We went here after going through central. The food was nice and we ordered rips and schnitzel. Also ordered dessert as well. Their customer service is really good.

We turned without making a booking and there were a couple of tables spare, but booking would be advised. We had lasagne and sea bass, the food came nice and quick and the staff were on point for getting drinks. Really nice food and decent prices.

One the nicest lunch spots in Amsterdam. I have visited here 4 times now. The drinks are very nice (try the mojito!), the food is lovely and comforting, genuinely good portions and the staff are very friendly. Not to mention the brilliant views of the canal. The reason for 4 star for service is the last time we visited, the card machine wasn't working and the server blamed us as we had a British card and apparently this 'always happens'. She then asked us to use a different card which we didn't have, and then she got frustrated when we said this (despite us being there 2 days earlier and it working absolutely fine with our card). She got a new card machine after and it worked absolutely fine the first time. Other than this, we really enjoy this restaurant, I would definitely recommend!

Stopped in for dinner while on vacation. Cool old building with standard bar fare. We were excited to see fish and chips on the menu but unfortunately they were out! We had the calamari to start which was tasty. My wife had the lasagna, which was good although not particularly tomato-y. I had the steak which was perfectly cooked. Service was pleasant and food was quick to the table. All in all a very good experience!

I had a fantastic experience at The Grasshopper in central Amsterdam. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was lively and welcoming — a perfect spot to soak up the energy of the city. The lobster soup was delicious and not heavy. Great lunch option. Tenderloin carpaccio was the best….. so much flavor. We will definitely come back here when we travel to Amsterdam.

We ordered the wagyu burger and the chicken burger and we really enjoyed them! Both came with generous portions of fries which were nice and crispy. We added bacon and cheese to our burgers and they came with caramelised onions which were great. The prices are fair for the size of the burgers! We enjoyed the atmosphere and had a lovely time!

Great view great service for me. However I watched 15 groups of people that would have ate here but no one greeted them at menu area at front corner of restaurant. Big groups. As a business owner my self I would talk to the manger and fix asap. A lot of money walking out the door because of lazy workers.

The place was clean, and the kitchen was visible from outside, looking absolutely spotless something I always pay close attention to. It was an impressive sight. The service staff were very polite and attentive. We ordered fish and chips, and it was quite good definitely got our approval. We would definitely come back here again!

The Grasshopper is a very cozy pub with a charming Irish-style atmosphere. The tables are well-spaced, and the armchairs are incredibly comfortable. The menu offers a wide range of options, from English-style breakfasts to unique burgers. The English breakfast was absolutely delicious! Crispy bacon, flavorful sausages, perfectly cooked eggs, and, of course, the classic sweet English baked beans that brought everything together perfectly. I highly recommend it, whether for breakfast or other meals. Plus, it offers a stunning view of the canal and the historic center.

Atmosphere in the establishment is nice albeit a bit cliché with all the old Amsterdam photos. Food is tasty and service generally good. Not the cheapest place to go for dinner but you pay for the location as well.

Wasn't very busy but waited for an hour for a full English breakfast, people that were seated and ordered after us received food way before us. Maybe because we English? Have eaten there many times before and had no issues. My black friend I was sat with say they do this to him a lot.

Close to the train station and ideal for calling in before train to the airport. We chose lots of small appetisers to share - food excellent including oysters. Told staff we were in a hurry and they gave excellent service. Love to go back with more time.

Nice cosy place in central amdterdam where you can enjoy drinks and food sitting outside around the canal side. Food quality is not consistent though as this was my second visit and the quality and taste wasn't same. Drinks especially beer is good though as is the quick service.

The view and food are excellent. However, the service was not so great. The waitress was not very friendly while explaining to us how to place the order. Then, she totally forgot our second drinks.

We read about the service here and we're a bit concerned. Our experience, however, was excellent. From a warm greeting to quick service we felt we were well taken care of despite the restaurant being full. The Varied Tapas plate was a great pairing for opening cocktails. It featured four different meats including Iberico ham, prosciutto, salami and chorizo. We live the Dutch sausage that brought a little fire to the table as well. Gouda cheese, warm bread, small salad and olives rounded out the starter. We shared a perfectly cooked pork schnitzel for the main course, it was huge along with a baked potato. Again perfectly executed. Prices were not expensive, beer and wine choices were plentiful.

The location for this place is very nice. The food is decent, however, it is a but overpriced for what you get. The service was very rude and bad, they had a bad attitude towards us there and where not friendly whatsoever.

Food was ok, tasted good, and great location. but slightly overpriced. €1.50 for one extra slice of cheese on a burger? Hmm 🤔 My server was good, but another (bar) staff seemed to have an attitude, or maybe just a staring problem. A little unfriendly atmosphere feeling.

Decent. Not amazing. Food was good and service was above board. Nothing to rave about in terms of food quality of uniqueness. The beer selection was fine with a nice view of the tourist area and some water view.

