The food was great and seemed high quality. I visit many Thai restaurants. The spicy scale seems hotter than typical. There is a recommend wine pairing for every course. The spring rolls were very fresh and the shrimp tasted fresh as well. The bathroom was a little run down and definitely not on par with the rest of the restaurant.
Fabulous dining experience. Wonderful wine and beer selection. The food was amazing. The scallops appetizer was so terrific. Don't miss the papaya salad. The BBQ beef and pad Thai were delicious. Wish I would have gotten more pics to share.
This is some of the best Thai food I have had in Utah. It’s a small restaurant so expect a small wait (we waited maybe 15 minutes at 7pm on a Saturday). We had the curry pot stickers, fresh spring rolls, yellow curry with beef, pad Thai with chicken and the steak salad. Seriously amazing!!
I actually haven’t dined in yet. I’ve ordered takeout like 4 times now and it’s delicious every single time! Their Tom Yum soup is the best I’ve had out there in SLC. There curry dumplings are so flavorful as well. Highly recommend. Hopefully I can dine in soon :) keep this business open please!
Far exceeded our expectations. Every dish was interesting and delicious, service was good, and prices were very reasonable. I was blown away by the lamb, the sauces they make are very balanced and enjoyable
This was my second time eating at this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. The food came out fast, fresh and the flavors were amazing. So every time we come in from out of town for the skiing, we look forward for Ve La Thai.
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a long time! Very well taken care of on the inside, and the service was perfectly timed. The food is what really stole the show! We ordered the massaman beef and lamb cutlets in curry and they were delicious! The meat cooked to perfection, it was so tender I was able to cut across the fascicles with minimal effort. The sauce was rich and the flavors were balanced perfectly. It came with spice level “mild” and the spice was exactly what I expected, not too much or too little. We also ordered the mango sticky rice for desert. The mango was really fresh and the rice was just sugary enough! Ve La Thai blew us away.
We were torn between trying out Sumac Cafe (Persian food) and Ve La Thai, both of which had the highest reviews for restaurants in the area.. by a long shot. After having a really great meal at Sumac Cafe the night before, we tried Ve La the next day. And to our surprise, it WAS SOLID Surprising to find tasty thai food in the mountains of Alta! The spicy chicken dumplings are a must get (think chicken dumplings bathed in red curry!).. salmon carpaccio was fresher than we anticipated.. the scallops were tasty Stand out was the lamb cutlet curry with mashed potatoes. The red curry with chicken was tasty Another must get: tom kha soup. The spice levels here are no joke.. so if you like something with a kick, you’re in for a treat (but ask for ‘hot’) Big space.. friendly attentive service. Worth checking out for sure!
Everything about this place gets 5-stars, especially the food! The ambiance here is very classy/swanky; there are several wine bottles lining the walls from floor to ceiling. The server was attentive and kind. Now, the food - I cannot begin to explain how amazing every dish was. Each order had its own extremely unique and delicious flavor. With every bite came a punch of complex flavors that perfectly blended together. Truly, they served flavors that I have never tasted before. Ve La Thai elevates traditional thai dishes by putting their own spin on it, which creates something truly new and delectable. Every sauce was distinctively tasty; no sauce tasted like the other. The quality of every ingredient was so fresh! Everything came out perfectly cooked, especially the salmon in my Salmon Nashi Salad and the lamb chops. I cannot get over how unique and intricate the taste of each dish was. Each bite was extremely scrumptious from beginning to end. No crumbs were left! Perfect place for a date night. I'll be sure to return!
So tonight my wife and I went to have dinner. OH MY is all I can say. This is my #1 Asian restaurant in all of Salt Lake. We had the Curry Dumplings, Drunken Noodles, Curry Salmon, Pineapple Fried Rice and the Mango Sticky Rice for desert. I'm not a big rice lover, but it was good. The rest a 10/10!! Can't wait to go back. And the service, I swear be ready when you order, like 5 minutes after you order, it's at your table. Staff very friendly. Can wait to go back!!
We went there for our anniversary dinner. The food was so good specially the lamb cutlet curry with mashed potato. We took beef fried rice, that was also good. Though the portions were not like other Thai restaurants but as it’s a fine dining, you need to compromise that. We took mango sticky rice. Though the mango wasn’t so sweet but the balance of the dish was very nice. Absolutely love the environment and recommend this place.
Such great food, especially for the price. Reviews convinced me to get the soft shell crab and it did not disappoint! Really nice flavor. The lamb curry was exactly what you’d expect and not too spicy. I only wish the kids meal we got for our daughter came with vegetables. Service was friendly, helpful, and great with kids for being fine dining!
