I really enjoyed it. I went Sunday evening, happy hour all day long. I had the chicken sliders, which were delicious, very flavorful and tasty blend of ingredients. I had a modelo especial michelada to wash down sliders. I also had the fried cauliflower. It comes with limes and a dipping sauce. I didn't love them. I would have preferred if the cauliflower was fried more 😁. Overall, I would go bad and try more items on the menu. The atmosphere was pretty chill. The game was playing on the TVs but the bar wasn't rowdy. The place was clean and the service was fair.

The food was great, and the options were plenty. We had so much food that almost everyone walked away with leftovers. Which I love because then it's like a two for one deal. And yes, it was good the 2nd time around. We had a larger party, so the tip was already added in. It's pretty standard, so just be mindful. The music was a bit loud, so that's why the 4 stars. My guess is people loiter here. They've got lots of food and drinks and sports on TV, so I'm sure the loud music is to encourage not getting so cozy in the seats because with full bellies, it's easy to do. We aren't locals, so we googled the reviews, and again, it hits the mark. Definitely going back when we visit family in town.

This was an origional review for SHAKAS and NOT The Chicken Coop! Walked in not knowing what kind of restaurant it was. I ordered the 442nd plate. Came with deep fried chunks of chicken, teriyaki chicken, rice, macaroni salad and so much more. This plate can feed 2people, portions are huge! The restaurant itself is very quiet and is surrounded by large TVs. Lighting is very dimmed so it is very calm and pleasant. The menu has a variety of entrees for both adults and children. I would totally come to this restaurant! Super nice staff!

The chicken ceaser wrap with cheese and bacon might be one the best things I’ve ever had in a long while, I will come back literally just to have this

Had the margarita flight and I got to choose my flavors from 10 different flavors. They make there own fresh puree. I had the strawberry, hibiscus, and cucumber $32. Tried the mini loaded nachos they were very good. They use wantons instead of chips. I gave 4 stars because I didn't get to try other plates, but can't wait to return to try other things on the menu. My husband had the Rough Rooster drink which is not on the menu but it has gin and is very flavorful. It has a tangy/citrus flavor. Our bartenders Diego 42 and Luca were very hospitable, and very knowledgeable on drinks. Atmosphere was great, they had good music playing while having a great time. Restrooms were clean. Overall experience was great for a Saturday afternoon. Definitely will come back and bring our friends.

My family and I had a great time eating here that atmosphere was fantastic the food was delicious. And obviously due to the amount of people inside eating service was a little slow but worth it.

The chicken was good and the brussel sprouts were crispy and tasty. They give you enough chimichurry sauce which was flavorful as well. The place was a bit noisy but it is a sports bar. Service was friendly and fast :)

The menu is pretty expansive! Lots of choices. Great to share with everyone. I only tried the margarita pitcher (watermelon and cucumber) both delicious. They have quite a few different drinks too. Vibes where great. Can’t wait to go again and try something new.

So my sister and I went here on Friday night after a show we went to in highland Park.. we said we wanted a chicken sandwich but not from any ordinary take out spots.. so we ended here lol... well let me tell you .. atmosphere is on point .! They play good music 🎶 we didn't get any drinks but man do the drinks there look tasty 😋... will be going back to try more of the food items and get some drinks! Me and my roommate have been coming here for the past year and a half and every time we go, it never disappoints. The last time we went, unfortunately the person in the front wrote our phone number wrong so we waited a little bit more than an hour but when we sat down we ordered our drinks and our food and it came less than 10 minutes. If you get to the specialty mimosas, they only give you two flavors a round but the servers are attentive to your needs if you need anything else. Any entree that you get with your mimosa is worth it. You can even share some with your party and order more if you want more variability.

Locqtion is very nice , service was great food was 9/10 - I had wings (grumpy & sriracha apple ) the grumpy are hot if you like spice but not to hot , maple were good and alittle sweet but not as spicy, I had a chicken plate with salad and patatos and it was amazing, not dry at all! We also tried the chile sliders small but good ! Mac and cheese is good ! Nachos 8/10 need more nachos but there generous on toppings , party of 6 will be charge 20% gratuity, and if you split the check you will be charge the same amount . Lydian sorry if I spelled it incorrect y but she is amazing and has great customer service !

