Excellent restaurant! I got the Nutella fresh toast which was a bomb! If you are familiar with Babka (a chocolate bread/cake) this dish has a similar vibe to it. It’s perfectly cooked, soft enough but not soggy, and crunchy on the edges, and the inside is full with Nutella! (You can’t go wrong with that!). The restaurant was a bit busy (I came in on a Sunday around 2pm), so I waited for about 15-20 minutes to be seated. My partner got the pancakes, which were super fluffy. This place is cash only!
Food and service was excellent. The French toast and pancakes breakfast plate was outof league. Only accepted cash have an ATM inside.
Went for brunch with friends this past weekend and had an amazing experience. Loved the vibes of the marble-topped cafe tables and the Nutella-stuffed French toast is to die for! Remember to bring cash, as they don’t accept cards. It’s no wonder there was a wait to be seated but it was well worth it.
One of our favorite spots. The omelettes are amazing and the pancakes are to die for. Would give them a million stars and would definitely go back even though it's almost 2 hours away from where we live even years afteroving up north. Pro tip: you can ask for a half order of pancakes if you don't want the two (even though you probably will want them both anyways).
We went on a Sunday morning right before the brunch rush and it’s was great! There was some wait to sit outside (~20 minutes) but it was not too bad. Food was delicious. The service can be a little slow, so it’s better to go when you’re not in a rush. I had the Nutella stuffed French toast and it was SO GOOD. Dreaming about it everyday
This was the perfect spot for our Saturday breakfast in BK! I was a bit nervous that we would have to wait a while for a table, but luckily we got there early enough (arrived around 10:15am) and they sat us immediately! We both got the pancake platter and let me tell you that these pancakes were the fluffiest, crispiest pancakes I’ve ever had. I would definitely go back if I lived nearby!
Came here for brunch mid week around 11 am and had to wait 30 minutes for a table. The pancakes were absolutely phenomenal! I would say #2 best pancakes in the city for me! Really big portions so I recommend sharing! Servers were nice and the ambiance was nice. It’s a cash only establishment so make sure you have cash.
Stopped here for breakfast on our trip. The cafe is homey and cozy. You might not expect it from the outside. We got to sit near the door and there was the most amazing breeze. The pancakes are every bit as delicious as other reviews say they are. 10 out of 10, must have. The staff were lovely and polite, always making sure our water was full and that we were happy.
They are a local place with great service and amazing food. They are best known for their brunch but their dinner menu is pretty amazing. They have great (and different) deal each night (M-th) with some ending at 7 PM.
Thought this place might’ve been overrated due to the long wait but I WAS WRONG. This place is at least a 4.7. The coffee was excellent and atmosphere too. The real star of the show is the cheese steak sandwich and pancakes as a runner up. Really solid brunch restaurant, Parisian vibes & nice staff.
tried Cafe Luluc for a second time after not being too happy with the place.. and I must say I'm glad I did... Place wasn't too crowded and their French toast !!! was delishhhh. (it's my go to dish) nice cozy atmosphere. first time I sat out side, this time indoors... nice for a quick bite for 2
I went here for dinner and everything was great. The gnocchi with veggies comes topped with cheese and some kind of savory sauce and the grilled veggies were flavorful and delicious. Others had the tortellini with mushroom sauce, the rosemary chicken, the chicken sandwich, and the salmon and loved everything (in that order, from best to least best). The grilled chicken sandwich is huge! Other than that the portions are reasonable, not too much and not too little. Service was friendly and attentive! It was not crowded when I came for dinner but it gets VERY crowded during breakfast/brunch-- you should expect a wait.
This was a life changing pancake experience. They really put the pan in pancake. The bacon was damn crispy too. Back to the pancakes- have you ever had a pancake that was crispy around the edges yet fluffy everywhere else? I have. And the balance of the world will never be the same again. Also had a good omelette. The toast was kind of lame tho but completely overlooking that. You don’t come here for the toast. The rest of the menu looks good for lunch. Need to try the cheesesteak!
