The best japonese food in NY. Excellent quality and service. Waiting for over an hour to be seated is understood. 👏👏
Best AYCE around. Dinner menu is exceptional but lunch is a little limited (but a GREAT price). Idk how staff is assigned if they're given tables or not but it can be hard to flag them down. However they are always nice and courteous. I absolutely love sushi and it is so great. The best way to do it is to pace yourself. A lot of the premium rolls would be $20 each if you ordered regularly so you definitely get your money's worth. You can also request substitutions or removing an ingredient just by crossing it off with the dry erase marker. This is helpful for me because I hate cream cheese in sushi. They also have a lot of seating options. If you're going with kids I would check out the noodles and fried rice options. For dinner there are also some meal options. Honestly every time I go there I see a lot of businessmen so probably a great place to do deals or whatever business men do.
The personnel was very courteous, super attentive. The place is spotless. One could eat off the floor, easily. I sat by the bar, and could see how amazing the "artists" prepared the food. The efficiency and how everyone flowed was cool to watch. Orders were being dispatched left and right. Everything I ordered was made on the spot. Everything was delicious. I will definitely be back, and spread the word about this place. Definitely a Baaaaang for your buck. Shouts out to Selina working at the bar.
The food was delicious and affordable. The staff was friendly and would definitely recommend the all you can eat option.
Not the best sushi ever but it’s surprisingly decent enough and well worth the price.
The only dining option is all-you-can-eat. You pay the flat rate and choose off the menu want you want. You can order multiple times, and it includes everything. Great place for groups, sharing plates, and trying new dishes. Make reservations because it was a packed dining room on a Friday night.
First place that I've been to in Albany that has amazing food. I don't even like sushi but I tried a spicy roll and I absolutely loved it. I even went there twice in the same week. Cocktails were amazing as well. Needless to say I'll be back.
We came for an early Friday happy hour dinner and I'm so glad we got there early and had a reservation. We were seated immediately, but there was a line out the door by the time we left. The service was very prompt. I liked how you use a menu with a dry erase marker for ordering. Everything was as expected. We would definitely come back.
I would give this a 5 star review based on the overall experience. The service is very high as they're efficient and pleasant. The atmosphere is nice in style and comfort but it can be somewhat loud. The food is probably 4* but the AYCE aspect bumps it up. Would definitely recommend.
My fiancé and I drove by and the sign caught our eye. We stopped in on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised by the unique all you can eat style service. Plenty of vegan/vegetarian options and the customer service is top notch! Both times we have eaten here we have sat at the bar where we have received friendly and super fast service! Highly recommend trying this place out for a nice date night or a full party with friends!
Has to be one of the best sushi locations in the Albany Region. None can compare to this restaurant in terms of service and food options. Quality and food heavily exceeds my expectations. As an AYCE sushi enjoyer, this one takes the top place. Amazing tasting appetizers and sushi, also chef makes amazing udon & variety fried rice. One of the FEW AYCE spots that allow you to order sashimi. Make sure to make a reserve because it can be crowded!
Superb dining experience. From the moment you sit down you are immediately greeted and offered drinks. The staff is exceptional! You can’t even finish writing on the sheet prior to them peaking and starting to grab you the appetizers or soups. Pricing was great and quality was phenomenal. We visit from Florida and this restaurant will become a regular destination for us moving forward. Great food, great prices and great staff. Phenomenal dining experience
I love me some all-you-can-eat sushi! My friend and I got there pretty close to dinner opening time at 4:30 and were seated right away. I really liked that the menu's are laminated so you can use a dry erase marker and keep reusing vs filling out paper and throwing it away every time like Sushi-X. It was a combined effort of wait staff and they were good at telling when we needed/wanted more and when to give us time to enjoy our food. We ordered a round of appetizers including the shumai, coconut shrimp, rock shrimp, scallion pancakes, kani salad, a few pieces of sashimi, spring rolls, snapper jalapeno and mango salmon. For rolls, we just stuck to the special rolls and everything was fresh and tasty and came out promptly. I already can't wait to go back!
