I got the fish tacos because I like seeing how different establishments go about it. The fish was well seasoned, and overall, I had zero complaints about it. For dessert, I had the fried ice cream, and maybe it's just my memory of it, but I remember the shell being crispy. The shell on this one was kinda stale and pliable. Either way, it's not terrible, and maybe I'm being nitpicky. The service was great even though she was busy. Apparently, lots of people had birthdays that night.

I cannot say enough good things about the Plaza. We always try to make it a point to visit here when we are in Amarillo. The waitress was superb- calm as a cucumber, friendly and efficient with our party of 12. The food was excellent! Not a single complaint- all was hot, fresh and delicious. The beef tips and enchilada was beyond delicious! I would eat here everyday if we lived in Amarillo. There is something for everyone on the menu!

Travelling through town. Decided to take a shot based on good reviews. One of the best Mexican restaurants we’ve eaten at in quite some time. Best steak street tacos, salsa, tortilla chips and margaritas! Service was friendly and quick.

Loved it! I had the Stuffed Avacodos with chicked. My husband had the Tacos with Encinitas and enjoyed his very much! The service was fast and the waiter and staff were all very helpful and polite.

Good Mexican place in Amarillo. The queso was good and the enchiladas were delicious- I got the spinach and avocado enchiladas. They also have fried ice cream but I didn’t have room in my stomach. If I hadn’t been for lunch, I would have tried a margarita. I’d recommend this place.

We eat here every time we come to Amarillo. The food has never been less than spectacular, we have tried several different items on the menu, and have never been disappointed. The service is friendly And courteous. The staff is amazing and always happy to accommodate your particular needs, or preferences if you're needing to adjust the ingredients in the dish you are ordering. We honestly cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Simply the best dining experience in Amarillo.

Food was amazing, huge portions...one plate could have easily fed 3 people and that was with each of the three different plates we ordered. The drinks were just as good if not better. Also huge and well worth the cost. With tip costs was about $40 each, well worth it. We all took home doggie bags that will make up at least 2 meals each. Keep it up, well worth the trip. We will absolutely return with more friends and family....!!! 😎😎😎

First time eating here. Really enjoyed it. Big truck can get in next to the old Furrs. Hubby had the build your own enchilada plate and I had the taquitos. Suggestion: Less cilantro and a little more kick to the salsa Less lettuce and a couple more slices of advocadoes. A little too much peppers and onion in the charro beans. Bring flour tortillas to table with the meal. Meats were all great flavors and a real cheese sauce on the enchiladas! Rice true aromatic and no carrots. Think we will try that Chile relleno next time. Bathrooms and restaurant super clean! +++

This place was great. My wife and I had The Trio Fajitas and it was down and gone before we reallize. So I took the pictures of what it looks like after the fiesta was over. This is a definite place to eat if you are in Amarillo.

Newer Tex-Mex place. Nice decor, we'll executed, standard Tex-Mex fair with a few unique offerings. I had a double order of stuffed avocados so I could try the chicken and the beef (I recommend the chicken). The coffee was a lot better than expected. Friendly and attentive servers.

I imagine this location is always busy. Line was out the door Friday night. Chips came out warm-my favorite! We were offered additional salsa. Wonderful customer service and they kitchen loves to get the food out quick & hot!! Our Midwest taste buds found the seasoning to be quite mild but a flavorful blend. I ordered the chili con queso to have along with our chips and salsa, it was so good and full of ground beef. For an entree I got the El Taco, which is two enchiladas your way with a crunchy taco, I also opted for an extra crunchy taco. The enchiladas were great and as simple of a thing they are to make the tacos were really good too. For dessert I had a sopaipilla with caramel and cinnamon sugar, topped with honey of course. Completely satisfied with the entire meal and our server was great also. 100% recommend.

Came back home on leave and brought the man. Told him this was the first Mexican food place we had to eat at. Again, it was amazing. I get the extra hot sauce (not really that hot) to dips chips in. I really like how they offer interchangeable sides instead of just rice and refried beans. I got veggies and charro beans. Service is consistently prompt and staff is kind.

Such an awesome place to eat, Saturday night at 7 and got us right in. Probably doesn't happen every time but was really great. We met some family in Amarillo and oddly enough, this time Mrs. Flip Out and I ordered the same thing. We both tried the Chef’s Combo that had a Chile Relleno and an enchilada. I chose ground beef for both and a jalapeño cream sauce for the enchilada. Mrs. Flip Out had ground beef for the Chile relleno and chicken with a sour cream sauce for the enchilada. I really liked it; I had never had a fried Chile relleno before and it was delicious with the queso. The enchilada with creamy jalapeño sauce was an excellent combination and it was so delicious. I really liked it. Mrs. Flip Out really enjoyed her entree as well; everything had great flavor. We both ordered Charro beans, that had great flavor. Mrs. Flip Out liked the side of veggies. The waitress brought out 2 spicier salsas than the one that comes with the set up. The red salsa was spicier than the green one, but both were delicious. Mrs. Flip Out had a sopapilla and she said it was light and fluffy. If you’re in Amarillo, you’ll enjoy the Plaza.

The plaza is such a good place to eat. The food is always fresh and flavored great. I had my mind made up to order a quesadilla but I almost changed it for the salad pictured on the menu. Next time I am getting that.

We were in town for a trip to Palo Duro Canyon - had dinner and drinks here Saturday night. I almost want to make it a trip to go back. It is hard to find good Mexican flavor in Texas. These guys nailed it! Service at the bar top was outstanding, personable, fun, and the food was great - Guisado Monterrey, incredible!

