We stopped in for our first time and tried the sugar cane filets, calamari and finished it off with the famous butter cake. Our server Ken was an amazing waiter with perfect etiquette! He took amazing care of us. It is very difficult to find a restaurant with excellent service and food. This is the place. I would highly recommend making this a date night cause your significant other won’t be disappointed. The butter cake is a must so be sure to save room. (Sorry we jumped the gun and started enjoying the sugar cane filets by the time we started taking pictures. 😂)
Sol Agave had a high rating and it deserves more than 5 stars. Very nice in outer appearance with a fancy interior which signals an upscale experience. Pricy menu so decided to order Chefs Famous Carnitas and Taquiza to share. Sol Agave is an exceptional restaurant. When the complimentary chips and salsa isn't the usual Mexican fare, you know the entrees will be special. The carnitas special was a huge piece of fork-tender pork with guacamole, sour cream, pickled onion, a sauce, two corn and two flour tortillas. Delicious! This is high quality, well presented, satisfying gourmet Mexican food.
I loved this place. The flavors and the portions were completely on point. So many neat and unique options available. Had a bunch of appies, and then the Brilla whic was a huge chunk of meat. The butter cake was amazing too.
Love sol agave! Went for a second time tonight and the food is always sensational! The chips and dip are to die for, and everything I’ve tried from the menu has exceeded expectations👏✨ The first dining experience was in their indoor lower light seating with smaller table sizes and it was great, but unfortunately tonight, we were sat in the add on room and had two larger groups around us, and unfortunately the acoustics of that room with the large groups made it hard to hear my husband well across the table. I totally get that dining groups can vary, along with noise levels, that is totally normal. I will always always be a returning customer, but was trying to celebrate my husbands birthday, one on one, and was tricky when we were a duo in a large group seating area. Best server we’ve ever had was 🩷Andrea, and drew tonight was great as well👏 will be coming back for my birthday this year for sure!
GREAT dinner! We have been to the one in slc and comparatively, this one feels more relaxed. It’s an unhurried environment even though it’s a FRIDAY NIGHT and they are PACKED! Got everyone seated fairly quick. The service (our waiter was Shaley), was amazing. We even asked to move seats at the beginning because I was cold and they were SUPER accommodating, even though seating was tight. We got the chicken taco appetizer and the birria tacos meal. Both 10/10. Also what???? Who has mouthwash in their bathrooms???! This is a must have on date night after eating tacos with onions. Such a nice touch.
Food was amazing the dessert was super rich in flavor, definitely recommend sharing. Service was a bit slow, server was hard to get a hold when we needed something. It was a busy Saturday night which is understandable. That been said, it was really loud so it was hard to talk a bit. Recommend making a reservation on a busy day.
The food here is absolutely incredible! The butter cake is also to die for and just melts in you mouth! Amanda is the absolute best and made sure we got whatever we needed! Will definitely be coming back!
Our new favorite restaurant. The food is really really good with healthy portions. The atmosphere is intimate. Our server Letta did a great job with recommendations and making sure we had an awesome experience.
10/10 as always!! One of my fave restaurants. The butter cake is fantastic & the sugar cane filet is absolutely amazing!! SHALEY was great!
The food here is so good. I love the Taco de Hongo, my husband loves the Carnitas. Last night I tried the Tampiquena for the first time--the steak is so tender and the jalapeno cream soup on the side is so complex and flavorful. Or server, Olivia, was kind and communicative throughout the entire evening, and brought us another serving of chips and beans when our entrees were taking longer than she'd anticipated. We love celebrating here! The bathrooms are equipped with mouthwash--I love this little extra touch! My one and only complaint is that the floors are extremely slippery in this restaurant. I nearly sprained an ankle walking in my wedges! Choose your footwear wisely. :)
The chili rellenos were out of this world! Loved the lobster enchiladas as well. Plz do ur self a favor & Get the Butter cake 🤤 Service and atmosphere were top notch. We’ll definitely be back!
