Opinions de Bobbi's Italian Beef Brooklyn
Have been looking for a good Chicago dog in NY since shake shack took them off the menu. This was best I’ve had in NY. Will try the beef next time or deep dish. Either way coming back.
Bobbi's keeps getting better! When they first opened I was SO excited to have a place that serves affordable vegan/vegetarian hot dogs and sandwiches alongside their classic meats. Now every time I go in, there is a new special to try, a new piece of decor or beer to check out, and the vibe could not be better. Good music, great movies (on silent!), amazing artwork! The tables feature hand drawn illustrations! Something for everyone here!
My son and I eat a lot of food. I grew up in Chicago so I had to see if this was the real deal. I got a dipped beef with giardinera and my son got the personal deep dish pizza. The atmosphere made us feel like we were in Chicago. There is a lot of 80s Chicago memorabilia and at least one John Cusack movie was playing while we were there.
Absolutely loved eating here. I'm a Chicago transplant and the Italian beef was perfectly authentic in my book — aside from the bun but there's not much that can be done about that given the location. They're also a liiiittle conservative when it comes to the dip, so definitely go for the double dunk if you want an authentically baptized sandwich like from Al's in Chicago. Fries were only alright but nice to clean up the giardiniera peppers and leftover meat with. 100% worth the trip down from Manhattan. I'll definitely be back to try the dog in the very near future!
Awesome sandwiches, salads & hot dogs. I placed a very large order for our office (about 20 items) and they got everything right. Greek salad was fresh and large and he customized for me to make it spicy. The mozz sticks are really good! Definitely homemade and the marinara is great. The sandwiches are made with love and quality ingredients. The owners greeted us at the counter and the customer service was phenomenal. I absolutely recommend this place!!
From the moment you walk in here, you’re immediately transported to Chicago! Great little casual spot adorned with Chicago memorabilia offering up a solid menu of the comfort food the city is known for. The owner is super friendly too and you can tell very passionate about the food. I got a small Italian beef with hot peppers and a Chicago dog. Both were excellent, but OMG, that sandwich - so full of steaming hot and flavorful slices of tender roast beef - was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a while. To top it off, they’ve got a nice selection of craft beers to wash it down with. I’ll be back!
Excellent sandwich shop. You could tell the food was created and crafted with care. The chicken parm was outstanding. Now the main event, I got the cheesy Italian Beef. Great bread, good portion, perfect amount of cheese. Not too much. The beef was really good, I do like it a bit thinner cut but that’s nitpicking. I will say the hot giardiniera is HOT. Like leave you sweating under your eyes hot. IMO it’s like 15% too hot. Kinda became the centerpiece of the sando rather than the beef. But all that said this place rocks. Great vibe and staff and killer food.
I ordered a half meatball sub sandwich that rocked my world! The bread was crispy yet soft, and the meatballs were perfect. The owner of the shop was also very friendly and came around to each of the tables to follow up on the food. Such amazing service. I am looking forward to returning soon.
I have seen this restaurant on IG and put it on my list and today was the day. This atmosphere is pretty cool, it’s decked out with a a lot of Chicago memorabilia. They love home and I dig it. I’ve never had a Chicago style dog before and I gotta say it wasn’t good, it was great! The natural flavors of the dogs they use with the relish, peppers, pickle spears, tomato, onions with the mustard drizzle and that soft, warm poppi seed bun make it’s a whole experience. Textures and flavors really worked well together with a lil zip from the peppers kept me thinking about it. I went in there for the Chicago dog, loved it and had to try the chili cheese dog. The chili cheese dog was dope! It was flavorful and filling. The raw onions on top were a nice add. If you dine in they’ll throw you some tater tots which was pretty cool. That staff is very friendly and I appreciate that. While I was there I was able to get a taste of their Italian beef. I don’t think I have the culinary background to describe the flavor without messing it up. I will say it was delicious! the way the jus got soaked into the bread, the flavor of the tender Italian beef had me licking the cup it was in -_- I wanted more and I will be back for it! In my honest opinion this place is worth a drive for. I wasn’t disappointed. They have weiner Wednesday where you can get $2 off their dogs which is cool. I can’t like $9 for a dog is just a sign of the times, but at least they try to help their consumers out. All in all I will be back! This was a great experience and I am very grateful for the interaction I had with the staff. If you’re in the area stop on in
Fast food, fine service. Had their Chicago hot dog, which was absolutely great, plenty of veggie topping, bun meat all good. Their signature Italian sandwich was very so so on the other hand. Good quality meat. Too wet, so the bun didn't hold and you're basically eating a sandwich with a fork. Missing some veg on the sandwich. Good selection of beers, chill vibe, too loud music.
