La terrazza è davvero gradevole, personale molto gentile e disponibile, qualità del cibo eccelsa!
Io e il mio amico Vincenzo, sabato 25 nov 23, decidiamo di visitare una delle tante bellezze del Piemonte. Passando dalle splendide vallate del chierese, arriviamo ad Albugnano. Siccome è ora di pranzo, entriamo al ristorante Gelsomino. L’accoglienza è subito all’insegna della cordialità, ci fanno accomodare nel salone, con una vetrata panoramica sulla vallata. Affidandoci ad una gentile e disponibile cameriera di sala, si decide per i tagliolini al ragù di coniglio “ottimi”, per secondo agnello con contorno di crauti, “ottimo”, come dolce, una torta di mele senza farina, il tutto accompagnato da un ottimo vino “albugnano doc” consigliato dal “sommelier Vincenzo”.
Buon Ristorante per pranzare in un villaggio tranquillo del Monferrato, soprattutto nella piazza in estate. Servizio molto gentile e attento. Il padrone prende l'insalata direttamente dall'orto! Freschissima!
Top quality, excellent service. There were four of us, we ordered the tasting menu, and what can I say: everything was excellent and the portions were generous. We didn't even order dessert because we were so full. We'll do it again.
We arrived late for lunch without a reservation, on a sunny Sunday with lots of tourists around (the nearby Vezzolano Abbey and its fantastic nativity scene are worth a visit) and the place was already packed. But within minutes, they seated us and served us promptly, with a smile despite the busy wait staff and kitchen staff. Agnolotti with roast beef sauce, braised beef with a side dish, and an excellent bonet (a type of pasta) were completely satisfying, and now that I'm writing (after a few hours), I can say that everything was truly excellent and light. A refined atmosphere and a glass of Albugnano completed our lunch, which was also reasonably priced.
What a lovely surprise this place is! My wife and I stumbled upon it by chance, after a pleasant visit to the Vezzolano Abbey, just a stone's throw away. Upon leaving, we said to ourselves, "Oh, look at this beautiful little village! Let's take a stroll. The village is Albugnano, which, to be honest, I didn't even know existed (my fault, obviously). "Hello: We didn't book, and there are two of us. Can you find a spot, maybe even under a staircase?" "I think I can find something better." :-D After a few minutes, before even sitting down at the table, in a beautiful, bright, and airy room, they asked us what kind of water we wanted. Interesting menu, not particularly long, but very nice, with traditional dishes, some with slight modifications, and a few off-menu items (the fried mushrooms, which my wife really enjoyed). Two appetizers, a first course and a second course, two excellent desserts, all washed down with a good local Barbera. Two excellent coffees rounded out a lovely experience, which I recommend to anyone who appreciates Piedmontese cuisine. Next time (because there will be a next time), we'll try the rest of the menu... little by little :-D
We were there today, October 31, 2025. We had lunch outside at the tables facing the town square. The weather was perfect. The service was prompt and courteous. The hot and cold appetizers were special and delicate in flavor. The tagliolini with hazelnuts were superb! The braised meat was exceptionally tender and tasty. The hazelnut cake with zabaglione made by them (like the fettuccine and the bread), all with an excellent local Bonaeda. I'd say I made a good impression on my four guests! Excellent restaurant serving traditional Piedmontese cuisine. The owner is very kind and immediately puts you at ease and makes you feel like family. The dishes are all delicious, from appetizers (hot and cold) to dessert, all made with genuine products, some even locally sourced. The homemade bread is also exceptional. The wine is also good, sourced from local wineries. Compliments to the owner for everything 👍🤗‼ Highly recommended 😁
Highly recommended restaurant! The view from the terrace is wonderful. The food was excellent and plentiful. The three of us shared a small platter of cured meats and cheeses and a portion of mixed Piedmontese antipasto. We were already full from these two dishes alone! We also had the hazelnut tajarin, excellent and highly recommended, the vegetarian lasagna with tomino cheese and leeks (the ingredients change seasonally, so this is a must-try!), and the sliced beef. We also indulged in the stuffed peaches. They're one of my favorite desserts, and here I think I ate the best stuffed peaches I've ever had in a restaurant! The wine selection was also excellent. The price was in line with what we ate and drank, about €35 per person with a bottle of Albugnano superiore from a local winery. Definitely worth returning for!
