Amazing place just got back from here and already ready to go back for dinner amazing service pastry’s are amazing the pastry chef is amazing and so is the owner makes you feel very welcome
Far From France is a wonderful restaurant. They have genuine French food. The social ambiance is friendly and relaxing. The owners, Albon and Josephine, are lovely people who have created a warm atmosphere with great food. They also have special event dinners that are worth going out of your way for.
Dinner Saturday and the food was exceptional! And memorable! We’ll be back soon! Best chocolate espresso martini! Best Part and we were all in agreement! Food was NOT SALTY EVER! Thank you for providing tasty, delicious food with little or no salt!
One of the best restaurants in Wilmington! We are never disappointed! The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is excellent! The atmosphere is wonderful! They have The best french fries in town!
Far From France is superb in every way. From the croissants to the quiches to the macarons, this place is spot on authentic and delicious every time I visit. Some of my friends complain about it being a bit pricey, but the high quality makes it all worth the price. A must-do stop in Wilmington for anyone craving une expérience française!
My review is a bit delayed having dined at this restaurant for dinner a week after it's Grand Reopening and two months later for brunch and another dinner. I just heard some negative remarks the other evening and I want to personally say that having three different dining experiences, have been consistent in "Excellent" for service, food, Beverages and customer service. Each visit, the owner and manager would stop by our table to inquire how we liked our meal. Staff was always professional and attentive. We have reservations on Valentine's Day because we wanted an exceptional dining experience. We have traveled to France several times, and I always have to pinch myself when I realize I am in NC at the Pointe, dining at "Far From France". Bravo!!!
I may update this after more visits and many more wonderful meals. However, my first lunch was fantastic. I got the cheese soufflé. It was delicious... even memorable! I often rate my food experiences based on "will I remember that dish forever", and that is how my cheese soufflé was. I got a few pastries to go and they were very good too. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes.
This French restaurant is as authentic as it can be. The food as well as the service is exceptional. My favorite is the salmon dish nicely paired with a glass of Vouvray, finishing up with a Grand Marnier Souffle
I had the best French Dip sandwich today. The baguette had texture even after the dip. Beef was tender and flavorful. Onions, cheese and creamy horseradish sauce were well balanced. The garden salad was very fresh with a light vinaigrette. Great lunch!
Very good. Best crepes in Wilmington. Had the raspberry and brie. It was amazing. French dip on fresh baguette and the chicken and spinach feta crossaint were also very good. Loved the matchstick fries can't wait to return. Guest friendly menu. Lots to choose from and a fresh baked retail space. Go!
The owner is fun. The dessert are absolutely amazing. Get a glass of wine and dessert. You will thank me later.
Amazing food, Wonderful dining experience. The crepes are good, authentic. The Crab Benedict is one of the best I've had, and the French Toast is the top I've ever had anywhere. Highly recommend.
The owners are amazing the service is outstanding. The crepes are fantastic. The souffle is probably the best I have ever had and I lived in France for 14 years. The bakery is truly a wonder, like being in a French pastry shop.
From the moment you step into Far from France, you’re transported—not just to the warm ambiance of a thoughtfully curated space, but to a cultural experience that’s as rich as the cuisine it offers. Nestled at The Point, this charming restaurant is more than just a place to eat—it’s a destination for anyone who appreciates fine food, great service, and the French language. The food is simply excellent. Every dish is crafted with precision and passion, blending classic French flavors with subtle, creative twists that delight the palate. Whether you’re savoring a perfectly flaky croissant at breakfast or indulging in a beautifully plate for dinner, the quality and care are unmistakable. What truly sets Far from France apart, though, is the service. The staff are incredibly welcoming, attentive without being intrusive, and genuinely enthusiastic about both the food and the guests. You feel valued from the first greeting to the final bite. As an added delight, the restaurant doubles as a gathering place for Francophones and French learners alike. Whether you’re fluent or just starting to say bonjour, you’ll find a friendly, encouraging environment to connect, converse, and immerse yourself in the language. It’s not unusual to overhear conversations in French flowing as smoothly as the wine, and the sense of community it fosters is truly special. Far from France is more than a restaurant—it’s a warm, vibrant corner of French culture right here at The Point. Highly recommended for food lovers, language enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.
We have been here twice in the last week. My wife had the Salmon Bowl twice be cause she said it was that good. I had the tuna bowl and the Crab Crepe. Both were very good. Excellent service and at least on Sundays they have $5 mimosas. Excellent!
