Ate lunch at i Sodi a couple weeks ago on a Saturday. We sat at the bar and had a great meal. We had heard that the lasagna was amazing but I’ve been trying to eat less meat so we ordered the vegetarian lasagna. It was delicious. That being said, we ordered before we actually saw the lasagna if we had seen the regular lasagna we would have ordered that because it looked out of this world. We started with the fried crispy artichoke hearts- yum. We also got the orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage- recommend it. We definitely treated ourselves at this lunch because we got cocktails and dessert! Overall we had a great meal. The bartender took great care of us. Will def be back!

Lasagna is must here! The butter nut squash pasta was amazing too. The ambience and service are exceptional! 3 hr wait for a table is a bit crazy but that’s NYC

Managed to walk in on a Sunday around 12:15pm and got lucky to get a spot at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and helpful with the menu. We split the fried artichoke and ravioli with spinach, ricotta, butter, and sage. The ravioli was delicious. The lemon pasta was light and melt in your mouth. The meat lasagna was also a winner as it was so easy to cut into — truly didn’t even need a knife. Def recommend a weekday lunch if you’re struggling to get in. Hope to go back again!

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. I've been here twice already and was not disappointed at all. Great bartender, staff, and people overall. Food was amazing. Their lasagna is probably the BEST I've ever had. It's 17 layers. And very filling by itself. You also get 2 other courses so come in hungry. For the antipasti, I got their off menu special (forgot the name) and loved it. The primi was the lasagna. And for the secondi, I had their brick roasted chicken (first time I came in) and the braised short rib. The ribs were so tender I didn't even need to use a knife to cut. It was amazing and flavourful. If you're going with 3 or more people you need reservations. It's very competitive as it opens at midnight and is only available for 2 weeks in advance. The space itself is very small. On both occasions, I went in at 4:30 pm on a weekday and was seated immediately (even on a Friday). As amazing as the food was the drinks and staff were just as great. Wasn't too sure what to drink but the bartender hooked me up with 2 cocktails she recommended and was out disappointed. Overall, a highly recommended place that deserves more recognition.

Most of the bad reviews here are frustrated people who can’t deal with tables being hard to get – best ignore! As for the experience itself, simple elegant white table cloth decor with impeccable service. Still love the Lasagna, the Artichoke Salad and the freshly baked bread. The Lemon pasta is good but not up there for me; same goes for the Cotoletta which I didn’t love as it’s a rather thick cut of pork (why don’t they do veal!)

M
Maria

The lasagna is mouth wateringly good. I dream about this lasagna. For drinks, you can’t go wrong with one of their special Negronis. If you like earthy cocktails, definitely try the Terra! The only issue is trying to snag a table, but if you can get there early and put your name down (and you’re willing to wait) you can likely score seats at the bar. The new space offers so many more seats than the original location and still manages to keep the cozy atmosphere.

The whole place smells so goood the moment you walk in!!! Their pasta is a real craft 🔥🔥 rabbit is just a bit too salty for me but very tender!!!

@netgonenutsforfood In short, this was amazing. Lasagne was worth the hype (my only critique being that it should’ve been a bit hotter because it was too warm almost room temp why 🥹), parpadelle limone was also delicious 🤤 appetizers were enjoyable! My least favorite course was dessert - the flourless chocolate cake was too rich/dense considering the portion size and really needed the ice cream. It was difficult to eat otherwise and overwhelming for me.

definitely above average Italian food. We didn't have a reservation so had to chance a walk in. Had to wait over an hour, but we got a nice table out in the garden and it was a really nice dining experience. Great service too. I'm not a huge fan of the fact that we were rushed out of the table after the meal was over though. However, I will definitely keep this restaurant on the list for a great place in the village.

I walked up to this restaurant with great expectations based on the reviews and it managed to meet all of them. The ravioli were simple yet comforting; the rabbit meat had a perfect texture and great flavor. The tiramisu was decadently creamy. The ambience is cozy and the staff was friendly. The place is small and a bit loud, so mostly good for small groups.

Best italian food in town. We have tried 6 pastas and they have been all exceptional. Will, Luis and Daniel made great recommendations.

Delicious. The only complaint is the bread is relatively mediocre relative to the rest of the meal. Flourless chocolate cake is a must-get.

M

Love this place!! Its one of the few places in New York that really stand out. Their pastas are cooked to perfection, and their service is always impecable (thank you Chris and Alex). Favorite dishes: beef tartara, insalata di endive, pappardelle al limone, paccheri strascicati, maltagiati, tiramisu, panne cotta, and gelato. All amazing!

Great dinner. Small and intimate space but service was fantastic. Will most definitely need a reservation. They only have a small number of walk-in seats at the bar. The food was well put together and pricing was reasonable. An easy walk from the West 4th subway station.

O

Absolutely killer dinner here! Very small space, intimate and perfect for date night. I could live without the fried artichokes but would die for the steak tartare, out of this world. Lasagna and limone pasta incredible. Flourless choc cake with ice cream a must to finish the night. YUM!

The lasagna here is probably my single favorite meal I’ve ever had in my life. Not just saying that, this is one of those dishes that I MUST have every time I’m back in NYC. That being said, of the 10-15 times I’ve been here, very rarely do I have something that isn’t incredibly good. Reservations have just become harder and harder to get, so be prepared to either line up for 4:30pm opening and eat early, or try to snag a reservation at midnight 2 weeks before the date you want. Seriously, it’s like a Supreme drop, but it’s worth it! You can also just try and keep an eye on it a day or so before since sometimes people cancel. Don’t hesitate though, eat here!