This is a lovely little neighborhood spot with great weeknight specials where you go and have a delicious meal at a reasonable price point. The servers are attentive but never overbearing and a range of French bistro classics are on the menu. Overall the experience was really pleasant and relaxing.
I’m sorry, but EVEN with the continued holdout for cash only, Cafe Luluc is all around 5 stars. One word locks their neighborhood dominance- pancakes. I’ll say it again. PANCAKES! Yes PANCAKES!!!!! They’re that good. Consistently and reliably amazing. It’s like they have a secret ingredient to make them so light and fluffy in the middle and crispy, crunchy perfection on the entire outer diameter. They could sell just the crust and it would destroy. No exaggeration. We have 2 kiddos, so brunch with them is a thing. The ultimate hack is to have them order the pancakes, steal the key bites and offer compensation via French fries. Dipping the fries in syrup is a classic sweet & salty treat. The egg dishes are also excellent and satisfying in all ways (and they all come with their own order of incredible fries). Recommended pairing of a Bloody Mary (served spicy when ordered regular). It’s a bit tiny honestly, but a great flavor and kick… you may need 2.. (alcohol side note) If you’re a sweet tooth the peach Bellini is bubbly forward and with fresh juice. You’re going to get typical brunch crowds and a wait if you arrive during prime time (though they do open up early AM too). Fun, lively and slightly loud music round out the ambience they’ve been known for for decades. Make it a special stop if you are exploring Brooklyn or live here. Voted the best pancakes I’ve ever had anywhere by me for almost 20 years. Yeah, I said it.
The breakfast here is spectacular! My go to are those perfectly fluffy pancakes paired with a Bellini. The waitstaff is really accommodating although the hostess needs a bit of work. Due to quarantine/outdoor dining rules the wait time can be rather long and I prefer to sit in the garden which has less tables than it used to. I visited on a Saturday and waited about 50+ minutes for a table.
It’s always crowded but I didn’t mind it because the pancakes are amazing. I had French toast with apple compote and it’s crazy how good they are at making such a simple dish. Their niche are the pancakes but everything else looked good and the drinks were great. Service was nice and friendly but reminder they only take cash! They have an atm on site for us non-cash carriers.
I was introduced to Cafe Luluc on a chance stroll on Smith Avenue while in BK for a concert. I had the quiche and salad for breakfast. My friend had the waffle. It was great. That was almost 10 years ago when I thought my better half would love this place. I didn’t have the opportunity to introduce him until 2024. We went and as expected he loved it. He’s the pancake connoisseur. Now this has become our go to spot when we go to BK. You know a place is special when there is a line outside before the place opens. We made it point to be there at 850 AM. Another great experience this weekend for the books. I had the quiche and salad and hubby had the pancakes. Still amazing.
I've been here about 6 times. I haven't been disappointed AT ALL! Which is why my husband and I keep coming back. I've had the tacos, salmon, pancakes, and today my husband had the French toast. The food is awesome. The service is great. The atmosphere is cool. They even have a cute, quiet, little corner to eat if you're dining alone which I've done and read my book. They also have an outside area in the back. I plan on becoming a regular here. 10 out of 10 HIGHLY recommend!
Fantastic food, generous portions for reasonable prices. The atmosphere was very friendly and we didn't wait long for our food. Great experience well worth a visit.
Delicious every single time from breakfast to dinner. I’ve gone to every meal time they offer and this place never fails. Food is super fresh and flavorful. Great daily specials!! I was a super fan from my first brunch. Cash only, atm on site though
I’ve been coming to café Luluc for 20 years and they have remained amazingly consistent over the decades. Their pancakes and food overall never miss. It’s rare you find a restaurant that maintains its quality in both culinary skill and service but Cafe Luluc is it!! A true gem and worth the wait.
Delicious food! I had the pancakes with eggs and sausage and everything was excellent. We came with a party of 9 and waited about 45 minutes without a reservation, which was expected. Service could have been smoother—our server left before we paid and we weren’t notified. Cash-only spot, so come prepared. Overall, great food and worth the visit.
