Opinions de Nixtaco Antelope
One of the best authentic taco places in Roseville. Clean, modern and beautiful interior. Friendly staff and very delicious tacos! Wide variety of combinations! Their salsas are also very good! Reasonably priced! Gets busy, plan accordingly.
Superb food as always from Nixtaco! Went to the original location a few years back and totally forgot about the Folsom location until I had a family member out visiting. Its hard to recommend things because every single thing I've tried has been delicious so I don't think anything would be a let down. The birria was delicious, which a lot of other places fail at out here, so definitely try that if you're on the fence. Carnitas are amazing, al pastor was amazing, spicy shrimp was so tasty and the spicy potatos were so buttery and full of flavor. The free salsa flight is an awesome touch as well, got me to try a couple flavors I wouldn't normally order myself - salsa with peanuts?!? Dont knock it til you try it! Can't wait to go back :)
Nixtaco was amazing. We sat at the bar and it was so cool being able to watch the tortillas made fresh right in front of us. You can really taste the difference, they were easily some of the best tortillas I’ve had. I had the house margarita, which was excellent, and they even had Pliny the Younger on tap, which my boyfriend was very excited about. We ordered the Pork Belly Taco (the Bacon Fest winner), Mushroom Taco, Rajas con Queso Taco, and Fried Chicken Taco, and every single one was incredible. The chips and four salsas were also a highlight, especially the peanut salsa, which was so unique and delicious. Service was excellent, food came out quickly, and the overall vibe was really chill and welcoming.
Ate at Nixtaco in Roseville today. Yum! Pork belly taco was outstanding on the fresh corn tortillas. Mushrooms don't carry a ton of flavor so I would say the mushroom taco was a picked onion taco but still yummy. Fresh, homemade chips, nice and salty, with a flight of salsas. Inside is a bit dark and the music was too loud for me so we sat on the patio which was great. Our waiter, Fernando, was outstanding! Make sure and get the churros for dessert!
Nixtaco is hands-down one of the best taco spots around, with a mix of authentic and fusion-style tacos that hit every flavor note. I loved the Carne Asada, Pollo en Mole, and the Roadkill taco—they’re all juicy, savory, and packed with flavor. Our table had 4 tacos each, but two tacos will easily fill you up, and they start you off with fresh tortillas and salsa. With so many tasty options to choose from, it’s no wonder they’ve won awards.
Terrific tacos unlike anything ive had elsewhere. Masterfully smoked meats with homemade corn soft tortillas. The "roadkill" taco is the absolute best, never mind the name. Chips with four types of salsa - including peanut salsa thats the best of the bunch. Delicious churros for dessert. Handful of Mexican wines on the extensive cocktail menu. Everytime I go through Roseville I stop here, and every time its a hit. Reservations recommended.
I’m rarely in Roseville, so the first chance I had, I decided to grab tacos at Nixtaco. I totally understand the hype and Michelin recognition. They have a really diverse taco menu. Personally I love all sorts of savory, meaty tacos, but I love to be wowed by flavorful vegetarian options. I went with a combination taco so I could try a bit of the raja con queso as well as their shrimp mazatian. I had the short rib barbacoa and pork al pastor tacos as well. I think my favorite was the al pastor as it was perfect as is. I didn’t add any salsa for heat or flavor - although the flight of salsa and chips was delicious on its own. The service deserves a standalone paragraph. I didn’t catch the hostess’s name but she greeted me quickly and told me about the happy hour specials as I was there at 3:30 on a Wednesday. My server’s name was Christina and she had great recommendations. She checked in moments after each item arrived. The food came out incredibly quickly while looking fresh and tasting great. Thanks for the late lunch!
Debuted in 2015 by Patricio Wise and Cinthia Martinez Sacramento’s most acclaimed Mexican eatery is tucked away in a Roseville Strip-mall, the corner slot adjacent a church continuing to draw Michelin Bib Gourmand acclaim each year since the guide expanded past Napa Valley. Unassuming from the outside, an outdoor patio giving way to booths and tables stretched along the open kitchen, light music plays while guests peruse a menu of Tacos and Burritos rooted in tradition but unafraid to have fun. Natives of Monterrey, but not afraid to riff on the Capitol’s “farm to fork" ethos by calling their concept "Farm to Tacos," all tables begin with complimentary housemade Chips alongside four Salsas ranging from mild green to smoky Peanut and fiery Habanero Carrot. Proud of their process, educated servers discussing everything from nixtamalization to the slow-cooked Proteins, options run the gamut from Esquites done the right way to Birria de Res complete with a sidecar of Consommé. Priced $6 to $9 per Taco, pricey but justified by the quality of each bite, Chicken Mole skips sweetness in favor of earthy aromatics complimented by Crema while Fried Chicken and the signature “Nixtaco Combination” are busy but tasty while nearly overwhelming the faultless Handmade Tortillas. Faced with tough decisions for Dessert, though staff suggests Flan over Churros, a $10 square arrives oversized and soaked with Caramel atop density and creaminess that features no air pockets but rather a texture akin to French Crème Caramel but better.