This is genuinely one of the best meals I've ever eaten. We've been here a couple times now, and each time the food and service were both impeccable. The waiters and waitresses are attentive and helpful and the food is absurdly well executed. A few simple ingredients come together in their plates to make something absolutely amazing--look at the cacio e pepe as an example. The food requires no gimmicks or showmanship, it's divine, plain and simple. Personally, we went with only pastas both times and found than 1 pasta and antipasta for each person worked quite well and left us full but not uncomfortable. The cacio e pepe, Fava bean salad, and flourless chocolate cake were some of the highlights from our last visit. They also have a wonderful selection of cocktails. I can't put into works the magic of this place.

another classic italian spot in west village w this place worth every hype! the ambience is dimly lit and so intimate. i went on sunday around 8.30 pm and a couple of bar seats were still available. what we got: -tartare: so good; refreshing and flavorful -lasagna a sugo: this was actually served warm which is so hearty -pappardelle al limone: simple yet hitting the spot -tiramisu: not sweet but so creamy and yummy

This is the greatest Italian restaurant in NYC. It took me 11 years to find it and finally get in (got a table outside instantly), but I know now. The rumors are true. The hype is real. The pastas here are better than pastas we had in Italy. The star of the show was the special pasta - a homemade thick pasta with pesto sauce. I wish I could eat this every week. The lemon pasta and the meat lasagnas are also outstanding, heavenly layers of thick pasta, deep and balanced flavors. Even their olive oil and bread is top-notch. Your tastebuds will go nuts. Big shoutout to our server Chris who was jovial, kind, welcome - the whole package! 5 stars!!!!

We walked in on a Thursday early evening and got counter table for 2. Our server was attentive, and talked a lot to us. We had lasagna and pappardelle al limone. The pappardelle sauce was really good, a little salty. The pasta was fresh. Lasagna was soft, hearty, and gooey, the layers were smooth in the mouth. But we agreed that the star was the pappardelle.

J

Impeccable service! Our waiter is more than professional The food is flawless, especially the medium-rare steak is beyond astonishment! Highly recommended if you’re hanging around the west village

The 10 layer lasagna absolutely lives up to the hype. My husband isn’t normally a cacio e Pepe fan but really enjoyed his dish. We split the Branzino and that was extremely well-done and felt a bit more creative than a typical just grilled branzino. We were sat in the back area inside and the one thing I’d recommend to the restaurant would be to have music playing… felt a little extra quiet back there and when you’re close in proximity to other diners it’s nice to have a little bit of buffer noise. Also would recommend checking in on the steadiness of the tables. All of the aggressive pulling out from the servers before you’re seated I think contributes to uneven tables which is a little annoying. Would absolutely not prevent me from coming back, however!

R
Rovik Robert

Food and service here are impeccable, especially since they have an evolving list of specials that keep you coming back! Walked in and was immediately seated (as were some folks behind us who also walked in) so I think they can be flexible especially on weekends. Bar service was top notch, especially as we entrusted him to make picks for our cocktails and dessert, both of which he executed well. Don’t sleep on the oxtail pappardelle - that was my all time favorite!

C
Cassandra Hong

Overall it was a good experience. I ordered the lasagna which was a good lasagna don't get me wrong, but it lacked a like "wow" factor to me. It was simply just a good lasagna if that helps. However the staff were great and everyone was very nice. They were all very nice and very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. The drinks were top tier though, I got the negroni classic and I loved it. I would have posted a photo of that here but I drank it before I thought of taking out my camera. Five stars on that.

5/5 - loved this place and it stands up to its reputation. Food - 5/5 Ambience - 5/5 Service 5/5 We arrived at 4.30pm on a Sunday for a walk in. Approximately 10 groups back from the start of the line and got seated on the bar straight away. From there we ate: 1) Tartare 2) Bread and olives 3) Burrata 4) Lasagne 5) Rabbit 6) Tiramisu Cannot fault anything about this place. Will go again.

S
Shana Devlin

We had a beautiful table outside in the small patio area. The service was attentive. As far as the food goes, all of the pasta dishes were really tasty. Highlights - ravioli and the pappardelle al limone. The only dish that didn’t wow me was the Cacio e Pepe lasagne. Maybe stick with the original, as this one was quite bland. The tiramisu was out of this world. Would definitely return for some more fresh home made pasta.

C
Cassidy Smith

Cozy restaurant serving quality fresh pasta. We got the endive salad, fried artichokes, the pappardelle al limon and the tagliatelle al cipollo. Everything was delicious, but our favorite was the pappardelle al limon. I got the classico negroni, which was very good. The only disappointing thing was that our pastas didn’t seem to be very warm when they came out to us - the kitchen was perhaps a bit off with their timing. The dessert was the rhubarb tart, which was just okay and nothing special. Overall, I think the price was about right and the pastas were amazingly fresh.

A
Andrew Wong

Got lucky and walked in with a 30 minute wait on a weekday. Restaurant is a lot bigger than it looks. Really loved sitting in the courtyard in the back. Got the lasagna and steak tartare. Deep flavor and buttery cuts on the lasagna, with subtle sweetness, almost like molé. Everything else looked really good on the menu. I’ll have to come again to try more dishes!

Hunter Bryson

I didn’t give my girlfriend a first class class seat and figured if I took her to isodi, it would get me out of the doghouse. It did 😎. The fact this has less than 5 stars is comical. She had the rabbit, which was out of this world as it was very tender and flavorful. I had an oxtail and mushroom special that was phenomenal. This is some of the best pasta in nyc.

i Sodi in New York City delivers an exceptional Italian dining experience. The cocktails are top-notch, and the wine selection is impressive, including a particularly memorable Chianti Classico. The food is equally outstanding. The artichoke salad with parmesan is fresh and flavorful, the pappardelle al limone is perfectly balanced, and the house pasta is a must-try. The slow-braised short ribs are tender and bursting with rich flavor. Every dish hits the mark, making i Sodi a must-visit spot for anyone craving authentic Tuscan cuisine in the West Village.

Honestly, this spot is worth all the hype it gets. It’s not crazy hard to get a reservation and definitely worth the effort. The staff were amazing. They seemed a bit understaffed for the day, and we barely noticed because the hospitality was top tier. Came for lunch on 9/19 and sat in the front room. Both servers working the floor were phenomenal! Lasagna and lemon pasta were fantastic. We also did the lamb special which was divine. 10/10 will be back. It’s just so much better than Torrisi.

A

Excellent food and service. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful. Both the bresaola and zucchini salad special were fresh and delicious. The meat sauce lasagna was generously cut and delicious as well. Highly recommend.