Great brunch spot especially when the weather is nice and you can sit outside. Everyone there is super chill, the vibe of the restaurant is cool, food is delicious and the portions are generous. It gets a little crowded during peak brunch hours and there’s wait time even with a reservation but the place is definitely worth it.
We thought having a French breakfast would be the best way to start our day, little did I know, the special was chilaquiles! And I adore them so I ordered some and they were delicious. The coffee was great and the French toast was also fantastic. Great service and lovely atmosphere with good music.
When I visited the restaurant I was impressed by the large portions and the quality of the food. 🍳The breakfast was really good and the meat for dinner is of high quality. 🥩 I tried the meat with the sauce separately and it tasted great. However, when the sauce is served with the meat, it overpowers the flavour. 🥞 As for the pancakes with fruit, I would rate them 3.5 out of 5. The pancake itself is large, but unfortunately the taste was not impressive - I expected more. Quality ingredients, but not enough creativity in the combinations. There may be a queue in the morning, but in the evening there are usually seats available. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant and cosy. 💲Breakfast is approximately 30$ and dinner is 50$ per person. Only cash is accepted 💵 All in all, it's a good place for breakfast or dinner and I'll definitely be back, hoping for an even better experience!

Delicious breakfast, great service . I would highly recommend this place , the pancakes were perfect
I love the interior, they have nice outdoor seating as well. It gets busy during the weekends but the service is great and quick nonetheless. The food is so yummy as well.
Nice restaurant in the heart of carolls garden mixing french and american classics in a parisian cafe set up.\n\nWould definitely return

this restaurant is soo cute, I came with my girlfriend. we had the calamari nice portion for a app. i had a grilled sandwich with arugula and my girl had the pasta i lovee the french friess! and omggg the banana split is a must have for dessert. I enjoyed my night here the service was great they were fast and attentive. definitely need to come here for brunch
I came here out of recommendation from a co-worker stating that this place had the best pancakes in Brooklyn. The pancakes are good....but the best? Hmmmm I don't think so. Don't get me wrong, they are indeed very light, fluffy and filling. I was kind of bummed by this place with its "cash only" policy and the prices are a bit steep. This place seems like it is always busy, so my suggestion would be to get there as soon as they open if you want a table, otherwise you might have to wait a while, since this establishment is quite small and can't really handle large groups.
Good breakfast food. The pancakes are sooo good. My only complaint was that the salmon with the eggs that I got were super salty. And the salad too, I couldn’t finish it at all but overall the fries, pancakes, eggs and bacon were tasty.
*** 3.5 Stars *** I been to this quaint cash-only cafe a few times during COVID because its in a convenient location. Upon entry, you will feel like you are transported to a European cafe with the beautiful decor. The restaurant has indoor, outdoor dining, and a backyard. There is a huge blackboard with specials on the wall but, apparently they don't do specials anymore. I have eaten lunch and dinner here but, during my most recent visit I decided to try their delicious pancakes. My neighbor and I both decided to get pancakes ($12.50) and she got an side of eggs. The pancakes were delicious and came with a generous serving. They were crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy in the inside. It was very hard not to devour the entire stack of pancakes in 4 seconds. The side of eggs on the other hand wasn't tasty. It had this weird icky after taste almost like they went bad. I have tried several dishes at this cafe and found most of them to be delicious and filling. The only reason why this cafe doesn't get 5 stars is that the service is the worst. It's impossible to get a waiter and they are very rude. When my neighbor ordered her pancakes and her side, the waiter was checking his watch while rolling his eyes. For a person who is dependent on tips for a living, you would think they would treat their customers better. When we went the cafe was very empty but, our food still took over 45 minutes and no one checked in on us after we got our food. I would visit more often if they had better waiters on hand because this has been my experience every single time....