It was a nice establishment with attentive service although I'm not sure I liked the food style. The food quality and taste was actually good but I guess I was looking for the traditional Mexican food I'm used to. This was a completely different taste albeit very good. My wife loved her dish and she said it reminded her of the taste of Yucatan. She's Mexican and knows many of the different food regions of Mexico. To me it was a trendy restaurant with a different vibe. It definitely seems very popular.
Our first and not last time at Nixtaco The staff were amazingly friendly, fast service and outstanding food and beverage offerings I enjoyed starting off with the guacamole, chips and variety of four salsas, followed by two tacos. Nixtaco Combination Shrimp mazatlan-style, rajas con queso, chicharrón, micro cilantro and toasted chile, peanut chipotle and sesame seed oil. Carne Asada Grilled Harris Ranch Skirt Steak, Grilled Cheese, Caramelized Onions, Salsa Verde. Ended the meal with dessert Buñuelos Dessert pastry made from a crispy four tortilla, cinnamon, sugar and caramel drizzle
The guacamole was amazing , lots of fresh microgreens and really delicious. start was a little slow, but overall, it’s a Michelin-star-worthy taco spot with great vibes. The margaritas were on point. There were a few flies outside, but that didn’t take away from the overall great experience. Definitely recommend
Fantastic experience, it is usually busy so have the expectation that you'll likely wait if you don't have a reservation. But, the food is soooo worth the wait! Everything is delicious and you can tell it's prepared with care. My favorite is the Al Pastor...so good! 🤌🤌 Also, be sure to try some of their house cocktails!
This "farm to fork", Michelin bib gourmand place has amazing tacos! Not what you find at a traditional taqueria, but the flavors and ingredients are totally Mexican. Tortillas are hand made. Servers are considerate, sitting outside on a warm day is very pleasant. The atmosphere inside is very nice too.
This place is over communicative in regards to allergens that may be in their food, which I can appreciate with a kid with a nut allergy. The house made chips are really good. I like that the salsa comes with multiple sauces. The menu is very wide and I believe that you will find something that you will really love. I think 3-4 tacos are probably the right amount. Plan on spending 20-30 per person. The kids menu is limited but they hit the classics.
On our way from SFO to Lake Tahoe, we decided to stop here—and I’m so glad we did! These might just be the best tacos I’ve ever had. When you sit down, you’re welcomed with four homemade salsas, each with its own unique heat and flavor profile. Even the spicier ones let you taste more than just heat, which I really appreciated. The homemade corn tortillas were perfect—just the right size and texture, giving the tacos a hearty, satisfying bite. We ordered six tacos, and every single one was amazing. My top picks were the octopus, which was incredibly tender, and the spicy shrimp, cooked to perfection. My husband loved the pork belly—rich and flavorful. Each taco was distinct, with so many layers of flavor. If you’re a fan of bold sauces and vibrant tastes, this place is a must-visit!
Outstanding upscale tacos. Even though we didn’t have a reservation we were seated rather promptly, highly recommend you get one if going during lunch hour or later in the evening. You definitely can’t go wrong with any of their tacos. Pulp taco is out of the ordinary but very good. Service is great and staff is very friendly, food took no more than ten minutes to arrive at the table. Highly recommended restaurant.

Nixtaco is a modern spin on tacos with quality ingredients and bold flavors. Every time I'm in the area, I make sure to stop by. Their handmade corn tortillas are fluffy and thick enough to hold all the toppings, but pliable and light. Octopus 5/5* The best out of all the tacos we tried over the years. The octopus was super tender and perfectly paired with the peanut chipotle sauce. They don't skimp on the octopus and you get nice meaty chunks as well as the charred tentacles. The serrano infused butter added richness, but also has some serious kick to it! This taco was just perfection in both textures and flavors. Pork Belly 5/5* Wow! That glazed pork belly slab is good enough to be its own dish. It was fork tender, juicy, with an even ratio of meat to fat. The refried beans tasted slightly sweet from the glaze, almost like a mole sauce. The flavors were so well balanced.. sweet and savory. Nixtaco Combination 4/5* The taco was loaded with a mound of plump shrimp and chicharrón. The sprouts added a nice refreshing taste to all that savoriness. Although tasty, it's really messy and saucy. I also thought the sesame seed oil was too much and made the taco really greasy. Pollo en Mole 3/5* Just what the name says. Compared to the others, it needed something extra, veggies or something to balance out the rich mole sauce and soft chicken texture. Spicy Shrimp 2/5* Wasn't very spicy and too plain. 4 shrimps with grilled cheese was underwhelming. You could barely taste the caramelized onion. Although pricey, the octopus and pork belly tacos are worth every penny. They combination of textures and flavors are on point and will leave you satisfied. Not to mention the complimentary chips with four different type of salsas. Every salsa was delicious in its own, my favorite being the chunky salsa verde.