I Sodi is the real deal and one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city. Excellent food, wine, atmosphere and service, very reasonably priced. What I love most about I Sodi is they don't try to do anything fancy - the focus is on authentic traditional dishes and fresh, flavorful ingredients. My favorite dishes on the menu include: - Lemon papardelle - the pasta was a little thicker similar to fettuccini. I'm not the biggest lemon pasta fan but this was a standout. Just enough lemon flavor and not too overwhelming. - Cacio e pepe - one of the best in the city - Meat lasagna - love the layers and texture. Some may prefer it a little saucier but I enjoyed it. Suggest ordering an extra one to go that you can heat up and enjoy the next day. The only thing I'd skip is the fried artichokes which were a little heavy. The wine we ordered was also excellent. The bar seating is for walk-ins so you should be able to get in if you just arrive early around the opening. Don't miss it.

Incredible, managed a last minute walk in. The pasta was the clear winner, lemon sauce and the stew were incredible. Big thanks to Will, Luis and Daniel for the great service making it an night full of laughs and memories. Thank you

Even in a city with no shortage of great Italian food, they manage to still stand out as exceptional. The lasagna especially is great and not readily found on the same scale elsewhere. The cocktails are great and the servers/bartenders are always super nice, personable, and attentive. Downside is it’s almost impossible to get a reservation. They do walk ins, but the only way to guarantee you won’t have to wait 1+ hour to get in (or get in at all) is to get there right as they open.

I had a wonderful dining experience at i Sodi in Manhattan. The cozy ambiance, attentive staff, and authentic Italian cuisine made for a delightful evening. I highly recommend trying their incredible meat Lasagne - it's a must-try dish! Additionally, their Italian cocktails were great. They were expertly crafted and perfectly complemented our meal. Overall, i Sodi is an excellent choice for anyone looking for an authentic Italian dining experience in Manhattan.

We had a different reservation nearby that was canceled last minute by the restaurant so we decided to try a walk in here and we lucked out with the last two seats at the bar. We were expertly and warmly looked after by the sweet bartender, Shannon. We had delicious Negronis to start. I had the Terra Negroni and it was flavorful and delicious. We over ordered because it was our first visit and we wanted to try everything. We had a special dish, tuna with cannellini beans. It was a little too heavy on the beans but was ok. The heirloom tomato salad was very good. We had the bread with olives (you get 4 olives) for $5. I didn’t love the bread. The lasagna Ai sugo was fantastic with rich meaty flavors. The pork chop was cooked to perfection but we couldn’t finish it, took it to go. Zucchini off the grill was also very good. Tiramisu was good, maybe nothing special. I had a very good glass of Ornellaia for $20. We’re going to be back for another try and we’ll order more carefully. Recommend!

Very nice Cosy restaurant ! I walked in, no reservation and had a great time at the bar with a nice captain/bartender ! Food was good but only thing is maybe too pricy for Italian food ! Overall I had a great time

iSodi is not just a restaurant; it's an experience. From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the breathtaking beauty of the space. While our initial reservation was for the Garden, the accommodating staff seamlessly transitioned us to a cozy indoor table. Our server, Shannon, was the epitome of hospitality. Her knowledge, recommendations, and warm demeanor elevated our dining experience. The iconic lasagna was a flavor explosion, every bite a testament to the chef's artistry. The parpadelle limone was equally delightful. The wine-braised short rib was meltingly tender and packed with rich flavor. Every dish was outstanding, a testament to the culinary brilliance of iSodi. While securing a reservation might be a challenge, it's a worthy endeavor. iSodi exceeds expectations. Can’t wait to return to indulge once again!

All the dishes were soooo yummy that we wished we had more room to try more dishes! We tried their famous lasagna, which made it clear why it is famous! The Cacio e Pepe, which was sooo creamy and yummy, and the eggplant parmesan with tomato sauce which was truly delicious. We also liked our drinks and enjoyed the bread and olives at the beginning (which are not complementary) I would just say they can try to provide a warmer environment, it felt kinda a cold vibe and unnecessarily official

J

This was one of my best meals! I had high expectations before getting a last-minute reservation, and I Sodi met them. The atmosphere: it was a small restaurant with only around eight total tables. Half of the room is the bar, but the feel is like you’re in the chef's apartment. It feels very intimate. I enjoyed the design. The staff: was very kind and attentive. Our waitress was always around when we needed her and ensured we were well looked after. She was also very good at giving menu suggestions. The food: was immaculate! The chef can make simple dishes incredibly flavorful and luxurious. The lasagna, Cacio e Pepe, and special oxtail pasta were all some of the best I’ve ever had. The flourless chocolate cake was also superb! Cleanliness: the place was in order and nicely cleaned.

Went here for a friend’s post-courthouse marriage celebration with a total of around 12 people. They seated us immediately. My wine glass wasn’t empty the whole evening. The waiters were so friendly and accommodating. And… food was excellent!! Would definitely recommend for a classic Italian meal.

Tiny Italian spot that's been a local secret since 2008—recently moved but kept the magic . Rita Sodi's Nonna-style cooking: homemade lasagna, grilled rabbit with rosemary, simple and perfect . No fuss, just incredible food in a warm intimate setting . Always a cool "if you know, you know" vibe . Reservations tough but worth the hunt.

This place has gone from a nice neighborhood place to a destination but it never disappoints. The lasagna has been spoken for many times and we recently the 38 oz steak special and a 60 oz bomb came out an hour later. Always great food, drinks, and service.

I had been really looking forward to dining at I Sodi after a friend’s glowing recommendation and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The staff were warm, welcoming, and had excellent suggestions when it came to the daily specials. I highly recommend going with their recommendations rather than just ordering what’s trending on social media. The oxtail pasta was out of this world, and the off-menu mozzarella was a hidden gem. The wine list is also fantastic, Brunello lovers, you’re in for a treat. A true gem in the West Village. I’ll definitely be back.

The main stay west village romantic spot at the larger location. Was finally able to snag a reservation at a reasonable hour. The traditional Tuscan dishes is hard to find in the city. The back area is darkened to set a romantoc mood. Pork loin and rabbit were delicious along with wine and sweet tiramisu.

