Probably one of the best meals we’ve ever had! My husband and I went for the first time for my birthday and wow, we loved everything we ordered. I had the beef rib bolognese and coming from an Italian influenced country I felt just like home. My husband had the Smoked Pork chops and he said it was the best pork chops he ever had (and he’s been in multiple amazing restaurants around the country). We definitely want to go back! We super recommend their bread and butter to wait for the food.
Brandon was our server he did a great job explaining everything on the menu. The food we ordered was very delicious, Pascual even commented on the lemon vinaigrette salad dressing. The price was fair for the food we received. I recommend this place it's very nice and very clean. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The food you order you can see in the meat case
True Blue Butcher and Table offers a pleasant dining experience in Wilmington. The restaurant has a modern and clean atmosphere and seems focused on providing good quality food and attentive service.
We had the most amazing flavorful lunch today! Fresh swordfish tacos, pork belly ramen and beef kabobs. Frankie was our server and she was fantastic!!
Ok True is always great! The Duck Hash was on another level! The waffles are delicious I had the Ultimate biscuit, it was yummy. They offered a mimosa flight. Three full glasses of mimosa for only $10! A great deal!
Dry aged strip and dry aged ribeye... very good dry aged flavor. Drinks were nice. Brussel sprouts were tasty but could have been a bit more crispy. The ribeye ordered medium came out way too red and our server Olivia took care of it, and was generally very attentive our entire meal.
Early Father’Day at True Blue with my family was amazing! My youngest Son came to visit with his lovely wife, and my favorite granddaughter. They now live in Greensboro a city known for its great restaurants. They are foodies like their Dad so there was only one choice to for me (they were treating) for our dining experience. I absolutely love True Blue and from the first moment Eli greeted me with an ‘early Happy Father’s Day’. I was first on scene and Tony our waiter who greeted me immediately dealt with all my requests (I literally asked to move twice and this was totally on me trying to strategically place my family ultimately to my favorite spot, but I swear I’m not high maintenance lol) seeing to our needs. I was presented with a Father’s Day card and my Son received one as well. Included were a nice gifts (incredible) and Tony was everything you expect from this caliber of restaurant. Professional, friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and just a perfect host. From the Beef tartar,e, seared scallops, And in my opinion, the best crabcakes anywhere, and my granddaughter proclaimed the Bacon Mac N Cheese ‘the best she had eaten ever’. She is a connoisseur mac & cheese. It was truly a wonderful evening. They honeymooned in Paris and had beef tartare since then and proclaimed incredible.. Admittedly the crabcakes are top of my list but almost everything is. Trish the kitchen manager came by our table recognizing me as one of their regulars, greeted my family as if she were part of the family. There’s so many things I could say about this restaurant, their staff yet they continue to impress. There are so many wonderful memories I’ve had at True Blue but now I can add hosting my My son and his family to an incredible dining experience. Adding to that list a Father’s Day memory ‘breaking bread’ with family’ yet when dining here it’s always with family. Yes, this is one more for the books. Love you guys and thank you! Don A. King
Great happy hour specials at the bar. Love the lobster roll get it almost every time. Nice date spot, has a good environment, and relatively quick service but never make you feel rushed. It is expensive if you go outside of happy hour so we don’t do that as often. It’s in a shopping center so the parking lot can be busy but worth going
Amazing! Better than expected. Unique flavors and presentation. I had the steak frites, bread and butter (actually two thick slices of incredible bread with a savory bread pudding), and the peach creme brulee. Service was attentive but not overbearing. I look forward to visiting again!
Superb! Excellence at every level. The service, the food. Delightful. The best steak in town!! I have heard this several times and now I can finally say it myself. I added a side of Mac & Cheese and that was all she wrote! I had no room for dessert. Returned today to take my friend for her birthday lunch. Still superb. I had outstanding mac and cheese with bacon and she had a great smash burger. Service is always top shelf.
Be prepared to spend a pretty penny, but you're in for a fabulous meal. The cauliflower souffle is like eating a cheesey, peppery cloud. Chef's kiss. The bone marrow bread pudding is literally insane, so delicious! Mac and cheese is banging. Steaks of course are truly excellent, price point is comparable to Ruth's Chris but our local butcher and table is really quite better, imo. Naturally, there's and excellent selection of wines and cocktails. A great spot for a special occasion!
We both had a cheeseburger, it was one of the best I have ever had!
