had signed up at 11 and stayed untill 2 am and they never got to us and when confronted they didn’t do anything about it.
My grandma is having knee replacement surgery in 2 weeks but she loves Easton. We reached out prior to showing up asking if there was any way they could accommodate us with wheel chair. The lady on the phone stated they would be able to work something out. When we got there I was told to speak to the general manager. He seemed like what I was asking for was completely unreasonable. Verbatim said “we’ve never had a situation like this before”. I’ll be sending a discrimination claim to the BBB so they can come up with a solution in the future to anyone specially our veterans to enjoy some country music in a wheel chair.