I came on a Friday evening so of course the place was full. Be as it may, I was able to be seated promptly. The staff are friendly and attentive. My sweet tea was quickly refilled when the glass nearly emptied. I was in the mood for chicken and waffles this time and they didn't disappoint. The chicken was piping hot and so crunchy. After I finished that, I moved on to the waffle. That buttery sweetness just delivers. The dining area accommodates parties of many sizes and the several TVs are sure to have your game on. They also have a full bar. I'll be back to explore the rest of the menu.

Great place for lunch, 442 is my favorite, or you can get the classic kalua pork bowl yumm. This way more upscale than the one on Garfied in Monterrey Park

Excellent! First time here but I'll definitely be back. Had the Koop Crispy salad and it was sooo good (: Crunchy slaw lightly dressed with crisp toasted sliced almonds, won ton strips and loaded with warm tender flavorful chunks of chicken. The best salad I've had in a really long time. Was surprised at how big the salad was considering it was a lunch special served with a drink for $7.99. What a deal! Service was super friendly and food arrived really quick. Highly recommend!

Met here after work, the drinks were really good, I especially liked the farmers daughter and the espresso martini wasn't too bad either. The chicken was pretty perfect too. I ordered chicken tenders to share with the table and wish I had gotten a whole separate order of the garlic fries. So good!

So so so good! The side chick was spicy and sweet. Sweet potato fries were super tasty too. Almost forgot about my michilada, super good.

I came in to watch the laker game and had a modelo, nachos and the chicken tinga empanadas and all was real tasty! Definitely will come back!

Very good menu there’s something for everyone. Underrated place

Really great chicken sandwiches! The drinks are great as well, I like how they place chili powder on the rim of the Paloma and micheladas. Customer service is very attentive, which we appreciated a lot. Definitely coming back.

Chicken Koop, you guys are THE BEST! I surprised my family and broke the news I was having a baby boy and they totally down to help me. My second time visiting The Chicken Koop after many years. The food was good. I really enjoyed the Chicken Pozole which was perfect for the weather and the appetizers were on point. The service was wonderful Carlos is an excellent waiter, with high standards. He made us feel welcome and explained all our questions.... Thank you for your excellent service. They have a bar with exotic drinks or anything you looking for. I asked for Pisco Sour but they didn't have it, but try Michelada for the first time and I really enjoyed it. Bathroom are very clean and the place have a big screen TV if you want to go and watch a game. I recommend it...

First time trying the chicken koop, and we came for happy hour. The michelada was pretty good, and so were the other drinks, and the prices were fair with quick and friendly service. The nachos hit the spot and were decently portioned, but keep on mind they are wonton chips, not tortilla chips. The tacos were also good, and so were the flautas. The atmosphere is good with high energy vibes, so I definitely recommend giving them a try.

I love this place! Haven’t come since the pandemic but it still met expectations! Our server was nice, though it took a few long minutes before anyone told us about the menu (QR code on the table) and brought us water. I always love the decor in here. So hilarious but bright and fits the name well! I came for the happy hour and the drinks were good!! I got a watermelon mojito (for some reason it had tamarind around the rim but i just used a straw to avoid it cause I didn’t like the taste). I also got the tacos and I swear I thought I was eating a fish taco with the way they cleverly breaded the chicken to appear like a fish taco. That taco was the best. The other chicken taco was way too dry. Their hot sauce has good flavor but is sooo spicy (I can handle mild spice). The garlic fries were amazing and didn’t disappoint with being heated fresh out of the oven, crispy, and the garlic sauce was sooo good (we even asked for extra and the waitress provided with no extra charge)!! I also really like their chicken sandwiches but didn’t get it this time.

Bomb dot com! Price is more on the pricey range. I ordered the chicken with waffle buns, didn't remember the name on the menu, something to do with "belly". And that was good. You got butter and maple syrup, and a side of fries of your choice (between garlic fries, regular french fries, and sweet potato fries). They also have happy hour, which lasts from 3-7pm, gives you $2 off appetizers and drinks!

This was my first time coming here. This place has a really nice atmosphere. Food was delicious. Pineapple Mimosas were real good as well. Only issue i had was service was slow. We had a party of 15 so i.m assuming it was just too many of us to handle. Next time I'll come with only a couple people. Other than that it was a great place to come to. Maybe next visit i can give the full 5.