CASH ONLYYYY!!!!!!! Bring CASH!! there is a Bank of America across the street!!! the best thing was the Mac and cheese no bread crumbs once it cooled down and the French toast was great …we returned the fries and eggs dish with salmon that was NOT good and he took it off our bill which was GREATTTTT service thank youuuu!! We wanted brunch at 5pm lol
Came here today with my partner. We both enjoyed our sandwiches, the vegiie and the turkey and brie. I also ordered a French onion soup that I didn't like because they used red onions instead of the more common yellow, so it was bitter. Also, they brought it out with the sandwiches instead of before, not really anything against that as I could've specified, but usually you get soup brought out shortly after ordering it.
During our last holiday in the city, we were on the lookout for a trendy breakfast spot and stumbled upon a cozy cafe in Brooklyn. We took an Uber to get there, and it was definitely worth the trip. The food we ordered was delicious, and the coffee drinks were top-notch. We hope to return and sample more items from their breakfast menu the next time we're in town.
I had very different experiences for brunch and dinner. Dinner has been relaxed, with good food at modest prices. The daily specials are great value. I've returned multiple times. Weekend brunch, on the other hand, is something I don't want to repeat. I'll review that below. At any time of the day I've been, the waiters have always been too busy, and some of them have ignored me multiple times when I asked for more coffee and the check. Everybody is talking about Cafe Luluc's pancakes. They are good and they are huge. The sides are not that great though: I only got several pieces of fruit and not enough yogurt to smear over the large pancakes. The place is super crammed with tables, there is a wait, and at least during breakfast on weekends it's very popular with families with children, so be prepared for a loud crowd.
Cafe LULUc is my picky foodie friend’s favorite brunch spot in Brooklyn. He told us their pancakes is on the top of everything. It’s one of the most popular restaurants in the neighborhood so the wait was bad at peak hours on weekends. We highly recommend to come early to beat the crowd. The decor was elegant and old-fashioned with cozy ambiance but it’s narrow-spaced. They serve classics brunch options in a great variety and we got Pancakes, Pouched Eggs, Brioche French Toasts & Omelette. It’s overall delicious with good portion and reasonable price. Our favorite was their fluffy and soft pancakes with crispy layer. I personally love their poached eggs which was cooked perfectly.
Cute and decent place serving food in many options. Like their decor inside. FYI CASH only but price is reasonable. Overall food is delicious. Pretty classic but they made them well. 🥞Pancake was fluffy and buttery, but it will start to taste dry when cool down. Love the beautiful, thin crispy edge. Scrambled egg with salmon (with fries and salad) was also a classic but well done. Salad was seasoned well, and 🍟✨fries became my VIP today. Crispy, not oily with a thin layer of salt.
Okay, so I heard about the pancakes, and I LOVE pancakes and breakfast, in general. I suggested this for my family breakfast. First, I want to say that this place is super small. I expected more room and tables, but fortunately, we were seated almost immediately. It was quite busy, but the service was pretty good, even though there were some mishaps. Now to the food - the pancakes were pretty good. I'm more of a soft pancake girlie with a bit of crisp and some butter. The pancakes were really big and perfectly round. There were crispy edges, but the flavor was different. Not bad, but it's just different to me. I'd give it a 7.5/10. The pork sausages were good, and the eggs were... eggs. They needed some seasoning, honey. I couldn't finish my entire meal, so i saved the other half for the next day. My family finished their meal and seemed to have enjoyed it. I can say that the portions are just enough for 2 days if you have my type of appetite. LOL. Anyway, I'm glad I finally visited the famous Cafe Luluc. Overall, I'd give my overall experience an 8.5/10.
I came here for the pancake. It was fluffy like many described it. However, I wasn’t mind blown. I also wanted to order sausage but was disappointed that they have pork sausage only. My sister ordered omelette with mushroom and asiago cheese, and it was pretty good. Also, the fires were perfect! The waiter gave me anxiety as he was always in a rush, but I get it the place is packed and he has to be on top of everything.