Typical Piedmontese cuisine, excellent mixed antipasti, homemade bread and rubatà, veal with tuna sauce, raw tongue, and the freshest tomini cheeses. Homemade agnolotti and tajarin, a slightly weak sauce... tender braised meat, beautifully flavored by the local wine that complements the surrounding landscape. Zabaglione from the Arabian Nights. Staff who know their stuff, highly recommended! A tip for the owners: if they pruned some of the trees, we'd have a stunning view of the entire valley from the dining room... The place is delightful. Ask for open terrace, good wine of territory, courtesy and detail in service. Food is delicious, genuine, simple and traditional, any food problem is considered and menu à la carte has choice for any diet. Albugnano is a jewel worth seeing..and tasting.

69€ per due, primo secondo,bottiglia di vino amaro e caffè. Siamo stati accolti benissimo ed educatamente, la qualità dei prodotti era molto buona, bella la vista ed a primavera inoltrata c'è la possibilità di mangiare sulla balconata con vista. Di passaggio dopo un giro in moto direi che è un bel posto per potersi fermare e rilassarsi per un pasto in compagnia.
Tipica cucina piemontese. Personale cortese, disponibile e preparato. Piatti gustosi ed abbondanti. Bellissima la terrazza panoramica. Buono il vino in caraffa. Buon rapporto qualità prezzo. Consigliato.
Pranzo molto gradevole. Non c'era posto in terrazza, mi fanno accomodare sotto gli ombrelloni posti davanti al locale. Il personale gentilissimo e disponibile. Ho preso un antipasto, vitello tonnato di buona qualità, e un piatto di Agnolotti alle tre carni con sugo di arrosto. Tutto molto veloce e buono. Ringrazio soprattutto la signora che mi ha servito, mi ha fatto sentire come se fossi un cliente fisso Rapporto qualità prezzo, direi molto buono
Nel punto più alto del monferrato si trova questo ristorante con cucina tipica ottime le acciughe al verde che vengono servite con crostini e burro ambiente rustico personale molto molto gentile.
I have to be honest, a group of friends and I booked a table at the Gelsomino restaurant and had lunch. The place looks nice, but honestly, neither I nor my fellow diners were thrilled with the food. The service was barely adequate, not to mention the confusing selection of dishes, from the tasting menu to the à la carte menu.
A restaurant with a retro feel, both in terms of the ambiance and the exquisite, traditional flavors. A very pleasant journey back in time, with friendly service and a genuine view. The dishes are truly delicious and plentiful. The special thing that amazed me was the portion of the bunet dessert: very generous and delicious. Excellent.
Ottimo cibo e disponibilità ad accoglierci senza prenotazione. Peccato per la stagione perché abbiamo visto un bellissimo terrazzo e speriamo di poterci tornare in primavera estate per il bellissimo…
I might have been unluckly, but I can't fully agree with all the enthusiastic reviews that took me to this place. Yes, food is traditional, regular food from Piedmont, but nothing out of the ordinary. And yes, the service is very polite though not always attentive, and the view definitely worth it, I concede this. It's what I would call "average" for a piedmontese restaurant, the menu and the wine chart have inaccuracies or omissions (like the year of wine bottles, for instance), the only thing really remarkable is the view, while the value for money is acceptable, not great. It's totally fine, just not good or exceptional.
What a disappointment! We had lunch on the terrace with a beautiful view of the hills and the mountains on the horizon, but the food and service were subpar. Two hours for two dishes seems like too much. The tajarin with mushrooms were good, but the gnocchi with Castelmagno cheese were decidedly too watery, and I honestly think they didn't eat much of the Castelmagno cheese. For our main course, the eggplant parmigiana was nothing special, and the lamb chops (rubbery) with baked potatoes were both barely warm (they looked like they'd been reheated...badly). After a wait of over 20 minutes, we ordered coffee at the bar. The value for money would have been adequate if the dishes had been of a different quality.