Great food and staff. My chief complaint was the bathroom. With only having 2 stalls, it is already small for how busy the restaurant became. 1 of the 2 stalls was out of order. After mentioning this to a staff member, i went back to my table. Upon using the restroom before leaving, now both stalls where out of toilet paper and when i mentioned this to staff, i was laughed at, as if toilet paper is optional. Didnt love that.
The food variety is great, and the all-you-can-eat option is ideal for Japanese cuisine. Even a couple of hours after the meal, you won’t feel overly full.
Great new location for Wasabi sushi in Albany, NY. Located right on Wolf road near I-87. Very clean, great decor and ambiance, and the best service of any AYCE sushi in the capital district. Definitely an improvement over nearby sushi X and Blowfish. Price is on par with other premium sushi chains in the area. Would 10/10 recommend for a great sushi experience in the greater Albany area - proper ratio of seafood to rice in all rolls, fresh and delicious sashimi, and a plethora of appetizing appetizers;) Rivals even some of the premium sushi restaurants in NYC.
We went for my fiancé's birthday. They do a free meal for them. It was busy. It's all you can eat,but not a buffet -you choose your items on a menu that you keep and check off the quantity. I liked it. I didnt overeat!.lol Food was great and staff was very friendly.
If you haven't been here yet you are missing out. One of our favorite places to eat. I love the sashimi and so many of the apps. My friends and I try different drinks when we go and have never been disappointed. Update: years later and my original review still stands. Still one of my favorite places to eat. We love to celebrate any occasion here and they handle large parties very well.
Our first time dining here we accidentally ordered two of each roll (which we definitely couldn't finish). Instead of charging us for all of the leftover rolls, they packaged them up for us to take home free of charge. The manager and staff are all extremely helpful and very friendly. Would highly recommend coming here!
This is One of the best Sushi 🍣 I ever had and they treated me and My Family very well on My birthday 💯
Highly recommend for so many reasons! The service was outstanding, everything was served at lightening speed! The variety of offerings was bar none, so many unique specialty rolls to try amongst so many other things additionally. I was dining with a sushi aficionado straight out of NYC and even HE preferred this place over most (if not all) of the NYC offerings. The hospitality was exquisite as well! The gentleman-host/owner-was so warm and welcoming and made us feel as if we were dining at his kitchen table which is not a feeling you typically get when going out for sushi. Definitely telling all my family and friends about this new Albany gem!🍣
Food is absolutely amazing— fresh and delicious! The sushi rolls and hot items were great. We came on an extremely packed night and the staff was incredibly kind and friendly. There were so many people, yet they were so sweet to us and our children and also incredibly attentive despite how busy it was. My children also commented how really nice the wait staff was. Prices are very reasonable. We loved it and will definitely come again.
My husband took me here for Mother's Day this year. It was our first time here, we weren't quite sure what to expect, as we are not very familiar with all the different types of sushi and tempura everyone was very knowledgeable and helpful when answering our questions. The staff was super polite. The restaurant was very clean, everyone was very accommodating. **THE FOOD WAS EXTREMELY FRESH AND DELICIOUS 😋!! We have already been back two more times! Highly recommended!!
2022 update: Quality was good again for sashimi. Service was chaotic and sometimes missed stuff on the order but it's still all you can eat, we got it the next round. Very busy place, do not go here if you want to hear anyone talking to you, it's louder than a bar. The spicy tuna is weird (color of flaming hot Cheetos) and the crab rangoon is unfathomably sweet (not my cup of tea) but the white tuna sashimi app, peppered tuna are where it's at! Love the new purple fries too. Would go back but I hope the quality maintains this time and is less in flux. . Update: sashimi quality has gone down, as has the flavors of some appetizers (crab rangoons were sweeter and less meaty, chicken katsu was rubbery, and the mango they used in their sushi was all incredibly overripe and sweet). I'm not sure we'll be back for the price point. I think that sourcing difficulties might be hitting this restaurant as it was much better on our last visit. So sad. . The ambiance is bright, clean, & inviting, the tea is authentically delicious, the menu is extensive, and the portion sizes are perfect. The sashimi quality is also still decent, especially for a buffet! We will absolutely be back. Pro tip: it's free on your birthday.