I have to preface this by saying, I have not dined in yet. I only got pastries to go... but I will be going in to eat very soon! The pastries were absolutely AMAZING!!! I have been let down by SO many bakeries in the area, but this place really is fantastic! Also, their pastries are not grossly overpriced like most bakeries. The macarons are shipped in from France, and actually some of the best I've had. They have a really nice selection of sweet and savory pastries for whichever way your snacking desires lean. The lemon bars and chocolate mouse tart were divine! I am saving chocolate and raspberry croissants for breakfast. 10/10 HIGHLY recommend stopping by and grabbing some snacks. I will update once I dine in.
This is hands down my favorite restaurant in town! The atmosphere is elegant and welcoming, the food is consistently delicious, and the service is outstanding. George always goes above and beyond to make sure we’re happy, and the owner is incredibly kind and polite. My family and I truly love coming here. it’s always a great experience!
My experience here surpassed my expectations! Even though the place is called Far from France it’s comfort was not by any means far from France 🇫🇷 Amazing food, Fine dining service experience and the ambience was spot on! I hope this becomes a staple here in Wilmington. We need authenticity when it comes to food. Five star all across the board ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a wonderful lunch. This restaurant is lovely, has delicious food & terrific service. My sister & I split a cheese souffle & bowl of ratatouille. Of course we has chocolate mousse & creme broiling afterwards.
Went for dinner before a movie with my wife. We love food — more than anyone I’ve ever met. We cook it, we travel to experience it, and we’re constantly looking for new ways to enjoy it. And we live in Wilmington. I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to discover this gem! French food without pretense, but it’s not “French Inspired” this menu isn’t far off from what you’d see in France. And the food was prepared better than I was hoping. (French food in Wilmington leaves a little to be desired) We had the Monkfish and Bronzino. I haven’t seen turned potato’s in years! The grill on the fish tasted wood fired. It was amazing. And the Country Pate starter is in my list of some of the best you can get in ILM. Can’t wait to come back! Also the patio outside is beautiful. Grab a bottle of wine and indulge in some amazing appetizers that didn’t come from a “frozen food chef”. Thank you!!
I recently returned from France. Upon returning, I searched online for authentic French food and located this restaurant. I drove an hour and a half to give it a try. It was superb in every respect. I tried a handful of courses, espresso, crepes, and bought some pastries to go. It was all as good, if not even better, than everything I ate in Paris. l had a Croque Madame and the Saumon Fumee as well as several crepes. Magnificent!! In addition, Julia behind the bar, and the rest of the staff were welcoming, attentive, and friendly. I briefly spoke to Alban, who is the owner, along with his wife Josephine, to convey my satisfaction with a superb meal. I will definitely be back. I wish this gem of a restaurant many years of success!
Dinner and bakery was on pointe!!! Loved the tomato mozz salad and the bowtie pasta! Great menu and wine selection. BEST baguettes outside of France!!! 🥖🥖🥖 Great vegetarian options!
Love it here. The owners are great, the service is always excellent, and the food is always amazing. We drive about 1.5 hours to dine here several times a year and it is worth it every time.
One of my favorite spots in Wilmington! This place is so delightfully charming. I came here for high tea and everything was so delicious that I ended up staying for a cappuccino and even more pastries. Its become a place that my friends and I visit weekly. I don't think I've tasted a single menu item that's disappointed me..and I've had a good portion of the items they offer at this point 😅 After reading some reviews from other people, I'm honestly shocked by people's comments about the owner. He is so nice and always greats my friends and I when we come in. All of the staff is very attentive and welcoming.
NOW you can get a very special lunch or dinner meal done with excellent savors and sides.. You have to try their dinner menu for a very special treat.. Try their steak menu!! BRAVO far from France!! Les délices de France!! The real thing: French baguettes, croissants, cheeses, pâtés, unique condiments, chocolate creations, expresso coffee and collection teas ... You'll love them all. Pricey but a French souvenir that's well worth it !!! Try them and you'll see ... I took a dozen macaroons to a luncheon and everyone 'oohed and ahhed'. They are tasty jewels!
I don’t usually review but I felt I needed to. Far from France is by far one of the most fantastic restaurants in the Wilmington area! The service is impeccable, and the delicious food matches the level of service just the same. There are few places you can get a good piece of duck in Wilmington, and the duck at Far from France blew me away. The Blackcurrant sauce with the wild rice and vegetables complimented it perfectly. I encourage anyone to try this amazing place!!!