LETTI our server was so attentive and on it!!! We have a little toddler and she brought out food and drink for her immediately. She also recommended great options for our meal.
Ken was great! He made sure that my gluten allergy was taken care of and helped us out right off the bat! 10/10 recommend!
Sol Agave has the best salsa I’ve ever had. Hands down. Also amazing service! Camila is a fantastic server.
Sergio, the general manager, along with bartenders Kiera and Ben, took incredible care of us. The service, atmosphere, and energy were all top-tier. The ribeye was absolutely phenomenal and the butter cake was to die for. Seriously can’t recommend this place enough. Huge thanks to Sergio, Ben, and Kiera — would 100% go again!
I went here with my coworkers for a work dinner and it was lovely! The food did take awhile to come out, which was not normal, one of my coworkers who frequents this restaurant stated. I enjoyed ALL the food I tried. The Butter Cake did not disappoint and everyone I spoke to stated I had to get it while I was there. The Chile Verde was delicious as well! The margaritas are fun ♥️ will for sure be returning!
Sol Agave is authentic, yummy, and has an incredible atmosphere. It’s more than just another Mexican food joint, it is special. The staff is attentive and friendly. Our favorite is Alejo who goes above and beyond.
Our favorite date night!! Food is excellent and service is always great. Lately we love getting the enchiladas de longosta, (THE SAUCE IS TO DIE FOR), carnitas or the sol agave bowl! And of course the butter cake is non negotiable everytime we come. Sugar Cane Filets are great to share or just as a meal. Shout out to Amanda for taking such good care of us on a very busy night! ⭐️Food: 10/10 ⭐️Service: Great ⭐️Atmosphere: Super inviting and cozy space! Great indoor and outdoor seating. Lot of parking and easy to access. ⭐️Value: One of our favorite and frequent dinner spots. They never fail us!
Alejandro was amazing! This was our first time at Sol Agave and he did a fabulous job with his recommendations. Definitely save room for the Butter-Cake. We can’t wait to come back and try the other items Alejando recommended.
Visit #1 Food was amazing! And our Server Letti was so sweet and attentive to our needs Visit #2 Amanda was the best she kept my drink full the entire time!!! 👏🏻
I ordered the sugar cane filets (filet medallions on mango rice) as per our server’s (Jasna) suggestion. It was absolutely delicious! Our service was quick, efficient and the atmosphere was delightful. Big thumbs up!
Mmmmmmm!!!! They do such a beautiful job with the flavor profiles of their dishes. The vegetarian spinach enchiladas are delicious. The steak appetizer is yum. Whatever you do, you’re gonna have to save room for the butter cake. It’s not to be missed. Yummy, buttery, hot dense cake topped with creamy vanilla ice cream. Incredible.
Very grateful for Guisseppes service and how he made my mom’s birthday special! Butter cake is an absolute must, it is to die for. Be warned things are a little spicy, which was very good! Very happy with our experience!
We had the best night and Dominika was adorable! We didn’t realize that they closed at 9PM and were talking until 9:55pm!!!! They came over and told us they were closed. We felt awful! I can’t believe they let us stay for so long. Everyone was so nice and the food was incredible!
The service was outstanding but good service isn’t enough if the food isn’t amazing. And it was! The butter cake was the star and the tampiqeña were really good. The jalapeño cream soup was definitely something new. Shaley and Juan were very attentive!
We had a wonderful dinner—the food was delicious, and our waiter, Ken, was outstanding! Everything we ordered was excellent, but I want to give a quick shout-out about the lobster enchiladas. While flavorful, they did contain small shell pieces, which my son didn’t enjoy and which could be a choking hazard. When I mentioned it, the staff said it was normal, but since the menu doesn’t note this, it might be helpful for them to add a disclaimer. Other than that, everything else we ordered was absolutely delicious.
Jonah P was our waiter and he did an amazing job sharing the menu and the top choices with us! He made our anniversary that much better! Thank you Jonah for making our night special!!!
