Opinions de Kuma Ani Albany
The servers were so caring and went above and beyond. I felt welcome and catered to. The food was soo good!!! This was the first time we have been to kuma ani. My husband loved the food as well. WONDERFUL customer service and a great atmosphere!!! Thank you 🙏 Will def come again!
I've been here a few times for sit down and take out. Each time has been great. Very good flavor to the broth as well as the option to sub in Udon noodles. I love that I can pick exactly what I want in my ramen and am not forced to a set menu like some other places around. A nice attention to detail is when you get takeout they separate the broth and noodles for you. Definitely a must try
Stopped while passing through. Service was quick and friendly. We had some fantastic ramen. Broth was excellent, condiments were very well prepared. Flavors and blend of spices was amazing. Prices are very reasonable. Was a very short detour but we’d make a point to come back here again.
This is my son's favorite restaurant, and we love coming here. The staff are very friendly. Everything we have ordered from the menu is delicious, AND it is so cool that you can customize your ramen order with the DIY option. We just went there this evening and really enjoyed our meal.
My favorite ramen place in the area. It's got great vegetarian and vegan options and the ability to build your own ramen is great. The staff is great, and very accommodating.
An amazing ramen shop. Feels authentic and the food is perfection in a bowl. Prices are reasonable, with a custom bowl starting at $12 and rising depending on toppings added. Spice levels are accurate for someone acquainted with spicy foods, but if you are a lightweight when it comes to spice it may be best to keep it at a 0 or 1. Topping selection is great, the meats are excellent, and the marinated eggs are the best I've seen, absolutely delicious. I will be a repeat customer as long as the doors are open and I'm in the area. Thank you for the food!
Hi! We visited the Wolf Rd. KUMA Ani on April 20, 2024. We had an amazing experience. The staff was beyond friendly & helpful. They went above & beyond explaining the menu to us & when it was time for us to leave they even gave us 2 containers of ice to help our leftovers stay cold & safe for our travel back to Vermont. We highly recommend this Kuma Ani. The food was hot & nicely plated. The establishment was very clean, restroom too! This was a special trip for my granddaughter, her mom, me, (grandma) and my daughter. Go have a great dining experience!
I'm a Ramen newbie but thought it was excellent.
Amazing place! Everyone is extremely friendly and will explain any dish if you have questions. Now the food.. absolutely spot on! I’ve tried the soup and the cheese mein and my friend had another item off the menu. Meat was sooo tender that it just melt in my mouth, was super impressed!
I've seen this place on Wolf Road all the times I go up to the nearby BOCES for education training. I'm very glad I did. My only regret was being unable to dine in, because I really liked the ambiance. I didn't have time for it, so I ordered out. The food was delicious, and I'll definitely order it again!
Kuma ani is a great place to eat if you like Ramen or Don bowls. They also have appetizers and another kind of bowl that I haven't tried yet but I plan on going back in the near future to order. Their prices are in range of typical bowl style restaurants which for some can seem a little on the expensive side but if you go to other similar places you'll notice the price is about the same. As for the food the Ramen and Don bowl we had were both delicious. The Don bowl had Bacon and beef with bean sprouts, rice, cucumber, and a sauce that was flavorful. The ramen bowl was pretty standard but with marinated egg and no fish cakes but very good flavor. They had options for spicy paste and powder you could add after the food was made which was nice to be able to add to taste. We also ordered the chicken wings with sweet chili sauce which were very good as well. Ordering ramen here reminds me of another ramen spot that is one of my favorite places to order from when I am in the area. Overall very delicious and definitely worth trying the food if you haven't been to a ramen place before.
This was my third visit to Kumi Ani on Wolf Rd and it has not disappointed me yet. All I can say is wow, it's definitely asian food for the soul. Of course I made my own ramen bowl and it was amazing!!! The seasonings and spice are delicious and the vegetables are fresh and packed full of flavor. I do recommend getting the marinated egg, it definitely elevates the dish. This is my new favorite place. The staff are helpful and service is quick. There is not much seating, especially for a large group but it's worth dinning it.
Amazing ramen. Got the Ultimate Tonkatsu ramen bowl. Very special care is taken to make sure all the flavors properly mingle. As far as I can tell, they used fresh noodles in the preparation as well. The star of the show was the broth, which as ramen lovers the world over know, will make or break your ramen experience. Friendly staff, good drink choices, will definitely come back if I ever end up out here again
This is a STAR ⭐ of Colonie. You love ramen? This is the place. You love crunchy moist and meaty wings? Their Korean wings are THE BEST. No joke; they are competitive in price with better quality.