I've been here several times, It's a decent price for all you can eat sushi, and you can get to eat free on your birthday(remember bring your id) staff was very friendly and thoughtful in their service. The food is fresh and tastes amazing! They do serve alcohol, and have a pretty nice cocktail menu. So I question any poor reviews posted about this place. Anyway i will definitely be back!
The food here was absolutely delicious! My husband got all you can eat sushi for free on his bday and he said it was phenomenal! I am not a fan of sushi and there were so many yummy options for me! The service was so friendly and responsive! The atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing! We loved it!
Fantastic. I've been here twice, once for my mom's birthday and now today for mine and yes you get to eat for free on your birthday! I reccomend coming during lunch time as it's slower, 5-9pm are gonna be a lot busier and most likely require a reservation. Service is fast especially if you sit at the bar and food is amazing. Everyone is happily willing to help you with any questions you have and the fish are adorable! 🐠
Like the other location I Saratoga, it's great, if a little busy (on Friday night, at least). But the quality of fish and other food is absolutely top notch.
Super tasty and quality sushi for all you can eat! The value is great ($25/person) and you can order anything off the menu. They've got everything from yakitori (Japanese meat skewers) to sashimi to sushi rolls to fried rice/noodles and they have specialty sushi rolls as well. The inside was super clean, the staff were super attentive, and most importantly the food was delicious. Now that I've been here I can say that it is one of my favourite sushi spots in Albany (plus who doesn't love all you can eat)!
Food and service were exceptional, one of my favorite all you can eat sushi places. Top tier sushi in general.
Absolutely the best all you can eat sushi you can find in the United States! The food and service were fantastic. It was well worth the almost 4 hour drive to get there from Rochester, NH. I look forward to eating there again the next time I am on the east coast.
Went for my son's birthday and really enjoyed it. I've been to the one in Saratoga and it wasn't run nearly as well. Food was great, came out fast, service was excellent. Definitely recommend.
We were invited to a birthday dinner here once and got hooked on the fun and lively atmosphere. If it’s your birthday you eat free and they serve you an ice cream dessert with a candle to make a wish. Wasabi is an all you can eat sushi restaurant and you definitely get your money’s worth. The menu has all kinds of food options so there is something for everyone even gluten free and vegan rolls are available. You can request tamari a gf soy sauce for sushi 🍣 and sashimi. You must eat what you order or be charged more so pace yourself. We had beautiful salmon sashimi slices and tried a salmon hand roll as we love dried seaweed. The spicy roll was delicious and the chef took off the crunch for me so it was gf. Highly recommend going here for a fun time with friends & family.
A great place for dinner regardless of the size of your party. They accommodate everyone. There’s a bar as well. They offer all you can eat buffets ($30-40) and have a wide variety of sushi, sashimi, and other sea food. You can order as many rolls of a specific sushi as you want and top it off with mochi ice cream. Reservations are recommended especially on weekends and other busy nights. Service is also great. Definitely a place to check out with friends or family if you’re in the capital area.
Really clean and fresh environment. Prompt and friendly service. I walked in thinking I would order 2 rolls for 30$ at least and it was all you can eat for 18.50$. The food was delicious. I got miso soup, seaweed salad, calamari and crab Rangoon, the spicy crab roll and speciality roll- 195 wolf roll. I thought the portion sizes were perfect. So glad I chose here over other sushi places in Albany. Will definitely go again with friends. Definitely recommend.
Although I’m not your traditional raw fish/sushi person, this place offers plenty alternatives- soups and salads; appetizers; fried rice; stir fry noodles; Japanese’s bbq; hand rolls and specialty rolls. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming; the staff were extremely attentive and friendly; and lastly, the food was excellent with an amazing presentation. I was told you can request the dinner menu at lunch time, which offers a wider selection. Reasonably priced for all that you get. Will definitely be back.
We absolutely love this place — this was probably our 8th visit, and it never disappoints! We came on Saturday with a reservation for 6, and it was packed with a line out the door. Even though it was busy, we were never forgotten — the staff kept checking in and making sure we had everything we needed. Everyone was amazing! The service was fantastic and the food was just as delicious as always. Everything came out fresh, perfectly made, and the team handled the crowd like pros. The atmosphere was lively — the music was a little louder than I prefer, but nothing to complain about. Easily one of our favorite spots in town!
