Extremely yummy chicken congee style porridge! Perfect for a cold day. Very affordable for a giant soup lunch bowl!
I normally frequent the Hainan Jones at the Urban Hawker so it's a surprise to have known of one in this area of Brooklyn so I felt the need to try it out. I had the regular staple of Poached Chicken over rice just to compare the quality of this spot compared to the vendor over at Urban Hawker in Midtown Manhattan. Just as good as here as it is over at Manhattan which is a good sign that there will be equal quality of the food if Hainan Jones were to spread out a bit more and I do want this franchise to expand. Service is just as timely as it is over at Manhattan, maybe even more so with a little less traffic over at the Dekalb food market. The area though is kinda lacking, though no fault of Hainan Jones. It's just that the one in Manhattan has a more Southeast Asian vibe over at that area, then again that location is located in a food court that has the vibe of a Singapore Hawker in mind so it's not surprising that this area feels flat but it's a minor grievance not meant to be taken seriously. It's just cool to see more than just one spot here and I do hope Hainan Jones does branch out more in the city because the food is divine.
Roasted chicken over rice is fire. Moist chicken coupled with rice that has been cooked in the chicken broth/juices is the ultimate comfort meal. The greens, soup and sauces (dark sweet soy sauce and sambal) create a wonderful symphony of flavors. One of my favorite quick bites in the city.
Really excellent food- this is coming from someone born and raised in Malaysia. I eat their chicken rice at least once a week! The people who work here are also incredibly friendly and are a true part of the neighborhood.
Great flavors for the chicken, rice, and yu choy (greens). I got a combo poached and grilled, but preferred the grilled more as the poached had more skin. Would order again!

In a culinary landscape where flavors are often repetitive, it's genuinely hard to find an experience that dares to be different. Every bite is a journey, a flavor combination so unique and bold that it makes an impression and establishes, without a doubt, a distinctive and unmistakable style.
Awesome chicken rice! Nice and rustic, just the way I remember it from back in Singapore. Brought back good memories of a simpler time for me. White Chicken was nice and soft, served in a generous portion! Rice was well cooked and fluffy just like how all good chicken rice is. Set came with a portion of kailan and a tasty cabbage soup. Highly highly recommended!
one of the best vendors at dekalb market. the food is always fresh and consistently good. the staff is friendly and always helpful. the flavors aren’t as out there as some other vendors, but if you’re craving something that feels like comfort food, thats fresh and well prepared this is your spot!
Congee was really good! Super flavorful and perfect for a cold day.
Years passed between my second and third visits, and the improvement was clear. You'll notice the tasteful decorative touches. The menu items were delicious, but what elevates Hainan Jones (Dekalb Market Hall) are its reasonable prices and attentive team. The meal was properly prepared. I find myself craving their food often.
A hidden gem! I got the congee here and was afraid it was a fluke with how good it was but the hainan chicken rice is great as well. Authentic Asian taste in an area where it's difficult to find
FFO: cozy, filling foods and chic headwear I frequent this food hall in between getting essentials at Target and Trader Joe’s. I’ve tried a lot of places, this is one for the books! Ordered the curry and pork cutlet with egg and rice. It came out faster than I could even find a seat, yet, was perfectly crafted to taste and had no hint of being rushed. Food was warm, rich, and oddly comforting. Cutlet was super crispy, curry paired perfectly with the yolky egg and rice. I will be returning.

Rock solid poached Hainan chicken spot. Tender, savory, delicious chili sauce to boot. What stood out to me was how delicately the Yu choy was cooked; typically the stalks are tough but not at this joint. Still crunchy. Absolute finesse

Food was tasty however I took off two stars because the chicken wasn't fully cooked when the bone and the meat around it was pinkish red plus food was cold.
It was a nice spot to grab a bite. If you can't decide what to eat, you can get a variety of dishes from different stalls.

The chicken itself is mid. The meat is not very tender and the seasoning/sauce is just ok. The side veggie and the rice is decent tho
While I was pleased with the look and assortment of items included in the roasted chicken set, the taste of the chicken was just okay. The chicken was colored with something to make it look more delicious and roasted than it was. The skin was brown but it was not crispy as you'd expect with a roasted chicken. The texture of the chicken was tender Everything else was fine but not special.
Me and my friend both had diarrhea after. Food tasted ok. Small portion. Friendly staff. But the chicken sit there all day and is not good.
Saw this stall at Delkab market hall and was excited to try it out. Alas, I have to give it that many stars bc the flavor is just average. If you have been to Singapore, this is the average chicken rice one can get in the suburb at one of the housing flats hawker center. Still good to have though price point is too high. Lou Yau Kee has the same price and theirs are WAY better. And I asked for chicken breast for my set twice and yet I get a mixed of chicken breast with thigh meat 🫤
I tried their nonya laksa for the first time after going past it for a while. It was bad but wasn’t good either, like it doesn’t have anything standing out. The broth was just oily doesn’t have much punch to it. The two types kind of tofu in it was good and better than the shirmp, and I feel like that would be their main selling point. I’ve been eyeing their chickens but every time I look up close, they seem kinda dry and the price is kinda steep, so pass. Update, I tried their classic roasted chicken, really nothing special but passes.
