Stumbled upon this gem in Del Ray. The Italian food was delicious. We got the bolognese and shrimp/scallop risotto. The food was filling and the drinks were great. Their happy hour was good as well. Will definitely be coming back!
Our first time in since it re-opened and we're happy we did! The Ceasar salad was LITERALLY perfect. Liked the bruscetta though the sauce was a little sweet. Minestrone soup was very tasty. For mains the chicken parm was delicious and the Rosemarino was nice. We weren't planning on dessert but when they heard it was partner's birthday, they brought out a lovely piece of cheesecake and a candle. Overall excellent service too! Will be back!
Had a delicious double Risotto dish evening and they were fantastic! Captions for the dish are located on each picture and highly recommend!
My dad and I traveled to Alexandria VA to visit family before they moved out of town. We decided to go to dinner and my family lives across the street from multicultural restaurants. We decided to walk to Rosemarino d'Italia since they were so close. We were instantly greeted and sat at a table that fit us with some extra chairs. The place has good atmosphere, waiters were very friendly, and their menu offers a wide variety of Italian dishes. We ordered vegetable pastas, fried mozzarella, grilled salmon, sauteed mushrooms, and alfredo pasta. All of the servings were full-sized. The quality of the food was fresh and delicious!!! I love their fried mozarella with marinara. Theyre thick like patties!!!! Their bread, olive oil +herbs, vegetable pastas, sauteed mushrooms, & alfredo sauce are amazing!!!! Try their bread with the olive oil & herbs its exquisite!!!! They also have wine which seems quite decadent. There was so much food that we took to go containers with us!!! We ordered I recommend everyone who likes Italian food or cultural food to go to Rosemarino d'Italia for great food and quality service. I will definitely be going back!!!
Wonderful little Italian joint. My son and nephew decimated a whole family size of spaghetti and meatballs. They were delicious! They spared no skill in making the basics, as well as the shrimp and scallops. Great date spot! Great family spot. Pricey, but very worth it. Will definitely be back.
Excelent italian food, which is not easy to find in the DMV. Nice, cozy neighborhood restaurant and the best service you can get. I have been coming to this place for 9 or 8 years before it was renovated, and it has never let me down.
We randomly picked the restaurant and the food quality was really good! Servers were friendly. We are going to be their regular customers! The seafood pasta with white wine sauce was great! I can’t wait to try different food. But tiramisu was a little sweet. Wish they put more coco powder on top instead of chocolate drizzle.
Modern space with an old world food vibe. Homemade pastas! Please try this place. It’s amazing. We ordered the ravioli and the amatriciana- both FANTASTIC. and the house wines were great! Also the Spumoni? Don’t ask. It’s gone! Came in late on a Monday fat and happy and left a little fatter and happier. My only photo needs a refill. Enjoy!
@rosemarinoitalia This quaint Italian restaurant is Michelin recognized for a reason! With 2 adorably aesthetic locations, this is a place that you cannot go wrong with visiting. 🍸 Brazilian persuasion: If you're a passionfruit fan this is a must! Balanced and refreshing. ✨️ Bruschetta: A staple of crusty bread bites and perfectly seasoned tomato and herbs. ✨️ Calamari: Another classic that's super shareble, fried perfectly! ✨️ Saltimbocca: Chicken on a bed of sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. The best comfort meal and great portion! ✨️ Amatriciana: A great pasta dish with classic tomato sauce. ✨️ Profiteroles: Another dessert that I absolutely love! Puffs with vanilla creme and chocolate drizzled on top. Overall, a truly fantastic restaurant that needs to be on your list. - IG @ SpicyAivy
Rosemarino D'Italia isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in an ambiance that whispers of cozy Italian evenings. The soft lighting, the gentle murmur of conversation, and the subtle aroma of herbs and simmering sauces create an atmosphere that's both elegant and welcoming. The star of the show: the food. Each dish is a masterpiece, crafted with an obvious passion for authentic Italian flavors. During my recent visit, the homemade pasta was cooked to absolute perfection – al dente with a delightful chew. The sauce, rich and vibrant with fresh tomatoes and fragrant basil, tasted like it had been simmering for hours. And then there's the service. Attentive without being intrusive, our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered thoughtful recommendations. They anticipated our needs with grace and made us feel like valued guests. It's the kind of service that elevates a good meal to a truly memorable occasion. Rosemarino D'Italia manages to strike that perfect balance – exceptional food, warm and inviting ambiance, and impeccable service. It's a true gem and a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic and delightful Italian dining experience. I left feeling completely satisfied and already looking forward to my next visit.