Love it here good food and good staff. It's a nice place to eat. The movies is close by so if you are hanging out with someone and wanna get something to eat before or after the movies and you wanna go somewhere nice but not too fancy id recommend this place. Also one of my favorite meals is the spicy stir-fry. It's not an expensive place to eat but it's not low priced also.

I went around 10:30 pm. The atmosphere was nice, you had Kanye music playing in the background. The food was good I got the fries with cheese,gravy and chicken. The chicken was moist and paired great with the cheese, fries and gravy. I would definitely recommend anyone to hit this spot. I will be returning soon.

Came here for dinner with my wife and we sat at the bar. I had the chicken ceaser wrap and it's was pretty good. Unfortunately I tried to order wings first but had to change my mind do to a chicken resturant that serves wings NOT having blue cheese. Absolutely terrible decision to only serve ranch with the wings. That is why you're getting a four and not 5 stars. Oh and I didn't get one but the salads looked massive and really good.

Great local spot for a drink and meal. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The food is good, the service better and the atmosphere is friendly and cozy. The bartenders are great and drinks good. Had the garlic butter chicken with rice and tried several of their sauces which were good. Well worth a try. We will be back.

This place has really good chicken :) I didn't like the deep fried chicken breast as much due to it being a little dry, but the half chicken was really juicy all the way. Garlic fries were quite good. Not too oily nor too salty. Service was very friendly!

We went for happy hour, and they had a decent happy hour menu, but the food was just okay. My friends and I shared our small food plates, which included empanadas, sliders, chicken and potato taquitos, nachos, and popcorn chicken. I think it was a good time because of who I went with, but not so much the food; the drinks looked good, and my friends enjoyed them.

This place is nice. The chicken tastes good. I ordered the grilled chicken with 2 sides. Brussels sprouts and sweet potato fries.

Started off with chicken nachos as an appetizer. They were so good! They use wonton chips instead of regular chips and my gosh, game changer! I don't ever want to have regular chips again. Lol big portion btw. I ordered the cucumber margarita pitcher. It was okay. I'd rate it a 6/10. Next time I'll get the flight instead of a pitcher so I can try all of them. I also tried their chicken sandwich with a side of jalapeño Mac and Cheese. 10/10! I think their food looks way better on pictures. The garlic fries don't have garlic only a sauce which I didn't like. The fries didn't taste like garlic fries. Very nice service, good serving sizes, texture of the chicken was a bit weird in the sliders, will need to try this place again because the flavor was awesome just put off by the very dry thick almost rubbery slider. Poutine was very sharable, michelada was good although pricey and there was a pleasant texture to the breading of the empanadas.

It’s basically a bar that sells food. If you came here to eat you’re doing it wrong.

Resturant was decorated cute with a direct theme. Service was ok,but could use some improvements. Food had good flavor and seasoning, but luke warm when delivered to the table. The food did come out fast, but if cheese never melts says something bout what's pre-made instead of by order. Drinks were good. All in all a cute one time plece, but I wouldn't be sad if I never went back.

I had the chicken sandwich. My main problem with it was that the chicken was overcooked. The fries were okay. My friend had chicken and waffles. Again the chicken was overcooked. My other friend had dark meat, and it was cooked okay. Only professionals can cook chicken breast. A place specializing in chicken should know how to cook chicken.

I came here because there have seemingly been a hype in this place during the weekends, and also because there having been raving yelp reviews, however it it was good at best, but not amazing. The place is kind of like a sports bar kind of vibe with a bit of a modern look to it. There is a shared parking lot or you can park on the streets. They have their own private bathrooms, and they're know for their chicken dishes. I had their chicken sandwich and wasn't too impressed with it for its price (a bit on the high side), but their appetizer popcorn chicken was interesting, it had a dry rub on it for seasoning, is more like a American take on popcorn chicken (as it isn't a taiwnese chicken) Probably wont come back here again though, as the food wasn't too too impressive.

