Opinions de Shoo Shoo Nolita Albee Square
Love this spot! I always get the blackberry mojito and falafel plate on hummus. Everything I’ve had here has been good. And I like the ambiance. I haven’t been downstairs but the upstairs is nice, with natural light, and some outdoor seating as well.
Cute space and delicious Mediterranean food. The ambiance is much nicer inside, although the outside area is cozy, too. I didn’t particularly like the enclosed booths outside, as they felt very claustrophobic, so I wouldn’t recommend that seating option. The food was both modern and - at the same time - true to its roots. My favorites were the cauliflower Ceaser salad and the steak shishlik. The spicy mezcal margaritas, too 😋
Yep. The Shoo Shooka (the shakshuka) is a 10/10. The challah bread is everything, eggs cooked perfectly (I asked for runny), and the spices and blend of tomatoes is absolutely phenomenal. The cucumber tomato salad on the side was so fresh, so quality. The olives especially were so full of flavor. I enjoyed dipping the challah in the leftover olive oil from the salad, it had salt and pepper and mmm. Will 100% be back.
I loved LOVVVEED this place!! It was SOO cute and all the food looked amazing. We got the shoo shoo breakfast, and that was so good. We got to try the different spreads they offered and got a side of eggs. I would love to go there again, I didn’t feel full or have a weird feeling in my stomach because I felt like all the food was so fresh and healthy
There are endless positive things I can say about Shoo Shoo. The food is fresh and full of flavor. There's a wonderful variety from vegan to gluten-free to delicious meat and wonderful cocktails. The staff is so inviting the service is quick yet you never feel rushed. And a real highlight for me was the immaculate cleanliness throughout. Cannot recommend this place enough. I've been twice. I will definitely be back! Must try the Albert tea. Fresh mint with rose water and honey, the best!!!
now i don’t throw these words around lightly, but shoo shoo has to rank number 1 of best restaurants ive been to! went a few times so far and can’t wait to return every time! the atmosphere is beautiful, staff are fantastic and super friendly, and food is to DIE FOR!! we went yesterday and had the hummus (it’s a must), israeli salad, and the shakshuka (order it with a side of feta and avocado: trust!!) and it was delicious beyond words!! we’ve also tried their fries another time which are incredible for a quick bite!! easily could recommend to every person i meet!
I had a wonderful experience at Nolita! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. I celebrated a wedding lunch there, and the team went above and beyond to make everything perfect. Their attention to detail and warm hospitality made the day unforgettable. Highly recommended for any special occasion!
One word - LUNCH! Can't beat sitting in the sun for one of the best Shawarma pitas my mouth has ever tasted. If you like it spicy (I do) get an extra side of their green tatbila. Perfect balance of flavor in the softest pita (an NYC rarity) and the home made fresh green juice was on point.
beautiful restaurant with delicious food!! it was so easy to get a table for myself and my two friends the day of, and we were greeted with free shots on arrival!! the hummus and baba ganoush were divine with the warm pita. but the highlight was the burger with fries which was seasoned well and super moist!! the kebab was also paired with a refreshing salad and the three of us were full and extremely satisfied at the end. don’t forget to get some cocktails too!! they have a wide selection of classics and specialty cocktails, would highly recommend and definitely come again when i’m in the city!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE every dish of this place. It’s probably the best shashuka I had in life and even better than the ones I ate in Tel Aviv Israel. I like that they serve with the challah bread. The Israeli salad is also a must for every meal. Love the atmosphere and design and great to sit outside. Will want to come back to try dinner next time!
Omg, Shoo shoo! It’s such a lovely new(ish) addition to the hood. The design of the space is so lovely and inviting, and the al fresco dining is really perfect as well. The food is also incredible, fresh, and delicious. Their Moroccan mint tea is beautiful and has the perfect balance of mint and rose water. Superb!! I really loved the fresh warm pita that is served with olives, tomatoes and other pickles along with the hummus. Everything I ate here was just lovely and it’s absolutely one of my favorite new places in the area. The little clock out front is so charming and the design/typography is clearly done by someone w great taste. :) so chill and I love Shoo Shoo!
Very very good food. Went twice in a single week with different company and both times had very good meals. Labneh, falafel salad, all the fish - all very very good. Pita is yummy and very filling. Nice drink menu with strong cocktails. I will be back (and I'm a lucky SOB, so that says something about Shoo Shoo). And the staff and service is excellent, really truly, nice, happy, on top of it. Thank you.
Probably my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant in the city so far, with such a wide menu selection. The presentation of the food is incredible, especially the Marinated Eggplant. Our server was so much fun, she gave us a full breakdown of the menu and was easy to talk to. They give you plenty of delicious hummus and pita with any order in addition to what you already get. Highly recommended spot in Nolita!