This is one of my favorite fast casual restaurants in the area. The staff is courteous and helpful, whether you order in person or on the phone. In addition, I have never been disappointed by the food. It always comes out hot and correct if you eat there, and they are incredibly conscious when packing to-go orders, as the food travels well and is sealed tightly, which is especially important with the ramen. The team here keeps the dining areas and facilities clean, and the open kitchen is spotless. The only downside to this location is the size of the space, which leaves few tables, especially during peak hours. However, they are efficient and keep everything moving along. I have never been disappointed by this location, and I am excited for my next visit!
So delicious and the workers are super nice! I always get the curry chicken ramen and it’s so good every single time! My favorite place to eat out with friends!
I will start this review by saying that I have been to Japan and I have had ramen in Japan and it was awesome. Since then I've been on a quest to find good ramen near home. The quest has now ended. That is not to say that this is the same as ramen in Japan I think that this is Americanized, which is kind of necessary considering the expectations of the customers and the quality of the meat here compared to in Japan. The service was excellent, the food was quite quick, and the food itself was excellent. I really liked the pork buns. The ramen itself had a little too much meat and not enough vegetables for what I was looking for, but I will do a build my own next time to get closer to what I'm looking for. The broth is absolutely phenomenal and very similar to what I had in Japan. I love the fact that I can change the spiciness on the ramen.
Wow. Awesome ramen! Perfectly balanced umami, heat, sweet, sour and salt. As good as it looks you won't be disappointed! Went back for a second time and it was just as good. Duplicating an initial success is sometimes the hardest! They offer thoughtfully curated alcohol selections also:)
I’m addicted to this place. The atmosphere is cozy, unique and cool. The staff is always extremely kind and helpful. And the ramen is the best I’ve ever had.
Best restaurant in the capital region! Everything I've tried is beyond tasty. The atmosphere is laid back, and the owner is an absolute delight. He actually gave me a free sample of a new potential summer dish they're contemplating on releasing, and of course, it was a slap. I wish I had taken a photo, but I got to it before I it even crossed my mind. My usual go-to is the Gyudon.
Place has reasonably priced ramen for its quality. Only had the basic tonkotsu ramen and butadon, but for the price, it's really good at being consistently tasty. IMO, it's more on the side of chinese noodle soup than authentic Japanese ramen (kinda the same tbh), but putting that aside, my favorite thing about their food is the tonkotsu-shoyu broth and their crisp char-sui slices. It's perfect. Lunch time is generally busy. Great atmosphere, open space. Karaage is so-so, but I didn't really come for their karaage. Pictures are Butadon (char-siu rice bowl), Karaage with side sauce, and two pics of tonkotsu ramen. Parking is plenty.
Def recommend and will be back!!! The restaurant is cozy and very pretty:) the food was really delicious too, I got butadon and my friends got ramen, it was priced fairly and is delicious :) I would say they don’t give enough meat for the butadon at least, might just be that dish, not sure because I’ve only been once. They have a nice variety of pre packaged drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Pretty fast too, took maybe 10-15 min for food to be ready:)
I’ve been several times to this ramen restaurant and I have to congratulate the owners and workers for their excellent consistency. I’ve never been disappointed with their food or service. I like to get the fried chicken Dunburi and or the spicy Ramen. They are both great. That’s why I always struggle to choose what to eat when I go. They also offer a variety of Japanese sodas and beer. If you choose to eat at the restaurant they will bring the food to the table and when you are done, you must take care of your leftovers/plate/utensils by leaving them in the designated area, sort of like one does at fast food places.
Delicious, fresh Raman noodle bowl. Many options, choose level 3 of 5 for spiciness, and it was very spicy. Staff was very friendly.
Me and my friend went in with low expectations. He already ate there before early this year and didnt like it. Mosu is in the same plaza and apparently locals have no taste actually like that garbage place. Food was good. Spicy gyu wasnt really spicy. Meat was good. Noodles were thinner than i usually like but they were still firm. My friend liked it too. Egg was nice
Wow, we visited the area for a weekend from Toronto where we could easily access some very authentic ethnic food. We were pleasantly surprised by this dig. The service was prompt and set up was patron friendly. We placed an order at the counter, we sat down and our food were delivered right to our table. I had a Gyudon while my husband had the Tonkatsu Ramen. Both dishes were authentic and well prepared. The portion was generous but not overwhelming. The ingredients were fresh. My Gyudon's beef were so tender! They even offered authentic Japanese UCC brand soft drinks and alcohol. If we ever return visiting this area, we would definitely come back.