So delicious! The food was amazing. Our server was amazing and so helpful when ordering, it was my first time. We ordered several things to share: sugar cane filet, pork belly bites, taquiza with birria, cazuela de queso, and "our famous" carnitias. My favorites were the sugar cane filet and cazuela de queso. We also ordered a butter cake, that was also very good! The ice cream was just perfect with it. I would definitely recommend a reservation, we had one and only waited a couple of minutes for a table to be ready with a group of 5.
Celebrated here for my birthday and it was fantastic. The butter cake is delicious, the staff is attentive, and the food is amazing. Always a good experience!
I am a huge foodie and Utah has a great food scene. This is one of the best restaurants I have found in this area and I would recommend it to anyone! Had a really enjoyable experience with Audra. Will absolutely return.
Sol Agave is our favorite place to get Mexican food! We love that the chips and salsa also come with beans. The star is the butter cake! Sooo tasty and the best texture! Lucas was a great server tonight and patient. We'll keep coming back!
It was mine and my husband’s third time here and this time we came for our anniversary. Alejo took great care of us. He refilled our drinks constantly, checked if we wanted more chips and salsa, and went above and beyond to make sure that our meal was perfect! We constantly do and will continue to recommend Sol Agave to our friends!
Food was good, service was fantastic. Guseppe was our server and he did extremely well. We ordered the sugar cane filet appetizer, NY steak fajitas, filet steak enchiladas, a couple mock-tails, and a tres leches horchata dessert. For Utah county this place is amazing. Will come back to try the butter cake!
Diego was a great server. Excellent service and food. Butter cake was amazing. We had the lobster enchiladas and land. It was both delicious.
Sol Agave in AmFork exceeds my expectations every time we dine here! The atmosphere is wonderful, the service is so so good, and I don't even know how to properly express how amazing the food is. We always have such good service with all employees, but Augustin took fantastic care of us tonight! He gave many great suggestions, made sure we were okay, and was overall great company! Mauricio was also amazing and knowledgeable! Thank you, as always! 🫶❤️
I was very pleasantly surprised by everything at Sol Agave. Our server was attentive and made great suggestions on the menu, and the food was top notch. We got the guacamole sampler and the pork belly bites as appetizers and there was plenty to go around for 4 of us and both dishes were unique and flavorful. Then I got the short ribs (birria) and my wife got the chef’s famous carnitas. The birria was honestly to die for and the carnitas were great. One person at our table also got the mar y tierra and they were some of the most unique and tasty enchiladas I’ve ever had. Finally, the butter cake lived up to all of the hype. I was super impressed with how unique every dish was, while also feeling totally authentic at the same time. The flavors were complex and rich, and the portion sizes were really big (which usually doesn’t happen with food of this quality). It was pricey but it felt worth it all the same. The ambience was great too. We went a little early for dinner, around 4:30, but even as the restaurant totally filled up it wasn’t too loud. My only complaint was that the horchata felt both gritty and watery and that was a little disappointing. Everything else was top notch however.
Our server Drew was amazing!!! I’m 58 years old and he is definitely the BEST Server I have ever had. That’s no exaggeration! Thank Drew! He needs a raise! The food was incredible and the butter cake for desert was beyond amazing. Get that for sure!
Such a wonderful experience! The Mexican food was fresh, flavorful, and truly satisfying. You can tell they care about quality. Alejandra was fantasti! Attentive, warm, and very efficient. She made us feel completely taken care of. Overall, everything was lovely. Highly recommend!