A local recommended this restaurant for our wedding anniversary dinner. This is definitely a high end restaurant, a nice experience and loud atmosphere. I recommend making a reservation. The menu seems like it may be updated and entrees can change. I would definitely recommend this place for special occasions, they also have a butchery and additional goods to purchase from here as well. We got the caesar salad, wine, husband got a ribeye and Brussel sprouts. I was torn on which entree to choose, the server agreed that the yellow curry was very good. I’m so glad I got the curry it was delicious, I wasn’t sure if the vegan version would be enough protein for me and added chicken. The yellow curry by itself definitely doesn’t need anything added.
My new favorite restaurant in Wilmington. The chef and his team are amazing. From the food to the service and the decor. The options of great simple food to the gourmet items. Quality drinks with lots of variety. If you are looking for a simple meal or a fancy dinner, this is your place.
Hubby was craving steak or a burger, so we decided to try somewhere new to us. TBBandT delivered. Our server was fantastic and she made the experience even more fun and fabulous! She also informed us of the other establishments the chef had opened, and now we are excited to try the others. To start we had the focaccia and sourdough combination that is Chef’s choice. The chef sent out the garlic, rosemary and the white chocolate breads and both were delicious. Hubby decided on the Smash burger with frittes. This smash burger was ground with bacon, and his belly was happy. I decided on the choice ribeye and a side of Mac-n-cheese. The steak was perfectly seasoned, tender, juicy and melted in mouth. I could not be any happier. We ended the meal with the crème brûlée and a cappuccino. Let me just say, a tasty ending to our meal. Enjoyable way to spend our day date out in Wilmington.
This steakhouse has to be one of the best in Wilmington and it's surrounding areas, the atmosphere and service is great! The steak cuts, temperature and it's seasoning are wonderful with each bite. I would love to mention Patricia and one of my favorite waiters Tabatha for providing a great dining experience! For the food, I usually go for the Prime 16OZ Ribeye (medium rare), Caesar Salad, and Parmesan Asparagus. Much love, Remington.
True Blue Butcher is an absolute gem. The quality of the meat is outstanding — everything is fresh, beautifully cut, and clearly sourced with care. You can immediately tell this is a place that takes pride in what they offer. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, whether you’re grabbing something quick or looking for recommendations for a specific cut or occasion. They’re happy to answer questions and make great suggestions, which makes the experience feel personal and welcoming. Between the quality, service, and overall atmosphere, this is hands down one of the best butcher shops around. A place I trust and always enjoy coming back to.
We had a party of 7 and True Blue restaurant was the perfect venue for us. The atmosphere was amazing and our waitress Tabitha was very friendly and attentive to our guests. The food was delicious and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Tabitha thank you for everything and we appreciate your hospitality.
This place had very good steaks and appetizers. The best part was the desert which was an olive cake cake vegan. So moist and delicious.
I had dinner here twice this week. It's a short walk away from the Residence Inn. I'd eaten here previously. They had real Wagyu. A5 from Japan. If you've had real Wagyu you know how amazingly good it is. They sell it by the ounce. It is expensive. I checked to see how little I could order and the answer was 2 ounces. I ordered 4 ounces of the strip. It came with a garlic vinegrette sauce. I really savor wagyu when I get it. It is so good. I ordered brussul sprouts as my side. I didn't love them. I liked the sauce but I prefer mine crispy. My second night I ordered the steak frites which came with fries and a salad. It was excellent. Good fries. I had early dinners there by 5 p.m. both nights. I'm sure later than that I'd need a reservation.
My mum and I enjoyed a nice lunch today, first time visiting. We both had salads, definitely recommend the Green Goddess salad and the Caesar, however the Caesar salad is much smaller. She had the Lobster Roll which she said was amazing, loved the roll the lobster came on. I had the Nashville Hot fried chicken sandwich.
The food was amazing, the service was efficient, and the atmosphere was as expected. The perfect place for a perfect steak. Try it; your primal self will thank you.
Delicious food and super friendly staff! We went for brunch and the ultimate biscuit and the French toast were some of the best we’ve ever had!
First time here and the service I received from Emily B was top notch. She suggested the scallop appetizer to me and it did not disappoint. Yes it's a little pricey but I dang near licked the bowl clean it was so good. Got the steak frites and the steak had a fantastic crust on it and the cook on it was a perfect medium as I had ordered. I will be back every time I visit Wilmington. The only slight criticism is that it gets pretty loud inside with a full restaurant.