The service was friendly and personable. The food was amazing. The bartender—Brian—suggested a Sangiovese that I loved, and it was only $11 a glass. I got the chicken Alfredo plus mushrooms. Very fresh! Nicely presented and absolutely delicious. Cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended. My new favorite DC restaurant north of Du Pont Circle!
The lasagna and carbonara were both very very good. Service was excellent and atmosphere was on point. I wish they had bread service but the portions were so big that I was almost glad they didn’t by the end of the meal.
Friendly service and delicious food. The chicken piccata is legit the best I’ve ever had. The sauce is to die for!! Dimmer lighting inside would be better for the ambiance, that’s my only complaint is it’s super bright!
Our fav neighborhood spot. Never misses. Everything is fabulous and we always get the best service. 1000/10
Great little place in the Avenue. Friendly and good service. Food is always hot and out quickly. The menu has something for everyone. Traditional Italian and some innovative dishes. Good bar!
Love this restaurant. Came with a large group and they served us as if we were the only customers in the room. All recommendations were on point. Highly recommend the pasta Rosemarie! Apps were fantastic and hear the minestrone soup was phenomenal. Will definitely be back! Cannot recommend this restaurant more if I owned it!
I recently hosted a private happy hour for 30 at this charming restaurant. Eddie the owner/manager did a fantastic job from start to finish--coordinating drink choices, menu, furniture arrangement for good flow, perfect lighting for ambiance. This is a very pretty place. The food was fabulous. The staff was friendly and professional. Great experience!
such a cute little hidden gem in del rey! really excited to know there's an italian restaurant so close by serving up fresh pasta noodles. service was also amazing. everyone there worked as a team so we, plus everyone else dining at the time, were really well taken care of! i ordered the primavera and all the veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. so excited to come back and try more of their dishes!
The food here along with the ambiance of the venue is hands down one of the best dining experiences you can have! The staff is super attentive and welcoming it’s somewhere I always recommend to my friends!
Some of the best Italian you will ever find. Dishes are delicious, well proportioned, and extremely affordable. The happy hour is Monday-Friday with $5 beers, $7 glasses of wine, and $9 cocktails. Most pasta dishes are in the $18-$22 range, with signature dishes of chicken parmigiana, Marsala at $25. Appetizers are available for individual or family sizes. Lovely fresh and cozy atmosphere. Great for a date night, family celebration, friendly meal in the neighborhood, etc. What a wonderful place and a new Del Ray favorite.
Excellent customer service and great tasting food. We come here on a regular basis and have tried many different things and they have all been great. My favorite is the eggplant parmesan- so crispy and flavorful. Many other great vegetarian options as well. My partner loves their carbonara and says it is the best. They also always have specials for food, drink, and dessert that have all been amazing. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!
Been in Del Ray for years and finally tried this restaurant. I don't know what took so long. The inside is bright and welcoming, they have a tiny bar and a huge outdoor space. The pasta is where it's at! Homemade to perfection!
Welcome back, Rosemarino. We have been back to Rosemarino several times since they have re-opened. It is as good, actually better than it used to be and now they have a bar to serve delicious cocktails. This is once again our fallback place to eat, we are so glad they have returned to Del Ray. Pick a nice Spring evening and sit outside for a refreshing cocktail and one of their great Italian dishes.
Had the most amazing experience at this restaurant. Good food and wine was top notch. We ordered the salmon linguine and tiramisu. Would definitely recommend this place.
Excellent food. Lucy was our server. She was exceptional with assisting us with our meal. She made our experience very comfortable and welcoming,. We will definitely come back. Overall the entire staff were pfrofessional and friendly.
This is a great spot! They make a lot of their own pasta and everything is delicious. Layer on affordable prices and friendly staff and you have one of the best neighborhood restaurants in Del Ray!The seafood lasagna was really good The service was slow, as it seems they were understaffed. Not a fancy place, but the food is what counts with my taste buds and stomach. I am definitely going back for more. Oh, by the way, the calimari didn't last.