7.30.17 - The pancakes are consistently good here; fluffy, airy, and crispy on the edges. We also ordered the ham and swiss cheese omelette, which was filling and flavorful. Be warned that if you go at the beginning or peak or brunch don't be surprised if it takes 30-40 minutes before you get your order. It's happened to us multiple times, but if you show up early or at the tail end of brunch, it shouldn't be bad.
Cash only! We walked in on Sunday late afternoon without a reservation. There was no wait and were seated promptly. This is a very popular spot so plan accordingly. We observed that almost every table had pancakes. I had intended on getting the pancakes after reading the online reviews. Seeing pancakes everywhere solidified my decision. Everyone enjoyed their food! Our table ordered the avocado toast, burger with fries, French toast with apple compote and berries with bacon & eggs. Of course, I ordered the pancakes with bacon & eggs. Maple syrup is provided on the side. The great looking, fluffy pancakes tasted every bit as good as they look with the mable syrup! Unfortunately I had to trade a portion of my glorious pancakes for a taste of the French toast. Everyone at the table kept coming for my delicious pancakes. The savory options on the table were seasoned well. How do I know? 😉 We plan on trying their dinner specials and course meals on future visits.
Tasty Brunch Spot, fluffy pancakes and mimosas 😋🥞🍾 Came here back in November and just now getting around to this review…but it was memorable enough for me to remember this Sunday morning with my sister and hubby. Wait wasn’t too long but there is a queue…earlier is better. Menu has standard breakfast, brunch and lunch fare. I ordered the salmon salad and was pleasantly surprised with the generous portion of salmon, avocado and crisp fresh veggies. Salmon was cooked perfectly. Pancakes were so good. Crisp edges and fluffy goodness. Hard to share this. Eggs Benedict - good, potatoes could have been a tad more seasoned but they were cooked nicely. Love that you can order just one portion. Mimosas were a good accompaniment to a great brunch. Service was fast and attentive. Nice, lively neighborhood eatery.
CASH ONLY! Finally got to try the supposed best pancakes and they were not the best i ever had but still pretty good. It's a long wait to be seated, mainly because it's a small restaurant and feels kind of cramped. the staff is nice and attentive and answered all our questions. the food took a while to come out and it was pretty good but nothing crazy and honestly not worth if it's a long wait. the food is kind of expensive too. i would recommend trying it but only if you don't have to wait a while.
Breakfast was a succulent success. Fluffy pancakes that were already buttery (no additional butter provided or needed), sausage links, and choice of eggs, any style. The seating in the front part of the restaurant is a bit cramped, but there is outdoor seating near the front street and in their back patio. Well-suited for family dining inside the restaurant.
The only reason why I am not giving this place 5 stars is because is cash only payment. Let’s talk food. This has been one of the best brunch spots I’ve visited here in Brooklyn. The menu is very wide but I’ve only tried here the brioche French toast which are the best French toast I’ve ever had in my life. They are topped with strawberries, blueberries and apples that are prepared like the ones you put in a pie. Absolutely delicious! For $5 extra dollars you get to add eggs and sausage to this plate. I have pick of my companions dish, and they’ve been delicious as well. Also, it’s a very affordable place and has a very friendly atmosphere. Service is pretty good and welcoming. You can sit either inside or outside.
Cash only.\n"The restaurant is cozy, and the service can be quick depending on the day. The food met all my expectations, especially the pancakes and fries.

Solid spot in cobble hill! Always packed and no reservations. Brunch is quite popular! I go for the sandwiches- panini or the chicken on sourdough. fries are always supreme too.

I love trying different pancake places, so finally got to try this hyped up spot. The pancakes were fine. It could have used more butter (which you can ask for), but overall, not super memorable. My partner got an egg dish and they were overcooked and under seasoned. The greens were wilted. So many great brunch and pancake places across the city. Don’t waste your time with this one.