Best bakery in town, I’ve been coming here since they first open years ago, and I have never been disappointed; on the contrary, I’m delighted every single time. Yummmmy. Wow. ♥️
My husband and I had the best lunch yesterday! He had the French toast and I had a baguette sandwich. Both meals were spectacular! Wait staff is very friendly. Espresso martini was top notch 👌
I am French, and I discovered the restaurant and the bakery and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, the kindness and my staff professionalism. But a big thank you to Mr. Pelletier and his wife for this superb evening.
Awesome casual place for good french food. Their french onion soup is equl or better than the onion soups I've had in actual France
We had the honor of being a part of the soft opening. Albon and Josephine have created a superb experience. We started with a generous cheese plate and goat cheese salad. The dressing, pine nuts and three cheese balls made this salad special. I had the pork with lavender honey. The pork was cooked perfect and full of flavors that were missing from my life. For desert I ordered the apple tart. It was perfect light pastry with apple and ice cream. The attention to service that was paid to everyone from making sure your water was full to plate clearing was on point. We can’t wait to try more of the menu.
This is one of our favorite places to dine out. Now, they're open for dinner too!! Last weekend, they catered my party and the food was delicious! Everything on the black tray was from them as well as the macarons. This restaurant is authentically French and not an American restraunt pretending to be French. The owners speak French and have been very patient with my very rusty university French. It is a wonderful place for anyone who adores French food and culture to visit
We made reservations for high tea for my friend’s birthday. It was FANTASTIC. The staff was so welcoming and efficient. They refilled our tea quickly and took time to explain each of the pastries and treats that were brought out for us. It was an awesome experience and we will definitely be back.
The food here is great! We loved the beef bourguignon which was a special when we ate there. The presentation in a small cast iron dish was very well done. They offer several desserts that you need to order when you order your entrées to allow for preparation. Plan ahead and get the soufflé!
I ordered the most amazing crepe cake from Far from France for my daughter's 16th birthday party. It was the one thing she asked for. The staff and owner were so kind and professional when taking my order and scheduling my pick up time. When I arrived to pick up her cake I was about 5 minutes before my scheduled pick up time. I was greeted with very happy faces and told that they were still putting the topping on her cake and asked if I would like a coffee on the house while I waited. I had a wonderful vanilla iced latte and while I waited the 3 minutes it took them to finish I ordered 6 beautiful macaroons for the ride home. The owner helped me carry all of my things to the car so I didn't drop the cake! I just want to say a very big "THANK YOU" for making her day so special and for your impeccable customer service. You all went above and beyond to make my experience a memorable one. You don't see many people anymore actually having pride in the work they do and the way they value their customers. It was a perfect cake and we appreciate you guys so much! We will definitely be back to see you guys very soon!
Fantastic experience. It’s rare that food and atmosphere and service are all on point. Great job. All the ingredients were fresh. Even the little bowl of fruit was great. The fries are amazing. Crepe was perfect. Soup and sandwich hit the spot. Oh and the coffee was lovely.
The quietest Coziest place for a delicious Brunch / Lunch in Wilmington. If you're visiting, skip the wait at Famous and give Far from France a visit. The Louis XIV Crepe, Café au Lait and, if you're extra hungry, the Eggs Benedict makes for a Savory and Sweet breakfast packed with flavor.
Great local French restaurant in. the Point Movie Theater shopping center. Always a great time. Plenty of free parking outside. Nice selection of menu choices for everyone to enjoy
Outstanding bakery! Everything is so fresh. The restaurant is so beautiful and you have the option of sitting down or taking things to go. Their crêpe menu is extensive with an excellent batter. I cannot wait to eat here again! A solid Parisian restaurant in the south is always a wonderful surprise. I was very impressed. Our server was new, but she was excellent too!
We come here every time we are in Wilmington. Last night I had my daughters graduation dinner for 13 people. The food was incredible as always, the service was friendly and timely. It was a perfect evening. Hands down the best restaurant in Wilmington!
Far From France has the way of a Paris restaurant. Very classy inside decor in a great central location in the heart of Wilmington, NC. The lady waitresses dressed in French colors add beauty & charm to the scene. Prime spot for lunch or dinner with superb food quality. Beautiful bakery including treats & delicacies to top it off.