Disclaimer ***** Regardless of any experience had with an establishment, good or bad, 5 stars will be rewarded. Existing as a business is hard enough. I will always however, be honest as to what my personal experience was. Let's get into it. The day after the Knicks' choking incident the city was palpably quieter. It was a gloomy grey drizzly Thursday and I needed something to take my mind off of what had happened the night before. A bowl of pasta to quell this sickness. Scouring food pages searching for the finest pastas in the land, I Sodi stuck out to me. No res, fingers crossed, it was about 2:15 (45 min before lunch ends) when we walked in and was greeted by a server with long hair and William H Macy's cool younger brother vibes who informed me that if we could order and eat by 3, we could get a table. Me and Dani said **** yeah we already know what we're ordering. They sat us down and told us he usually does the whole wine and specials schpiel but It wasn't necessary. We ordered the Spinach Raviolis, Tha Paccheri, and the Pappardelle al Limone. Me and Dani just got back from a pasta making class in Florence where we made spinach raviolis. They came out amazing and we had a great time making them. Cute. I tasted one of these raviolis at I Sodi and understood that you cannot make a ravioli THAT DISRESPECTFULLY TASTY without years and years of pasta making and creation. INCREDIBLE. What was even more incredible was that the pasta got better. The pappardelle al limon was our fav dish of 2025. I've dreamt of it ever since, and we have gone back for it, and it still blew us away. The table next to us had the lasagna which looked aesthetically stunning and I am sure was delicious, but our paccherri seemed to have more sauce which was the perfect bowl of pasta for a rainy day. Affogato to finish out one of my most memorable meals in NYC ever and we were out of there before 3 p.m. We couldn't finish that last pasta so we asked for it to go. I guess being wrapped in the end of service, the team forgot the leftovers so we just paid and kept it moving. No worries, it was an amazing meal. One minute later William H Macy's hippy brother comes bustin out of the restaurant with the doggy bag like WAIT!!! Hands it to us and we all just start laughing like, How did that meal get even better. Drop the Mic. 10 outta 10. I wish I remembered that legends name but I will be back again and again because that experience was magical and restored my faith in the Knicks. The fourth pasta shown from the second time we went was also one of the best dishes of 2025 although I don't exactly remember what it was because it was on the specials. Short rib maybe? It kinda reminded me of an elevated beef stroganoff. Oh and lastly I am not a big fan of a Negroni (sorry Bourdain I will keep trying) but the Terra cocktail was an extremely light and balanced companion to my pastas. Go here. *****

Independent of the hype and difficulty securing a table, I really did enjoy my dinner here. The menu went beyond just classic Italian dishes, and everything was executed at a high level. The pappardelle al limone was a delicious plate, and I throughly enjoyed their special pasta which was a lamb ragu with a wheat maltagliati

So I have been trying to come here for 6 months and finally made it, and with all the anticipation I Sodi still blew my mind. The pappardelle al limone is just as pretty and yummy as they say it is on social media. We were also met with authentic service and the plating was notably elevated. Crazy lasagna also…

Love love love this restaurant! Food was delicious and the service was great. Our waiter was so knowledgeable and took good care of us. There were 4 of us dining. We ordered 3 appetizers, 4 main dishes including a 60oz Porterhouse that was phenomenal, and 2 desserts. The Espresso Martinis were also very good. I cannot wait to go back when we visit NYC next time.

Authentic Tuscan food. Came here twice for lunch. First time the two of us got the fried artichokes, the daily special pesto pasta, and the pork chops finished with fennel salt and Tuscan kale. The second time we got the zucchini salad, spaghetti Al limone, a daily whole wheat pasta with porcini and lamb, and split the rabbit. Everything wa very delicious and generous portion sizes. Personally I liked the secondis here more than the pastas - I saw someone get the grilled chicken and it look amazing with great char. I would also recommend the lasagna to share as well. Tough to get a prime time dinner reservation, but supposedly the staff says there are tons of last minute day of cancellations. Beautiful outdoor dining space as well.

i had such a wonderful experience here from the service and suggestions to the food and atmosphere itself. this place now has my favorite pasta, the ramps tortellini, and my favorite bite ever. it was flavorful, creamy, and melted in my mouth. other menu highlights were the steak tartar, lasagna, and roasted carrots. am definitely coming back to try their other pastas!

I Sodi’s cozy and intimate dining room in the West Village is the setting for traditional Tuscan fare, served simply and without pretension. For starters, we ordered the endive and artichoke salad, which were both crisp and delicious with a balanced bitterness from the greens and saltiness from the respective cheeses. The famous lasagna was perfectly textured and incredibly rich. While the flavors were excellent, it was a bit heavy, lacking the brightness you would get from additional vegetables or fresh herbs. The ravioli and the pork chop were both standouts. The pasta was gorgeously textured, with just the right amount of bite and complex flavors that delivered on I Sodi’s promise of simple food cooked to perfection. The pork chop was monstrous and had a beautiful golden crust. The inside was a perfect medium rare, and featured thick ribbons of richly flavored fat. For dessert we had the salame al cioccolato, or chocolate salami, which was dense and chocolaty. It was a playful, nicely portioned dessert for those that want to end their meal with a little treat. The wine list features an interesting variety of both tried and true and more unfamiliar selections of Italian wines (such as Fiano di Avellino), and the cocktail menu leans into the restaurant’s Italian roots with an entire Negroni menu. Overall, we had a lovely time at I Sodi, however there are equally good Italian restaurants in the west village that are easier to get into or more affordable priced. I would highly recommend going if you have the opportunity, but I wouldn’t expect a life changing experience.

Oh, I would eat here in a heartbeat. I was reminded of a memorable Tuscan dinner cooked by our hosts in the countryside. Fried artichokes, fried sage leaves, and elderflower fritters. Antipasto of roast peppers. Veal satimbocca (o.k. its origins are Roman). Salad of field greens. Panna cotta. Then homemade liqueurs. Delicious & anything but austere. "Noise Level: There's music, but it's so soft you probably won't hear it. The room is only as loud as the conversations around you." So you can taste more sensitively, converse more comfortably, and relax more deeply.

