Opinions de Pete's Candy Store Albee Square
Feels like a local bar with an awesome stage for shows and improv. Plus a really cool photo booth in the back!
Some of the nicest staff in all of NYC. Wonderful people, small little room but a great venue + you'll see a number of amazing bands come through there. Great drink specials as well!
We came here for open mic night and had so much fun
Perfect Live Music Spot. The bar in front is perfect for chatting with very reasonable drink prices. Then the small live music hall is sooooo perfect for listening and they have great acts. I saw Brother Andrew play. I didn’t check out the backyard but only bc I was loving the music inside. 10/10 vibes
Beautiful interior and performance space. Must go just to view the historic motifs. Bartender was very kind and let me charge my phone as well.
Pete’s Candy Store is one of those classic Brooklyn gems that feels like a secret, even if it’s not. The vibe is cozy and quirky, with a charming back room that hosts everything from live music to trivia nights. The drinks are solid and reasonably priced, and the bartenders are always friendly without the usual pretentious bar energy. It’s the kind of place where you can actually hear your friends talk, hang out for hours, and feel like a regular even if it’s your first time. Love this spot.
Super cute place to pop in for a drink and hear some live music! I can see why they’re well known in the music community and would definitely recommend checking Pete’s out. Everyone Ive met & talked to is super nice! I’ve only been here for their open mics on Sunday but the vibe is always great. If you’re trying to do sunday open mic you 100% need to get there early, if you show up at 3pm on the dot you will definitely be towards the bottom of the list. I believe the list is up to 25 people and if you’re after that it’s a waiting game to see if people will leave and more time will open up. The “concert” room is really small so if you want a seat definitely sit there before the open mic/show begins. If performing in the open mic you do need to buy at least 1 drink, they gave us a ticket which you then hand over when it’s your turn to perform. Honestly my only complaint would be the tiny bathrooms.
Pete’s was on my “must-go” list for a long time and my visit turned out to be even better than I had expected. The idea of a bar with random live performances is fantastic. The service was friendly, the drinks were reasonably priced, and the grilled cheese sandwich was absolutely delicious. Overall, it's a wonderful place to spend an evening with friends.
Was here twice, once for comedy and recently for live music. The bar and venue is intimate and welcoming. There's a nice variety of affordable drinks and the bartender was attentive even when busy. I had a Kirin Ichiban on draft and a Hot Toddy. Both hit the spot 😋 The live music was nice too! The comedy wasn't all great but there were two comedians that made it worthwhile. Great place for a date or meeting friends. Will definitely be back!
We made a trek to Pete's on a muggy Saturday afternoon/evening. When we arrived ~5:45, there were just a few people there, but things really picked up by 7 when the band started. Shoutout to the solo bartender who handled the surge well until help arrived. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there!
Pete’s Candy Store is a great venue. It’s unique layout will remind New Yorkers of being in a train car with seating on either side of the room. Except that the walls kind of look like giant chocolate bars which is perfect for Pete’s. It’s a great venue to catch up and coming artists as well as bigger acts looking for an intimate space. There’s a nice outdoor area for getting away from the music or just getting some air. The bar is great, they usually have a couple of bartenders taking care of everyone and the drinks are great. They used to have a tiny kitchen making grilled cheese sandwiches, not gonna lie I miss those sandwiches.
When it’s not crowded, great for a drink and chat or bit of reading. Beer list and cocktails are good. Bartenders are attentive and friendly. Small performance space in the back is reliable to hear something new & potentially coming up (Vampire Weekend played one of their earliest shows here). It can get pretty crowded after a show. Also, comedy and poetry performances but haven’t been to either of those.
Pretty much the only bar i go to consistently. Music can be hit or miss but i always love checkin it out, cause when its great, its great. Staff is pretty nice, the bouncers have great vibes. Back yard is great for sitting with many people. Inside is cozy, but often packed on a weekend, also tends to get a bit fratty with the crowd. The music venue area is truly a gem and even if things could be better in there, I wouldn’t want them to change. Great spot
Came here for trivia on a Wednesday and loved it! Trivia starts at 7:30 so we got there a bit earlier to stake out a table for a group and there was plenty of seating! The vibes are great and there are three pretty large spaces for seating. The grilled cheese and chips are a nice touch and I was a huge fan of the hibiscus mule! The trivia itself was pretty hard but I'll definitely be coming back here with my friends to try again!
DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR PHONE. been on two separate occasions over the course of a couple months and both times friends have gotten their phones stolen and promptly sold to china. happens in the photo booth room every single time. management is complacent and will do nothing to help you. beware. WE WERE TOO TRUSTING
Horrible lack of service form Catherine - didn’t get their pronouns but damn. They sure didn’t seem to want to be there and made it customers problem. I get it, work sucks, but like you don’t gotta make that our problem! We were here to pay you and enjoy for time off work but they made it very clear we weren’t welcome. Bummer cuz Pete’s has always been a fave but i guess it’s been a minutes cuz things sure have changed with a bartender like that!