We have eaten here twice now, and each time I have ordered the carbonara spaghetti because it is just AMAZING!! I seriously think about this dish and when I can get back to have it again. It is the best Italian food I've ever had - hands down! The pasta is clearly homemade. Their wine selection is wonderful. The bread they serve before your meal is delicious with the oil seasoning to dip it in. We have not tried dessert here because we have been too full to do it. The servers here are very friendly and on top of things. Both times we have come it has been for birthday date nights, and it doesn't disappoint!
I got the Saltimbocca and she got the Mixed Seafoods pasta. The seafood pasta was flavored very well and the seafood was cooked perfectly. My veal was slightly overcooked, but the prosciutto on the veal saved the dish. It added a nice saltiness to go with the meat. Overall the food was good, but pricey. Maybe we only go for special occasions like we did this Valentine's day.
My favorite Italian restaurant!! Their appetizers and drinks are delightful and don’t get me started with the entrees. 10/10 and the service is phenomenal!
Ordinary environment, but great food. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was really good. We got the famiglia size sausage and peppers fettuccini pasta. It was perfectly sized for two people. The outdoor seating area is nice on a cooler sunny day.
I was pleasantly surprised to see happy hour specials on drinks with our house made pasta. I should have gone with the veal over the chicken saltimbocca but the kids loved the meatballs and pesto and my husband had a killer mixed seafood.
Loved the carbonara. Large portions (solo pictured).
We have driven by many times, finally decided to try and glad we did. Cute little neighborhood restaurant. The menu is a perfect size, something for everyone. The calamari was lightly breaded and fried, not greasy. The spicy marinara was perfect. We had the mixed seafood and the Rosemarino pasta dishes .portions are a nice size, lots of seafood, and fresh pasta. Delicious. Tiramisu topped off a nice dinner. There are lot of hard surfaces so it can be loud. Looking forward to another visit, maybe on their outdoor patio when it’s warmer.
The host were great. The restaurant is cute and has new fresh modern vibe. Very sweet how they’ve updated it for a tiny neighborhood restaurant. The menu is small which makes me hope the food is all fresh. We ordered the mushrooms for starters which was delicious followed by the shrimp and scallop risotto and bolognese gnocchi. The gnocchi was great, but it was drowned in the sauce. The cocktails were also tasty. We would dine here again.
Small Italian restaurant offering family style dishes. One of the better dining experiences Del Ray has to offer. When the weather is nice guests can select to eat their meal on their outside patio. The family sized portions are just large enough for two people to share, so a party of 4 would likely want to order 2 family sized dishes. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. They properly cleared the table between courses, kept our water glasses full, and provided excellent recommendations. Street parking is available, but depending on the time of day it may be hard to come by. Overall a great experience. We will definitely be back.
Dined in on the patio on a lovely spring afternoon. The three of us had garlic bread and Caesar salad to start, the mixed seafood pasta in white wine sauce, the ravioli in vodka sauce, and shrimp fettuccine Alfredo with all dishes being delicious and well presented. Service was fair, the atmosphere was nice outside and price was reasonable. Cute local spot that I’ll be back too. (Note every review starts at 3 stars and increases/decreases based on exceeding/not meeting expectations for the type of establishment)
We had a very nice meal for two. We shared an escargot special and each got our own entrées. The pasta special was very good, half of the grilled shrimp were a bit overcooked but the size and flavor of the dish were spot on. The same is true for the Veal saltimboca that we got, really good flavor but the Veal should have been pounded out longer as it was a bit over and slightly tough. Our server Rosio was great, delightful and friendly and hustled! The atmosphere on our night was a bit rowdy. I was surprised at the 3 or 4 bar patrons who were having too good of a time with the bartender as they were yelling and shouting their pleasure so much that it made it hard to hear our own conversations from the other side of the room in the front of the restaurant. We ordered a nice Chianti bottle which was also very good.
Rosemarino makes pasta, but my experience was not the best. The staff were friendly, but my pasta was very watery. It was close to closing time so maybe I just did not receive their best effort. I do not believe I would return.
Don’t come here if you’re in a rush. Came here for sit-down dining at 6:30 PM on a Friday. Solo waiter was nice and friendly. Social distancing was reasonable. From time of ordering; 20 minutes until appetizer came out and 55 minutes before entrees came out. Meanwhile, mobile orders seem to have came out every 5 minutes during that time. Two other tables who started with us seem to have waited the same amount of time too. Food was decent once it did come out.
