Opinions de Socarrat Paella Bar Albee Square
Paella was perfect! This is the real deal spanish Paella. The Socarrat (crispy, toasty, chewy) traits completes the dish' deep and flavorful character. Appetizers were phenomenal. Dont skip the desert menu. Marco and David provided an excellent service! They made sure everything was good.
One of the best parts of Nolita/Soho in NYC is that there are so many gems in the neighborhood that become overlooked. I'd have to say that this location of Soccorat Paella Bar is definitively one of them. This is a straight forward Spanish Tapas menu. The options are plentiful between options such as Croquetas, Pan con Tomate, Grilled Octopus, and quality charcuterie boards! Also with one of the best Sangrias in the city. Without question. Our server was quick but attentive. The atmosphere is intimate but lively. A great happy hour daily at the bar. They have been an OG in the neighborhood for quite some time. I'm glad to see that they are still rocking it.
Went for restaurant week and the deal is incredible. Our group shared the croquettes, brussel sprouts, chorizo, and shrimp as tapas. The croquettes and brussel sprouts are a can’t miss. And for our main we enjoyed the Socarrat Paella which was delicious. Churros were also enjoyable! Definitely coming back for Flamenco on Tuesday.
Arturo took great care of us and the food was absolutely delicious! Really recommend the croquetas, the paella arroz negro, and the delicious cocktails (we loved the Ibiza Breeze with passionfruit!!) 🤗
Fantastic night! Everything was amazing. I will definitely be back. The staff was attentive at all times. The paella was delicious and the show was spectacular.❤️
Nice and cozy place, excellent for a date night. Great food (Paella Socarrat), the waiter (Jaime) a plus and the dessert (Tortilla Caramelizada) it was the cherry on top. Can wait to come back with a group of friends.
Second time coming here and my boyfriend and I were blown away yet again. The service is so welcoming, the tapas are beyond flavorful, and moody atmosphere was perfect. Definitely one of the pricier date nights we’ve been to, but felt worth the cost. They have a decent amount of vegetarian options, yet I wish they had more for their paella (I get it’s meant to be more seafood based, but we loved everything else and can only hope they may expand a bit more!)
Evening out with the gals and this was the spot that we remembered with the yummy tapas. Ordered 4 tapas, a cheeseboard, and a paella (the Socarrat) to share. Ended the evening with 2 desserts. Literally stayed for 3+ hours just enjoying our meal after a long day at work. Our server (shout out to David) came around often to check in and recommend different plates. Overall, it’s a chill place to really enjoy our meal after a long day.
Great atmosphere and perfect spot for an early dinner. We were seated promptly. David took excellent care of us, explaining the menu clearly and offering great recommendations that we happily followed. Our favorite tapa was the brussel sprouts, but we also loved the potato cubes and bacon-wrapped dates. We shared the socarrat paella, which was very filling and flavorful. David mentioned the brioche dessert, and we had to try it, absolutely worth it.
I found this amazing restaurant as I was walking to another one, which was closed as it was New Year’s Eve and how lucky I was. This is the type of restaurant that from the minute you walk in to the minute you walk out, everything is perfect; the welcoming, the ambience, the decor, the service, the cocktails, the food, and even the goodbye! I was lucky to meet three amazing waiters; Sergio, David, and Maribel; what an amazing group of individuals; from their welcoming to the table, their recommendations, their hospitality, everything made this experience even better! The cocktails were perfect; the gambas al ajillo to die for and the paella was extraordinary! The manager even stopped by at the end making sure we had a good experience and even gave us a shot on the house. We will definitely go back to their flamenco nights on Tuesdays!
Spent some time having a late lunch here during the busy Christmas season. Service was perspective, no rush calm Our server David was understanding and soooo kind! THANK YOUUU. We had the Socarrat Paella x 2 and the squid in paprika! Yummmmy! Very very comparable to my paella experiences in Spain! Happy I found this restaurant thay has apparently been in my backyard for the last couple decades.
They made my mom feel so at home and celebrated during her birthday dinner, the waiter Diego was absolutely amazing and gave us the best customer service ever! Definitely recommending and coming here again just for him and this restaurant service and customer service oriented atmosphere!
Dinner was marvelous. Staff was great. They moved us from a high table of 10 to regular seating, not that it was so busy for a Sunday afternoon, but much better for my sister that is a little handicapped and us older people who don’t want to fall off a stool. The place was a little darker for my old eyes but the ambiance was nice. We went with the $99 per person which work out well as we all got enough to eat and some leftovers.
The Spanish food tastes authentic, the paella has the perfect socarrat, the rice is cooked beautifully, and the seafood is fresh. We also tried the croquettes and the Spanish tortilla, both full of flavor and nicely presented. The atmosphere is cozy, great music, and the service is attentive without being pushy. The staff explained each dish and recommended wines that paired perfectly with our meal. Great spot for a date night or dinner with friends. Definitely coming back. A true gem in New York for anyone who loves Spanish cuisine.
Honestly it’s not my cup of tea, but to be fair, the food is clearly excellent and the entertainment (the singing/dancing) makes it a special evening. The cheesecake was really good, I wasn’t expecting it to be warm, I thought it would be an American cheesecake for some reason, but that made it better. It’s probably more of a place to come if you’re American rather than European like me, but it’s still a quality evening out.
We go often to this place every time we want to feel the real Spain experience. Food is amazing. Service is outstanding. And the show is one of a kind. Prices are reasonable. Definitely a to go place every time we are visiting the City. See you again August 5th for the Flamenco show again!!! Let’s GOOOOO! 💪🏼🥰💃🇻🇪❤️🇪🇸
The paella was enticing however, initial glance the price seemed decent at 36 per serving. BUT there's a small print that we did not see - minimum of 2 servings. Why not just say paella platter is 72 - I am sure it would have tasted great and would have been worth the money. It was just too pricey for us and we were hoping to try it out. The Tapas were tasty but also overpriced. We found the servings to be lacking (mindful they are Tapas). Lamb only came with 2 very small pieces (most of the meat was not there). Service was okay. Waiters were very nice although 1 of them seemed annoyed when we inquired why they priced the paella this way.
Overall good experience at Socarrat. We came during restaurant week and got the $45 per person deal. You get a tapa per person and then you can share paellas, minimum 2 people per paella. You also get a dessert per person no drinks included. The food tastes good. The tapas were great. The paellas taste good too the only problem is that a lot of rice was burned. They put a very thin layer of rice spread on the very hot pan and it just gets dry and burned which is a shame. The seafood itself in the paella was very good. Desserts were basic but nice.