Very small little place for Italian flair. Went in as a group of 4 for an early dinner. Nice service, a bit slow on everything I guess from the short of hands. Appeitizers: Bread, olive oil, and olives: You pay for the bread, and it is a 4-5 inch diameter bread, to my taste, without proper proofing. The texture is a bit dense without lots of air bubbles/honeycomb texture that I am used to get from an European styled bread. Wouldn't order again if I have a choice. The unpitted olives were quiet nice. Carciofi Fritti, fried artichoke hearts. Crispy and warm and seasoned correctly. The seasoning is umani, not overly salty. Almost felt like eating crispy brussel sprouts but with artichokes. It is a bit oily but quiet addiciting with the texture. Bresaola e Stracciatella, aged waguy beef in prosciutto style paired with creamy stracciatell cheese, a cheese that is typically filled in burrata. Very very good. The beef is drizzled with balsamic vinegar/reduction and the stracciatella is drizzled with olive oil. Entrees: Maltagliati con Coda di Blue, tonight’s one of the three special pastas with oxtail sauce and whole wheat sheet pasta. The sauce is thick and a bit on the saltier side and umani with the mushroom. You can taste the grain texture on the sheet pasta, which hangs onto the sauce pretty good. Nice try but not impressed. Lasagna Sugo, the meat sauce lasagna that everyone talks about. 24 layers of sauce, ricotta make up to this tower of creamy and tomatoy creation. I refer to this as the “Lady M of Lasagna” for its multi-layering and melt in the mouth texture. There is an extra thick layer of meat sauce on the top and the lasagna tend to tip over if you don't cut it right (like a unbalanced crepe cake almost). HOWEVER, do consume it while it is warm. After sitting on the table for 10 minutes, the lasagna turned cold and meat sauce coagulated a bit, then it was less enjoyable. Pappadelle Al Limone, the interesting one. The pasta was more “al dente” then “al denta”. It is chewy, which to my friend was a blessing but not to me. The sauce is impressive: very lemony and sharp with pepper. Dessert: Tiramisu, not the my favorite type of tiramisu. The mascapone is dense, and it is a cheesecake style tiramisu. I am more used to tiramisus made with mascarpone whipped with more cream to give a much more smooth texture. Not sweet (good) and not very alcoholic (not good). Semifreddo, a frozen hazelnut mousse, but please consider it a hazelnut ice cream. It is topped with salty-sweet toffeed hazelnut bits and it is a blessing. It is not an airy mousse but a more gelato-ish dessert, and it melted very slowly. All four of us liked it. After eating this, tiramisu got no taste almost in comparison (because it is way sweeter). Generally a good date spot, the line was long when we dined. If you wanna a spot, better take your chances to come early for a bar seat or make reservations.

Best for a weeknight dinner. Loved the interior: dark wood, bar seating, small space and perfect sound level. Portions were very generous and everything tasted great! Found the lasagna slightly too dry to my liking but still very enjoyable.

What started off as a rocky experience ended up being simply magnificent; and it’s all thanks to Chris. My partner for dinner was running late, and while one waiter (who strongly resembled Chris but was not Chris) constantly pressured me about the arrival of the rest of my party and the time I would need to leave the table, Chris made it nothing but a relaxing, extraordinary experience. He got me a cocktail while I waited; then quickly got me a new cocktail when i realized i had ordered the wrong one. He was kind and extremely professional. After the stress of waiting for the rest of my party, his kindness was exactly what i needed. He gave confident recommendations and his wine knowledge was phenomenal. He was swift and delivered service at exactly the right moment, not a second too soon nor too late. He gratified every single request and while many waiters make your requests seem like a burden, he very convincingly made it seem as though there was nothing else in the world he would rather do than get me some extra olive oil. So while I did find the infamous lasagna to be slightly too dry for my likings, Chris’ service will have me returning to this spot for many years to come. I think it is especially rare to find service that knocks you off your feet like this. Someone give this guy a raise. Bravo Chris.

After trying Via Carota (another Italian restaurant from the same owner) and really enjoying the food there, I wanted to give I Sodi a go. Reservations were hard to get but I was able to walk in and grab a bar seat for one with only a 15 minute wait. The restaurant and ambiance itself is really well done, the wall of Italian liquor really stands out and the seating is all cozy and warm. The staff here is really nice and helpful also. On the food side of things though, I was a but disappointed after having such high expectations from Via Carota. The fried artichoke special was tasty but a bit overly fried. The house made lasagna tasted unique almost like a crepe cake, but was a tad dry and stale on the outside as if it were reheated. Personally I’ll stick to some of the other Italian places around NYC, but glad I still tried this restaurant.

Just like the mixed reviews on here, my experience had some hits and misses. The highlights: parppadelle al limone was so delicious; buttery and yet refreshing. The portion was pretty generous! The endive salad with apple, walnuts and goat cheese was also good. A well balance of flavors and texture and good portion size. The misses: the bread was a bit hard and the olive oil was so mediocre. The specials burrata with truffle was so small and a bit bland. The quality did not live up to the price of $29.

Luckily we got a bar seats within 1 hour, the food was really great, the pasta definitely is above average. We love the Parpadelle Limone and Faro salad, the salad is the prefect start for heavy pasta. Meat lasagna is a little too salty for us, ravioli is cream but not flavorful at all. However, the pasta itself is great! Also, servers are really friendly and passionate to explain the menu in the busy environment:)

We were able to walk in a get a spot at the bar for lunch. I think we need to try a few more dishes to get a better feel for the food here. The salad was fresh and simple. The pastas were good, but we ordered two that were too similar. Next time we will try something different.

Came her for lunch on a Saturday (in August) and got seated at the bar with no wait. They have a beautiful back patio but that was not available for a solo diner (understandable). Staff were great and the food was good. I ordered the cherry tomato salad, the spaghetti Chittara (which is their cacio e pepe) and the tiramisu. It was all very good but I can't say it is better than many of my other favorite Italian spots around town.

I know I'm in the minority but I was not a fan of the famed meat lasagna. Was too dense and salty. The branzino was good but not exceptional. Lemon pappardelle was very good. Skip the bread. Tiramisu was average.

What it’s Really like

Tucked into a cozy, rustic setting, this restaurant offers standout dishes like a fresh, zesty artichoke salad. So zesty it might still be photosynthesizing. Bar also offers an impeccably mixed mezcal cognac Negroni. The staff is attentive, adding warmth to the experience. While the peas in the short rib dish shine, the meat itself falls a bit flat. Still, a memorable spot for a flavorful and inviting evening or afternoon!

Loved this spot and it’s definitely small - so make sure to reserve! We tried a variety of their different pastas and although we wished the lasagna was a little more al dente the flavours were all there.