Best mozzarella sticks ever! Kind of cramped and things like salad and soda are too expensive. The salad was a total rip off. Kids meals are too expensive and come with nothing... $9 for 3 raviolis??? I'll look for a new Italian place after this.
I am a resident of Del Ray, and I am generally hesitant to leave any negative reviews for local restaurants. However, I believe there is room for improvement in the food quality at this particular restaurant. I have tried several pasta dishes at this point, and I feel that I could replicate most of them at home with similar or better results. During my recent visit, a friend's dish was overcooked, and my other friends also expressed similar sentiments about their meals. I found that my pasta lacked flavor, and the added chicken did not elevate the dish (no flavor at all) Additionally, the temperature inside the restaurant was uncomfortably hot, especially considering the summer weather. This made the dining experience quite challenging for us. Most of us were covered in sweat after 1 hour of dining indoors. On a positive note, the servers were courteous and attentive. The overall experience was negatively impacted by the mediocrity of the food, the uncomfortable temperature, and the high noise levels when multiple groups were present. With all the options for Italian available in this area, I would go here last, which is a shame since it’s so close to my house.
Was excited to see this place re-open but experience was disappointing. Not that they promise home-made, but pasta was from a box and painfully overcooked (sticks to your teeth as you chew), cocktails are okay, appetizers brought out inexplicably (and unapologetically) with mains. My wife did enjoy her mashed potatoes but the saltimboca had no sage. Wait staff was attentive (why I have 3 stars) but does not make up for the uninspired food. And of course, a "can of tuna" meal ends up costing like caviar.
Food was quite good but the dining room is LOUD LOUD LOUD. The walls and ceilings are all hard surfaces with nothing to damp the noise. We sat way across the room from a group and could not avoid hearing every word every person said, and we could not hear each other at all while they were laughing loudly. This seems to be an increasing problem with recently remodeled restaurants. Tip for owners: a deafening atmosphere is not a fun atmosphere! Please - people want go to restaurants to talk, not to scream. Next time we will get takeout or eat outside.
We had a group of 4 at 630 on a Monday. Seated immediately, the server seemed nice but didn't make recommendations. We had fried mozzarella and mussels in garlic white wine sauce for a starters, which were good. All four entrees were very bland and the seafood in the chef's special pasta was rubbery. One of our party ordered a cannoli for dessert and the entire shell was rock hard. Probably better for a couple of apps and a glass of wine than full dinner.
This is a small establishment in Del Ray. I liked their appetizers better than the entree. We had fried calamari and mozzarella. Both were nicely done. Flavorful and not too chewy. I had the signature dish, which is basically a seafood pasta. The scallops were tasty, but the overall sauce was too sour and heavy. That overpowered the natural flavor of the seafood.
I ordered through Uber and had it delivered. The food was okay if not a bit coagulated. What I don’t enjoy is having to pay a $10 up charge for only 4 pieces of shrimp to add to my Alfredo dish… which already cost $18. It wasn’t even 5 pieces, but a measly 4. That means each piece of shrimp cost me $2.50. Can the people who work here even afford this dish with only one hour of labor in return?? I think not since most waitresses and waiters are paid barely $2 an hour and made to rely on tips. So pardon me for being upset that I had to pay $10 for 4 pieces. Definitely not worth the price OR the up charge.
Pretty generic Italian food. Uninspired sauces, overcooked pasta from a box. Caesar salad appetizer was also basic, no lemon, garlic or anchovy in sight or taste. Price point is Del-Ray-high for food you could get at a family diner in Fairfax.
I was really disappointed in this restaurant. I love going out in our neighborhood and we were so excited to see that this one had reopened. But the service was just really poor. We sat outside and for between 8 and 12 tables there was just one waiter. It really affected the whole experience and flow of the night. I hope this was just growing pains of reopening and they will bring the staffing up to full level soon. The food was fine. I enjoyed it but really wasn't wowed.
The food was okay, but the service was extremely disappointing. We were told they had sold out of bread, yet every table around us had bread. Ours didn’t arrive until we were finishing our meals. I waited over 30 minutes for my drink. I asked for two spoons and never received them. I also had to flag down our server for water after watching him walk past our table multiple times and ignore an empty glass. Overall, the experience felt inattentive and disorganized. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.
Ordered basic chicken parm and got what tasted like airline food. Mushy overly cooked pasta, dry, saltly but bland chicken and just a tiny amount of cheese. Absolutely terrible.