Really cute place. Surprisingly inviting and with an incredible atmosphere. They have the restaurant and a separate bakery area for a quick to-go item. I tried the espresso with a raspberry dessert and an eclair. It was incredible! I came in their off hours (between lunch and dinner service) so dessert it was! Next time, I'll come back for dinner!
This place is extraordinary, stepping into this place takes me back to when I was over in Europe and the food is amazing. The owners hospitality and humility is above reproach and the waiters and waitress are there before you can even ask. The pastry are above and beyond as well as the bakery server she’s very humble and answers any questions you may have. Over all if you want to try something that will make you feel like you’re in another country this is the place, and to have the French experiences. Thank you to the chefs, waiters/waitresses, bartender and the bakery server. And the boss can’t forget about him.
We had a truly delightful dining experience. Our server, George—originally from Champagne, France—was both informative and gracious. He took time to walk us through the menu, highlighting the nuances of each dish and what made them distinctly French. We started with the French onion soup and the cheese plate, both of which were rich and satisfying—so much so that we decided to share the beef stew for our main course. For dessert, we indulged in the mini doughnuts and chocolate mousse, both of which were decadent and beautifully presented. The entire evening unfolded at a relaxed, thoughtful pace, lasting nearly two hours and never feeling rushed. It was an authentic and memorable meal from start to finish. Highly recommend!
Had a lovely meal here. Everything was tasty, had the chicken (slightly disappointed they were out of the pork chop with apple cabbage) a side of french fries and the baked apple tart. The chicken was very moist and flavorful, the french fries PERFECT, and the baked apple tart one of the best ever. Surprisingly, once inside, you don’t feel like you’re at a mall location. And Lucca was a fantastic server.
Visiting the area on business and finally got to come here. Lovely restaurant, friendly staff and a great variety of choices on the menu. I had the lobster bisque and the crispy warm goat cheese salad with pine nuts. It was delicious. Finished with a perfect Creme Brulee! I will definitely enjoy this dining experience again on my next visit.
I’ve been here for pastries a few times, and just came to try the sit-down bistro for the first time. WOW. Everything was fresh and delicious, simple yet elevated. The service was wonderful, too. My dad accidentally left his credit card behind, and they got my phone number from my reservation and called us within 2 minutes. The manager (or owner) was also on the floor, very attentive and kind. All of the servers knew their stuff and were friendly and knowledgeable. I can’t wait to go back and try what I didn’t next time, and bring friends!
Nice little pastry shop.. I went for the ladies tea.. it was pretty.. each of us got our own little teapot of our tea of choice and a 3 tier pastry display to share.. I have read reviews where they weren’t allowed to take pics but it’s only if the display pastry’s but once you purchase you can take all the photos you want lol.. it was a cute experience..
We have been buying croissants from Far from France since before they moved to the newer, large location. They are hands-down the best in Wilmington. I am an admittedly tough critic and was so excited for the new restaurant to open! It definitely delivers! It’s hard to decide on a single dish, because they all sound delicious. The classic quiche is an excellent choice. All the crêpes I've had were excellent so I recommend getting one savory and one sweet. The salads are consistently fresh and soups are well-balanced, served the perfect temperature. One complaint, and this is an easy thing to fix, the wait staff is young and seem inexperienced. For example, please don’t touch the top of my glass with your fingers where my lips drink from it to refill it when you’ve clearly been busing other patrons' tables. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself for many years, I can attest to this being a big no no. Hopefully the folks in charge will see this comment and pass it along to the servers and busers. We will definitely be back. Keep up the good work!
Nice place with a pleasant ambiance. The music was enjoyable and not too loud, making it easy to have a conversation. The temperature and air were comfortable as well. We tried the pastries, and they were good. However, there were a few downsides. The coffee wasn't great at all, and there were no non-dairy milk options for the cappuccino, which was disappointing. Additionally, the lack of pricing for the products at the pastry shop and on the menu felt odd and customer-unfriendly. It would be much better if they were more transparent with their prices.
Far From France has some truly excellent dishes, it just depends what you order. The downside is the service. It’s consistently not attentive, and we’ve had to flag down the wait staff every time. Good food, but the experience doesn’t quite match.