The steak that I ordered was decent and the service was awkward. We got there later in the evening but I'm hoping that if we had went earlier in the day, the service would have been better. Not sure. Wasn't a good first impression. And the food was really expensive so that made it a little weird. For that price, the presentation and food taste should be better.

It was my third visit to Grasshopper. The location and the ambience is very good. We both had the Angusburger with fries for €26. Which is unfortunately a lot for a hamburger with fries. My fries included cold fries from the old batch. I'm a chef myself and unfortunately I know it. Unfortunately, the service was the most disappointing point. Very unmotivated and listless. A pity!

This place has a nice atmosphere and a pleasant view, which is great especially on a hot day due to its proximity to water. However, I found it to be a bit overpriced for what it offers. The beer was decent, but unfortunately, the burger was served cold and lacked the expected melted cheese inside. Overall, not the best value for money.

Arrived for breakfast - waitress wasn't bothered about the seat she sat me in outside was being dripped on by the wet awning. Food was average, atmosphere wasn't as expected in Amsterdam - no smoking allowed at all

We were a group of four friends and were searching for somewhere to eat. We ended up in this place after checking out some reviews. The person who took our order had a sarcy behaviour towards us. We were asking questions as we didn’t know what exactly were the toppings in each dish. My friend didn’t like the chicken which was drooping with peanut sauce. She returned it and asked for the same chicken skewer without the sauce. As any good restaurant they should ask if we have any allergy’s but the server didn’t. I ordered the safe option of fish and chips which was ok in taste but could also feel the oil in my mouth when I was eating it. The Chicken was very chewy and hard and had no taste to it. On top it was very pricey. I wouldn’t go there again.

Been living in Amsterdam for 6 years now and always saw this place as a tourist trap and boy was I right! Thought I’d treat myself to a Wagyu burger and for 18 euros I expected something great. What I got was (what I can only imagine) frozen patty that was over cooked and tasteless. Fries were not included and cost 5.50. Even though extremely overpriced the beer was good. Service was friendly but that is pretty much the best that can be said about this place :(

This restaurant has one of the best spot with a nice view. However the perf/price is not at the top. I found it expensive and not well presented for a regular food lacking of taste. You discover extra cost a the end. Staff is nice and the deco too and quantity is well enough. But basically you can find better around if you want to eat.

There with the family and everyone in their mid 20s was asked for their IDs. Odd but that doesn’t affect my review. Rules are rules - just don’t forget to bring your ID. After we paid our server swiftly walked away without offering the receipt. After we flagged her down it turned out she had overcharged us.

Overpriced beer, but understandable due to its location. But the staffs NEVER COME TO THE DRINKING PLACE NEITHER TO TAKE AN ORDER OR TO CHECK OUT. I’ve seen people from several tables leaving this place because nobody came. I also waited for the staffs to come for a long time.

We came at night for some drinks and sat down, but after a few minutes, we decided not to stay. As we were getting up to leave, the waiter shockingly showed us the middle finger. We sat outside and could hear most of his interactions. When I asked questions about anything such as removing cucumber from my burger he immediately said I was 'difficult this girl' my other half. I had only asked the difference between a small and large glass and asked cucumber be removed from my burger 🙄🙄🙄🙄. Our burgers (being as they were the 'Grasshopper' burgers you'd assume there was something special to them) were just plain mediocre at best and I could have made them WAY better in my own backyard. They lacked everything and were just hamburger on a bun, unseasoned and my cheese wasn't melted because my burger was COLD. No purpose in asking them to put it in a microwave seeing how a medium temp was already welldone. Basically a tourist trap on the way back to the circle. The ambience was an outside canal view which was the only bonus. As far as anything else I'm glad they provide ketchup, mayo SALT and pepper .... It's NEEDED!!!! BE AWARE and check your bill!!!! Our waiter added alcohol such as beer and wine we didn't order. He had someone else try to check us out who then said 'oh yeah check with your waiter'. Our waiter came over and gave the same price which we then had to ask those came off our bill. He thought for a few and proceeded to remove from our check (only after horribly trying to act as if he actually served us these). Yeah .... You're actually busted.

The Wagyu burger doesn't taste better than a classic burger, I was not able to tell any difference. The fries are not included in the burger's price, which is already 18 € They cost 5,5€. The fries were not very good, probably not fresh potatoes as we're used to in Belgium. The waiters were not friendly, the place seemed cosy but a group of german men were screaming all over the place and nobody gave a fork about it. I would definitely not recommend this place, I think you can get a much better meal for the same range of price.

Rude, hypocritical and deceitful behavior of the staff: Bogdan and Andrea. Bogdan (if the waiter introduced himself by his real name) didn't explain his disgusting behavior clearly or logically. When I asked to call the manager, he replied that he handled everything at the cafe. However, after numerous persistent requests for the manager, he introduced his friend, Andreia, who was standing next to him, as the supervisor. She also failed to provide the same service as other customers next to us got, nor to logically explain Bogdan's behavior. Nice place, beautiful view... but the disgusting behavior of the staff: Bogdan and Andreia will ruin your mood and your evening.