We decided to come here because it looked like a nice place and had good reviews. The food was subpar, for a chicken place you’d think the chicken wouldn’t be drier than the Sahara … the pulled chicken had good flavor but the chicken’s texture was like it was cooked 3 days ago.. rubbery and dry which is hard for chicken that’s in a sauce. The only one I thought was decent was deep fried one. That one wasn’t dry it was juicy and tender.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in all of Alhambra. However I can't give the restaurant the 5 stars it deserves because they have some improvements to make. Here's the pros and cons: Pros - Great drinks & prices - Excellent service - Tasty food Cons - The host and other servers do not know how to wear a face mask correctly so beware - Tables are too closed to each other and poor ventilation due to closed doors - Music is way too loud. It's a casual restaurant not a club! If they get better with the COVID guidelines and lower the music this would be an excellent restaurant with more customers.

only local grind tray was on point was the mochiko chicken! the deep fried spam only tasted like the crust ... short rib was not much amount! this place is more good for hangout... not for satisfying your hunger for hawaiian food

The spicy chicken sandwich was great and service was mostly friendly, but the waitress acted dishonestly, possibly to get a bigger tip. I saw that there was a $2 mac n cheese add-on for the sandwich and asked for it on the side. The waitress didn’t tell me that if it’s on the side instead of in the sandwich it’s $7 for a tiny cup of mac n cheese. It seemed like a ripoff but I didn’t argue about it. Then when I paid in cash, she didn’t give me any coins back in change (about 50 cents worth). The total price for a sandwich + fries ($20), and a dinky cup of mac n cheese ($7) + tip ($5) was $32! Again, the food was great, but the service and prices leave you feeling like you’ve been taken advantage of.

Everything is OK, except the dry rub sandwich. You would think they would have a good hot chicken sandwich , not particularly Nashville hot oil, but something decent. It's absolute garbage. Taste like they got Mexican dry Chile candy and put it in the sandwich. Terrible lemon taste afterwards. Drinks are ok, waffles and stuff is ok. Not bad , but nothing to wait in line for. Just make sure you don't get anything spicy here unless you like Mexican candy.

The Chicken Koop goes for a rustic look. The lighting is poor in the restuarant but the food made up for it. The price for the food is on the pricey side but definitely well worth it. The staff is the main reason why it didn't get 4 stars. As we walk in, there is no one to attend us. We wait until the bartender sees us and he tells us to choose a table. There are 4 servers around and it took about 5-8 minutes for one of them to say they'd be right with us in a moment. Our server left and didn't bother to mention it to us. We didn't see another server until it was time to pay

Mediocre Hawaiian food. Portion sizes here are small. They're stingy with the Spam size in the Spam musubi.

First of all the layout of the restaurant is pretty poorly planned. As you literally have to take the longest path possible to get to a table. But you can just walk right in to the bar and that’s pretty quick! That aside, we went on a Sunday which is happy hour all day but we were charged regular price for the appetizers that we got. You know something is up when they charge $2 to add an egg like you can by a dozen eggs with that. The chicken that laid that egg must have had like Voss water and ran free in the mountains for it to be that much. We were charged extra for something when the menu explicitly says that a half chicken plate comes with two sides and two sauces. We had to clarify with the waiter/waitress that it came with two sides as we were only given one. We probably should have checked the bill but we honestly waited there so long that we just wanted to get out. It took us 15 minutes to flag down someone to take our order and then 25 minutes to get our food. Speaking of the food, you might as well get a whole chicken from Costco cause the half chicken you get here is pretty average. If you think that if something was roasting for 25 min it be somewhat dry you would be completely correct. They give you sauce not cause the chicken tastes bland (surprise surprise it does) but also cause that chicken is so dehydrated even a dog won’t eat it. Speaking of the chicken sandwich, I’ve had veggie burgers that tasted better than this. This sandwich made me consider going vegan. It’s not hard to make chicken not taste like cardboard. Popeyes and chick fil a do it all the time with ease. Not only is it cheaper but it comes at a reasonable price. I would have preferred the nachos to have tortilla chips but they instead came with fried wonton skins which was alright but not the best. Would have definitely preferred something crunchier. The good thing is that you can catch most sports games but if you sit in the middle you might have a hard time seeing the screens as the lights do block the TVs above the bar. TLDR: charged like $7 dollars more than we should have and place has good vibes especially on weekends but food can be much better.