I have been in search of a French bakery, and when I found this one, I was ecstatic. The place is adorable, providing a welcoming ambiance, and the food looked delicious. It's a little pricey but made up for with its taste. I can only speak about the peach pastry and the fruit tart that was really good. The staff was polite, but they didn't have a box for my fruit tart and put it in a brown bag, but they could have just ran out. I ate mine in my car and wished I could have practiced some of my French, but as mentioned before, the two items I did have were good. Thumbs 👍
We had a great meal at Far From France. In true French fashion, the dishes are rich and full of dairy (including no alternate milk options for coffee) but tasty and comforting. I absolutely loved my cappuccino and French onion soup but everything else was good as well! Our server was fantastic and checked on us frequently. Really the only major downside that will keep us from coming back more frequently is price. This brunch meal for 2 was about $75. I would still recommend going here for perhaps a special occasion meal though- it is definitely worth it if you can budget it!
The food itself wasn't bad, but I would definitely go back for just the bakery. I got a Nutella croissant, a raspberry croissant, and 3 macarons. The macarons all tasted great, but the croissants were pretty underfilled. The sides on the foods are pretty small. My Dad got the Croque Monsieur, and it said it came with a fruit salad, but when it came, it was in the smallest sauce cup I have ever seen.
Counter lady was friendly. French owner typical archetype of abrasive, obnoxious French shop keeper. Far from France has Delicious desert delicacies imported from France sent frozen. We ordered for seven people and four of the treats were quite cold inside but the three that were not cold were very delicious. The prices are OK and the owner is a bit rude. All in all it’s worth a visit while waiting for a movie at The Pointe at Barclay.
We stopped at the bakery to get some goodies and got a variety of things. Most of the stuff was very good, however, we bought a fruit tart - a couple of bites into it and saw that the raspberries on the tart were moldy. Unfortunately we didn’t notice until a couple of bites in - and it quickly went into the trash. 🤮
I was so looking forward to having brunch here for our 40th anniversary weekend, but I was sorely disappointed. But first the positives. The owners have done a wonderful job with the expansion, although one can reasonably argue it had a little more charm and authenticity when it was smaller. Nonetheless, the decor and spacing of the tables is well thought out. Our server was friendly and professional, and apologized for the slowness of the kitchen that day, but honestly it wasn’t bad at all. We started with the cappuccinos, which was excellent. Probably the best I’ve ever had. My only issue is the portion size was closer to what one might expect for an espresso. I ordered the crab crepe with poached eggs and my husband had the crepe with ham and bacon with eggs over easy. My crepe was barely lukewarm and somewhat dry and the crab was fishy, leaving a weird taste in my mouth. My husband didn’t have any complaints other than a dry crepe also. I would go back, but maybe for a dessert crepe or something else entirely.
I will give them a little of a break since they open only 3 days ago. The first disappointment was that there was no bread served before the meal even though they put bread plates on the table kinda an expectation for a French restaurant. The lobster bisque was thin and had little flavor. Although they were not busy and had only been open for a few days they were out if two of the few entrees they offer. The three of us all ended up with the filet. It was flavorful but they were all cooked well done even though we asked for medium on 2 and medium rare on one. And last, although only about half the restaurant was seated it took an hour for us to get our food. Again, they have only been open for a few days so we will give the another try in a few months to see if things get better but for a $200 meal I expect better.
The ham and cheese croissant was absent ham and cheese…sweet croissant filled with an air pocket and three tiny pieces of diced deli meat…extremely disappointing. Many of the desserts appear to be Costco or US Food items resold not freshly made as expected for a French bakery. The espresso used in the hot latte which can only be ordered from the bar separate from the pastries was tasteless and extremely diluted. Would not recommend.
I gave 3 stars taking into consideration they have only started full service dining for a week. That being said, I’m definitely going to wait a while before going back. I’ll begin by saying all of the wait staff seemed VERY inexperienced. Service was awkward and disjointed. We ordered cocktails and my wife’s signature drink from them was very nice, but my old fashioned was horrible. We did not order appetizers or dessert since we felt that we should get a feel for what they’re about before investing a lot of money on a place. I’m now thinking that was a smart idea. My wife ordered what seemed to be their version of steak au poivre, which was ok. Steak and sauce was unremarkable. I ordered the branzino which was excellent EXCEPT it came with this side of crab and fennel. The crab was delicious, but the fennel was raw, which is fine, but they sliced it very thick so it was hard to eat these big chunks of raw fennel. I’m on the fence with this place.