I have eaten several times at Kuma ani and have loved it every time. If you're looking somewhere to fill your stomach this place would be one of my first suggestions. especially if I'm sick, my go to will be soup/ramen. The main thing I order here is the build your own ramen item on the menu with beef brisket, baby bockchoy, bean sprout, mushrooms, extra ramen and other things! The customer service is friendly and attentive even when they're busy. You have the option of eating out or taking out which I like. The only thing I struggle with is how fast the sickness can get in my soip base. I typically choose 1 or 2 but anything after 2 gets too spicy for me. I would say feel free to explore that on your own but if you're not do d of spicy foods just don't try adding spiciness to your ramen at all. Other than what I have tagged in a photo under this review their by are a great appetizer as well! The menu has great options and I've taken others here plenty of times and they love it as well! Also dont be shy to ask questions about your food before ordering!!
Really nice place for ramen and rice bowels. Prices were average at around 12-14. They even have a build your own ramen menu. Just heads up, spicy can be spicy. I got a level "2" (out of 5) and it was fairly hot. Food came out really fast and tasted amazing. The staff were really friendly and the restaurant was clean.
Excellent food, great flavors and absolutely delicious. We got shumai, spicy tori ramen and brisket donburi. Everything was delicious. My daughter loves corn and they gave us some corn on the side free Of charge. We were traveling from NJ to Lake Placid and we just did not want to eat junk food at a service area so took this detour. I m so glad that we did it. Highly recommended.
Amazing vegan broth ramen. Arrived hot and very tasty, very customizable. Seats are a bit limited.
This place is always great. The food is full of flavor, the portions are perfect and the staff are friendly. I ordered here recently and there was a hiccup and they forgot an item in my to go order. They fixed it with a smile and positive attitude. It’s not often a restaurant has superb food AND staff but kuma ani on wolf rd is one of those places! :)
Got the chicken miso ramen BYOB it was the most flavorful ramen I’ve had, thinking of getting another bowl again today it was that delicious. Got extra broth and was able to have 3 servings of this!
Diverse and delicious! What a burst of flavorful dishes. We stopped in just by chance but will come back. Everyone was pleasant and helpful and the food has a depth of flavor that is unique.
The ramen bowls were huge, the ingredients fresh and tasty. The chicken and pork were cooked perfectly- so tender they almost fell apart. The fried gyoza were awesome- perfectly crispy fry on the outside with delicious filling. The staff were helpful and courteous. 10/10 will go here again!!
Me and my wife used to go to this ramen gem once a month when we lived in the area. When we moved away for 2 years we still made the trek up whenever we were visiting friends or family. Now that we are moved back to the area, we still love it! Never had a bad meal here in the years of going to it!
I love this restaurant truly. The food is amazing. The staff is always nice. The style they have is very appealing to the eye. To add a story, I was coming back from college late at night and I knew I wanted to stop at my favorite ramen restaurant. I ordered my food no drink as I am trying to save my money a bit. However to my surprise one of the staff members was kind enough to bring me a cup of water, unprompted. It was an amazing act of kindness I won't forget. Will help make the remaining half of my trip easier. These people are amazing and the food is worth every penny. It is a must to try this place at least once.
Kuma Ani is one of 3 places in the greater Albany area I'll go to for Ramen. Their menu is diverse and the optionability is on point. The food is fresh, the staff are kind and friendly, even took time to answer some non order questions about their process. We left full and satisfied! The atmosphere is more on the quiet side, seating for roughly 30+ people, contemporary but quaint. Big fan of theirs and will continue to be!
We were on a road trip through upstate New York and stopped in Albany for a night. I found this ramen spot on Google Maps—it had a ton of great reviews, so we decided to give it a try. The service was warm and welcoming. The young Black lady at the counter was especially kind and friendly, which really made our visit feel personal. We ordered the spicy ramen, tonkotsu, and Japanese fried chicken—everything was delicious! We’ll definitely stop by again next time we’re in town.
Great selection of rice and noodle bowls. The service is friendly. The food came out quickly as it seems they have the whole operation running smoothly and very efficiently. The food itself was yummy. I was happy with my selection and look forward to trying something different next time.