Usually this place is solid but I went on Sunday and there was a literal SCREW in my Italian beef sandwich 😂 I wish I was kidding. I bit down on something hard and thought it was a bone but no… a screw! We took it up to the counter and the guy working was nice, he offered me another one but I was already full and didn’t want to bite into more screws lol…. the manager (or owner?) seemed unfazed, he just took the sandwich and walked away without saying anything. These things happen, but it’s all about how the restaurant (or person in charge) handles situations like these and the owner clearly didn’t care which put a bad taste in my mouth…. Anyways just glad I didn’t chip a tooth
You know it's just all right. As Chicago dogs go, I've had a lot better. That said, here in New York they're hard to come by so it's a a comfort just to have one at all. There's something going on with the Vienna Beef dogs and they taste a little extra gamey. One thing I feel I have to mention is it's quite expensive for counter food at a place that's trying hard to look like a facsimile of a Chicago blue collar joint. The individual size deep dishes were tasty but took a really long time.
Solid Chicago dog. Great vibe, nice folks, extensive menu. I wish the dogs came with more fries, I got like literally three (what you see in the pic is what I got) and one was inedibly hard. The Italian left a little something to be desired, but I’m excited to come back and try the other sandwiches. Biggest surprise here was how incredible the homemade olive tapenade is, full of pickled peppers and other goodies. I took some to-go to put on everything I own, it’s so delicious.
I wanted to like this place and give it a high score, as I fell in love with Chicago roast beef and hot dogs at Portillo's during a trip to Chicago not too long ago. As a veteran of the service industry, I believe in and will give this spot another chance someday, but I cannot argue first impressions, and well, my first visit to Bobbi's was a nightmare. First the good news- I wanted to see how a Chicago inspired spot would do a chopped cheese, so that's what I ordered to go, along with a potato salad. While well seasoned, my chopped cheese was more like a "less sliced cheesesteak" than a chopped cheese, tasty but very messy and not chopped at all. My potato salad was good though underseasoned- a few dashes of salt at home fixed everything but in the case of potato salad, shouldn't it be well seasoned already? Now for the not so good news. On this warm Sunday, I arrive just after 12:30pm (I think they open at noon as there were many in the dining room when I arrived) and here are my obversations: -the restaurant was VERY hot inside. It wasn't until I had been there almost 30 minutes waiting on my to-go order (more on that later) that someone finally opened the door for ventilation. -The person who was running the show, a young man behind the counter, was quite loud and vocal, not necessarily a good thing in a restaurant that is small in size with an open kitchen where sound travels. While waiting for my food, multiple times I heard excuses about how the vegan dogs will take time because "no one defrosted any the night before", "the steamer wasn't hot", etc. After I and the person in front of me had placed out orders, this same voice loudly said "great, 2 more orders." -Many of us in the dining room were clearly waiting quite some time; one person asked for his dine in order to go as he couldn't wait any longer. When the voice behind the counter finally got to my ticket, he was loudly reading the instructions for my sandwich, clearly he had never made it before, and this is something that did not give me any confidence in my sandwich. - The owner walked in after I had been there waiting for some time, made one singular loud broadcast to quickly apologize and that he was stuck in traffic on the other side of Brooklyn. Shortly afterwards I got my bag of food and promptly left. Total time waiting for a sandwich and potato salad: 49 minutes. I have so many questions about this day but honestly, based on my tme spent vs the product I received, I'm not sure asking would be worth my time with so many other food and sandwich options on the same street, the neighborhood, the borough etc.
Ordered 1 thing off the menu, the Meatball Sandwich. $16, +$6 with some fries and a soda of your choice. The meatballs were not the best, definitely tasted previously frozen and/or microwaved. The sauce needed some umpth to it… overall quite sad. The bread was good though. 1/2 of the fries were limply cooked, and you probably got like 10. For literally $23 this was the equivalent of a shitty meatball sub in your suburban hometown Italian American joint that you would have Little League Baseball season ending parties at… at least they got the interior accurate to that. But here, a premium price tag is added for a non premium meal. Will not be coming back.
don’t look at the picture yet. i want you to imagine how much fries you’re getting for $7. picture it very vividly, even 2025 nyc price goggles is fine. are you ready? open the picture this puts an italian beef, fries, and a soda can at $31. they also forgot cheese on mine and didn’t include utensils nice guys at the counter though
