My Mom and I celebrated our birthdays at Ambassador Dining Room. We are thankful to Gopal, Sneha, and Lector for making our experience very memorable. The food was prepared fresh and we truly enjoyed the authentic Indian flavors. We ordered the Appetizer Platter, Organic Butternut Squash Soup, Chicken Jalfrezi, Garlic Naan, Kashmiri Naan, Bhara Kulcha, and the Gulab Jamun for desserts. Sneha and Lector surprised my mom and I with two fabulous cheesecakes! 🥰 I truly appreciate the staff making our birthdays so special!!! We highly recommend Ambassador Dining Room for all your family and friends celebrations and every day dining. Thank you Gopal, Sneha, and Lector!! ❤️
My absolute favorite place to get Indian food in Baltimore, in a gorgeous setting. The food is just superb. The restaurant is on the ground level of a old apartment block with beautiful Gothic architectural detail. The restaurant itself has lovely large windows and two ornate working fireplaces in the back, so it's a wonderful place to go when it's chilly outside.
Incredible food, great service, absolutely wonderful, unique atmosphere. Fireplaces going during the winter. Top knotch brunch too.
Very good meal! I ordered the lamb, and it tasted really good! I recommended you come and try!
I have been coming here for over 18 years and it feels like home. The food is made from love, the hosts are accommodating and welcoming. Hoping all gets to experience this hidden joy nestled in the Cantebury!
I understand why this restaurant is called the Ambassador, as it is Baltimore's ambassador to the best Indian cuisine in the Mid-Atlantic area. My wife and I have been coming here for almost 30 years, and have never been disappointed. In the summertime they open up the patio dining area to a intimate garden back-dropped by the old majestic Mason's building. In the wintertime the patio has fireplaces at either end and glass walls to view the same scene. This restaurant serves very authentic and sophisticated Indian food. Everything is fresh and perfectly seasoned. The service is always very friendly and helpful without being constantly intrusive. This restaurant has always been our favorite one in Baltimore. I can't say enough good things about it.....Thank you Ambassador!!!
Great ambience! Great food. We ordered Goa Fish, Butter Chicken, Chicken Biryani, and some rotis and left no crumbs on our plate. Absolutely love the food and the hospitality here.
I can’t recommend Ambassador Dinning enough. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting. The service was impeccable attentive without being intrusive. Now, the food absolutely spectacular. We started with the Appetizer platter which was packed with flavor, and the butter chicken and Garlic naan was cooked to perfection. For dessert, the double layer chocolate cake was the perfect ending. You can really tell the chefs care about quality and presentation. Whether it’s a date night or a celebration, this place delivers. We’ll definitely be back!
This Indian restaurant is special in many ways. The ambience, a garden that opens up when is warm and warms up with fireplaces in cold weather, the staff are lovely and attentive, and the food is terrific. A buffet for lunch at a very reasonable price and a full menu in evenings. Every dish is delicious! It is also a lovely place for couples and larger groups. Even the garden outside is beautiful in warm weather. My partner and I were introduced here and have been coming here for more than 2 decades. Never fails to lovely on all accounts!.
We’ve been regular customers for several years. The atmosphere, food and service is outstanding. The ambiance of the outer section takes you back to a setting that is unique. Highly recommend a nice dinner!!!
The food here was excellent. The butter chicken tasted delicious and the chicken tikka masala was cooked to perfection. The temperature of the chicken was perfect and warm. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the JHU area, particularly for a more intimate and atmospheric vibe.
Not sure why I skipped over this place for almoat 30 years, but I’m glad I had the experience tonight. We shared the appetizer sampler followed by the sheesh kebab and chicken tika masala paired with the rosemary naan and keema naan. Absolutely delicious! Don’t sleep on the cardamom ice cream either. Side note: The Old Fashion was average. They’re not shy on the spice which we loved.
My wife and I are in town to see our daughter for Christmas. We are staying at the Hilton Colonnade next door. When the front desk attendant recommended the Ambassador Dining Room for excellent Indian food, steps away, we thought that sounded like a great idea. And it was! We didn’t have a reservation and were seated after a short wait, next to a beautiful functioning fireplace with a big red, lit-up bow over it. The food was excellent, as was the service and timing. Everyone was friendly, and the owner checked in with us at the end. We want to return next time we visit our daughter. Thank You, Ambassador Dining Room⭐️
Love the Ambassador! Beautiful decor (holiday decorations are gorgeous!) and staff is so nice. But best of all is the food. Really enjoyed our lunch yesterday!
