My buddy and are both German and have lived in Germany and honestly the food was like eating at a fine Restaurant. Not only were the main dishes excellent (Jägerschnitzel and Sauerbraten) but the side dishes as well. Great beers (Hefeweizen) on tap washed it all down. We sat outside on the perfect day so the Atmosphere was great! Sevice was excellent!
Just had lunch with a buddy on a Monday. Fantastic fries (skinny and fried just right) as part of my delicious fish and chips. My buddy had the salad with a side perfectly cooked salmon. Hospitality was great - very welcoming and fast service. On a warm afternoon their west facing patio would be perfect. My wife would like many things on the menu, lots of salads and “not heavy” main courses. And the beers - a diverse selection from around the west with many styles. Keep it up. Can’t wait to go back.
Only stopped by for a beer, so can't comment on the food. Of course the beer was great. They have a good selection on tap. They still aren't back to making their own, but I'm told 2024 is a good target. Inside vibe has a bit of old school bar vibe with a couple of TV's above the bar. Outside is a functional patio facing the parking lot. Wait staff were very friendly and attentive (took me a bit to find the beer I wanted). Will update once I come back for the food!
Smash burger Wed pair with a Fremont hustle and driven by curiosity I tried St. Bernardus A dark, quadruple-style beer with a 10% ABV, a robust ivory head, and a long, bittersweet finish
Everything is good. But if you’re not ordering skinny garlic fries, your meal could be 150% better! Enjoy!!
They’re a brand new location- just opened in July 2019 so I’m gonna cut em slack on things that need improvements. I’ve been here 8 times since they’ve opened and it’s August 19th today. I enjoy coming here. Long story short it’s a place with beer for all and pub food and there is NO place like this anywhere in Alamo. It’s cool. Sure there is some beer and some food I didn’t like but a lot of it I do like. People who judge things off of one visit are typically impatient and overly critical. Give the place a few tries and try new things. Then make a decision. Personally I can’t wait for the outdoor patio to be built. That’s gonna be awesome.

We stopped in here on our drive home from San Luis Obispo a couple of weekends ago. It happened to be cinco de mayo, and while we didn't see any specials posted for the holiday, we decided celebratory tacos were in order, so my boyfriend ordered the beer battered, cod fish tacos ($19). I had a plate of buffalo wings ($15) with the regular buffalo sauce, and the hellfire sauce on the side. Their wings are really good - meaty and not super fatty. The skin was cooked crispy and they had great flavor. I also had a craving for the garlic parmesan french fries (skinny cut; $9) and I maintain my belief that these are the best french fries you can find in all of Contra Costa County. I have felt that way for years and was sad when their Concord location closed and I thought the fries were gone forever. We actually ordered a chicken finger appetizer ($15) to go (with more of the hellfire sauce); we weren't hungry at all, but my boyfriend had been craving them and put in the order before realizing how full we already were. Unfortunately, those came out really overcooked. Even a good dousing in the sauce at home didn't help much, but perhaps the cook rushed them, knowing it was for a table dining and about to leave... I don't know. It was forgivable though - that happens. A couple of pilsners ($8) for him and a couple of sours ($10.50) for me completed the meal. I have to say, the food was great, but maybe tied at the top of things we enjoyed was service from Ronnie. He was on top of everything! Checking back in on us frequently, but not obnoxiously often - keeping drinks full, remembering our food order and getting it right, just in general friendliness as well. He was terrific! Great service when dining out is so memorable; we'd been driving for hours in traffic on our way home, so the excellent service was extra appreciated. Thanks guys!
Why is this.. that when the owner or Senior staff is there. The service is perfect. Sat on counter for 5 mins, no one came by. Go eat dust, take my money and time somewhere else.
"I've been here twice now and loved it both times. Whether it's hanging out to watch the Niners with friends or enjoying the superb steak salad with family, while we imbibe in beers, bubbles, this place never disappoints. Still looking forward to trying Joe's Country Chili!"
Best burger i have had anywhere hands down. Chk feta salad is amazing and the onion rings are to die for. Great atmosphere.
Stopped in this place to avoid the rush hour traffic and man what a find. Great selection of beers and you have to try their snitzel. It was delicious.

