Opinions de Sour Mouse Albee Square
Had a knee slapping experience here watching Karla Mellett smash the comedy scene with superb superlatives and epic puns. Loved Elle (I think her name was) Gabe Pacheco, Ashley and the Norwegian guy as well (forgot his name 🤦🏼♂️)Very grateful for this spot. Def gotta come check it out. Can’t wait to get back. Don’t be a sourpuss come to Sourmouse Sunday Nights 8pm it’s worth ittt! See u there!!! Also mad fun playing ping pong earlier to get the funny bone juices flowing. Love the vibes here.
Organized check in process, clean facilities, had good clean fun.
Sour Mouse is a great time! I've been coming here for years to hang out with friends and it's always fun Friends and I recently partnered with Sour Mouse to host a ping pong tournament as a fundraiser. They were easy to work with and very accommodating and as a result, we had a great event of almost 30 people I highly recommend coming here with groups of friends - whether it's a formal event or just a hang out. The space is great and with all the games available, truly something for everybody
The Sunday night bartender is very nice and sweet, she really makes time to have a good warming conversation with you and makes your drinks efficiently. 10/10 and they always have music to match the atmosphere calm chill no problems they know how to read the room busy or not
Sour Mouse is the best kept secret in NYC. I hope it stays lowkey. I love going there for billiards, foosball, board games and live shows, from comedy to jazz. It never disappoints as a third space. So cozy, plentiful seating. I will gatekeep this venue for as long as I can.
Pretty cool place. Nice games and very cozy down here. Good bar. Great game prices and overall positive staff
Such a fun place to go! Great for people looking for something fun to do in NYC that isn’t a typical bar or club — pool and ping pong are so much fun, and the DJs are usually fantastic. Been on a few themed nights, including a rap battle, and really enjoyed the live performances. Bar food was good, we ordered typical fried foods and they did not disappoint. Will keep coming back every time I’m in the area!
Back to NYC after her successful tour, my talented friends #Hannahrayteal and her great guitarist #SamPhelpsMusic have played two fantastic 3 set shows at the really cool club, Sour Mouse. (Please check Hannah and Sam on all music platforms) I found Sour Mouse Club, located in the Lower East Side of New York City, a vibrant and expansive social club designed to offer a unique alternative to traditional bars. Combining games, live music, art, and a social atmosphere to encourage genuine connection among its patrons, its a cool NYC kinda experience. After having the great blessing of enjoying the NYC live music scene, here's my impressions of what makes Sour Mouse Club stand out: The Atmosphere & Concept of this Club is obviously as a Social Hub. My visits showed that the core mission of Sour Mouse is to bring people together. It aims to bridge the gap of constant digital connection by providing a physical space for interaction and shared experiences. Game-Centric: It boasts a wide array of parlor games, including 8 regulation-sized pool tables, 2 ping pong tables, 2 foosball tables, board games, and giant Jenga and Connect 4; how cool. This makes it ideal for casual hangouts, date nights, or competitive fun. All while there is an entertaning band or DJ filling up the large venue with music. Art Gallery: Beyond the games, Sour Mouse also has an art gallery. The 5,000+ square-foot venue features curated local art, including a stunning mural by Indie 184, with pieces often available for purchase. Live Entertainment: There's a dedicated performance area where bands and DJs play nightly, offering a diverse range of music from jazz to blues to indie rock. They also host comedy nights, karaoke, dance parties, and other social gatherings like speed dating and book clubs. What a great concept! Spacious & Modern: The entrance to the Club is quite modest, so a highlight is the surprisingly large and sprawling space, which allows for comfortable spacing and a modern, chill vibe. Games: As mentioned, a huge variety of games are available. Tables are typically first-come, first-serve, with hourly rates ($25-$35/hour depending on the day/time). Drinks: They offer a solid drink program, including soju cocktails, curated beers, and hand-picked wines. Food: Coal oven pizzas are available for when hunger strikes. Events: Sour Mouse has a robust events calendar, featuring live music, DJ sets, jazz jams, blues bands, foosball socials, and more. They also host private events like birthday parties and corporate gatherings, with options to rent out specific areas or the entire venue. My preception of a "Target Audience": Social Seekers: People looking for an interactive and engaging night out beyond just drinking. Game Enthusiasts: Anyone who enjoys pool, ping pong, foosball, or board games. Music & Art Lovers: Those who appreciate live performances and local art in a relaxed setting. Groups: It's well-suited for groups of friends, colleagues, or even solo individuals looking to meet new people. My Overall Impression: My 2 visits to Sour Mouse Club were extremely positive, really appreciating this Club's unique concept, the variety of entertainment options, and the welcoming atmosphere. A fun, vibrant, and engaging spot to spend an evening, offering a refreshing departure from the typical bar scene. The emphasis on fostering genuine connections through games, music, and art seems to resonates well, go, have fun and a NYC kinda night!
