Opinions de Las Minas Amador County
Been here twice now food is pretty good. This area needs good places eat. Not sure I have a favorite yet menu is large so lots of choices. But for me so far so good and will continue to go back.
We've only been going here for less than 2 years.Food is always good , large servings service is excellent and prices haven't increased very much unlike everybody else's overpriced meals. They will be our go to restaurant from now on .
Food is always delicious, hot fresh and quick! Service is impeccable! Manager it's so friendly and helpful!
Extremely good food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Cannot say enough good things about this place, the only bad thing is it's so good you want to come back over and over... which isn't good for the wallet or the waistline! Make sure to call ahead and check wait times before ordering to-go, this place is popular and busy.
Its like going home to my mother's cooking. Everyone employee is friendly & the prices for taste and quality is awesome. Also it's very consistent I've been eating here for years & on a weekly basis. You won't be disappointed.
Out riding my bike and found this restaurant. My order was basic, crispy shredded beef taco with rice and beans. Everything tasted great. Service was great too.
I was skeptical about trying a restaurant attached to a gas station. We stopped for lunch and I had a decent meal. What I absolutely loved, was the amazing “gravy sauce” they make their. I typically lean towards a somewhat spicy salsa flavor. Yet this “gravy” was exceptional. So much so I have been back almost weekly to have more. I usually have the enchiladas which come loaded with full pieces of chicken not ground bits. Everything is fresh. But now I order my food with the gravy over the top and it is soooo good. You can order it on anything including for dipping your chips. The service is very good. As an example I came in to pick up my to go order. I saw they have added a mole type sauce to the permanent menu. I asked if I could taste some of the sauce. They were not able to give me a taste because they make the mole as you order it. Nothing is pre cooked or prepared ahead of time and I was impressed but then they took it up a notch. When they gave me my order, they made an extra enchilada with the new mole sauce for me at no charge! I was shocked and felt like I was important to them. Our biggest problem now, the mole sauce has that extra flavor that is so darn good! My husband now claims it as his favorite. I still am on the fence because I still love the gravy. Don’t drive by without stopping and trying something that is unique in flavor and tastes so good.
Staff is super friendly. I have never had any issues with my orders or food. No long waiting time to get your food, and it's always hot, flavorful and delicious.
Very large portions.....our burritos were very delicious, staff was friendly and helpful....I only wish they were located where we live...I would eat there all the time....definitely a hidden gem
We have been going here for years! The food is always amazing! The service is great, and its location is the best for our trip to our in-laws.
My new favorite Mexican restaurant!! So delicious. I've NEVER been dissatisfied here. The portions are great, as are the prices. Drive up window is a HUGE plus. I like to call in my order about 10-15 mins ahead just to ensure its ready when I get there, as I usually go in my lunch breaks.
We love the food and the service. It's right down the street from us. It's nice to have delicious food close to home. We rarely eat out, but when we do, this is one of our favorites.
We have been eating here for 20 years. We love the food, the salsa is great too (spicy!). We are very lucky to have their restaurant in our little town, even through Covid they worked hard and stayed open for drive through/pick up. Owners are there every day and very nice and friendly as well as all the staff!
Very good including chili relleno, fish tacos and other great food
We love this place and are sp happy to have fresh, hot authentic food! The customer service is great everyone was friendly and welcoming and our Flautas perfectly deep fried , not over cooked crisp on the outside and tender inside . This is definitely our new go to place!
Great service, good food. This restaurant is a real gem here in the local community. With there being limited options for dining it's always nice to have a place that meets or exceeds expectations on the list and without doubt this one is it. Family owned and operated the cuisine and customer service is always done with just a little bit extra attention making sure that your experience leaves you feeling satisfied and looking forward to your next visit.
I tried this place for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. It was some of the best Mexican food I've ever had and I've had alot. I had a beef taco and cheese enchilada and they were both delicious. I'll def be going back whenever I'm near there.
Great food! Don’t let the location deceive you being next to a gas station. The location is convenient, delicious, the staff is so friendly. I haven’t stepped into a restaurant in quite a few months because of all that is going on, but their drive-thru makes it easy! Their tacos are the best - highly recommend the carne asada and al pastor options.
I am fortunate to have a good Mexican joint like Las Minas near me. Food is decent, prices are reasonable for a sit-down Mexican restaurant (about $9 for a chicken super burrito). Best part is they do not skimp on salsa or chips when you order out -- that is a common complaint I have when grabbing stuff to go. As it's the only Mexican restaurant in the area, it can get awfully darned busy. You generally don't have to wait for a table, but considering the restaurant's small dining room, it can get pretty crowded to eat in! If you're not into a crowded eating experience, they do have an outdoor picnic area out by the rear parking lot. Above all, even when extremely busy, the service I have received from the folks there is superb!
The food here is fantastic. Sometimes I will call in an order to-go on my way home and it will be ready by the time I get from Jackson to Pine Grove so I can have dinner ready. It's always great and stays hot until I get it home. If you eat inside the restaurant has a huge mural on the wall which really makes it an eye-catching seating area.
This restaurant was recommended by a neighbor who has gone there over fifty times. We loved the food, my chili relleno was superb! Very friendly and we got there around 11am and our wait was very short. My husband loved the food so much he wants to bring our family and guests there to eat. This is our new go-to restaurant , I highly recommend it! My hubby wanted me to also add, there was so much food that not only are we stuffed but had plenty to take home to eat later. The price is also very reasonable and they gave me a frozen dipped strawberry topped with coconut as a Valentines Day gift. This was also a very clean place, including the restroom :)
Great food great price and was willing to wait on me because I was about 15 min late getting there. They even knew ahead of time I was running late and offered to stay. The food was so great to. Staff super friendly. Will definitely go back
Las Minas Mexican Restaurant is a wonderful, family friendly place to eat. My family and I have eaten her many times for many years. Rachel, Magdalena, and Judith are always pleasant and the food is great too. Today I had customized nachos. They had beans, cheese, grilled chicken, chipotle sauce, green salsa, and cilantro. They were absolutely delicious.
The price is very reasonable the portions are perfect and food is good quality but most important of all the staff are friendly and attentative! The drinks are really cheap here margaritas and pina colada
Great service and atmosphere. Authentic Mexican food from a Mexican family. Highly recommend, family friendly and great pit stop after a long day of skiing.
Pine Grove ... Where the hell are we I asked...pull in there at that Mexican Restaurant and I'll find out where you brought us. Well, I asked and the guy and he said ...you're right here. I guess I had that one coming, but I'll tell you what...I snagged some burritos and they were Amazing! Las Minas Mexican Restaurant is a five star restaurant ☆☆☆☆☆
The best stopover for a quick lunch or dinner en route Lake Tahoe from south. Tried the shrimp and chicken fajita on my last trip to lake Tahoe. Decent menu price and good quantity. Food was great and service excellent.