So easy to make a res, most beautiful spot on the street on either side - I was so excited when I walked up and realized this was the restaurant. We were immediately seated, in a private outdoor pod (we didn't even request this!) and it was super private and the ambiance was perfect. Service was frequent and friendly - and the cocktails and food came out right away and were incredible. The baba ghanoush is a must! It was a charmed night, I will be going back again ASAP.
this restaurant surpassed all of my expectations. The food was absolutely incredible with each bite more high-quality than the last. The service was also great, and we ended the meal with a round of shots on the house! This place is perfect for groups, especially for their awesome heated 🔥 outdoor dining setup. Definitely a must-try!
The outdoor dining space was full of flowers and very summery. The dishes we ordered had Mediterranean roots, with some interesting twists. The branzino fish ball was my favorite. It cames in spicy tomato sauce with tahini on top. The tomato sauce in Shakshuka was thick, juicy and fresh, but the eggs were over cooked. So were the cauliflower crumbs in the Caesar salad. Most of pieces were deeply fried and lost the juiciness. I’d also expect them more crunchy, but instead they were more on soggy side. The kabocha squash steak was more watery than what I expected, but the squash & sage puree was delicious. Overall the experience wasn’t bad, but those interesting twists could have been delivered better.
Is a busy place, was completely full even on a Tuesday evening. Would recommend reserving. The food is amazing here. For appetizers for the garlic herb fries, good quantity and great taste. Also got the falafel, comes as 4 small pieces, good taste. For mains got the shak shuka, good taste, love the small salad they give on salad. Also got organic chicken shawarma, nicely marinated and juicy chicken. Great stop overall.
Me and my boyfriend went for Valentine’s Day and it was very good. We had the octopus as an appetizer and we had the meat kebab and the meat and fries. All cooked and seasoned very well. I 100% recommend going and also trying their cocktails since they really are out of the world. Service was amazing and the hostess that night as well was very welcoming. When we have the chance we will definitely go back!
Too good can’t even begin to describe it. The second you order a drink or food you blink and it was in front of you but in a good way. We had the hummus to start which was phenomenal. The pita bread was perfect and had “unlimited” refills which was great with the hummus. The shoo shoo cocktail was great for the both of us. I got the chicken schwarma which was incredibly tender and perfectly seasoned. Overall the this place was perfect between the service and overall environment.
I had the chopped salad with grilled chicken and it was phenomenal. Mediterranean is my favorite cuisine because I love the citrus profile of it. The salad was exactly how I envisioned with citrus flavors and the refreshing element of the cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes. I also added grilled chicken and it was a game changer! The chicken was flavorful and smoky without being too overly seasoned. The coffee was good, they gave simple syrup and oat milk on the side for me. Service was great!
I absolutely loved dinner at Shoo Shoo. Everything was so fresh and flavorful and the service was great and friendly. Nicely laid out, clean restaurant, did not feel crowded at all and they have a huge outdoor eating space as well. For starters, shared the hummus and baba ganoush with pita. For my main meal, I had the octopus from the starter menu and a side of roasted cauliflower. All of the dishes blew me away. Would definitely return!
Friendly place. Food is good & creative. Don't expect Italian food here. I had octopus appetizer it was excellent. The sauce made the dish superb. For main course, I order the schnitzel chicken breast cutlet with sesame crust and once again the sauce made it unique. By mistake the waiter brought out lentil with squash. The squash was grilled and slightly blackened. Not recommended. They have good creative cocktails.
My friend and I got an early dinner here. The SHOOK SHOOKA was flavorful, and I particularly loved their challah bread – so pillowy and served warm, making it a perfect dip for the shashuka. The dining environment was lively, with good service and nice decoration. This place is good for anyone looking for a vibrant dining experience with decent Mediterranean dishes.
Great atmosphere, service and amazingly tasty food. We started with sparkling mint lemonade and the tooty fruity. Both were great nonalcoholic options. The labneh, humus and baba ganoush were delicious. The hummus had a little bit of spicy peppers and they made it perfect. The pita was fluffy with the perfect chew. Then we had the branzino and kebabs. Both amazing. The pickles proved refreshing and a perfect palate cleanser. The side of cauliflower was crisped to perfection. We finished strong with mint tea and baklava. The mint tea was perfect
Went here tonight with some friends and it was fantastic! I got the chicken shawarma with a side of grilled chicken and it was delicious! We got a thing of hummus for the table and it was some of the most flavorful hummus I’ve ever had! Little pro tip, if you get the hummus don’t feel compelled to use it all on the pita they give you. You usually get extra or some other form of bread with your meal so you can use that to scoop up the rest! Definitely see myself coming back here!