Wasabi All You Can Eat Sushi on Wolf Road is hands down one of the best sushi spots in Albany! The quality of the fish is always fresh, the rolls are perfectly made, and the variety on the all-you-can-eat menu is amazing — from creative specialty rolls to delicious appetizers and desserts. The service is quick and friendly, and everything comes out beautifully presented and fresh every time. The restaurant itself is clean, cozy, and great for both casual dinners and special occasions. Definitely one of my go-to spots whenever I’m craving sushi in the area!
If you’re a sushi lover, this place is a dream come true. The all-you-can-eat menu is packed with variety, and the quality honestly blew me away. Fresh fish, perfectly seasoned rice, and creative rolls that kept coming out looking (and tasting) like they belonged in a high-end restaurant. Every bite was better than the last—from classic salmon and tuna nigiri to specialty rolls loaded with spicy crab, creamy avocado, and just the right amount of crunch. The portions were generous, but everything was so good it was impossible to stop ordering “just one more.” What really made the experience stand out was the service. Friendly, fast, and they kept the sushi coming without ever making us feel rushed. Plus, the atmosphere was cozy but modern—perfect for hanging out, laughing, and slowly eating way more than you planned. 10/10 recommend. If you’re looking for fresh, delicious sushi where you can eat until you’re happily stuffed, this is the spot. Trust me—you’ll be dreaming about it after.
We went last night for my boyfriend’s birthday and the experience was great! It was busy when we got there, but they had a few seats open at the bar area. The server explained the whole process since it was our first time there, and we were able to watch the chefs at the sushi bar. Our food came out quick and it was some of the best sushi/special rolls we have had since moving to the area! We had a great experience and we will definitely be back! ☺️
All you can eat sushi. Can't tell what's what when the food is brought out. Food is decent.
As always food was very good. Waitress was very short with interaction. Music was louder today than I have ever had before. These two reasons are 4 star for the service and atmosphere.
Food’s great. Drinks are even better. Get a reservation ahead of time otherwise you might be stuck outside >30 minutes waiting for a table at peak times. It’s “All you can eat” free for someone celebrating their birthday. You do have the show Id proof. They’ve messed up our order a few times but the quality of food makes up for it. Overall a great place to go for big groups!
The food was delicious, but the service was impersonal. One item never arrived so we had to ask for it. They questioned me about it, like it’s not all you can eat………….We also had to ask for refills and the check.
Loved the food and concept of all you can eat sushi and other Japanese food. Things seemed a bit hectic. There was a little too much noise that it seemed that staff was mumbling.
**If my review is helpful, please click on the "LIKE" button...thank you!** If you like sushi, this is the place to go! And yes, it really is all-you-can-eat! The menu is pretty extensive, and the great thing is that you can just order one of each item, so that you can sample a broad variety of food. For those who are so inclined, they do serve alcohol, and have a pretty nice cocktail menu. It was crowded when we went on a Friday around 6, and we had to wait about 10 minutes for a party of 2. On a Thursday at 6, there was no wait. Easy in and out from Wolf Road, and there's good parking.
Fun place with delicious food. I'm not sure that I ever got all that I ordered as the deliver of the ordered food, in a party of 6, was erratic at best. Fortunately, there was a lot of sharing happening, so nobody went away hungry.
Interesting take on all you can eat. It might be that I was in a large group, but parts of the meals were missed. I enjoyed that there weren't any "splash guard type all you can eat", and the fact that they are food conscious.
Nice and clean, great staff, good value for the price. Good food and eat free on your birthday! My son already planning to go back.
Great food, great pricing. Staff was great. Service was still speedy considering how busy it was. I enjoyed the smoked salmon, fish overload roll, and many more!