Ambiance is relaxed but classy. Skip the fried artichoke app. The burrata was fine but nothing special. The drinks were great. The papardelle limone was wonderful. The artichoke lasagna was good but nothing to write home about. We got the flourless chocolate tarte with ice cream because of previous reviews and it was good and hit the spot. I very much prefer via carota but would come back to try other dishes!

West Village Tuscan gem—I Sodi delivers straightforward, soulful Italian in a calm, charming space. Food was solid: the famous lasagna al sugo was rich with perfect layers (a must-try), pappardelle al limone bright and lemony, and fried artichokes crispy like popcorn. Pastas handmade and flavorful, though some heavier dishes felt a touch rich. Service was attentive and knowledgeable (great Negroni recs), but pacing slowed when packed. Atmosphere is elegant and cozy—white tablecloths, warm lighting, garden option—feels like a little escape to Italy, though it's intimate and can get buzzy.

Enjoyable but not my fav Italian in the city (or west village for that matter). Was only able to get a res for weekday lunch. The meh looked extensive but we only ordered the pappardelle al limone and lasagne on the menu. Both very good. Also got potato croquettes which were one of the many specials they had which I always appreciate interesting specials. Really like the vibes of this place and the outdoor/courtyard seating looked very nice if the weathers warm as well.

I enjoyed the food but not my favorite pasta in New York, a bit overhyped to me honestly. I liked the lasagna but Don Angie’s is better. The best pasta was the lamb whole wheat. I wish it was with non whole wheat but I think they chose whole wheat because the sauce is so dark in color. The pappardelle was also good. Pasta was cooked perfectly to my liking. The lasagna was a bit dry to me and i would prefer more ricotta flavor. The Cornish hen was okay, not memorable. It wasn’t dry but not necessarily juicy. Bread was horrible so skip that. Wasn’t warm and wasn’t good. Prosciutto and melon was delicious but hard to go wrong with that. Cocktails were basic nothing interesting. I prefer torrisi and it’s easier for me to get that reservation so win win for me.

The food was good! Definitely better than Via Carota down the road. The lasagna was rich, decadent, and well balanced (not too salty despite the mountain of cheese it comes with). The pappardelle al limone was decent. The noodle texture was good, but I felt as if the sauce was lacking a little. The fried artichokes had good texture but was lacking like a sauce or something on the side ( the artichoke itself couldn’t carry the whole dish I’m sorry).

Cute Italian spot with a large back room and an old school rustic look. The back patio is an extremely cute extension for the days with good weather. Pasta was good overall. Ordered the paccheri strascicati $26. More to come. Front person who seats you was a bit of a stickler as well. Seemed like there were open tables but he strictly wouldn’t seat people early even 5 minutes or put them near each other even though a bunch of walk-ins came in after. Understood that you can’t seat until your full party is there but seemed quite inflexible. Understood that your parties but might be able to sit together due to how busy it may be but when walk-ins with 4 people can come and grab 2 tables pushed together it makes you wonder. Also our tables were put very far apart with one in the front seating and one in the back. -1 star. Also they ask if you want bread but don’t tell you it’s $5. Still worth it. Overall food is solid. Excellent artichoke and pasta. The lasagna was enough for two people! Our waiter was solid.

Very cute and cosy wine bar-esque restaurant. Service is super friendly and very knowledgeable. Burrata and prosciutto were fine; nothing special. House bread I found underwhelming. Boring, wholemeal bread. My main took about 40 mins so the service is definitely slower than normal. The pasta was great, the sauce was a bit on the salty side but overall nice. The lamb was so tender. Nice wine list but the up marking is aggressive. $22 for my glass of petite arvine - the bottle RRP is $29 making the up marking almost 300% I wouldn’t mind going back and trying the lemon pasta or the famous lasagne. Overall good but didn’t hit it out of the park for me. Acoustics are awful it’s so loud despite the venue only fitting 30 people max

I had been dying to try I Sodi for some time. It was dreadfully disappointing. We ordered a special appetizer—fried artichokes. It was one of the worst things I have ever had dining out. So salty that it was inedible. The burrata was the tiniest, saddest portion for almost $30. I never complain about portions. But this is burrata. It’s usually more than enough for two people to share. It also didn’t taste local or special to me at all. Pastas were also mid.

Walked in on a Wednesday at about 5:30pm and got the last 2 spots at the bar. I’d been incredibly excited to try the lasagna here but unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. To me, it tasted like something I could make at home. We did also try the lemon pasta which was a step up from the lasagna, as well as the flourless chocolate cake. I recommend trying different dishes here, rather than coming only for the lasagna.

Pastas are solid though I think overall the experience is average at best. Reservations are hard to get. Pappardelle al limone: 5/5 (the BEST, def get this) Ravioli burro e salvia: 4/5 Lasagne a sugo: 3/5 Steak tartare: 2/5 Flourless cake w/ gelato: (2/5) FOOD Overall, I expected a lot more of I Sodi. I've heard it compared to other greats incl. L'Artusi and unfortunately this wasn't it. The steak tartare was extremely average and no one flavor popped out. The lasagne was also very average. However, our server recommended 2 pastas which ended up being pretty great. The ravioli was delicious and came with a great butter sauce. However, the star (by FAR) was the pappardelle al limone. I worried it would have a strong lemony flavor, but that was not the case. The pasta was also cooked beautifully - al dente has never been done so right. Truly a memorable pasta and the only dish that made the meal worth it. AMBIANCE The restaurant is small, cozy, and intimate. A great place for a date. SERVICE Our server was great! Had a lot of energy throughout the meal and gave us great recommendations (except for the dessert which was a total fail) Overall, not a bad place. I'm glad I tried to see what the hype was about, but probably won't be back

I sodi is a phenomenal Italian restaurant for the most part, but the over-saturation of finance bros and rich kids out to dinner with their parents does not create the romantic atmosphere one might hope for at a place like this. Also, very unfortunately, we got the lasagna and it was a big pile of mush - the pasta was completely overdone. Everything on the menu that’s simple and unfussy is incredible - thinking specifically about the caramelized onion tagliatelle. The waitstaff were great. Only leaving a lukewarm review because I know they’ll be fine.