Highly recommend this place. The food was spectacular- the tahini is a must and the shakshuka was delicious. Everyone loved almost everything - the schnitzel, the lamb, salads, falafel and hummus. The cauliflower was disappointing so you can skip that. The staff was nice. The only thing that surprised me was that they brought a single pita with the hummus which is clearly not enough for that dish and then they charged me extra.
I was introduced to this place last week and have since been back twice. It’s that good. I applaud Shoo Shoo for their COVID-19 accommodations for the cold winter. They have individual heated booths that are closed off between each party not only making me feel safe and secure, but also the other parties dining there. I had both dinner and brunch here and both are just phenomenal. Highly recommend the shukshuka for brunch and the schnitzel for dinner. The hummus is to die for but wish more pita came with it. And the fish balls were so flavorful, but honestly the challah with harissa and tahini was absolutely mind blowing. The owner is super welcoming and makes stops to say hello to each party frequently and was surprised that he recognized me from prior visits. You can tell the food served has sentimental value to him and has amazing recommendations on what to order as well as how to properly eat some of the dishes. Needless to say, give Shoo Shoo a try. You won’t regret it and in fact, you’ll probably be itching to go back!
What a great place! Delicious food, fun cocktails and great atmosphere. The lamb hummus special was fantastic! If it's still on the menu make sure you don't miss it. The chopped salad, grilled octopus and lamb kabob were delicious and highly recommended. And the sweet tea at the end was a great bonus. We even had the pleasure of the owner and chef come to the table to ask how we were doing :) Great experience!
Enjoyed the atmosphere! It was pouring raining when we went, but we were under the awning. It wasn’t as miserable as it sounds. The awning was large and felt more roomy than cramped. The servers were very kind and attentive despite it being miserable outside. The food was tapas style so definitely grab 3-5 plates if you’re sharing with 4 or under.
One of the best Mediterranean restaurants in nyc! The food was outstanding, starting with the hummus, simple, warm, and delicate to the octopus that was cooked to perfection, super tender and absolutely a must-try. The schnitzel was also very good. We discovered this place by chance, and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. And don’t skip dessert—the dark chocolate mousse was unreal!
Solid brunch experience. Extremely delicious food, fantastic french fries and good drinks. Enjoyable to go on the weekends, and would advise to reserve on resy ahead of time. Absolutely no complaints the many times I’ve gone here, and they recently opened a new location in the upper east side.
Update) I’d say it’s a solid 9.2. Res is not hard and food is always good. I’m a fan of the burger and the schnitzel. The arayes are also quite good aaand the chocolate mousse reminds me to one my aunt does for Christmas so touched my heart. The baklava was not my fav. (OG) I'd say is a good place to find group reservations (half of the tables are set up to be for just groups), highly recommend the burger. Their drinks are also quite good
My favorite spot in Nolita near Bowery. I went 4 times in 4 months! Amazing Mediterranean dishes and spreads. Delectable Schnitzel Fish and pickles. Nice Terrasse. Smiling staff. Oh and creamy mashed potatoes to die for. I don't eat meat but my friends said they had the BEST lamb on a bed of that airy purée :-)
I've visited twice with my girlfried and I think this is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the city. The chopped Osraeli salad is the best I have ever eaten. The schnitzel is as well. I have really enjoyed the shakshuka both times, especially the challah that comes with it. The knafeh is good too. Love the mint lemonade!
Loved brunch! We reserved a table for 2 and the service was super fast and the food was great. They refilled our water numerous times and asked us if everything was okay. The pricing wasn’t outrageous because the portion size was very big. I loved the harissa burger and sauce for both the fries and the burger. We struggled to finish the sandwiches and fries because it was a lot of food. I missed quality service in NYC and this place really nailed it. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back to try the lunch and dinner options!
Just the hummus and fresh pita bread merits a 10-star review on its own… let alone the outstanding service and killer entrée’s. Prices were average for the area and the meals are worth every penny! We ordered the chicken thigh schnitzel with herb fries, as well as the Fridays sandwich with sweet potato fries. Both were incredible. We’ll be back.
A great brunch spot in Nolita. We had seats in their outside cabins which fit up to 8 people. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Almost all of us ordered the chicken schnitzel sandwich which was one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I’ve had. The Israeli pickles with the sesame crusted chicken and zhugg was incredible. It also comes with fries that are nice and crispy. Some folks also got the harissa burger which was tender and juicy!
Cool spot we happened upon. I enjoyed the service at the bar and the food was delightful. Mediterranean/Israeli-like fare like warm hummus, fish carpaccio, and light salads were just some of the yummy items we had. Sharing menu mostly but bigger mains are available. I only had sharing items so I can't speak to the bigger food items. Great cocktail bar as well.