Today was my first time visiting. I arrived at 2:35pm hoping to order one crepe to go. I spoke with three employees about ordering and only found out the kitchen had closed early after placing my order. Online it says the kitchen closes at 3pm, and since it was about a 25-minute drive for me, I wish there had been an update posted and clearer communication to staff so customers know before coming. I did try the leek and Parmesan pastry from the bakery part. It was just good… not very flavorful or memorable.
Dined outside to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. The indoor dining area is very lovely. I think the patio could use more charm. Food was mediocre. Steaks were over cooked the sides were cold. Bar service was slow (and had to listen to our server complain the entire meal) my drink on the second round was a glass of melted ice. I would like to try brunch or a visit to the bakery but I don’t think I’ll be back for dinner. So many other places in Wilmington to spend 350 on dinner and not be disappointed.
Our experience at Far from France was lackluster and disappointing. From the start, staff were not attentive, even with an excessive number of people (likely due to training). Interactions were rushed throughout our visit with minimal personal exchange. Tables were placed inconveniently, causing both staff and patrons to squeeze through odd spaces and mutter countless ‘excuse me’s’. The tables were also oddly small (sat at a 2-top). Food was very average - though it came out in a good time, there were signs the food sat beneath a warmer for a considerable time prior to serving. We got the escargot and chèvre salad for appetizers: escargot was fine but the salad was underwhelming (could have used more dressing). We chose the King Oyster Scallops for an entree, and though quite tasty (especially the carrot purée), the food was quite tough to chew, primarily the highlighted King Oyster mushrooms. This restaurant has just recently opened for dinner (~a week ago), so I give some grace. However, we were not impressed by many aspects of our dining experience and will only return in a few months, hoping they improve.
Came here for brunch with a couple friends since this place expanded…. do not recommend the restaurant. The server informed us they had the soufflé after she double checked in the kitchen. I even asked again to triple check since the food was taking a while. Finally after about 30 min she came back to inform us they did not have any left. We also ordered the ratatouille which does not include peas in the description on the menu. One of my friends is highly allergic to peas and nuts so we had to send that back. The lemon blueberry crepes did not have any lemon in it. Very disappointing. Since we could not eat 2/3 of our dishes we ordered a smoked salmon sandwich. Unfortunately there was a chunk of chicken salad with almonds on the sandwich… very sloppy. Only saving grace for this place is the macaroons. Their other desserts I’ve tried are bland. Sad because this place has so much potential to be delicious.
Two drinks were $40. Bartender was going to serve a margarita without ice! Eggs Benedict and French toast for brunch came with no sides at all and were $16. Come on!!! If I’m paying that I expect a side dish. Escargot came with no bread or anything and came after the meal when we asked for our appetizer. Eggs Benedict was bland. Been here for dinner and it was good but brunch was terrible!!!
French onion soup was great. We had two different crepes. My wife’s cheese crepe was good but the cheese was not distributed evenly. I had their version of a crab Benedict crepe. The crab was obviously low quality shredded crab out of a can. Hard to even taste. The eggs were underdone. Over all it was flavorless. We had a good time despite the poor quality food.
I love eating at this place but I do want to mention our most recent experience. We decided to join the folks at this restaurant for their Valentine's Day dinner (limited menu, prix fixe $90 per person). We were seated on time, at a nice little table against a wall and were enjoying ourselves very much when a hostess asked us to move out of the way so they could seat other guests in the outdoor seating. Our table was directly in front of the door to the outdoor seating! I asked the waitress if she would ask the manager to relocate us to a different table, as I did not want to get up and move every time the hostess or a waitress entered and returned, not to mention every time a customer went to the restroom. Eventually, I got up from my date with my wife to find the manager and after finding him I asked to be moved. He said it wouldn't be a problem because they were not seating anyone there currently, so I explained again that I didn't want to have to do this later and returned to my seat. Several minutes later, the same hostess stopped at our table again, apologized again but asked me to get up again so they could seat another table of patrons again. I explained I was told I would not have to do that again and asked to speak to the manager again. I explained again that it was inconsiderate to place a table in front of a door and expect a customer to to rise every time another customer needed to come through the door and I again told him if it was going to keep happening we would like to move. He said he would work something out for the customers and it wouldn't happen anymore but as he was leaving he said it would be good exercise though. My wife was offended because I am pretty overweight and she though it was meant as an insult. I asked her to give him the benefit of the doubt and not to be too worried about it because I wasn't going to let a little inconsiderate behavior ruin our night. I am including a photo of where our table was in relation to the door. So, long story short, I loved our waitress, the food, and our wine and drinks. I will probably go back and if our experience is better I will probably increase my rating.