I had lunch at Kuma Ani on Wolf Rd today and tried the Vegetarian Spicy Ramen – it was delicious and very filling! The place is small and tends to get packed during lunchtime on weekdays, but the cozy atmosphere makes it worth the wait. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive, which added to the great experience. Definitely recommend stopping by for a flavorful bowl of ramen!
Stumbled upon this place on a business trip while looking for a quick bite. Since I was alone, I was happy to sit at the bar at the back of the restaurant. Personally, it was a great experience to have that area to myself with large windows. As for the food, the curry noddles were amazing. I didn't even get a chance to take a picture as I was too eager to devour it. I also ordered the korean style chicken wings.
Food is yum! Staff are nice! Service is good!~ I left this review on Sep. 3rd, 2022, last year when I came to Albany first time. Today, Aug. 28. 2023, me and my family came here again, all the staff are so nice and so friendly as well, and the ramen and pork bun are so delicious too. The pork bun is Taiwanese food, even not exactly the same, but it’s delicious and it’s a kind of comfort food for us, foreign tourists from Taiwan.
Very pleased I decided to stop in @ Kuma Ani on Wolf Rd in Colonie. Very clean & open restaurant. All food is made fresh upon order, cooked & presented masterfully. I tried the egg rolls this time. Light, crispy & served w/ a delightful sweet chili sauce. I tried the ramen this time, 😋 what a tasty value.. If you want something amazing for your appetite stop in @ Kuma Ani, you won't be disappointed, this is one of my top picks.
Great food at a good price, at a little place that doesn't look like much, but will surprise you with quality and flavor. Not much seating to eat in, so you may have to wait for a seat, or plan to take it to go. But the food is awesome and worth it.
I thoroughly enjoyed my bowl of Spicy Gyu Ramen here. It was a thin but flavorful broth, not truly spicy, and the cilantro added an element I'm not really used to with ramen. The beef was crispy and absolutely delicious and there was A TON OF IT. The picture doesn't do the bowl justice. And the marinated egg was amazing as well. It actually stayed gooey and awesome until I was ready to devour it. The extra levels of garlic in this bowl was also appreciated because I love garlic. Who doesn't? Okay, so the bowl was amazing. I have to take time to say something about the experience entering the restaurant, however. I walked in a little bit after 3 p.m. when Google informed me that there weren't a lot of people dining in. That was true. The girl standing at the register just stared at me blankly blinking. I walked up and waited for her to at least say hi or ask me some sort of a question but there was nothing. I started the interaction by saying "one person please". She responded, "okay" and continued to stand there. I froze. I wasn't really sure what to do. I reiterated to her "I'm dining in for one person". She said, " that's fine, what would you like to eat?" Again, I kind of froze because I wasn't sure what I wanted to eat and what toppings I wanted to add due to the fact that I hadn't actually sat down and looked at the menu yet. I slid over to the side and grabbed the menu quickly and just landed on the spicy gyu bowl. I didn't add any toppings or anything crazy because I felt a little bit rushed and awkward with this whole interaction so far. After paying for my meal, I asked her if I could pick somewhere to sit and she said "sure of course" and I landed on a table close to the register. The next interaction that I had was when the cook brought the bowl out to me. No offer of water, no nothing else. After finishing my bowl I stood up and walked by the register and simply said "thank you" to which the girl replied, "okay". I've never felt so awkward ordering, eating, and leaving a bowl of ramen. Food was great, customer service/social interaction was a little off.
We like this place. This is the second time we've come here. We both had the build your own bowl. the first time I had the spicy level too high and it was too spicy for me to eat and enjoy. I'm glad we came back the second time because I set the spice level to number 1 and the food was great.
Different than my normal ramen down in NYC. Different flavor profile and type of noodles. It was a pleasant change and appreciated. The service was very much self serve and we'll leave you alone. The pricing was a bit higher than I honestly expected but times are different. Will it work in a pinch yes. Will I drive 2 hrs to get it like NYC no.
Kuma Ani is a Japanese eatery with delicious options for a quick meal in a laid-back atmosphere! I’ve been here a few times, and everything I've tried so far has been fantastic. We’ve had the Karaagedon, Curry Chicken Ramen, Spicy Gyu Ramen, Ultimate Tonkotsu Ramen, Curry Don, and the Zha Jiang Mein. Every dish is packed with incredible flavors, perfectly cooked, and the beef is always SO tender. My boyfriend’s go to is the Spicy Gyu, but I still need to try more to figure out my favorite! I also appreciate how beautifully they present the food ^_^ They also offer a Build-Your-Own (BYO) ramen option, which I’m yet to try. We’ve ordered takeout from them before, and the food was packed securely with no spills. I was worried about the ramen, but it arrived warm and intact! The staff is incredibly sweet and friendly, especially the lady at the front—she’s so adorable and always mindful of the customers. I love when she calls me "dear," it always makes me smile hehe ☺️ The relaxed atmosphere of Kuma Ani makes it the perfect spot for a quick meal when you’re craving ramen, rice bowls, or noodles.