Food and service were both excellent. They have covered seating outside on the street with fans which was quite comfortable even in the 90 degree heat. The Iced Moroccan Tea that I ordered was amazing. Highly recommend this place. I will come back sometime to try more of their amazing dishes.
Excellent food from start to finish. One of the best hummus dishes in the city. Also recommend the octopus and falafel latkes as an appetizer. The chicken shawarma was very flavorful and accompanied with the perfect amount of pita. The only knock is the other entree came 20 minutes late (and it was a salad, so there is no excuse).
It’s was good but not really my favorite maybe because I’m not familiar with the flavors but everything taste delicious. So we got grilled octopus - the octopus was tender and not sure about the sauce I’m not a big fan of the floral taste I can’t describe the taste but I rate it 7/10 Then I got the Bronzino which is grilled too. tasty and lots of flavors. Portions is really good. The mash potato was my favorite 8/10 My bf got this fried chicken like a katsu with mash potato it was okay but needs a different sauce because the mustard with a hint of wasabi overpowering the mustard. 8/10 Drinks is 10/10 ! Super delicious The cheesecake and Baklava is my favorite 10/10 ♥️♥️♥️
I came to shoo shoo to celebrate my birthday! They have these cute outdoor booths that seat up to 8 and are heated. It worked out perfectly for my group. We shared a lot of plates and I have a few pictured below - Japanese eggplant, lamb arayes and shoo shoo kebab, all of the food was DELICIOUS and the service staff was also wonderful - constantly checking up on us! the drinks are also phenomenal, only thing is the shareables are more for 2-3 people, if you have a big group, I suggest getting individual entrees for everyone.
The service was friendly and on point. The food portions are decent, flavors/seasoning were good and came out quick. We had 3 appetizers to share and a harissa burger. No complaints.. It's a good spot for a quick meal. Highlights... The pita, man they were good. Lowlight... Had to have been the fries. Not terrible... Just thin stringy limp fries. Not a fan.
Shoo Shoo is one of those spots where the vibe instantly pulls you in—laid-back yet stylish, with such a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to linger. The energy of the place is just as memorable as the food, and together they create such a standout dining experience. We started with the hummus, and it was absolutely outstanding—so fresh, silky smooth, and bursting with flavor. It paired beautifully with the warm bread and set the tone for the rest of the meal. The fries and sweet potato fries deserve a special mention too: perfectly crispy, piping hot, and honestly addictive. They’re the kind of sides you keep reaching for long after you’re full. For mains, the lamb shawarma was excellent, with a distinctly gamey flavor that made it rich and satisfying without being overpowering. It felt authentic and hearty. But one of my favorite parts of the meal was the Israeli chopped salad on tahini. It was bright, refreshing, and balanced, with that creamy tahini base tying everything together beautifully. It was light yet flavorful, the kind of dish you could eat every day and never get tired of. Everything about Shoo Shoo—from the fresh, flavorful food to the great ambiance and attentive service—makes it a place I can’t wait to return to. It’s perfect whether you’re coming for a casual meal, a night out with friends, or just to enjoy really well-executed Mediterranean dishes in a space that feels good to be in.
I was with a friend a couple of weeks ago, I heard a lot of recommendations. The atmosphere, the service is very pleasant. We took tea with mint and schnitzel with french fries, as well as vegetables with zaatar. I expected more from the food, but in the end it was averagely good. The sauces were delicious, especially green, but the schnitzel itself is boring and the potatoes are not sluggish.
Although Mediterranean cuisine have never really been my cup of tea, this place was actually pretty good. I was very impressed by the selection of different dishes. We were there for a gathering, so we did this family style and it worked out. They didn't have a very big selection of wine, but it was suffice for our group. We made a reservation before we went, so there was no wait, that was also a bonus.
This classy spot has some great Mediterranean food. I really enjoyed the steak skewers and the chicken. They have lots of unique cocktail mixes and even have mocktails, so you won't be missing out! You should dress up a little bit because it is a nice restaurant, but nothing super fancy. The service was super quick, and they are very good about good allergies. The only thing was that there was no dessert.
The food was quite good. Service prompt and server friendly Despite making reservations we, a party of 7 were crammed into an outside Covid construction booth. Adequately heated there though, there was a waft of cold air anytime the server came by and opened the booth. So this probably detracted from the quality if our experience 🤔
It was okay. The service was kind of pushy, we were asked if we wanted to order food the second we sat down, no offer to go through the menu or if we wanted any recommendations. Kept pushing a second round of drinks on us as well. The food was like just okay, nothing super good but not bad.