The entire family that runs this amazing place are gems! Kind, thoughtful and all around great people. The food is always good, always smiling faces. My brother once dropped $100 bill and Judith held on to it for over 6 months until he came back and asked him if he dropped it and returned it to him. That amount of integrity is hard to find these days. We have frequented this establishment for years while my mom, Deborah lived in Jackson and Pine Grove and are so grateful for the nourishment, integrity and love they have provided all these years to her and to us as we passed through. Thanks you so much Las Minas family, we adore you!! If we ever make it up this way again we’ll make sure to stop for some food and warmth 🩵🙏
It's a little hole in the wall place but the food is good and the prices aren't bad at all. Definitely worth a visit, the dining area is a little small but it was nice and quiet. The staff is very friendly.
Food was great. Taco Diner has large tacos and the bean and rice side had a great flavor. You get about half a cup of each side. But every taste great. Randomly came in after a hike. Worker were nice and environment was quiet. I enjoyed it.
Really good food here! This was my first time in, and the service was good, the food came fairly quickly, and was very good! I had the Chile Colorado plate, and there is absolutely no complaints from me here! I will definitely come back and try other options!
Calling ahead for pick-up at the drive thru is a great system! Give yourself 15-20 minutes usually. The service is great. Food is delicious!
Went there last night with a 7:00 reservation. Some of our party were late and they had no problem accommodating us. Even though they close at 8:00. Food was great and you can't say how great the service was. I will definitely be going back!!
Stopped in because I was on a mission and forgot to eat breakfast, it was going on 2 pm and I was hangry! So glad I did! Just ordered one beef taco but I can’t wait to go back because it was as over the top delicious! Friendly and fast service as well.
Excellent food and service. The carnitas is excellent here!
I really like this place. We grab it when passing through on the 88. The staff is always friendly and never have to even ask for things, they're already on it, whether more salsa or a refill. Food is also darn good, not amazing, but absolutely really good and have never been let down. I normally stick with one of their lunch specials, the burritos. Had a shredded chicken one last, and no regrets. Also, very reasonable pricing. Never feel $ gouged. Hope it sticks around over the years!