Flavors dont exactly match in the ramen. It's just salty
I received the gyoza, which was unsatisfactory, and then an ultimate tonkostu ramen. Here are some issues with it. The noodles should have been thinner, the pork char-siu was salty and hard, and the broth was fine, but the eggs were the best part.
I am long time customer. I used to love the flavor of their ramens but lately they have been tasting very bland/watered down. This time around, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with extra broth, extra noodles and a side of brisket. The brisket was tough, the pork in the ramen was very minimal in quantity. And overall the taste was lacking.
This is my third time going, and I do like the food. Unfortunately, I had a very poor experience with the young lady that was taking the order at the register (glasses and braids). She was extremely rude and seem frustrated that we were not sure how to order a build your own bowl. When I asked which broth was standard in bowls they have on the menu, she replied that they’re all standard, and did not help any further than that. Having a bad day? Next time stay home and don’t take it out on the customer. The guy that brought the food at the table was excellent, and as stated, the food was really good. Despite my experience, I left a 20% tip. On the way out, no one said goodbye, or thanked us for coming. I will probably not be going back due to the poor customer service.
My husband and I went for our anniversary. We have never been here before. We will not be back. The only reason for the 2 stars is because the food wasn't horrible. It was nothing special but it wasn't horrible. The place was full when we got there. When the person finally came to the front counter, We were told the only place to sit was where there were high stools. That was fine, what they didn't say was that it was in a tiny secluded corner that had two tiny short counters, each with two stools. Thank God no one else came back, there's no way 4 people were fitting there comfortably. The first thing we had to do when we got back to our secluded area was clean the counter and seats off as they were full of broth, crumbs, and crap. Not a great first impression. I had to sit on my jacket as there was no place to put it and no back to the stools to place it. The radio was playing music but it kept going in and out and freezing. That was alright in a way because it wasn't my type of music at all. I didnt think they would know where to bring the food. It came out semi quickly. It was alright. It wasn't filling. I actually left there hungrier than I was when I arrived. We had to stop at our local grocery store and grab something from their hot bar to bring home. Not something you want to have to do after eating at a restaurant. That was disappointing.
The Ramen soup had a weird taste, and a sweetness to it, sort of Anise tasting. The Korean chicken wings were good, no sauce needed. The gyōza were good as well. Also didn't realize that you have to order as soon as you come in!
My sister and I went to go pick up a larger order today to feed my family that was at my home taking care of my infant daughter. An associate asked if we were there for an order. We confirmed our name on the order and then she proceeded to call up "Benson" to talk to us. He went on to explain that they've had large orders getting disputed later on by one time customers. And then asked me about having been there before. I told him I had been there in the past but didn't remember the last time I had gone. Luckily my sister picked something up for my wife earlier this week and someone working there recognized her. We got our food and left but I won't be returning this establishment again. I don't like to be interrogate about the last time I had purchased from an establishment. What would have happened if I was the only one picking up the order? Was it going to be my word against theirs until I proved that I had been there before?
When I picked up I specifically asked if there was cutlery in the takeout bag. I was told yes. I guess I should have checked as there was no cutlery or napkins. Very disappointing as I unable to secure any of these items where I was. So either eat noodles with my fingers or not eat. I called and they said sorry. Not making me feel any better.
Kuma used to be great back in the day, but currently there are many better, more affordable options. The pandemic was 5 years ago, but they still have that giant table in-between you and who you are trying to order from. Really telling people to stay away. No food improvements, no innovative new food options, just inflated prices for the same old, same old. After a price tag of $70 for a lunch for 3, I don't think we will be back. Time to find a new spot.
I ordered: Ultimate Tonkatsu Ramen - no flavor in the broth; bland and needed salt. Japanese Fried Chicken - nice and crispy; no flavor/seasoning. Fried Gyoza - no flavor. Fried Shumai - again, no flavor. $45 spent. I really wanted to enjoy it but I didn't enjoy any of it. I was desperately searching for salt. Never again.