My husband and I made reservations for dinner for his birthday. I actually thought I had already made reservations and had forgotten so we made these very last minute and were able to get right in. In the short time between when we made the reservation and when we showed up, they had a menu for my husband signed by several staff to tell him happy birthday. Such a great personal touch!! Atmosphere is relaxing and aesthetic. Our server Hannah was amazing. She accurately described the specials for the night (we ordered 2 of the 3). Love that she listed prices with the specials. Throughout the meal we asked her recommendations a few times and she gave great suggestions. She was attentive and even though they were a little busy Hannah checked in us frequently. Food was presented beautifully, everything was delicious, menu was fun, overall we just had an amazing time and will definitely be back!!
This steak is awesome!!! The price is a little bit more than what I would normally spend, but it is well worth it!!! Give it a try, v you won't be disappointed!
Great place. One of our regular restaurant options here on this side of town. Already a great menu option and the meat selection is never a bad choice. They do need to change their bottle water option from Saratoga. It’s one of the lower ranking on water quality on the oasis app. When you’re trying to avoid the Wilmington cape fear water the choice is not any better and now after some of the mitigation measures it may be worst.
One of our favorite places in town!! Consistently excellent and always incredibly accommodating. We leaned today that our favorite dish (the cauliflower soufflé) is no longer on the menu, and the chef told us if we call ahead he can probably take care of us. In addition they told us they’re considering making quarts of it available to cook at home for Thanksgiving and we will absolutely be taking advantage of that! If that sounds good to you please let them know!
Our experience was absolutely second to none! The atmosphere was so welcoming and aesthetically pleasing. The food was some of the best we have ever had- highly recommend the filet with a side of brussel sprouts!! Last, but certainly not least, the service was out of this world. We were treated like royalty and the attention to detail was remarkable. If you plan to visit Wilmington, NC - you must make time for this exemplary culinary experience. True Blue Butcher and Table left a GREAT TASTE in our mouths and a lasting impression in the best way possible. We will be back!
Came here for our Anniversary dinner and Daniel was our server. He was very knowledgeable and nice he recommended some awesome dishes to us along with their holiday drink specials which were great! Trisha also came by to check in on us, I liked how the staff was very involved with your experience here. Top customer service! We will definitely come back again!
We eat here regularly, and it's always wonderful. Great prime steaks, at a reasonable price. The blue claw beranise sauce is a great addition to any steak. As well as the blue cheese fondue. The service is always excellent. It's our favorite place whenever we are in town. McKenzie was great in helping us with a party of 20, it was perfect. They only thing I find a bit tacky, is the additional kitchen staff appreciation fee. I have never seen this on a bill before. Even with being from New York. I find things like this in a higher end restaurant just leave a bit of a bad taste, after a great experience. It's not common. I read the little explanation at the bottom, don't necessarily agree. I would suggest just paying your staff more or adding an extra $1 or so to items. It was chatted about by most in our party in an unfavorable way. Just a meh thing. Looking forward to the next trip! Oh and shout out to the manager on site for her generosity, and ensuring everything was wonderful.
That might have been the best medium rare filet I’ve ever had, perfectly cooked, warm ruby center, beautifully seared crust, fork-tender with rich melt-in-your-mouth flavor. Asparagus sides were crisp and on point as well. I almost skipped this place because of the review prior to mine—glad I didn’t. Traveling for work, no affiliation..
Our family ate there last night and the food was absolutely over the top. The staff were very accommodating and friendly! Highly recommend True Blue! Thank you for making our family outing so wonderful! We will be back!
Went here for a business lunch during the week. Was able to be seated right away. Customer service was great and the food was tasty. I had a burger that was cooked perfectly. I did think it was a bit on the pricey side, but overall was good.
Phenomenal experience from start to finish! Initially we didn’t realize we were not at the location we had a reservation for but Trisha was quick to help us sort it out and had us sitting at the coziest little table within minutes! We were there tonight to celebrate my husband’s birthday and Trisha went out of her way to make us feel special and thought of! The food was BY FAR the best meal I’ve had in years! My husband had the 18oz prime strip and I had the pork chops and I am certain they will be on my mind for days! Our server was very kind and thorough and every single thing we ordered was fresh, hot, and unbelievably delicious! The atmosphere was cozy and not clanky and made for the perfect setting to celebrate my husband’s 45th birthday! We will 100% be a repeat customer and we look forward to returning soon!