The food for each us was sub-par. I ordered chicken and waffles with eggs and bacon. The bacon was the best part... They charged me $1.50 for a little cheese on my eggs. The batter on the chicken was awful; it had no seasonings (not even a little bit of pepper) and it just tasted oily. Another ordered the taco sampler and said that the tacos tasted plain. The child ordered a quesadilla and fries, also plain. We took our leftovers home but we couldn't force ourselves to eat them... The tables are way too close together. We had trouble getting into and out of our chairs. The establishment would not pass Code inspection, especially for fire and life safety. Lastly, my glass beverage cup had old food (maybe ranch dressing) stuck to it. 🤢

Wasn't blown away by the food and the tables are placed way to close together to enjoy your meal and any conversation. All I heard was the people next to me jabbering. The chicken was basic and mac and cheese side was sticky, but mundane. The potato taquitos though were a decent appetizer.

I actually been to the location in Whittier and had the famous belly buster sandwich before which was delicious... so when I noticed the Alhambra location finally opened back up I decided to place an order for pick up. It was about 10pm on a Friday and when we arrived to pick up the food, my daughters heard the music and liked the vibe so they wanted to stay to eat in. We sat down after I paid for our original order. I can't lie the music was on point but the service was horrible! Took forever to get a server to take our drink order , not to mention the long wait to receive our drinks (not the waitresses fault I suppose) but what really got me was the fact that I was spending additional money to dine in because we continued to order, but when I finally took a bite of my sandwich I could barely breath from how hot *spicy hot* the chicken was! I let the manager know I couldn't eat it and he only offered to bring me a weird mango favored sweet sauce.. as if the maple syrup wasn't already enough sweetener to "balance" the spice! I am an avid restaurant consumer and if I do not like my meal no one has ever hesitated to replace it for something else on the menu more to my liking! This was the first and last! Even after I forced myself to try the sweet sauce the manager said would help I still couldn't eat it! Do you think the manager came to check?!? Nope! The waitress did, but she couldn't supercede her boss so I was left hungry and had to down my $15 drink just to survive the couple bites I took. Not even after the manager took my card a second time (once for the food $50 and again for the drinks $25) did he ask if I was satisfied with my meal. He literally wouldn't even make eye contact with me! And, I was being super nice despite the horrible service! I was so tempted to leave without paying for my drinks but I have much more class than that! I am an Alhambra resident and it's sad that he left such a poor reflection of the business that I don't think I'll ever go back!

First time, eating here and last. I love food I love to eat. I don’t complain too much however I decided to stop at this place just so I could have something to eat for dinner. I had a long day this chicken it’s just awful the french fries garlic fries were just awful. Someone needs to rewrite the recipe for the chicken batter and those french fries. The staff, however, were super nice..

Very disrespectful bartender and lack of service. I would not recommend any of my friends to go here. I will be warning my friends and family about this place. I'll take my money elsewhere

I ordered roasted chicken quarter with Cesar salad and a side of plantains. The rest of the food ordered was a spicy chicken sandwich, Mac n cheese, and taco sampler. My friend enjoyed her sandwich. She said it was spicy and the Mac was good. My friend enjoyed her tacos. I must say that the food does not look the way it does in the photoshopped photos. My chicken was cold. The salad was over dressed and wilted. Perhaps I should’ve requested salad dressing on the side. The plantains , though over cooked were delicious. Since I was unable to eat the cold chicken and soggy salad I turned the plate away. I got a weird vibe from the waiter. Then the manager came. It wasn’t that serious. They were asking me questions about why I was turning the food away. It was so loud in there I didn’t hear half the stuff they were asking. I could’ve gone without that entire interaction. After refusing the cold chicken, I ordered the fried popcorn chicken instead. I chose ranch as a dipping sauce. When that arrived the chicken was covered in a ranch or some mayo based creamy sauce and the other half of the tray had a bunch of pickles. They should tell people the popcorn chicken comes smothered in a creamy sauce. I hated my experience here. The “business owner” has a bunch of over exposed photos of food making this place look way better than it is. Do not believe the hype my friends.

Bald head guy was very rude to my nephew. Never again will we leave a tip here. Good luck with the place. The management should screen their employees better..... .... ..