My husband and I have wanted to try this restaurant for awhile. My husband made reservations for the Valentines Dinner to surprise me. They had a prefixed menu with a set price of $90 per person for the evening. We were greeted by the hostess when we came in and sat immediately, at the worst table in the restaurant. It was next to the door of the kitchen where staff were constantly coming in and out. Which in turn due to the tables location, put us in the way of staff trying to serve the other patrons. We had to constantly stand up to allow servers and patrons to get by. When we asked the hostess to be seated elsewhere, she said there was no other seating available. We decided to leave and asked to cancel our reservation. The manager did stop us as we were walking out the door to say there was another table available for us. We decided to stay. Food was subpar at the most. My cauliflower soup was cold and mushroom risotto was dry and flavorless. When we told a waitress (not our server) about the food being cold, she said she would let our server know, which she didn't. We asked to take our dessert to go. I will say, the bottle of wine we ordered was wonderful and felt our server was very attentive. Unfortunately, due to this experience, we will never go back. Edited to add: The desserts were fantastic!
I usually don’t review… but felt I had to. Honestly, this place is way over priced and sub par food. We went for dinner and it wasn’t busy. Took 10 minutes to be greeted. Table and cups were dirty. We’re not offered any bread, had to ask. $30 for a salmon and peas… still hungry. Will not be going back. Way better options in Wilmington. Do better.
With 6 days to go before Thanksgiving I received notification that the reservation I had made with Far From France a month before was cancelled, and that they would in fact not be open on Thanksgiving. They suggested I go to their restaurant some other day of the week!! What kind of high-end restaurant doesn't realize that they're taking reservations on a holiday and then cancels them so close to the day? I called and spoke with the owner, who was neither apologetic or understanding of the difficulty of making a new reservation so close to the holiday. He told me they aren't ever open for holidays. I asked how I would know that, and how they could take a reservation for a day that they weren't open. Again, no explanation, implying that this was my fault for not knowing their schedule. This is the second poor experience I've had with them, after an Anniversary dinner soon after they opened, waiting over an hour for my main course because I put in an appetizer request first, watching people seated after us finish their dinners. The owner told me then that it was our fault, that we should have ordered everything at once, even though the waiter never suggested that. To make up for it he gave us a few dried up macaroons that were probably too old to be sold. Disappointing. I returned recently for a friend's party and had a reasonable experience, and thought that the management had probably worked out their process, so I would give them a try for this holiday. Only to have the reservation cancelled when it's essentially impossible to get another reservation. And again, unapologetically. My suggestion: try Caprice or Brassier instead, two reliable restaurants that understand how important reservations are to their customers.
Highly recommended by a friend. I made reservations for four 10:15am. Service and food was "Far" from what we imagine. Luke warm coffee and espresso, dry tasteless croissants sever offer to exchange however still not worth a mention. I have had better @ PC Java. About five tables being used not busy so you would think customer service would be more attentive with water, etc. Make sure you wear something of warmth air conditioner could and should have been adjusted due to cooler morning. Apple Annie's highly recommended for best croissants and bakery.
Wanted to love this place but…. The pastries lack flavor or freshness. I got the ratatouille the veggies I thought were either frozen or cooked with too much heat as it had zero flavor. Tasted like a watered down vegetable soup. I told them to take it back that how much I didn’t like it. Asked for a Caesar salad and the dressing was made with a strong lemony Caesar dressing. I COULD NOT GET THROUGH IT. My mom didn’t like anything but the quiche which was really good. The server was fine. I did have to get her a few times as she was always in the back of the kitchen. The worst unprofessional part of the experience was when the manager or owner asked us how it was. I told him It was ok the ratatouille tasted like maybe frozen vegetables. He sarcastically laughed and said we are French we don’t do anything frozen but ok whatever. Which I replied well don’t ask if you don’t really want to know and then get snippy when I tell you the honest truth after spend 30$ on bad tasting food. You would think his concern would be to make sure I had a better experience after letting him know we thought it was ok. I grew up with culinary chefs and I also have a garden with plenty of veggies. I know what flavor taste like and therefore I know what is lacking in flavor. This place isn’t worth the experience for the price.