I was expecting better things to be honest! We had to wait 25 minutes to be seated (which was no issue, but I expected greater things). Our waiter was very nice and the rest of the staff were too, it was just the food that was disappointing. I got the pancakes with egg and sausage (the egg and sausage cost an extra $5!) and it was all just a little underwhelming. The pancakes were sort of dry and crumbly and needed maple syrup in order for it to taste anything special! The two I were eating with weren't totally blown away either - maybe it was just a bad day for the kitchen, after all, they have a lot of great reviews, all I know is that it wouldn't be somewhere I would go back to unfortunately.
CASH ONLY! We visited on a Sunday at prime brunch time. Definitely arrive early to avoid a long wait. My order was the luluc French toast (Nutella stuffed). Our table also ordered the pancakes. Both equally good. Service wait time was on the longer side but tolerable for a busy peak time. Can be expensive depending on your order.
Went to have lunch with my daughter and sister, wasn’t a long wait, I guess we just missed the Sunday brunch crowd…. Which was great 😊 the music was nice ,the food was delicious 😋 the pancakes are the best I ever had 😆…. But!! ..the waitress were a bit rude I guess it was a bad day for them 😷in my opinion that was extremely unprofessional off the fact that it was our first time there, I hope the next time they have a better work ethic .. the food is the only thing that saved them to be honest..
This was my second time here at Cafe Luluc. It’s okay food. Obviously they’re very busy on a Sunday because of brunch and we waited 30 minutes maybe longer to be seated. The food was okay and nicely priced. The apple compote is not tasty at all, really need to just take it off the dish period. The Mai Tai wasnt great either. Everything else was pretty good but would I come back? Probably not. 5.4/10
I think this place is a bit overrated. While the alright it did not wow me. The bread let the sandwich down as well, such a shame as the lamb sausage was actually very tasty. Shame we did not get to try the pancakes as actually these looked really good, maybe that was our mistake. The French toast was pretty decent keeping the stars at a reasonable level. Price wise it's reasonable especially for the portion sizes so that again keeps up the stars. It does get super busy here and you may have to wait for a seat. Better off coming with a small party than large.
For all the hype and the lines, I felt it was pretty overrated, especially with so many restaurants in the neighborhood. It was very cute inside and the host was great, but my Eggs Benedict came out slightly lukewarm with hollandaise sauce that seemed like it had been sitting out. The pancakes were yummy.
Cute restaurant, decent food, but the service at brunch on a Sunday felt chaotic. It took a while for the wait staff to take our order. While taking our order, the server seemed inattentive. I recall a moment where he was simultaneously pouring coffee with one hand while handing something to the table next to us. Efficient perhaps, but left us feeling like our server was in a hurry. Then, the table next to us that was seated after us got their food before us. I enjoyed my meal, scrambled eggs with salmon. I appreciate that the egg dishes come with both salad and fries, both of which were tasty. Overall it was okay.
I’ve ordered delivery from here quite frequently and it’s normally good, but I ordered a medium rare salmon today and got something that was ice cold and mealy in the center, something like 80% raw past the surface. I’m guessing they might have cooked the filet straight from the fridge??? Either way it’s not medium rare.
So crazy thing but I must say, worst thing here is the pancake. I know it gets all the hype and the other reviews are true, crispy edges and fluffy inside but that’s literally it. The actual pancake has no flavor and needs syrup. I am a fan of specialty pancakes with the fruit in flavor baked/cooked in. If you want a classic pancake that requires copious syrup, here you go! Otherwise skip that. Otherwise the food was shockingly good. We got a couple sunny side eggs and sausage (delicious of course), the open faced grilled chicken sandwich and chips and guacamole….that might have been the best chips and guacamole I’ve ever had. And based on the comments about the chilaquiles I think the sleeper here is the Mexican food. The grilled chicken sandwich was good, great sauce and stuffed once you tried to close it. The sourdough was delicious and toasty. I saw another table order chips and guacamole and clearly got more chips than us so they aren’t standardized with that unfortunately. Our service was also incredibly slow. I saw people who sat after us get food, drink, and get order taken before us. We waited about 20 min to get our orders taken and the food took long to come out. Unfortunately sandwich is not pictured. The Shirley temple was quite good per my bf but I gave up soda for lent so didn’t try. But it was so good he ordered two. I got apple juice and I’m not sure why I got a smaller cup, that’s always a pet peeve of mine, different size cups for juice vs soda or tea. Anyways I would definitely come back for Tex mex night or something else. Menu was extensive and a lot of things (salad, sandwich, pasta) looked good. Once again MUST DROP A STAR IF YOU’RE CASH ONLY IN 2025.