The food was excellent here. Pleasantly surprised. Nice servers and very accommodating. Ice cold beer too! Look forward to eating here again.
Their guacamole is probably the best in the county, their burritos are good and my mom loves their taco salad, and she likes their margaritas. The mural in the restaurant is beautiful, every time I go inside I can't help but stare at it. They also have a drive thru, I've never used it but I think it's cool.
We were camping nearby and were too tired to make dinner in the dark so we decided to head into town instead. I have to confess, I was not expecting much when we pulled up to this restaurant since it shared the same location as a gas station. Once the food came, boy I was surprised. The food wasn't fancy but tasted excellent and reminded me of Mexican restaurants I frequented growing up.
This restaurant has been in Pine Grove California for a very long time I've been a long time customer. It makes Mexican food for gringos, but it still has fish tacos.

Food here was very good for a gas station! They're separate but they're known as the gas station restaurant by folks that recommended them. We went inside because we were warned the drive thru isn't allowed except for Uber Eats or something. We asked but didn't understand what they explained. Something about not being able to order at the drive thru but you can use the drive thru. Whatever. Food was fresh. Flavor was good. Not anything unique, just good solid Mexican food.
Service was fast and good. In this places defense a lot of people have nothing but good things to say. Having said that, all the meet has a similar strangeness. It is all soupy. Odd for a Mexican restaurant that would generally cook it a different way. This gives the impression that all the kinds of meat are cooked and kept warm in the form of stew. Everything else was pretty tasty, I was just so put off by the consistency and nature of the meat (and we had a variety of items at a table of 4 people). All the meat (beef, chicken, etc) all had that stew type situation. If that isn't something that bothers you than you could do worse. I don't fault the staff, they were wonderful. This is just a conceptual cooking choice by the restaurant that really hurts the foods consistency and flavor.
It was okay at best. The service was fine and the atmosphere was ok, what you would expect from a hole in the wall place. We both had the molé enchiladas and they weren’t terrible but weren’t good either. Just ok. The beans and rice were pretty good though. Maybe I just have high standards being from San Diego. A horchata with no ice is $7 which is insane so I didn’t bother trying it. Prices are pretty high but in mountain towns that’s to be expected. Portion sizes were average.

Nice server, but the food was not for me. I had the fajitas. There was very little steak and mostly watery onions and bell peppers. The steak was tiny and kinda chewy. Friendly environment though.
Waited almost an hour an a half for 4 plates (we had to cancel our food because our friends were waiting) with no order because people that came like 30 minutes later got their food first (and they were more people)
**This is an updated review. 1/8/2025 What was once some of the best Mexican food around has now become some of the worst. I don't know if they changed ownership or not, but the food is now mediocre at best. Thier salsa, which used to be exceptional, is now not much more than a semi-spicy tomato purre. The refried beans are bland, and the rice is gummy and tasteless. I have tried several different dishes over the last 4 months, and the taste and quality has gone downhill dramatically. Fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, chimichungas...all now very bland. Such a shame as this was our "Go-to" Mexican restaurant for many, many years. Something has changed, and unfortunately, not for the better.
The worst Mexican restaurant I have ever attended. I ordered a beef quesadilla, which had barley any cheese, gigantic chunks of beef stew meat, beef in a Mexican place is usually asada. and tons of lettuce. My fiancé ordered a burrito, he received two smothered burritos, with gigantic chunks of beef stew meat as well. They serve super old cilantro also. Don’t waste your money on this place. Quesadilla pictured.

Do not go here! Extremely disrespectful staff. I visited with my spouse and our service animal. Despite a clear sign stating that service dogs are allowed, the staff immediately told us to leave unless we provided medical records—which is both inappropriate and illegal. This clearly showed how uneducated and uninformed they are about disability rights and service animal laws. Even though I had proof, their rude and confrontational attitude made us feel completely unwelcome, so we left immediately. Absolutely unacceptable behavior.