Hello, Oktoberfest! I have to give kudos to EJ Phair’s staff for going all in, 100% embracing the German/Bavarian celebration. Both the male and female waitstaff dress in lederhosen or dirndls. Their beer menu reflects Märzens, Hefeweizens, Festbiers, Pilsners, and Dunkels, while still offering IPA’s, stouts, and all your other faves from local craft brewers. Their food menu also reflects the celebration, offering Bavarian food specials. The staff were exceptionally friendly, the food service was quick. I’m not a huge fan of potato salad, but theirs may be the best I have ever tasted. Their burgers are delicious. Restrooms are clean. Indoors, the brewery resembles an old English tavern. It’s dimly lit for ambience. Perhaps this is just for Oktoberfest. I’m not sure, but I dug it. There is also a patio area if you’re included for some subiste with your brew
The Rueben Sandwich was very tasty! The Double Barrel IPA and Alamo IPA were on tap today, along with a good variety of their beers/ ales as well as Guest list Still no sign on the building, I heard that a metal sign is in the works Parking can be difficult in the Plaza center.

I was a fan of the Concord location, so was pleased to see the expansion to Alamo. The beer is good and the menu is well thought out. I work nearby and often swing by for lunch. Sadly my last 3 visits have not worked out. The first I had a lovely beer(shortie's revenge) but my fish tacos were cold in the middle. I get an hour for lunch, so there was no time to retry. Last time I sat at the bar while a white haired gentleman did stuff that did not include taking my order, or looking in my direction . I waited 15 minutes and left. Today was a replay, but I only waited 5 before I went across the parking lot for a burger. At least today I didn't return to work hungry. I know the 2:30 to 3:30 time period is slack so you don't want to over staffed, but frankly when I return it will be after work.
It's still nice enough weather to sit out on the patio and catch some rays and eat some good food and drink some good beer and be around good people

I’ve been coming here for years and never got disappointed until the last few times. Their food portions keep getting smaller and smaller, specially their smashed burgers. Today I had the ham and Gruyère omelette and I don’t know where the Gruyère was, not in my omelette for sure. The omelette itself was way overcooked and they said 3 eggs in it. That was not 3 eggs, trust me. Very disappointed last 3 times so we are going to skip this spot for a while. Cheers
Celebrating Oktoberfest for 2 weeks. The German chocolate cake was incredible!

The food was okay. I had the buffalo cauliflower, jaegerschnitzel, and espresso creme brulee. The cauliflower was under cooked (the server recommended it over the frickles (fried pickles)). Also, the cauliflower comes with a side of bleu cheese or ranch per the menu, so I asked for bleu cheese. When the food came there wasn't bleu cheese, and so I asked for it. When the bill came I was charged for an extra side of dressing. I pointed out the extra charge to the server and he said he'd have to check if the cauliflower comes with dressing (it does). The jaegerschnitzel was good but the sauce was a little watery and the spaetzel was mushy. I will say the espresso creme brulee was delicious, though there wasn't a carmelized sugar top (I believe there should have been according to the menu - and it's creme brulee). As for service, it was slow given they were at about 30 percent capacity (I waited almost 10 minutes for a menu). Either the server was new or just...IDK. End of day, I was excited to come here and slightly disappointed when I left unfortunately. I like EJ Phair and am guessing this was a fluke, so I will probably try them again someday.
Maybe it's just brunch. Ordered Benedict ....bacon avocado tomato ...no Turkey please...I received turkey only. Service was slow so I didn't want to reorder....said I would just eat potatos and take off bill ... Nope, took entire plate.😦 Did take off bill. Also broccolini not as advertised, just broccoli 🥦 in my son's omelet and eggs were dry. Our waitress was sweet. Potatoes that came with omelette were fantastic

I can't comment on their food or drink, because after 30+ minutes on a quiet Thursday no one had taken our drink order. The utensils and napkins etc for one uncleaned table sat on the ground next to that table during our thirty minute wait, felt unsanitary. We gave up and found amazing service at a nearby establishment.