I celebrated my birthday at Sour Mouse. I bought one of the birthday packages and I have to say JR and Deborah at the bar were fantastic the entire afternoon. Drinks and food were brought out on time and in accordance with what I purchased. I would say both of them went above and beyond what was necessary for the experience and I highly recommend them. The venue is really cool—great pool and ping pong tables, and some smooth jazz on Sundays. I had a blast and so did my friends.
Amazing bar with many choices of activities. Such as ping pong and pool or just sitting down for a drink. My buddy and I got lucky and they played live music! It was totally amazing but it got really packed. Not the establishments fault; just a warning lol. It can get packed for these events. But Sour Mouse is truly becoming a safe place for me to have a great time.
Sour Mouse is where I go on Sunday afternoons to listen to jazz. It’s free and thoroughly enjoyable. From 3:30 pm to 6:45 pm the music enthralls and is such fun. This is a billiard hall where there is a bar, food and lovely people. On Labor Day weekend the jam session was packed and so many open mic singers were there and the places rocked. I was thrilled to be there.
Love love love. Can't wait to go back for more. Friendly, fun atmosphere. Music that makes you want to dance AND actual space to dance. Dancing not your thing? How about some billiards/pool? Or maybe ping pong/table tennis? Or how about jumbo Connect Four? Nope? Okay, well, they do have plenty of seating for you to sit and enjoy. The staff were great, the DJ was phenomenal.
Had such a fun time at Sour Mouse on Tuesday. The phone / drinks were great bites to have before the free comedy show! The billiards / ping pong tables are reasonably priced & Sour Mouse has activities / events every night of the week! A great spot to hang with friends and meet new people!
Came to a meetup and appreciated the space. Didn’t try any food, and the drinks were fine. I’d come back here for a game night or other event, but it would need to be for a casual meetup.
Really solid spot to play Billiards, Table Tennis, and Foosball at a solid price for you and your friends. To get on a game table, it’s a QR code that you scan to join the line. You’ll get a notification when there’s an available table. The specialty drinks are really cute, and reasonably priced. You’re definitely able to order multiple drinks here, food, and pay for a table while not breaking the bank. The vibes were on! Everyone was there to have a good time. No sour attitudes. It was loud and hot inside, but you’re still able to hold a conversation without feeling like you have to scream. One thing to note! When they announce they’re closing. THEY ARE CLOSING. you’ll hardly have time to grab your jacket and go before getting yelled at again.
I came to Sour Mouse with a group of friends for a fun night out, and it definitely delivered. The vibe here is lowkey but has a club-like energy—dim lights, music, and a social buzz that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy. They’ve got a great mix of games like 8-ball, ping pong, and a solid selection of board games, so there’s always something to do. What really stood out is how every night there’s something happening—whether it’s live music, themed events, or just a crowd that keeps the energy up. On weekends, the place comes alive with DJs and social events that make it feel like a mini party. It’s a perfect spot to hang out, play games, and meet people without the pressure of a typical club scene.
This is more a "fun pool bar" than "good pool bar". Most tables leans pretty heavily, out of ~15-20 cues they have 1-2 that are somewhat straight and not wobbly, and the balls fall out of the pockets on several tables of hit too hard. Also the AC sucks during summer. That said, they have live music that's enjoyable, the bar is well-stacked, some fun other games and in general a pretty fun vibe. Invest some of the profits in getting your tables and cues back on track and this is a great place.
Came here w co workers after our service industry job. The service was horrendous. The bartender was so rude. I ordered a beer she didn’t even greet me. She just walked away to poor the beer I asked for. When she returned I asked her if she was ok, she said she was fine and that she remembered me when I ordered the same beer before and paid w a $10 bill. ( the beer was $9) I said no i gave you $11 before and I also work in the service so just “ making sure you’re ok” she condescending said “ I assure you I’m ok.” At about 12:26am they shut off the music and turned on lights and came to every patron in there and told them they were closed even though they close at 1am. As someone who also works in the service industry we don’t start “kicking people out until after the time posted” the bouncer came around asking us to leave at 12:26am HORRENDOUS. Won’t be visiting with me coworkers ever again or recommending to my customers at my nearby job ever again!!!
DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE for your private events. They charge a lot and double booked us with another event. Not cool. It was so packed in there and had to share the venue with another group when we had booked out the venue. Food was poor quality, burnt microwave pizza service was horrendous. Bar staff was not nice
Honestly this place is very unorganized. I had reserved two tickets to see a live jazz show they were having and when I get there, they have me waiting just to tell me that they had actually canceled the show and they didn’t take it out of eventbrite which is where I reserved the tickets from. How do you cancel something and still have it there as available? Makes no sense to me, I commuted from flushing to see the show and then they tell me they can’t do anything and instead ask if I want to buy tickets for some holiday party they were hosting. I don’t want to buy tickets for your holiday party, I came here for the jazz show…I wasted two hours just commuting to and from that place. As a business, please do better