Was excited to try I Sodi as Via Carota has impressed me on multiple occasions. I have to say I was disappointed on multiple fronts, however. I was celebrating an anniversary dinner and we had brought a special 1988 vintage thinking that they would have a corkage fee like many restaurants do. I tried calling all day and even DMd them to ask about their policy but they don't respond. It is their service attitude in general, it's just not friendly. Totally independent of the service the food itself was a 3.5 at best. There were also 3 small fruit flies on the wall. Many places are worth the hype but this one, don't be surprised if you're not impressed. Fried artichokes were over fried. Even their signature lasagna, imo was starchy and sticky. Definitely wouldn't go back.

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. It’s a New York classic and their new space compared to their old space (that use to share a wall with my apartment) is charming and still captures the NY classic dining experience, esp. in the back room. I almost always see someone here when I go but the staff is very discrete so I get why people come back. The staff are amazing hosts and know how to really serve a 5 star meal, however I’ve just been less impressed with the food lately. Everyone raves about the lasagna but it’s pretty meat purée texture to me. It’s good, but not phenomenal - perhaps a different style than I’m use to. Great for a family meal, you can usually put your name in around 5:30 and expect to wait around 1.5 hrs on Thursday - Saturday. Any later and it’s a 2+ hour wait.

This Tuscan restaurant offers wonderful Carciofi Fritti, delicious Oxtail and Caramelized Pastas and a tasty Meat Lasagna. Also, the Coniglio in Porchetta and the Chicken were very good. However, we were impressed with the Manager and our main waiter’s unwelcoming and rude attitude. I suggest the owner takes a closer look at these situations since it is quite easy to visit another restaurant in a city so full of excellent Italian restaurants.

painfully average. been waiting to try this place for ages and it really like hit and it didn’t. wasn’t salty enough, or maybe some things were too salty? i’m not sure. the lasagne wasn’t great, super heavy and dry. i expected it to be either more moist or more lightweight. the pasta was the best thing we had. the fried mushrooms were quite of addicting but yet still not anything to write home about.

I needed to re-edit my previous comment( made two years ago). Isodi was on my top list of the best restaurants in NYC, and I had nothing but good things to say about it. But going the second time recently after they relocated, the food changed drastically - taste, size and preparation. The mind-blowing tiramisu is now like any other you can find in a restaurant. The whole presentation and taste have changed. The size of the plates got smaller, and the price was the same… that is frustrating Got extremely disappointed…

Did i order wrong or is this place wildly overhyped? I forgot to take a pic but i got a salad (sorry i forget which, i was probably too focused on trying to understand why i didnt just go to l'artusi instead) and it was mediocre. I also forgot to take a pic but the steak was so fatty i feel like at least 1/4 of it was inedible because of un rendered fat. When a restaurant cant even render the fat of their meats properly it's like what are you doing honestly? The lasagna is so heavy i felt like garbage after eating only some of it, it needs about 1/4 pound more of that topping cheese to make it more palatable. The bread service is terrible... housemade bread was some of the worst bread i have ever had in my life it was incredibly dry and just hard with zero flavour. I like the atmosphere and the NA drinks are delicious. I skipped dessert here because i was so unsatisfied. On that note i have ZERO interest in trying their sister restaurant Via Carota. So disappointing

Had heard a lot about this place - but the reality showed very sub-par, lazy, and at times, inedible food. We started off with prosecco - was the kind of sweet cheap kind you would find in an airline lounge - and it was warm. (also...not cheap!) A starter of burrata and parma ham apparently consisted of no cooking whatsoever - a white place with a piece of burrata and a few slices of parma ham was what you got! We asked for bread - a kind of tough and dense sourdough that you'd be unhappy with if you cooked it at home arrived. For mains, things were looking up - one of their house specials, lasagne, was surely to make up for such inauspicious beginnings. Alas, not. What we got was a large square of dense and solid meat sauce, with an overcooked mush of pasta throughout. Bechamel? Couldn't find it. Parmesan? Couldn't taste it. It was perhaps the worst lasagne I've ever encountered. Where was the beautiful unctuous melding of loose and light ragu, sauce, and pasta with just enough bite to keep everything together? Nowhere to be found. We had one more chance - surely the Tiramisu would provide a last gasp of redemption? Nope. We had to send it back. To say it tasted strange, chemical-y, fake is to undersell it. It was a mess of strange tasting mascarpone, almost no sponge and the lightest hand with booze and coffee ever encountered. What a massive disappointment, and simply not good enough.

Rude staff, mediocre salad (zucchini carpaccio), salty pasta (lamb ragu special). Cannot even compare to airplane food, let alone Via Carota. The beautiful patio made the one-hour experience bearable.

If SMH were edible, it'd taste like I Sodi. When the restaurant's Resy page came across my screen with a new crown in the corner (making it easier for me to book a table), I figured I'd finally give this place a shot now that reservations weren't as difficult as rocket surgery. But color me disappointed--and put me down for Team "Not Worth the Hassle". - Pane e olio: I didn't want this, but it was ordered anyway. Their housemade sourdough was...very weird. Super dense, thick and chewy. Maybe I'm too much of a peasant to appreciate this kind of sourdough, but I do bake my own bread and this bread tasted like one of my beginner mistakes. Regardless, I hate that we had to pay $15+ for this gluten nightmare. - Lasagna a sugo: Supposedly their signature dish--but I can't fathom why unless over-salted disappointment is an aspiration in the culinary world. This lasagna tasted like someone spilled an entire can of NaCl in ground meat, then threw in some sheets of pasta to mask the mistake. There was little to no sauce, the cheese was mostly only on the top layer, and no other seasoning could be discerned from all that salt. The entire thing made my kidneys hurt. - Special pappardelle with lamb and porcini: I don't know if this dish had a proper name, but by virtue of not being the aforementioned lasagna, it tasted miles better. There could've been more lamb, and there definitely wasn't enough porcini, but the pappardelle was al dente enough. - Side of roasted carrots: Good, but who doesn't know how to roast carrots? At least they gave a large amount--it helped wash down the horrible lasagna. Service was fine but not particularly friendly, especially as the place filled up after 5:30pm. The space was the typical brick and wood chic that so many West Village restaurants have, but as with the service, it was lacking in warmth. Definitely don't plan to return.