A quaint little diner. FYI CASH ONLY! The people were nice but so busy they took awhile to respond to requests. The food was good, but nothing to rave about. I came bc I heard about the pancakes.. they are like a skillet pancake, sweet and thick! My husband and I shared and we were stuffed! Got our own sides of eggs and meat. Mother in law had French toast, she really enjoyed them. I recommend getting there before 1030 on a weekend
The brunch here is good but I don't recommend dinner. It's quite expensive but the food was not tasty. The lamb was dry and tough and the salmon did not smell fresh.
Very cute cafe but really lacking in vegan options unfortunately. They have one sandwich and you have to remove the caramelized onions and pesto. What's left is sauteed veggies with balsamic which are bland and make the bread soggy with a side of undressed greens. They also have no milk alternatives for coffee, which is extemely bizarre for this day and age in Brooklyn for a trendy café.
DO NOT VISIT OR ORDER FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT! After frequenting this restaurant on very regular basis for over 5 years, the customer service I experienced today was deplorable. I ordered over $97 …
I originally wrote this review on Yelp last year and was told to bring it here to Google. Since then, nobody has reached out or gotten back to me regarding this illegal situation. Please see my review from last year below: I'm really sorry to have to write this, but it almost makes me wonder if the waitress was doing this just to us or to everyone. My fiancé and I have been loyal customers here for years. They serve some of the best pancakes, fish burgers, and chicken sandwiches hands down. However, this review is about the service, particularly that of one waitress. Over the years, we've seen several changes in staff, but we've continued to visit regularly. We come for weekend brunches, weekday breakfasts, and sometimes lunch or dinner during the week. About six months ago, when we started coming more during the week, we encountered a waitress who was quite off-putting and rude. Despite this, we didn't mention anything because we enjoy the food and have had better experiences with other staff members. However, I noticed that this particular waitress consistently added a 20% gratuity to the bill. Now, I've been coming here for a very long time, and they've never added a 20% gratuity before. But with her, it's always there. I noticed it months ago but never addressed it until yesterday . When I brought it up to her, she said, "Oh, I just started adding it last week." I responded, "Ma'am, please do not lie. I always come here, and you have been adding it for MONTHS! But yet, nobody else here adds it." She then replied, "Well, I don't know what my co-workers do." I said, "At the end of the day, if you add a tip to the bill, it should always be like that. You don't pick and choose when or who you do it to, and that's not right." The hostess, who has been working here for a while and knows us, heard what happened and apologized to us. She said she will be informing the manager. I just hate that this happens, and it always makes me question her intentions. I wonder if she was just doing this to people of color or if she does it to everyone to get her money. Either way, it's wrong, and honestly, I don't know if I will be returning here because of her.
There is a very detailed story on tictok from a black women sharing her racist experience she had at this establishment. For months she kept track of being charged gratuity onto her and her fiancé's bill without being told, no signage on the menu and only happened with one particular waitress. The women confirmed her suspicion after a table of 5 next to her being served who weren't black said they did not have gratuity added onto their bill. When she confronted the waitress the waitress lied and said it was a new policy which wasn't the case because the women had been keeping track of this for months. Noticing that when they didn't have this waitress gratuity wasn't added and when they did have her it was. She was unable to speak to a manager that day and went on to make a yelp review. She was never contacted by the restaurant and the waitress continues to work there till this day.