Would highly recommend. The service was incredible — we ordered one entrée to share, and without us even asking, they split and plated it into two separate dishes. Small considerations like that are what elevate good service to truly great service. The food was excellent as well: not overly sweet like many other Indian restaurants, but authentic and flavorful. The ambiance was wonderful too.
Had a wonderful experience at the Ambassador Room!! I hosted a birthday party and the staff was so friendly and accommodating!! The brunch buffet was delicious!! Everything was labeled and also noted if it was a vegetarian entree, which several in our group appreciated. They also included drinks with the brunch- such as Grey Goose vodka and champagne!! Everyone had a wonderful time!! Very much recommend if you are looking for delicious Indian food!!!
Fantastic Indian food with excellent old-world service! Elegant atmosphere features open air garden seating in summer and fireplaces in winter. Weekend buffet with great selection of vegetarian, meat and seafood choices. All of your fav hot Indian breads too. Highly reccomend!
The Ambassador Dining Room is a certified banger, and I know bangers. With windowside seating next to a delightful courtyard you can listen to traditional Indian instrumental tunes while watching the birds. I've been pulling up on their elite buffet for over twenty years and they still serve that fire. If you ain't been here you really missing out on an experience my friend. Kick back with a mango lassi and tear off a piece of naan, fresh from the tandoori. Dip that joint in the palak paneer and you won't want to leave. The servers really cool for real. Pull up in the AM on a Monday and you might get served the check by the owner himself. Can't recommend this place enough. The spice level is obviously Indian food made for our melanin deficient pals, but don't get it twisted, the flavor is there. The rice is always cooked to perfection and the lamb vindaloo is tender.
This place was amazing. It's a little restaurant within the hotel. The Chana Masala with rice and creamed spinach was absolute divine perfection. The garlic naan and the roti were terrifically delicious. The mango lassi was heavenly. The great thing about the naan, too, was that it stayed soft and doughy throughout dinner and even when it became leftovers after taking some more home. Many times, I've had naan that gets all crispy in the middle, but this was great. Seriously, everything I ordered was phenomenal. The price of the Chana Masala was a bit high end, however. $22.95 for the dish, served in healthy portions. It was very well presented on the plate, so everything felt more upscale. However, Chana Masala is a dish one make at home well, too, and for that price, it's high. Flavor wise, though, I admit, I would not have been able to replicate the quality. The view was also gorgeous. We sat outside with a view of the lawn, the buildings nearby, and sunset. Nicely atmospheric. Small table with 4 of us, which we were able to get without making a reservation. The wait staff was attentive, so no one ever felt neglected. Overall, I thought this place, despite the prices, was probably the best Indian food I might've ever had so far....
We had a group of 4 people come in. It was pretty close to closing time, so I believe we were the only people in the restaurant. Service was very professional and accommodating; they kindly gave us a seat near the fireplace, given that it was quite chilly outside that night. We got the malai kofta, chicken tikka masala, and paneer tikka masala dishes, if I'm remembering correctly (it's been a few months since our visit). All of the dishes were delicious. They were well seasoned, creamy, aromatic, and presented nicely. The naan's we ordered came in a basket with linen cloth. Each curry came with a serving of rice, so keep this in mind if you're looking for a light meal. They will tell you this when taking your order. I would definitely visit again, but the prices were quite high for the quantity and amount of food served. Rice tends to be pretty cheap, so it seems the entrees themselves were slightly overpriced. If you're looking for something similar for less, consider Sakoon on St. Paul St. This is still a very good visit though, especially for the atmosphere and building.
Wonderful and historic setting. Extremely professional staff. The appetizers (the sample platter) was absolutely delicious. Maybe the best I've had. When the entrees arrived, the dishes were beautiful and the portions were great, but they were very under seasoned. The spice levels were milder than expected as well. A tad bit disappointing, seeing as how the appetizers were soooo great. Knowing that a chef isn't always performing at their best, I will definitely give them another try.