We had a great experience at Ve La Thai yesterday, particularly with the salmon curry, which was cooked to perfection and was soft and juicy. My friends were also pleased with their meals, and the service was excellent, especially considering our large group of 12. I would definitely recommend Ve La Thai to my friends.
This restaurant is incredibly good and offers unique Thai dishes you don’t normally see in other Thai restaurants. I enjoyed the soft shell crab and curry dumplings. The service was extremely fast so I would totally take my kids here ! I feel like we were in and out in 30 minutes. The ambience is nice and relaxing, give this place a try!
What a great experience. The atmosphere is lovely. The interior design is warm and relaxing. Seems to be a popular place for Apres Ski. We had an early dinner around 330. The food is so good. We came for the soft shell crab dishes we saw in other reviews and they didn’t disappoint. We had chili jam with soft shell crab and papaya salad with soft shell crab. The papaya salad was spicier than I expected but so flavorful and I couldn’t stop taking bites. Very grateful I had a delicious Thai iced tea at the ready to tone down the heat. Really can’t wait to come back for a night of nice wine and to try more of the menu!
Excellent taste and preparation. The shrimps were the most plump and juicy I have ever had and the spice level in the curry is perfect - leaves a nice warmth without being overwhelming. It’s also nice that they stay open in the later afternoon rather than closing shortly after lunch and reopening for dinner. We like to eat around 3:00 and most other places are closed.
What an amazing, hidden gem in an unassuming strip mall location! Our friendly service told us that the restaurant had only been opened for one month, but this place is excellent! The food was amazing, the service was attentive, and the interior decor and atmosphere was tasteful and very pleasant. We ordered the Thai spring rolls appetizer, the Chili jam soft shell crab (pictured), and the Cashew nut sauce stir fried. Everything was excellent! We’d become regulars here if only we didn’t live in Atlanta. A long weekend at Snowbird brought us to town, and we wanted to get into town and take a break from the standard overpriced touristy spots in the mountains. It’s a reasonable drive down the mountain and worth seeking out whether you are in town or up on the slopes. Next time we’re here, we’ll definitely be back!
This place was so good!! All the pictures of the food are half eaten because we couldn’t wait to dig in lol. The service is great and the atmosphere is incredible. I never would have guessed that such a nice place would be tucked away in a Smiths parking lot. We highly recommend the pineapple fried rice. Not to mention the coconut rolls they gave us from Thailand. Come try this place asap.
Good Thai restaurant (I’m Thai). The atmosphere is very nice and the service is great. Unfortunately they have just opened so they haven’t got alcohol license yet (they said they will get it in about 2 months). The foods were good. The menu has photos of the dish which helps my friend who is American. The fact that there are not too many options to choose from might be weird for a Thai restaurants, which tend to have pages of selections, turns out to be good as we can decide rather quickly on what we want. I had beef tartare as an appetizer. The dish was flavorful and yummy; although, personally I think the flavor is a bit too strong and more suitable with rice. Considered that they have just opened 4 days ago, I’m sure they can adjust the taste a bit. Overall, I think this dish will be 5/5 as an appetizer if they make it a bit lighter. The main dish I got was creamy chili jam soft shell crab. The dish is good and they are not stingy with the amount of crab they put in the dish at all compared to many other Thai restaurants that put a few crabs with a bunch of vegetables. It goes well with the rice and I’m sure customers, regardless of nationalities, will enjoy this dish. In conclusion, I will definitely be back and recommend this for anyone looking for a nice Thai restaurant.
Got takeout on a Sat night. Probably not my best idea cause it was pretty crowded between the diners, people waiting on their take-out orders and the squadron on Uber eat drivers. Granted it was a little crazy when I got there but things really could have been better organized at the front desk. I stood there ( along with several other people) for probably close to ten minutes without anyone acknowledging us. I finally had to track someone down to ask if my order was ready. It was, and was sitting there the whole time I was waiting. The food itself was delicious. Ordered drunken noodles with beef and red curry with chicken, both medium heat level which was about right. Meat in both dishes was on point, flavorful and tender. White meat chicken which is a must for me. Curry is pretty saucy, wish it had a little more actual food in it. The white rice they provide comes in a small container, not the “normal size” which I feel is a little chintzy. We didn’t even have enough rice to soak up all the delicious sauce. I mean, come on….plain white rice is dirt cheap. If you order a saucy entree, I might suggest ordering a second thing of rice.
Ordered take-out on Christmas day. Thank you for being open, friendly, and quick! I plan on going into the restaurant for another try. That said, while the yellow curry was delicious...it was incredibly thin. I've never had such watery curry. It tasted great, but lacked the satisfying silky texture you look for in a proper curry. We had several orders of Pad Thai, which were very nice and satisfying. One thing the menu is missing is a massaman curry.
