Nick's on 2nd is everything you want for a weekend brunch spot--elevated comfort food, great service, and a lively, upscale vibe. We started with the deviled eggs and tomato bisque with grilled sourdough--simple but done right. The soup was creamy and bright, and the deviled eggs were a surprisingly flavorful bite to kick things off. For the main, I had the short rib hash with broccolini and sunny side egg--this was the standout dish. The short rib was tender and rich, and the velvety hollandaise brought it all together perfectly. It came with a fluffy house biscuit that was just chef's kiss. We wrapped it up with the French toast topped with whipped cream and caramelized banana--sweet, soft, and decadent without being too heavy. Everything felt well thought out and made with care. Highly recommend for brunch lovers who want a little indulgence in a beautiful space.
Took a friend here who was visiting California from out of town, and I'm so pleased by the whole experience. Kasey (I really hope I spelled your name right, forgot to ask), was a fantastic waiter who not only gave great suggestions based on our preferences, but also checked on us just the right amount and was pleasant to talk to. I had what might be the best Moscow mule of my life (they muddled a little blackberry in upon request, and it was the perfect addition of tart flavor). Every dish was delicious and brought to our table with time between to enjoy each one without the next going cold. We enjoyed the downstairs dining area since it was quieter for conversation, but I passed by the upstairs lounge and that space also seemed to have a fantastic atmosphere. No notes, absolutely taking a friend there again in the future.
One word: WOW. I went Nick's for the first time in March 2026 and had a fantastic experience. The service, including our awesome server Garrett who was super friendly and had great recommendations, was impeccable. From appetizers to dessert, the food was sensational- we had the deviled eggs, meatloaf, sirloin, and the bistro plate. I would recommend all of it and can't wait to go back- the food was impressive! The inside of the restaurant was beautiful too- quite a find for 2nd street. Highly recommend!!
Can’t go wrong, best in Long Beach. Great Salmon (ask for spinach raw not sautéed it’s oily) or secret fish off menu, have to get sourdough roll. Every salad pr sandwich or main meal will be amazing.
This is a great upscale restaurant. Have lots of business lunches here. This particular visit was with five of my colleagues. They all thanked me for choosing Nick's.

My husband and I just celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary at Nick’s on 2nd and had the most wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the drinks were divine, and our server truly was the icing on the cake—attentive, kind, and made the evening feel special. We were especially touched by the anniversary card signed by the staff. Such a simple gesture, yet so thoughtful and memorable, and a true reflection of how they go above and beyond to make their guests feel celebrated. Thank you for an unforgettable evening. We look forward to coming back again soon!
Christy and Ben at Nick’s on 2nd are absolute legends behind the bar. Every time I come in, they make the experience unforgettable. Their service is fast, friendly, and always on point. Whether you want a perfectly crafted cocktail, a great recommendation, or just good conversation, they deliver every single time. Their energy sets the tone for the whole place—fun, welcoming, and effortlessly professional. You can tell they genuinely care about the guests and love what they do. One of my favorite places to eat. I was really bummed when they took the meatloaf off the menu! Nice to see it back! Came in the other night with my friend & we had another incredible experience! Samantha, our server was extremely experienced & had a great personality & smile.....2 of my favorites! Meatloaf was great as always....will be back soon!

This place is always a vibe. It's always tasty. It's always good and great service. This is the first time I've tried this particular plate with the petite filet the soup and salad. Great price fills you up. What more can you ask for?
I found this place as midway between our hotel and where my old college roommate lives. What a find! The service was attentive without being fussy, and the food was ::chef’s kiss::. I had the soup special and the California salad, which was tastier than any salad has a right to be. The only problem is that we fly out tomorrow, and the dessert I ordered (lemon cake), while delicious, could feed five people!
I've been to Nick's in Pasadena before and had a great experience. However, Nick's on 2nd was something else. I came here for a work related lunch with one of my favorite clients and had the best experience with our server, Jonathan. I ordered the Center Cut Filet with mashed potatoes and it was so tasty! It was done right. I also ordered an espresso martini which was great along with some spicy margs. We ended the lunch with dessert which was also good! I would come back here in a heartbeat because of the service we received with Jonathan. He was attentive, knowledgeable of all the entrees and drinks (my client and I were so indecisive on what to get and Jonathan broke it down and gave us recommendations) and was super patient about it! Anytime you come here to celebrate something, they gift you a congratulatory card signed by the staff. It's a simple gesture yet so thoughtful and makes the entire experience even better. My client told Jonathan I just moved into a new place and the card was to wish me a happy housewarming. How cute is that? Lol. I parked in a public parking spot about a block away. You can also park on the street if you find a space.

Had a great time here! Drink menu was good, I had the Black and Blue Mojito (I think that's what it was called) super delicious. Also had the shrimp taquitos appetizer. Loved the different textures and flavors and the shrimp tasted fresh. Food came fast although I was dining on a Monday and my dinner party consisted of just myself. Also had the warm butter cake and can I just say - OH MY GOD - one of the best desserts I've had. It's a really intelligently crafted dessert, very rich and decadent with the berry compote adding just the right amount of sweetness, also a good desssert to share with others. Staff were super friendly, table and silverware were very clean/tidy. There's also an overall pleasant/good atmosphere in the restaurant. Great experience and would definitely go back if I visit Long Beach again.
What an amazing birthday lunch today! Nick’s has been a family tradition for celebrating. Today was one of our best experiences by far, Jessica our server was so exceptional, her caring & kindness to my family was beyond expectations. Date night location. It's romantic and has good dessert to feast on such as the butter cake, it's a must have 9.2/10 due to it's butter smooth taste. You'll enjoy. I ordered the sea bass. It could have been better but definitely a good dish, 7.1/10. She ordered the blackened fish sandwich. It's huge and will get messy. She liked it, 7.2/10. We loved everything. The food and the drinks were perfection. The ONLY thing that was weird was that they refused to put bread to the side on the original ribeye melt burger. All I wanted was for them to plate it without the bread… the waiter said the chef refuses to do it on that specific burger because of how it’s “plated”. Looking at the pictures of it online, it looks so simple I don’t see why it was such a difficult of an ask. All in all, I recommend this restaurant.

Atmosphere depends on where you're comfortable and I have to say, the clientele here are very wealthy people who give off a stuck up vibe, so it isn't a chill place with good vibes for that reason. The staff is not very happy and it can take a long time for you to get a drink order, which is fine, I was nice about it, but it is an upper end higher priced restaurant and I found the service lacking a bit in speed and friendliness. They were friendly enough though, but it was three stars worth of friendly, like meh I'm here, but I'm a little grumpy about it. The food was super delicious! The deviled eggs are breaded and fried, super delicious appetizer. The Bistro plate is really good. You get a filer mignon soup and salad. But if you get drinks here you're looking to be all in for a meal for one all in with 20% tip at $100.00 so it is not for the budget limited. That being said, for a nice lunch, or dinner out. The food is very good! The fig old fashioned are delicious and it could be a nice place to treat yourself to a nice meal.