Pretty solid Ayce experience! Got there when it's dinner rush! The whole restaurant was packed. The wait time was supposed to be 20 mins as I put my name down. But they came to us and asked if we wanted to sit at the bar in 10 mins. It was great sitting at the bar with a big tv and watching the sushi chef worked their magic. I know why they can make their sushi nigiri and sashimi in such a quick pace serving so many ppl! They have a system there! All the fish has already pre cut to the pieces for sashimi and sushi except the maki rolls! I saw them assembling the nigiri and hand rolls... Our server was attentive and nice! Ordered a few appetizers like hamachi ponzu and sear tuna! Hamachi tasted fresh and delicious. Seared tuna has nice texture to it but a little too spicy to my liking. Hand rolls with spicy scallops and yellowtails were both nice. Seaweed quality was just ok... not the best. Best roll was the shrimp tempura! Some of the rolls were too saucy! Can't taste the fish and ingredients! Overall the menu has so much variety , from appetizers, sushi/ small and big special rolls to hot food like udon and fried rice... Come hungry and get your money worth!!! Quality of the food is B Service is fast and efficient
Summary: food is passable. Would rate it a 3 or 3.5, bumping up to 4 because it is AYCE and I received reasonably responsive service. I would not consider it "authentic". Pros: + Selection at lunch is reasonable + Hot apps appeared to be cooked to order and came out quickly + Staff were prompt and polite + Yakitori-esque items are less common in the Capital region Cons: - Sushi is very light on the seafood - Rice was an odd combination of chalky and slightly gummy, like it was made too far ahead of time and refrigerated - Minced fish and "crunch" is always a little bit of a red flag for me Interior shows age with worn menus, tables, and seating. I did not get drinks. I sampled various items: miso soup, age tofu, chicken and squid yakitori, hand rolls (including spicy shrimp), a spider roll, and nigirizushi (salmon, tuna, spicy salmon, shrimp, red snapper, masago, "tofu skin" - their version of inari, and egg cake). The place was busy for a Wednesday lunch (12:30-1:15), but I was seated immediately. Good staff coverage kept things moving efficiently. Unfortunately, all yakitori items and the fried tofu used the same sauce. The grilled items were also dusted liberally with Japanese red pepper. With too much of the same sauce and shichimi, they had no personality. The single portion of squid was large, but just small chunks on a plate. The tofu was disappointing - just skillfully-fried tofu chunks with sweetish sauce instead of the bright, refreshing appetizer it should be (no green garnish, dashi or grated daikon). The sushi tasted good and was plated nicely. Service was quick and logical. The nigiri had a poor rice-to-topping ratio due to thin-cut fish, and portions were small - understandable given the AYCE format. Apologies for the used chopsticks, but you can see size and topping thickness in one of my attached photos. The rice texture was dense, and the spider roll seemed more fried coating than actual crab. Hand rolls were better options, though options that relied too much on minced ingredients with added "crunch" were low-lights. The tamago was better than some local places - does not appear to be freshly made, but decent. Nothing was 'bad,' but adhering more to traditional preparation methods would elevate their food from passable to truly good. After trying lunch, I'm still curious about their dinner menu, but probably won't return often as I prefer more authentic Japanese cuisine with specific ingredient or flavor contrasts and more involved execution. For me, Japanese food is about elevating the ingredients with simplicity and understated flourishes - and Wasabi doesn't check that specific box. I think some extra care or attention from the chefs could punch up their food. Perhaps dinner offers a better experience! That said, this could be a good casual izakaya-esque option with friends - I'd totally be into more items in this category given that it's basically nonexistent around here. Despite my critique, I left satisfied overall (hence the 4-star rating). For AYCE sushi, this place offers reasonable value considering the format and price point challenges. Thanks for taking care of me!
I ended up eating here 2 days in a row as I was leaving the country and my local friends love this place. There were lots of inconsistencies in quality and portion sizes between the 2 nights that caused an additional charge at the end of the night. I am not convinced this is a fair practice. I did enjoy the experience, but would suggest to the owners to set portion expectations and stick to it.
Been here a few times just never have done a review so let’s fix that :) Wasabi is a really chilled atmosphere. There is an older gentleman that is one of the main servers who is always so polite. The food is good. I always seem to find myself ordering the Sashimi and whenever I do, it’s fresh and tasty. The sushi rolls are very good as well. There is a variety to choose from so everyone in your party will be able to get whatever suits their taste. As I said, we have been here many times prior and we will surely make a return visit. Enjoy 🍱🍣
Our waitress, she said her name was Wendy, was rude. The food was great, other waiters/waitress were friendly. That specific waitress, I wouldn't want to encounter again.