I’ve always heard Sol Agave was super over priced and I generally think most Mexican cuisine can be made at home for cheaper, but I was pleasantly surprised to find this was not the case here! I don’t think there was anything in the menu that I could have made at home. While it was expensive food, it was unique and delicious! I had the Lobster enchiladas and of course, the famed Butter Cake, plus a few appetizers and everything was incredible! My only complaint is that we had a group of about 8 people and about half the group ordered the Carnitas. They brought the carnitas plates out early because they are faster to prepare, but it took another 10-15min it’s to bring out the rest of the food. That is a massive amount of time for us to either watch the rest of the group eat or for the group to let their food go cold. I can understand a difference of a few minutes, but this felt like an eternity, hence the four stars. I’m not sure I would ever go back because of the price tag, but I understand why people enjoy dining here and I don’t think it was too expensive.
It was packed with a long wait. Thankfully there were 2 spots at the bar we were able to walk up to and seat immediately. We stayed for 2 hours. It was really loud, but the food was decent and bar staff were attentive.
The food was good, but part of the dining area was extremely cold. The heater did not cover all seating areas, and I had to keep my down jacket on throughout the entire meal. Because of this, I couldn’t fully enjoy the food. If the heating system cannot reach certain tables, those seats should not be used, especially in winter.
Had a mixed bag at sol agave. We ordered the sugar cane fillet, lobster enchiladas, and butter cake based on google reviews recommendations. We ordered the sugar cane fillet medium done and it was well done. Not worth the $25 and I was left very underwhelmed with the dish. Not sure if that is from the flavor profile in general or just that it was severely overdone for my taste. The lobster enchiladas had a lot of yummy flavor but you couldn’t tell if or when you were eating lobster. I would love if they had a shrimp option with that green sauce. The butter cake was excellent! Served warm and the sugared edge was soo good. I didn’t like the pressure to leave a google review so our waitress could leave early for the night. She kind of stared at us for awhile when no one wanted to scan her QR code. I know this is good for business but it’s uncomfortable for customers.
Bright, fun atmosphere downtown. All the flavors were on point and had a lot of depth to them. The beans and salsa were an amazing start to the meal. The enchiladas and tacos were both addicting. The waitress highly recommended getting the butter cake for dessert it reminded me of a vanilla cobbler with ice cream it was a good way to end the meal. The only reason for the 4 star was the service we had to track down the waitress for more drinks and were not checked in after we got our food. We'll definitely be back to see if it was just an off night.
Been coming here for years. The food is ALWAYS Amazing. The Guacamole is dreamy, brunch as well as dinner is sublime. The only problem is that the service is always hit or miss. First time here it took 15 min before a server over a few tables noticed that our server had never come by, then she just told the mgt she was taking over and everything was good. Today, the food was again amazing, but our first server, we had to repeat everything we ordered several times and he would still come by and repeat questions we had already answered. Thankfully Eros came to our rescue and took over. Everything was good then. My friend, she had said that our first server might be a pretty boy, but useless as a waiter.
I have been wanting to come here for awhile and have mixed feelings. The food was great and the birthday celebration was cute! However, the staff need retraining. I made a reservation for 630. We got there at 6:15 and they said it would be awhile. If it’s call ahead seating and NOT a reservation we should know that. It’s fine. We were early. 630. Nothing. 645 nothing. 655 I went up and asked if our table was almost ready as it was almost 7. The hostest not only lied to my face and said “oh your reservation was at 645” she manually went in at 7 o clock and changed my reservation to support her lie. We finally got sat at 7:15 and had to cancel our 8pm reservations for the rest of the birthday plans. Then the server didn’t take our order for 15 minutes with no chips or salsa given. Then the server never came to check on us. Then asked 3 separate times if we wanted boxes. Then when I told her to put the birthday girl on my check she didn’t listen and gave her her own check anyway and I had to steal it from her and do 2 separate transactions. Then the server asked us to leave a review with her name so she could go home early. It was a mess from start to finish. Hopefully the one in SLC has their stuff together more. $40 tacos should come with better service. And I won’t return to an establishment who is comfortable lying to me for no reason. An apology that they forgot about us or were too busy to seat us for an hour would have gone a lot farther than gaslighting.