Felt compelled to write a review for this restaurant. My wife and I wanted to find a special place to celebrate construction of our new home being complete. Having moved from NJ to NC last year we have been looking for a really good steak house. To date all our experiences have fallen short. True Blue Butcher and Table did not disappoint. Starting with two artfully crafted cocktails, we had the golden caviar that just exploded in our mouths with flavour. We splurged on the A5 Wagyu tenderloin. Without question the finest steak we have ever tasted (even better than wagyu we have eaten in Tokyo). The phrase "melt in your mouth" has never been more accurate. So rich and buttery. We loved the decor and atmosphere. We had a feeling it would be a special place when we read on the menu that they include a 3% charge for the kitchen staff, to ensure they are rightly appreciated. A charge we were more than happy to have included in our check. Thank you for a truly enjoyable evening.
100/10 experience for our Anniversary, so glad we picked here. The Beef and Brussels was to die for, the bread was so worth the $9 leaving us plenty to take home. Both of our steaks were cooked a perfect Medium, main reason im leaving this review is because the Mac n Cheese, we will be back 1000% just because this dish single handily best side in town. The manager was amazing checking on us and even giving us a $20 gift card just because it was our anniversary, literally the perfect dinner thank you.
Such a good experience we came here twice in one week!! Customer service was phenomenal, we loved the ambiance, and our waitress was extra caring. I took a star off because as good as the sides and burgers were, my husband had an overcooked and then undercooked steak in both occasions. They also forgot one of our sides on the last visit. All in all we will be back when we are back in town. Highly recommend at least once. Maybe go when it is not as busy so service doesn’t take too long.
Our server was so very nice and the restaurant felt super classy, I enjoyed it very much. The meats were so thick that it was hard to cut them with their knifes. I did have to return my medium steak after it came out rare but they were very nice about it. The most important part..... THE MAC N CHEESE IS DELICIOUS.... GET IT
Was really excited but very disappointed. We decided to sit outside but it ended up feeling like we were in the parking lot. Steak was cooked perfectly but flavor wasn't great. For $68 I would expect great flavor but was definitely lacking. Waiter took my plate while I was still eating!
Very good steak, however was not hot. Two servers didn’t know what the steaks were on the sampler. Disappointed that it wasn’t served hot. Was luke warm. The lobster in seafood tower was difficult to separate from shell. Also, they use a ribbon shrimp that was spicy. For a $600 dinner for four in NC expected more. Also, note they add a 3% rip for kitchen tip. Never saw that before.
Have had a great experience at B&B but this location not so much. We waited an outrageous amount of time for dinner to arrive. Mine dinner was just ok, husband really loved his meal. Price was way more than it should have been for the entire experience.
Hadn’t been to True Blue in over a year. My wife and I had two true Blue burgers. Both were good. The place is dirty. Base boards around floor were filthy also men’s bathroom smelled like urine and the floor was sticky. Server was super nice. We asked for bill and noticed that they have a 3 percent gratuity for kitchen staff. I was blown away. 22+ for a burger and charge a gratuity for kitchen help. My guess is owners aren’t around much anymore.
Walking into this steakhouse, the ambiance seduces you immediately—a soothing symphony of dim lighting, rustic wood, and the hum of conversation that promises a culinary experience as rich as the room's decor suggests. The front area is a prelude to what one hopes will be an evening of indulgence and delight. But as Anthony Bourdain often discovered, appearances can be deceiving. I settled into my seat, a solo diner ready to explore the depths of this culinary establishment. My order: a $68 New York strip, a 16-ounce prime cut, accompanied by a couple of beers. A hefty tab for one, but in this quest for the perfect steak, price is just a number. When the steak arrived, its presentation was promising. But as Bourdain would say, "The journey is part of the experience." Sadly, this journey took an unexpected detour. The steak, ordered medium rare, met the plate dry and devoid of the succulence one anticipates from a prime cut. It was as if the life had been cooked out of it, a betrayal of its premium promise. The garnishments, too, failed to elevate the dish. They seemed as though they'd been boiled in tap water, lacking the vibrant flavors that should dance alongside a quality steak. It was a meal that whispered of potential but spoke louder of missed opportunities. In the end, it was a meal that left me longing. Not for more, but for what could have been—a reminder that even in the most inviting setting, the true test of a restaurant is the passion it puts on the plate.