I ordered rolls and they made me hand rolls. Foods were OK. Don't order those fries shrimp. Shrimp was tiny with a lot of breading.
They kept me waiting for too long :( Very busy on a random Thursday but they are very short staffed. I was seated at the bar and the poor guy had to make all drinks and take multiple people’s orders. When eating at the Saratoga Wasabi, the menu/empty dishes usually gets collected immediately after. However, I waited five minutes to get greeted and then around ten minutes for the server to collect the menu and put my order in every time! Given the nature of all you can eat sushi, it’s probably hard to make the money you spend here worth it due to the long wait times. I guess I just expected less waiting and better service because I often waited less and had better service at Saratoga wasabi lol
This is an all you can eat Sushi restaurant. We only went here for my wife's birthday because her meal was free. Most of the sushi items I tried were just marginal at best. A few were really good. The spicy California roll and the Rollin upstream was good. The Samurai Japanese restaurant down the road has better sushi and better quality food.
We went to this place on my daughter’s 27th birthday. I was really impressed with how clean it is and well designed. Tables are not too close together, prices are fair. Food was absolutely reasonably priced and tasted really good. The staff, however, either didn’t understand English really well, or didn’t CARE to understand English really well. They all barely spoke (except for one white dude who was actually a nice guy). They staggered bringing out the food so that we weren’t all eating at the same time. My youngest son and I had a salad and appetizer each before the birthday girl ate even one piece of food. It’s all you can eat, but our second round of food didn’t come around until 45 minutes later. It isn’t like they even refilled my soda or my kids drinks. We just sat there and made small talk for what seemed like eternity. If I had to guess, I’d say that the poor service was deliberate. The prices were really good for all you can eat. I am sure it was to discourage people from eating until they burst. Really strange experience. Not sure I would go again, but not really sure I wouldn’t go either. Maybe if I didn’t have anything planned for the rest of the day I might go for lunch.
Very good food, excellent variety of choices. Many selections are prepared in sweeter-than-expected sauces which detract from the flavors of the main ingredients. Although we had some superb fish, squid and octopus, a large number of other menu choices depend on fake crab and other factory-processed substitutes for real seafood.
As someone who's dined here multiple times and generally enjoyed the fresh flavors (especially the sashimi) and reasonable pricing, I'm conflicted to share this experience. Unfortunately, my latest visit left me severely ill – I developed intense stomach cramps shortly after the meal, requiring urgent restroom visits both at the restaurant and later at the mall. The discomfort persisted into the next day. While I can't definitively pinpoint the cause (whether it was the raw fish, water, or something else), this was a stark departure from my previous visits. I sincerely hope this was an isolated incident rather than an ongoing food safety issue. The kitchen might want to double-check their ingredient sourcing and handling protocols. A minor critique unrelated to the food: The bustling atmosphere, while a testament to their popularity, does create significant ambient noise. During peak hours, you'll need to lean in closely to hear dining companions – perhaps some space optimization or acoustic adjustments could enhance the experience. The taste keeps me coming back, but this episode has made me hesitant. Proceed with caution if you're sensitive to raw items or prefer quieter environments.
Went here to eat on the evening of 09/12/2025 with 4 others, 5 people total at the table. As of 09/14/2025, 4 of the 5 people at the table have come down with a form of viral food poisoning, (norovirus.) I won't be back.
Ordered chicken fried rice and beef noodles to go 45 minutes before they closed. Both dishes had no meat in either. What a rip off. If they were out of chicken and beef, they could have said so. Didn't want to go all the way back. ****UPDATE: Dear owner who replied to my review, I appreciate the acknowledgement. However, if you look at my transaction, I paid cash for this take out order. There is no credit card to refund to. The chicken skewers were perfect, just the chicken fried rice and the beef fried rice were void of meat in each.
Have frequented this establishment with friends often. Came for a birthday today, and waited fifteen minutes for a table when we had called ahead with a reservation. Then was charged $62.19 for tip, when very clearly the menu states 18% gratuity. They charged me 20%, and then someone had the audacity to claim it was because “we charged gratuity for the birthday person as well.” Untrue, as shown by my calculations. Be very careful coming here. Oftentimes will also give you rolls or food you do not ask for. Incredibly disappointed in management. Will not be returning.