We had been driving all day, our hotel was messed up and when we finally got it fixed and we’re going to get food everything was closing. It was 8:30, an hour before their closing time, we called and they told us to come in there wasn’t a wait. We were take straight to a table and given some of the best house made corn chips I’ve had in a long time. The chili verde was delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤤🤤 They were very accommodating and allowed me to get it in a burrito!! Our server, Maria Was very kind and attentive especially for it being the end of the day. I overheard the other servers around us being as equally attentive.

We stopped at La Plaza Restaurant in Amarillo, Texas while traveling from another state, and this place is an absolute must-stop! When we first pulled in, the parking lot was completely full and we thought we’d be waiting forever. We signed up anyway—and were seated almost immediately! The atmosphere was so festive and fun. Every waiter was wearing something festive, which really added to the charm. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful—such a kind, hardworking lady. She was hustling between all her tables and still took great care of us, especially our kids. She kept our drinks, salsa, and chips refilled, got our order exactly right, and made us feel so welcome. The service alone made this place memorable. We loved everything about it and would 100% recommend La Plaza to anyone passing through Amarillo. We’ll definitely be back

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. My perfect meal here is the beef fajita chimichanga with rice and beans and a tamale in red sauce on the side! The tamale and sauce really stole the show, perfect guajillo sauce! And the beef in the chimichanga was tender and well seasoned. Definitely worth a try

I drove in from Baton Rouge and wanted some tacos. This restaurant was right behind the hotel I checked into so I figured I’d give it a shot. I was not disappointed! Madai was my waitress and she provided excellent service as well as being very polite and friendly. The food was delicious as well. 10 out of 10, I highly recommend! Based on the food and service, I’ll definitely eat here again next time I’m in Amarillo.

Our food was fantastic. Our service sucked. I had to ask 3 times for a glass of water. Yes, I was with a large party (10), but it wasn't peak times and no one else had to ask for their beverage. I had to ask for my margarita twice. She just wasn't on her top game with me and a couple of other people in our party even asked what her beef was with me.

The Plaza has been one of our family's favorite restaurants in Amarillo for over 30 years. We love their food. We especially love the jam that comes with the cheese sticks. We have many favorite items including the stuffed avocados and enchiladas. The papas are also very tasty. The restaurant is family friendly. Usually, there are many people trying to eat there during peak dining times. The service is always good. Our only complaint would be that they do not take reservations which is particularly maddening when we have a large group.

The food here is almost always good. They are happy to cater to requests to omit or add certain things (like cilantro). The staff is knowledgeable and polite. With a quick kitchen, even in peak hours, you won't wait long for your meal. The atmosphere is very "touristy". It feels like it's trying to be the American idea of a Mexican restaurant. It's a bit much to be honest. But I will say that it is clean and there is plenty of seating. So over all, go for the food and the service. It's one of the best places in Amarillo.

Really extensive menu. Our server was attentive and friendly, she offered refills and to go boxes. The food was fine, I had the fajita salad, if you use the salsa as a dressing, it’s A+. I think the salsa would be great if it was warm/hot, as well, not just cold.

It was pretty good! I ate waaay to much chips, and salsa but man it was delicious. I also got the teriyaki chicken. It had rice with it 2 chicken breast, some grilled pineapple chunks, and a choice of a side. I got the Mexican papas. I was definitely satisfied with my plate. I ate it all.. ooooops lol

It's been a very long time since I have eaten here but I think the menu and quality of food has improved tremendously! I had the pork carnitas taco plate and it was so yummy!

I would give this a 3.5 if I could. Our favorite part was the flan. The rest of the food was okay. Our server kept disappearing so that was a bit frustrating when we needed things. Prices were reasonable and kids menu options were great! Overall it was a solid okay!

Decent food, but not amazing. Beef relleno and beef enchilada with jalapeno cream sauce was better than average. Chile con queso was just cheese sauce, not to our liking. Chicken enchiladas were acceptable. Chips were a touch stale. Salsa was good. Sopaipilla was OK.

My waiter was friendly prompt and had some great suggestions for sauces and drinks. He checked on me off and enough to see if I needed anything but never was a bother. The atmosphere is very festive and they have a huge dining area with a small bar. If you do have to wait for a table you can walk over and watch the tortilla machine, it's kind of mesmerizing. They serve you complimentary chips with a big bowl of salsa. My meal was out in less than 10 minutes and very tasty. I had two margaritas and they were reasonably priced. The only reason for a four-star instead of a five is that there was literally no tequila in them, mostly mix and Grand Marnier, I didn't get even a slight buzz. I even added a floater to my second one, But after that I just felt bloated as if I drink too much of something sweet and sugary.

The problem with the Plaza is they are just so inconsistent. One time, the food is great, the next it's terrible. We got moldy broccoli one and the server just said, "that's the way they are coming out today." The service is usually ok, but never great. They built a late horseshoe shaped bar, but NEVER use it, even if people sit in the bar area, they get all the beer from the bar next door, even bottles. If you order a side salad you have to tell them now than once to bring it out before the entree. Whatever you do, do not order the nachos. The kids nachos are trash... one corn tortilla cut into 4, with shredded cheese melted in the microwave. I got the deluxe nachos and it was just 10 tortilla chips individually topped with meat and cheese.

The Plaza definitely isn’t what is used to be. The quality of their food has changed recently and it’s disappointing.

I have never had such a bad experience as I did today eating lunch with my daughter. Our waitress was almost nonexistent. I had to flag her down to get more chips. I had to flag someone other than our waitress down to get us a to go box. Our food was delicious as normal but the waitress was not very good at her job. Sad because I love to eat at this establishment when I am in town. Her name was Claudia

The food and atmosphere is always great. The waiters and waitresses are generally really good unfortunately, today when our food was brought out the gentleman that delivered it instead of walking around to put my food in front of me, he stretched across my wife, rubbing his arm across her breast, not once but twice this is unacceptable