I couldn’t have been more disappointed by the energy of the staff. We waited about ten minutes at the entrance before anyone greeted us, and when they did, it came with attitude and very pompous. He refused to seat us without our 3rd guest as well. He would’ve rather that table went unused rather than seat us. He was fake and arrogant, and even ended up arguing with another couple that night who were having the same problem as us. Except they called him out on it. Our server had low energy too, it was a robotic feel. As someone who works in hospitality, I really believe the goal should always be to make guests feel welcome. And let them experience the resto with excitement. The whole experience just felt inauthentic. No music, no real ambiance, and an overall tense atmosphere. The food itself was good but not spectacular, but the service completely overshadowed it. The person at the door set the wrong tone for the evening. I stayed only because I knew leaving would still cost me the Resy fee. People at McDonald’s honestly seem happier to serve customers than the staff that night.

Underwhelming from the start and disappointing to the end. Let me set the scene… - you arrive just before 5 to secure a walk in spot. They don’t let you know how long an anticipated wait is. “It’s a Monday” is what you get to judge. Ok sure… - you come back before 6 and wait to get a table. But you can only have it for only an hour. Ok sure… - order salads. They take forever to come out. Standard fare - then some sticky pasta dishes. Not the most flavorful, but whatever another chunk of time. Very underwhelming it taste and texture. Has it been sitting? And finally the lasagna comes separately for some reason. Intricate but again nothing special. Lacks depth and bechamel - the check comes on the hour while an entire free table is next to you. You’re still finishing your meal rushed… - you look around and every other table you started your meal with is on dessert. Finance bros and the retired (I guess the only patrons that also come here on a Monday) - you’re now outside. You feel ripped off. It’s your pregnant wife’s birthday. She had been looking forward to this and you can see her disappoint and tears start to come. Uber home to Brooklyn. Thanks I sodi

food was mid, you will def find better italian food anywhere else like bar pitti or via carota. aside from the mid food, services was BAD. i have never leave a google review before but this one is particularly bad. we sat down, there was no greetings. the first thing they ask is what do we like to order. One particular instance was I received a dish that was too salty for me. I made a feedback to the waiter and the only thing he said was “oh if i’m remaking it it’s gonna be as salty” and “i cannot do anything about it”. It was not even a sorry, or let me see if I can do. For a price point of 100+pp i expect more

Seriously? 4.3 Stars? YELP shows 3.5 with 441 reviews - this is more like it. The 3 of us had a 9:15 reservation that they were particularly prickly about - insisting we show up on time (which is fair) and threatening steep cancellation fees. So we dutifully arrived on time and then waited for over 20 minutes for our table - not a huge deal but certainly not offering the same level of respect that they insist upon from their patrons. We ordered cocktails to start. The waiter was perfectly friendly but would not let us order appetizers while we decided on our mains. You must order your entire meal at the same time, not just appetizers. We ordered a nice Barbaresco, the 2 appetizer specials, - a grilled Radicchio & Pecorino and another I didn't try. For mains, we ordered the Chicken Under a Brick, the Spinach Risotto and the signature Lasagna at the waiter's suggestion. The appetizer was fine, but nothing special, the mains were so disappointing. The Spinach risotto was a soupy flavorless mess resembling baby food, the Brick Chicken seemed to have been actually smashed under said brick prior to cooking. Every bite consisted of tiny broken slivers of chicken bone peppered throughout the meat making it impossible to have an edible bite. Then the "signature" Lasagna was served at room temperature. This might have been tasty when it was first prepared, but by the time it reached our table, it seemed like day old leftovers. Dessert was Meh too - Panna Cotta and Flourless Chocolate Cake. Sadly, the wine and cocktails were the best part of the meal. It wasn't terribly expensive by NY standards, but was still roughly $175 per person. This is a HARD PASS for the future. This is NY - you have to elevate your game.

Not surprised that the reviews are so low. Nobody ever answers the phone. The drinks are flat and poorly mixed, and the so-called “famous” lasagna tastes like it was reheated from the day before. Nothing about it felt fresh or worth the price. The restaurant has an attitude completely out of proportion to its quality. Between the mediocre food, bad cocktails, and dismissive service, I honestly can’t understand the hype. Definitely not coming back.

Hi, I am reaching out to provide feedback on a terrible experience I just had with your host tonight. I have dined at Isodi five times already, and the food has always been excellent and up to par with the highest standards of great dining. Tonight, I walked in, left my name, and was told it would be a two-hour wait, which for Isodi is worth it. However, at check-in, the host was simply rude to us and frankly far from what you would expect a restaurant of your caliber to have in terms of hospitality. After waiting around for we get the text and go back in. In good faith we made the mistake of telling your host we would give the table back to the next party quickly because we were only having dessert - which wasnt our original plan but we still wanted to get something from iSodi. As soon as we said this your host rudely scolded at us saying we couldn’t do that and that and that we needed to have full dinner. When i tried reasoning with him and telling him we waited 2 hours and would even be super fast about it (which i was trying to do to be friendly and nice and accomodating), he answered “well first if all you didn’t make a reservation- you put your name down. You have to do everything if you want to sit - full main course and entres. Ordering only something doesn’t work. A restaurant at your caliber should know better of hospitality. Its a shame to be left with such a sour experience because your staff does not know what hospitality for a place like yours should feel and look like. I would suggest you give your staff the following read to educate them: “Unreasonable Hospitality” by Will Guidara. Even if its your policy (which honestly for a place like yours just cheapens you), your staff should know how to communicate it and be friendly about it.

“A classic West Village Italian trap”. I had such high hopes when I brought my bf here, but the higher the hopes come with the bigger the disappointment. None of the dishes we ordered really stood out. The steak tartare was decent, but the bread it came with was overly toasted and hard to enjoy. Lasagna was the go to dish, classic, hearty, and clearly the most popular item in the room (almost every table had it). Still, it wasn’t something I’d urge my friends to try. Finally it came the final blow: the branzino paired with spinach. My bf and I love branzino and we ordered it almost everywhere but we have never had such a bad branzino! It was dry, flavorless, and outrageously priced at over $60 (which we thought it must be the signature dish of the menu- but we were so wrong!). The paired garlic spinach was even worse, clearly frozen and then defrosted, overly salty, and completely stale. All in all, this was a deeply disappointing experience. I’m honestly confused about the hype. Will NOT recommend this place to anyone.