Food, service & atmosphere were all decent. My dissatisfaction is with the fact that I paid $13 for a sliver of chocolate cake and was charged $.75 for “kitchen appreciation“, a sneaky, hidden cost, but Ok. What really chapped me was the fact it was included in the amount before taxes were calculated. Perhaps you should pay your employees what they deserve so you don’t have to tack it on to the consumer. And it should not be included in the tax amount of the meal.
Food was mediocre. Ordered a smash burger that was an inch thick. Double checked with the waitress that it was infact a smash burger and she laughed and said idk we call it that. This was during lunch hours which im not sure if management has not trained them on lunch service times but taking over an hour to get in and out is not appropriate timing. Everytime we asked for something she would disappear for 10-15 mins. Atmosphere at lunch is average. Host was also very cold at entrance and never bothered to ask us for a preference of seating.
My husband and I decided to come here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary... My husband said don't worry about the price, don't even look at it. Well women do anyway. It was all al le carte. So we both ordered Chef's choice Ribeye's medium rare and the fried Brussels. For entree. We had a salad and bread for our starters. Which were pretty good. We didn't have any room on our table so we asked to have them put in a to go box. The bread came back in a Ziploc bag.. no joke. Which I guess is smart so it doesn't get hard. But I have never in my life seen that. Anyway we got our $60 steak each only and our al la carter Brussels. The steak I swear was the most toughest steak I ever had. It was medium rare but soooooooo tough. The Brussels were delicious but the steak was awful and chewy.... I could have spent literally a 3rd of the price at Longhorn Steakhouse or Texas Roadhouse and got the most juicy and fallapart melt in your mouth Ribeye. I'm sooooo very disappointed.
The steak was bad quality, that was the first time I have had a fried steak in a fryer. The sides were the only decent part of the meal. Extremely overpriced for the quality. The service was unitive and sloppy. Server and hostess completely ignored my daughter when she said hi or even said thank you. We will come back. I spent almost $200 and was given dirty looks for coming in there.
This was the worst experience ever for a steak night. My whole table ordered medium steaks at $$ high price points and the outcome was rare on all our steaks. These were not $50 - $100 steaks. Y'all sure did get the butcher part right, but the line cooks in the back need better training to ensure the customer gets what they ordered. We sent our steaks back twice and they still came back rare / medium rare. The steaks had little to no flavor and the vinegar sauce that came with the steaks by default was disgusting. It was a slap in our face when the manager dropped off the check with a percentage off of steaks (and not the entire bill) that we barely ate or forced down pieces. I was disgusted and could not take it anymore. The staff should have at least tried to make it right by offering something else on the menu with a comp. I'm sorry but you all need some training on customer service to ensure you do your very best that people leave happy and not disappointed enough to spend time to write a bad review. I feel bad for the server as she did try her best, but her hands were tied due to her superiors.
Management is out of touch and unaware. I originally visited this restaurant for a holiday office dinner. Our party was written as 8 but a few co-workers became ill and we narrowed down to 6. We were greeted with a smiling face by the hostess but when a manager came around the corner and learned of the two missing in our party she immediately scolded us for OUR lack of respect. Unfortunately our group didn’t know of these changes until 30 minutes prior to our reservation. The tone and delivery was completely unprofessional and quite embarrassing considering we are giving our money to your business but I’ll digress to a more relevant experience. A few days ago I dined here for my 41st birthday dinner, I enjoyed the food last time and assumed it was a bad first impression. It was busy as it was Friday night, which is to be expected. From my observation, as chaos insued around me, servers running around and hostess overwhelmed to catch up. I saw management blissfully greeting tables, holding extended conversations with guest completely oblivious to the struggling team behind them. As someone who’s worked in the industry myself, I know a good establishment when I see how they treat their employees. This place was mediocre at best. Considering the prices, I’d spend your dining dollars elsewhere. These managers aren’t communicating with their staff, smiling to guest while turning around and scowling at young, impressionable staff who hold this business afloat. It’s unbearable to watch mistreatment and enjoy a meal. The icing on the cake was being greeted by the same woman who scolded my company on my first visit. Strange to see the attitude change with a different group. Ethically, every customer should be treated with the same “sophisticated” service you preach. That’s not a new concept for the service industry. My advice to management, thank your hard working staff and leave your ego at the door. Lend a helping hand when your team is falling apart in front of customers. Our server whom I unfortunately didn’t catch her name was outstanding. Which is fortunate considering this businesses lack of authority. My second visit and still underwhelmed. I love to support local chains but I will not be returning.