Let me start by saying the food is really good tacos are creative and they taste good but the big problem is is they're not very big and the taco start off at $8 each and go up from there. Burritos are almost $20. Also the shells are not homemade they taste store-bought that's somewhere where they could really improve too especially since they're asking an absolute premium on their tacos. I get what they're trying to do but Mas Tacos is about half the price with a very similar menu and style. I do not believe this is a very good value so I probably won't be coming back.
The presentation looks great, and the food tastes decent, but paying over $100 for a few tacos and drinks doesn’t feel justified. In particular, the food felt as though it had cooled and was served close to room temperature, and the fact that items like lime were not provided is a downside. the servers were exceptionally friendly, which was very impressive. It seems the Bib Gourmand badge has pushed the prices higher for the quality.
This is the third time I’ve eaten here and feel like it was finally time to write a review. I get the same tacos everytime for the most part and will review them but first and foremost I’d like to say if you’re looking for a good vibe this is the place. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the main room is awesome to be in. If you have a bigger party, it may be less enjoyable. They have a room through the back which we had this last visit because we had 9 people and the vibes are totally not the same at all. It feels like they are putting you in a back room for a birthday party and just kinda ruined the excitement for myself personally. The service is top notch and I’ve never experienced anything less than great waitresses and waiters. They know the menu well and are happy to provide feedback on all menu items. Now for the important part, the food and drinks. The margaritas are excellent. If I had to choose my go to margarita it would be the Cadillac. The others are just okay, I’ve had the prickly pear and it’s good but not as good as the ones I’ve had down in Arizona or elsewhere. The tacos are awesome, however I was disappointed with the consistency this last visit. I always get the carne asada, the combo and the pork belly tacos and I’m sorry to say the pork belly taco was very very grisly and hard this last weekend. I had to cut though the fat of it with a knife and it got stuck in my teeth and honestly grossed me out. I probably won’t get that again as a result. The other tacos are awesome and we love the salsas.
Great service, very nice staff. Unfortunately the food was a bit underwhelming, the pork and adobada tasted a bit like barbecue, the smokiness overwhelmed the intensity of the taco. The rice tasted to much of tomato, I had clumps of mushy bits, which is normal but it was very intense. If you are looking for authentic it misses the spot but it’s a cute place that has the spirit. For the price I expected a bit more but nevertheless it was okay. The ambience of the place is very modern and simple.

I couldn't eat my order of tacos because I forgot to ask no sauce on them and it was way too spicy for me. I will have to go back so I can actually eat my meal.
Food portions were small and expensive. I was not impressed with the food the drinks or the ambiance. Have had better tacos from a truck. Also it felt snooty in there. I wont be back.

Not sure how they have the rating they have with over 2500 reviews. This place was subpar at best. We tried 6 different tacos and all were either dry meat or overly greasy. Only one that was alright was the standard carne asada and that was bland as hell. Flavors weren’t good. Definitely gave hipster, try-hard atmosphere. $8 per taco wasn’t very appealing as well. Something was off about the chips Only thing I would say was good was the service. Waiter was nice and we were served quickly. To sum it up I’d rather go to jimboys up the street.
Okayyy… this place is NOT good. It’s someone’s idea of what fancy Mexican food should be and poorly executed at that. This was the first time trying a Bib Gourmand restaurant (which was recommended FOUR years ago and not since!!) and wow I was appalled. If you like authentic Mexican food, ANY taco stand on the street has this place beat. Let’s do the pros first: Pliny the Elder on tap. Good beer list and strong margaritas. Happy hour specials too! Good chips and salsa - complimentary. That’s about it for the pros. Now for the cons… 1. Everything was room temperature. A congealed mess of cheese, proteins and occasionally beans. Unpleasant mouthfeel and no char. 2. The al pastor and barbacoa were soaking wet with juice. Definitely pulled out of a slow cooker pot. That was pulled pork in two different sauces and it was not good. 3. The shrimp and pork belly were beyond salty. The salt overwhelmed the flavor of anything else. 4. The birria taco was so disappointing. Congealed & soggy with tasteless beef. The consommé legitimately tasted like Campbell’s tomato soup topped with cilantro and onion. 5. $$$$ holy cow, paying $7-9 a taco one should expect perfection and nothing short of it. Unfortunately it fell incredibly short. $14 for one avocados worth of guacamole is a JOKE. TLDR; good drinks, bad food. This place tried too hard to create something new it forgot the roots of what Mexican food should be.