The pros: - Good flavor profile on the food. There is a lot of variety and unique dishes. The cons: - The place is absolutely too loud and ruins any premium feel. - There were a lot of flies buzzing around us (indoors) and I was constantly swatting at them. - The service was very slow.
My girlfriend and I went to the AF location for Valentine's Day, and while the food was very good, we had a poor check-in and seating experience. We checked in for our scheduled reservation on time, and the hosts told us we just had to wait for an open table (which was fine and to be expected). I'd asked them if we could wait outside and they said they would call us over the mic. We waited about 25 minutes and went back inside to see if our table was ready. Apparently their mic wasn't working, and they had called us and we didn't hear, so we had to wait even longer. We waited 45 minutes from check-in time to be seated. We were placed at a wobbly table and our tablecloth had stains on it (we also saw that the tablecloth on the next table over was just being wiped off, not cleaned/replaced). Our waiter was great, our food came fast and was very good, but I'm reluctant to come back due to everything else.
This place has so many amazing reviews so we were excited to try it but our experience was not great. Our server was friendly, at first and offered drink and food suggestions. He said the "Cadillac Margarita" was amazing so I went with that. When it came to our table I was alarmed at first because of the the color, then I noticed it only had a few ice cubes in it, and zero salt on the rim. I asked the waiter if I could have a salted glass and he took my drink and in a few minutes brought it back and it looked as though they had just sprinkled a few pieces of salt on it. It only tasted like a cheap margaritas mix so I sent it back and stuck with water. They brought chips and salsa to our table but never came back by to see if we would like more. I assumed it was one portion so, no big deal. However, I began noticing that every other table around us was getting refills constantly. Our waiter didn't come back by until we received our food. We ordered the Mar y Tierra for dinner and it was so bad I couldn't eat it. My husband managed to eat some of it and it ended up making him sick. This place is pretty expensive and the quality of food and drinks did not live up to the hype.
We had high expectations for Sol Agave with all the great reviews, beautiful atmosphere, and nice food presentation. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the hype. We ordered the “Sol Agave Para Dos”/“Taste of Sol Agave”/“Taste of Mexico” for $72 and felt like a rip-off, especially because we saw much bigger portions in the pictures. All the meat came out cold, and the “medium rare” steak was overcooked and chewy. The elements were either salty (like the beans and dips) or had no flavor (steak, carnitas, chicken, shrimp). The portions felt small, particularly 4 shrimps, 2 small tortillas, small cups of beans and rice, and maybe 4 oz steak felt small for what we paid for. Music was also loud for us and we got sat by a bunch of giant tvs. On the positive side, service was good with friendly staff. Update: We got symptoms of food poisoning the morning after eating here. We suspect it’s from here given that there are other reviews with a similar experience. Will be updating to 1 star.
My husband and I dined here on Valentine’s Day and had an overall okay experience despite how busy it was. Unfortunately, we didn’t receive silverware until after our food had already been served, and my husband had to ask a waitress for it. We also had to request plates. To be fair, our waitress was very kind and accommodating, and we understood that the Valentine’s Day rush likely affected the flow of service. However, the more serious issue came after our visit. We ordered the Mar y Tierra dinner for two and began experiencing stomach pain later that evening. By the next day, we were both violently ill with what appeared to be food poisoning — we couldn’t even keep crackers down. We called the restaurant three times to report the issue and left voicemails but never received a response. When I finally reached a manager named Ben, the interaction was very disappointing. I explained that I wanted to report the food poisoning in hopes of preventing others from getting sick. He immediately responded with, “How would you even know it was us that gave you food poisoning?” and said that no one else had reported being sick, so he had no reason to believe me. I calmly reiterated our experience and asked whether any compensation might be possible given the situation. Ben refused to offer a refund and suggested that I was being intentionally deceitful to get my money back. I am very disappointed in the lack of accountability and the manager’s response. After reading other reviews, I’ve noticed similar concerns specifically with the Mar y Tierra meal. Based on our experience, I would not recommend it.
